Bowl to go. ~$16 post tax. Alright gyro meat (go for the souvlaki instead) but nice size
    Glenn C.

General notes- Bowls are a much better deal than the pitas. Also, regardless of the restaurant's name, the souvlaki is much better than their gyro. Also, they have an app that gives deals such as $5 off your initial order. I have been to this fast casual Greek spot with a handful of locations a few times. They remind me a bit of Eons, which I used to go to more often when it was closer to work, and it seems like a new one of these is going to pop up at 1st/34th, which I'm definitely looking forward to. By comparison, I would say that the portions are a good amount bigger at least compared to the old location of Eons (and definitely a lot bigger than the newer location,) but the quality overall is very slightly worse, whether it be the meats or some of the side dishes. However, they offer more drinks and snacks compared to the other spot, along with a Greek fro-yo selection and even a Greek-style breakfast. The spot is large otherwise, and the workers here are friendly. The first time, I got the Beef and Lamb Gyro Bowl over a bed of rice and Greek slaw, which is a mix of cabbage, carrots, lemon, olive oil, and red wine vinegar. My sides were gigante beans and shaved kefalotiri cheese, and my "sauces" were spicy feta (or tirokafteri) and baba ghanoush with some added pita for free. The bowl was just under $15 pre-tax or a bit over $16 post. The bowl was very large, but the gyro was a bit dry. The slaw and the various sauces helped, and the gigante beans were good as well, with the bit of salty kefalotiri having a nice texture compared to the usual feta. It was good overall and definitely worth the price point. The other time, I went with a Chicken Souvlaki Pita, which is a few bucks cheaper at $12.95 before tax. I asked the worker there to substitute the normal onions for pickled onions, which was done, and the pita otherwise came with some tomatoes and French fries inside, along with some tzatziki. This, by comparison, was a bit smaller, as expected, but I still enjoyed it, with the chicken being tender and juicy and much better than the gyro meat. The fries stayed crispy even after traveling, and the rest of the ingredients were of pretty good quality again. It was good overall and better than a similar wrap at Eons or in terms of closer places, Souvlaki GR. Outside of the slightly dry gyro, this place is a bit better than the many Chipotle-style chains in the surrounding area. I would/will go back when I am in the mood for decent Greek grub.

Loving the new Gyro Project location. Friendly staff and delicious food. I got the bowl with beef and lamb, fries (which are seasoned amazingly) with tsaziki and baba ganouj and arugula. They have a desert menu with fresh cookies, boxed cookies and froyo. You can build rewards with the app and it gets 20% off. The space is more hrs. And go with some tables and chairs. Thank you Amanda for your help.

What a lovely establishment, very friendly service and you're treated when you walk in. I love you can see them make your order and you can select want you want. The chicken/lamb gyro was good. Instead of fries on top I was able to substitute with Mediterranean salad. It was very filling and delish. It very clean and there are seats to dine in. I recommend this place.

This is my Birthday Weekend Celebration with my lovely daughters in New York. So, we got a gyro chicken and lamb sandwich. The BEST!!!!? The service was wonderful and atmosphere clean and beautiful! If in NY and near 569 Lexington, stop by.

    Froyo

This is a review for the froyo only: I absolutely love the froyo at the upper westside Gyro Project, it's actually my favorite in the city. But I was extremely disappointed by the difference between the east side locations froyo and the west side's. Every time I've been to The Gyro Project on the upper west side, the froyo has been creamy, smooth and a bright white. It was instantly apparent the upper east side's version was a stark comparison - it was icy, watery, a yellowish off white color and lacking the quality that I've come to know at the upper west side location. Such a let down, both establishments are less than a mile apart, but they have drastically different froyo experiences. Don't come here if you're looking for froyo, do yourself a favor and go to the upper west side location, it's truly worth the trek!

Veggie falafel bowl with beans and lemon potatoes

Had a lovely dinner last night at this new restaurant. I had a vegetarian bowl and it was delicious. What stood out the most, unlike other new similar restaurants, is that the individual ingredients stood out all on their own. For example, the lemon potatoes were perfectly tender with just the right amount of lemon. The giant beans also had a nice texture. The falafel, which I had baked instead of fried, was very satisfying . My favorite was the tzatziki sauce. It was really thick and tasted amazing with the warm pita. Also, nothing was overly salty, which was a welcome distinction. All in all, a great meal and a heck of a bargain for only $15. George and the rest of the crew were very pleasant. I almost want to go over now and grab a side of beans and tzatziki. Hmmmm.

Chicken souvlaki + pita + tzatziki

Have been to this location of The Gyro Project a ton of times and always have an amazing experience!! It's a takeout restaurant (or quick sit down) but the food is high quality and tastes so much better than other Greek places around the city (especially love the tzatziki, pita, and chicken souvlaki). You can also tell the staff really cares about the customers and food - Ignacio always takes care of my bf and I when we go and is eager to chat with everyone!! Pic of pita/chicken included (doesn't do it justice)

None of that here now with 4, albeit generous, seats facing the window: The expectation now is that during the lunch rush, you're going straight back to your desk or, if it's nice outside, sit outside (so a great use of the car-free section of Broadway). I had the Hot Chicken Plate: It was the special for folks with the SG app so I thought, why not. I picked double quinoa, blackened chicken, sweet potato and everything else you can see in my photo. The warm quinoa and the chicken were fantastic: You know SG is making a play for Chipotle's customers by offering what's basically a rice base with a chicken and salad topping. I was not a fan of the spicy broccoli which I found too salty. If you overload your plate with toppings it will easily go over the Chipotle price point: You'll know what's happening now that you have to enter it all in yourself on one of 3 tablets at the counter that divides the public from the kitchen. Can't wait to see the lunch crowd at the new spot!
