    Steak sandwich

I've been here twice in the past month and it's a really solid classic dinner. Vibes are casual old inside, not exactly cute retro if you were planning to take aesthetic pics. Prices are good and there's a slight discount to paying in cash. First time I came here I got the lamb dip sandwich and second time I got the steak sandwich. Both were delicious, solid size, came with fries. They messed up my order regretted first time but we're happy to fix it. I also go the strawberry milkshake last time, pretty good. Would be back.

A fairly standard diner. The menu is extensive and they deliver on target for most of that menu. They get busy but will keep things flowing. While nothing truly knocks it out of the park or goes far above and beyond, they don't miss that much nor will you be completely disappointed. The Bloody Mary was basically tomato juice and vodka, but it had a decent amount of vodka. I feel like they did the breakfast items a bit better than the lunch options. We were in a large group (6 or 8 of us) and got us seated fairly quickly, served in a reasonable time, and checked in enough for us to know they were around. I wouldn't make a special trip to visit, but wouldn't avoid Westway if I was in the area. Enjoy!

Reasonably priced and the "side" salad is very nice. But the chicken pot pie was very thick so it was a bit dry. The shrimp scampi was nice but the pilaf was hard.

The restaurant was very busy but we received very quick service! I ordered an Athenian breakfast wrap and and iced coffee. The iced coffee was alright, nothing special, definitely not the best. The Athenian wrap was pretty good as well but was submerged in grease. The pancakes were thick and so was the French toast. Solid and average breakfast choice

I have loved this place for 20 years. Nothing on the menu will make your eyes roll in ecstasy; it's a diner. But the menu has everything. The most diverse group of picky eaters can find something to enjoy on the menu. Everything I've had ranges from ok to very good. I recommend the Cajun Chicken in particular; yum. The burgers are a solid choice as well. My wife loved the French Onion Soup. The staff are nice, and you can sit comfortably with a group, enjoying dinner and a Blue Hawaiian or mimosa for hours. As long as it's open, I will come here when in town.

The Westway Diner is your typical NYC diner. They offer a wide array of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. The menu is literally pages long and has something for everyone. I haven't been here in a very long time and thankfully it hasn't changed very much. I went with the Acropolis Omelette that had gyro meat. It was delicious. It came with a side of hash browns which were crispy and rye toast. I added a side of bacon "just because." Coffee refills are still free, which is great. The food is what it is, fast, tasty and filling. The prices are up but not outrageous. I realize that a lot of diners have closed in NYC due to costs and regulations but I'm glad this one is still here. Diners are one of the things I really miss since I left NYC.

For years, Westway has been my go-to pre-theatre spot. The food is great, reasonably priced for the area and comes out fast. The wait staff is pretty on top of everything. The restaurant itself is clean and very typical-diner. This is always a strong recommendation I throw to people looking to eat in the area.

So I'm normally not a diner guy. The large menus kinda scare me, like they don't really specialize. However, breakfast is usually a safe bet and theirs was quite filling for a reasonable price. Hungry Man w/ Scrambled Eggs: I love variety, so this was perfect. Sausage, ham and bacon! The sausage was one thick log. The bacon pieces were long and crispy. The ham was just ham, with little grill marks. Nice and meaty with the eggs. French Toast: Not gourmet custardy, but kinda like what your grandma would make. Hearty and a good vehicle for syrup. Pancake: Pretty standard. Not as fortified as the French Toast, which may actually be good choice since the rest of the Hungry Man is very heavy.

This diner was so delicious, omg! The service was also very fast, we walked in and we were seated immediately. Very friendly staff. The atmosphere is pretty fast paced, you can have a seat at the bar or at one of their booths. I thoroughly enjoyed their red white and blue French toast. The batter they used to coat the bread is authentic and very tasty, not too sweet and not too cinnamon-y, it was perfect. My husband enjoyed him omelet as well, ate every bite. Whenever I'm back in NY, I'll make sure to pay this place a visit.

I was so excited to finally find a decently price sit down breakfast in Manhattan ( and it also happened to be the birthplace of Seinfeld?! ) - little did I know that the couple dollars I was saving would be costing me any form of pleasant service. our waitress asked for drink orders right as we were handed menus and, I am not exaggerating, 30 seconds later she said "you ready for food?" we didn't even have water yet. or silverware. - then while I was eating, she went and took my plate from me ... as I was literally eating off of it. just cleared the table as I was chewing and holding bread in my hand. - I ordered a pastrami sandwich which had a ton of meat in it, but the pastrami was super dry and flavorless. they charge $6 to add lettuce, tomato, and a side of fries. the fries were good, classic diner fries but needed more salt. - my dining companion got the "lox omelette" which is incredibly falsely advertised as there are no lox in it. just some cooked salmon chunks. good portion size though. - can't say I will be back, hopefully Larry David had a better time

This place has a very classic NYC diner feel. Chaotic, quick service, decent prices, and decent food

So great! We are here when we visited in January and then we went back again on our next trip in September. The food is excellent. The service is very quick. The place was packed both times, but somehow we were able to be seated right away. People were friendly and professional. Great place to grab a bite to eat!!

Late Sunday Brunch in NYC. A short wait but was seated promptly in a booth. Menu is quite large & we settled on a Pastrami Reuben & Greek Combo Burrito (Lamb Gyro, chicken, feta, onion, lettuce, tomato, tzatziki, rice, flour tortilla, curly fries). Needless to say the food was on point! The dessert case was very tempting too! We found out later that this diner was the "birth place" of the show, Seinfeld

The pancakes are some of the best I've ever had. So fluffy and light soaked in the sweet butter syrup. To die for. Evidently they are famed far and wide for their pancakes, which are quite delicious. I actually prefer more texture in mine, with a bit of crisp from the butter/griddle, but you will not be sad about eating these. That said, I truly enjoyed almost everything else more. This is not a knock on them in any way, but a compliment to their kitchen that all their food is interesting and delicious. To wit: The Thai Cobb salad has the base of a classic, but with the heat and the acid of a proper som tum. The KFC wings are everything I wanted them to be. I ate way too many. The Mushroom Reuben Quesadilla (pastrami-spiced portobello!) actually evokes the flavors of a reuben, and may just have been my favorite bite of the evening. I rolled with a katsu club sandwich for my main, and it was outstanding, although I may even have liked the tuna melt more. I was too full for dessert, but I think everyone around the table enjoyed theirs. The staff is uniformly friendly, welcoming, on top of their shit, and honestly, just so cool. They made us feel at home, and got us everything we needed and more. This is a gem. Maybe I won't wait seven years to try the next trendy spot.

Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense

Now for the most important part: the food! The fish n' chips are deliciously superb. The cod tasted fresh. The batter was light, crispy, and spiced well. What was noteworthy was the tartar sauce. It has a unique tang to it that made the fish n' chips refreshing despite the fact that it's deep-fried. Maybe it was a usage of lime and celery?
