This weather got me craving warm soup so I stopped by Schnipper to check out their options! I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they offer soup testing. Appreciated the good variety of soup flavors and seasonal menus. They also have salads, sandwiches, and froyo. Out of the three soups we tried, I liked the spinach artichoke one the best. I liked the ratio of veggies to soup and how it was well seasoned. It was pretty thick with the cheese, so I enjoyed it but can see how others may prefer a lighter consistency. The corn bacon and the chicken pot pie were also good. The ratio of ingredients was solid with expected flavors. I dont recall that there was any black pepper around, but I think it would have been a delicious addition! The grilled cheese sandwich was pretty standard and hit the spot. Staff members were very patient with us. There is some counter seating with a few seats outdoors. I'd be interested in checking out their other soups! read more

Got the Tomato Cheddar Soup and some Grilled Cheese. The soup was delicious, super smooth, powerful flavor, I loved it. Grilled Cheese was alright I guess... much smaller than I expected and the cheese lowkey was not fully melted. Also tried the raspberry iced tea which was also alright. Btw you can sample the soups and I tried the Spinach, Artichoke, Cheddar soup and it was fire, I will be getting that next time. read more

Well, I'm recovering from jaw surgery and soup is the easiest thing to eat. I've wanted to get uptown for a while to try these soups. After a 20 minute walk from my surgeon's office, I left with 5 soups. My partner and I had to on the spot and brought the rest home because, again, jaw surgery. These are some of the best soups you're going to find in nyc. The store happened to be not crowded when we got there so we were able to order quick. The store is very clean and well organized. This is a far commute from Brooklyn but well worth it. I will be back! read more

Made my way to the upper east side for Hale and Hardy tomato soup v2.0 and it did not disappoint. I tried the Lentil chili, tomato cheddar, chicken Marsala, and dozen veggie soups. It came with a free side of sourdough or oyster crackers. While it wasn't quite to the level that the tomato chicken orzo from the old restaurant used to be, we both agreed that the tomato cheddar was the best of the bunch we tried. Especially dipping the sourdough in it. The chicken marsala and dozen veggie were also very good. The raspberry tea was ok- I wish it was a little sweeter. It's a small space but they do have some counter style seating with stools if you want to eat in. The guys working the counter were prompt and pleasant. read more

If you remember Hale and Hearty, then Schnipper's is the trendier, more colorful iteration from the same founders. As I was caught by surprise from yesterday's snow, I thought it was perfect soup weather and decided to give them a try. The space is cute and bright, with some counters available if you wish to have your soup on-site, otherwise it is very much grab-and-go. I loved that the door handles were ladles, and the staff were incredibly friendly and kind. I originally came for their chicken pot pie soup, but was told that there were only a handful of soups that were available "at temperature" due to some equipment malfunction so I settled on the tomato cheddar ($7), recommended to me by a staff member. It had an ultra umami base from the cheese and tomato and was the perfect viscosity too. I really liked that they offer soup samples for the indecisive. Every bowl of soup comes with a choice of sourdough or crackers. Overall, a fantastic new soup spot that I will definitely be returning to! read more

Long line but it moved quickly. There are only a few seats and you're probably not going to get one anytime around lunch. The chicken pit pie soup was good. The medium was enough for one person. It was $9, which I find very expensive for what you get. They only had two specialty soups and we went about 1:30pm. I'm not sure if they only had two for the day or if they sold out. I usually have great experiences ordering delivery from this place, but today was really disappointing. I ordered a custom salad with tuna salad as the protein, and it arrived with no tuna. Mistakes happen, so I called the restaurant--but the way the situation was handled was the real issue. From the start, I was met with attitude. I was told the tuna was "mixed in," even though it clearly wasn't. They passed me to someone else who also picked up with an attitude and questioned how I could possibly know there was no tuna. When I explained that I was literally looking at the salad and had already taken a bite, he sarcastically asked if he should "come over to my apartment to check." Eventually, he asked me to send a photo of the salad to his personal phone number, and only after seeing the picture did he say, "OK, now I believe you." The whole interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. I've been a loyal customer, but after this experience, I'm honestly not sure I'll be ordering again. read more

Realllllly overpriced for the portions. Got a soup and a tuna melt. But I don't understand how a tuna melt doesn't have any cheese in it?!?! What's melting on the melt then?! Soup was a solid "meh" lacking any real flavor. Take a pass it's just not worth the expense. read more

The soup is really good here and they had a wide variety. We've tried a bunch of different soup and they were all good. Fresh, hot, filling, and reasonably priced. They also offer salads, sandwiches and frozen yogurt. The staff is very patient and friendly, I had a great experience. This place is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I look forward to coming back. They offer some seating and the place was clean and brightly lit. I am giving only 4 stars because this place did not have a bathroom for customers which would be the only reason I hesitate coming here instead of another establishment. Most likely, I'll just have to order the soup to go. read more

Heads up. All the sandwiches are half. You order a turkey wrap and it's half. Nothing is written about getting a half sandwich and when I called the guy I spoke to me said I should have looked at the picture. I ordered delivery off of Yelp. Great soup! Price was pretty good, $16 for a medium soup and a sandwich. The sandwich was tasty but very small. The wholesome energy is why I would come back to over going to a chain like Panera. I also loved that they let you sample as many soups as you like, I personally only tried three, I would have done more but it seemed like I was being too much trouble. I am not running back but will be on my list of place to get soup when I really want! read more

Look, I love soup and i love that this place is dedicated to soup LOVE it I got the tomato cheddar upon what seems to be people's general recommendation and it was probably one of the better tomato soups I've ever had (I don't really like to tomato soup, but this was just better) I also got a tuna salad sandwich and it was like kinda a half sandwich but a) the price was adjusted accordingly and b) you know what? maybe I don't want a whole sandwich justice for soup, justice for tuna! place is cute, is in a cute neighborhoood, and I will be going again :) read more

This place was unbelievable. Saw an instagram video and noticed it was just down the block so went right away. Definitely going to make this place a staple. We got the tomato soup, chicken and vegetable with alphabets, the wrap, and the chicken and brie sandwich. The service was also amazing. Love this place and the atmosphere + staff are great! Loved the corn bacon chowder and the creamy tomato with chicken and pastina.

The soups here are terrific. But on several mid day visits the shop was out of the bread that is supposed to come free with the soup - despite still having bread for making sandwiches - and was also out of soups on the permanent menu. This is evidence of a poorly managed shop. It's a pity, because it will eventually lead to business failure despite having terrific soups. I'd hate to see that happen. So - this shop needs new management. read more

The rating is more based on price, not food. Half small simple sandwich and a small cup of soup for over $12 is unbelievable. Food isn't bad but nothing amazing. read more
