'm a big fan of diners, so I was happy to stop here with a friend for breakfast. We decided to split an egg white omelet with onions, peppers, and spinach, and it was delicious--fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. The coffee was good too, which is always important at a diner! The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Sometimes it's the simple things that make for a satisfying dining experience, and this place delivered. Good diner with a view of the 59th street bridge and the tram - real New York scene! Food was good, service fast and yet they did not rush us out. There was some outdoor seating, but it was warm out and we were pleased that as a group of two they let us sit in a booth. They offer a large selection of lunch specials that come with soup and dessert, but we just opted for regular entrees. Good to know that a diner like this still exists! read more

This place is an absolute scam and the workers are discriminated against me. I placed a simple order of chicken tenders and a milkshake and they did not include the milkshake which cost $10. Then I called them and this rude person working there told me they aren't fixing the issue and that they are tired of dealing with "people like me". I will never order from here again. They also hide their name on delivery apps under the "Ritz Diner" so be careful. read more

Came for an early dinner. I got the deluxe burger with cheese and my wife got a chicken burrito. Both were so large that we took half of our meals home. I asked for a rare burger and it was pretty raw, I didn't complain because it didn't bother me, but if that's super important for you maybe ask for something more well done than you prefer. The staff was super friendly, even giving us free donuts to go on the way out. Will definitely come back. read more

Have been going to Tramway Diner since it opened in the spring, tried it because of the late dining hours, comfortable dining room with oversized banquette seats, service has always been good, the food was fair but they recently stepped it up in the kitchen. Had the beef brisket the other night and it was delicious and moist not dry as it is usually served in many restaurants. The sides were generous and the vegetables were fresh. The plating is what you would find at a lot of higher end restaurants. Happy that they were busy and hope that they stay around for awhile. read more

I stopped in for a bite on a Sunday just after noon and the brunch crowd was there in full force. There were a few people waiting but it was easy to get a spot at the counter. Fantastic chicken souvlaki platter! This is my go to dish at a diner. Chicken cooked perfect, juicy and tender. Salad is crisp and fresh ingredients, just like I would make at home. It's more a 3.5 than 4, but that is not an option. The food was good. I had the matzo ball soup and the Reuben. The matzo ball soup was great. The Reuben was not the best I've had but good, and its presentation was strange, making it impossible to eat like a sandwich; I needed a fork and knife. That's the first time I've ever used utensils with a Reuben. The potato salad was very good. The service was excellent. The place looks like a diner, which isn't a bad thing, and everything seems relatively new. I recommend it, but I'm unlikely to get the Reuben next time--it's too much of a hassle to eat. read more

I love this place. It's a little pricey for my budget, really just regular NYC prices, but I splurge anyway when I can. After the piece-metal-in-my-soup experience, I wrote directly to Tramway through the contact form on their website. Since I did not receive a response after 2 weeks, I can only assume they don't care. Perhaps potential customers will, though, so I'm posting my note here: I had lunch in your restaurant today, December 6, 2025, at around noon. Second booth in on the right when you walk in the door. I'm sure your waitstaff and members of your kitchen staff will recall what happened. I found a small metal cap/disk in the chicken soup. About an inch around. It looked like a metal cap you might find on the bottom of a chair or table leg, or as part of an appliance. Wish I'd taken a picture. Your waitress took it back to the kitchen and then offered me some broccoli soup instead. No apology other than at the end of the meal when she meekly said "I'm sorry about that" as she handed over the checks. Perhaps the lack of concern and no acknowledgement from a manager (as in, "sorry we could have choked you, so your turkey club is on us") indicates that these things just kinda happen all the time. No biggy, right? Unprofessional to say the very least. The lack of customer service along with questionable health and safety kitchen protocols does not make me want to rush back anytime soon! read more

The brunch they serve was a real disappointment. I ordered peanut butter pancakes and the pancakes came slathered with a bunch of peanut butter on the pancakes in a totally unappetizing presentation. Brunch supposedly included a fruit cup which which when it came had a tiny portion of fruit that could be eaten with two spoonsful. Last, the service was abysmal. The waiter was yakking to another waitress for 10 minutes and would not come over and give me a menu. When he finally arrived it was with sullen effect All in all the food and service were not up to any reasonavle standard and this place should be avoided.
