Wouldn't recommend it, they don't take reservations online or over the phone - not sure why in today's day and age - this makes it difficult to time and plan - especially with kids. They also don't update their website when they decide to make changes to the time they open - so expect that you might show up at random to find the lights off and a 8.5" x 11" paper on their door saying they are closed. Add all this to their pedestrian grade pizza and I recommend instead just ordering pizza or going to any of the other dozen restaurants close by where you won't encounter these same issues. read more

What can I say? Good food, good atmosphere, and good times. It's perfect for any luncheon or dinner with friends and family! So, why only four stars? Well, the service, quite frankly, isn't the best. The past three times I've been there, we've had problems. One time, our waitress was acting very irritable and seemed reluctant to serve us, despite a nearly empty restaurant. Our food took much longer than you would think at such a slow time of the day, and once we got it, she saw the steam at our table from afar and ran up to us, stammering and gasping, thinking we were smoking in the restaurant. WELL then... Another time, we had a party of ten, and they were, once again, irritable and reluctant to even SEAT us this time, again, at a slow time of the day. And ANOTHER time, we had a waiter that was definitely hungover. He forgot orders, made passes at my cousin (who was sitting next to her husband), and made a cringe-worthy joke about hitting me over the head with frozen artichoke dip. Hey, I'm up for a laugh, but food FIRST, jokes second. I wouldn't so much mind questionable service one time, but there definitely seems to be a trend at The Alibi. I had the orange roughy here once and was not a fan. I love seafood, but it tasted very briny and I couldn't cut down the fishiness with lemon. Had to throw out the leftovers. I would recommend you stick with their signatures - pizza and bread! The pizza dough is ever-so-slightly sweet (not TOO sweet, though). Just the perfect thickness. The toppings are fresh. The Alibi has been around for years. Their pizza and fish and chips were terrificl. The downside, then, was it looked like a dive inside and out. Back then to get carryouts one had to go to the back of the building into the kitchen (not the most pleasing thing to do) It has definitely improved through the years. The old building is now a modern building that looks very welcoming. The ambience is comfortable and attracts large groups, families, young daters. etc, There are large TVs to keep up with your favorite team. Sometimes the noice level is very loud and other times quiet, If the parking lot is packed and you want quiet for conversation, go elsewhere However, if you are looking for good pizza and/or fish and chips, the Alibi is the place to be. read more

The only reason I give it one star is because the waitstaff was very nice. However, this old and out of date restaurant was hardly worth the price. I had spaghetti which is fairly easy. The sauce was flavorless and the noodles were waterlogged. The caesar salad looked and tasted a week old. It's a shame, I used to go to the Alibi as a kid with my parents and the food was great. My company had a luncheon at Alibi's on Thursday this past week. We made reservations for 30 people from our department however the turnout was a little larger than expected. We understand that this can be an inconvenience and deeply apologize for it. However, there was a guy who was INCREDIBLY rude to the staff member that assisted with putting the luncheon together! Just AWFUL! Additionally, I learned that Alibi is known for its pizza well I believe they should stick to just that!!! I wasn't impressed with my salmon and baked potato. The salmon was flavorless and the baked potatoes was equally bland with the meager side of melted butter and sour cream. What happen to the other sides that typical accompany a nice backed potato?! The other preselected items - Eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti and the Lemon chicken with Alfredo... I saw the presentation and caught glimpses of my coworkers' faces and comments and they weren't impressed either. Other than that the salad and breadsticks were ok. Started out as a lovely evening with family. Spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was OK and so was the French onion soup. Breadsticks were fantastic, and turned out to be the best part of the meal! Ordered a pizza. It has a good flavor, and I can see why everyone recommends it....except ours wasn't quite cooked all the way through...it was a bit uncooked and doughy. All it needed was another couple of minutes in the oven. When we told our server about it, that is when everything turned awry. Lori, our server, who had been fine up until this point, flipped out when we told her about the pizza. She gave a huge sigh of annoyance and gave a stupid reason why the pizza wasn't cooked all the way, all with a wretched smirk on her face. She then took the pizza away. She didn't ask if we wanted it cooked longer or if we wanted anything else, just took it and disappeared. Then she dropped off the check and hawked us like a vulture on a carcass wanting us to pay. It was so obvious she just wanted us to leave, especially when she asked us "do you guys want anything else?" in the rudest manner possible. Totally bummed !! I work 70 hours a week and don't get a chance to dine out as often as I would like. I had time for a change. We have a friend visiting from Florida and I said let go to the "Alibi" we have been here before and it was ok. We thought let's give it another try. Our waitress (Sarah) was completely flustered and angry, she (Sarah)took our drink order and we asked to add a appetizer before we could finish ordering she was gone. I wanted another app. We thought she would be back shortly considering we ordered a pitcher of beer and a ginger ale. Took (Sarah)her 10 minutes and her attitude was worse. I asked her(Sarah) to add the fried mushrooms to the app order and she said I will take your order when I can write it down with a very angry tone. I explained I wanted to add it to the app order not our dinner order. She again said she wouldn't take our order until she could write it down with a bad attitude. I wanted to get up and leave. We were so disappointed. We ordered our dinners and asked if we could get the ham for the antipasto on the side. One of our guests didn't want ham. She again said in a quick and pissy tone all the meat comes on the side when she brought it the ham was mixed with the other meats. So disappointed. My husband and I went to dinner tonight, at the Alibi. It had been about six months since our last visit there and I was surprised that it was only a short wait until we were seated, since Friday nights are usually crazy there. I have always felt it was worth the wait since it has been my favorite spot for pizza for over 30 years. ( I remember going there when it was a little bar set off of Rochester Road. ) Tonight was the first night there that the pizza disappointed me. It was so heavy with gooey cheese that it was hard to dish up. The biggest disappointment, though, was the pepperoni. Alibi has ALWAYS had the BEST pepperoni...kind of crisp and sweet, smaller than the usual pepperoni. Tonight it was softer and not as tasty, having a different flavor altogether than what they have served on their pizza in the past. It wasn't bad pizza, but definitely different and not as good as what we have always had there. The antipasto salad was very good. The service was just okay. The waitress was kind of abrupt and the table was tiny, wedged between two others that were so close that it made conversation kind of awkward. I would caution Alibi that, between the rather impersonal service that we have seen develop over the years and the rigidity that seems to prevail in the management, they best be careful to not adopt a complacency about their reputation that keeps them from being at the top of their game. If the food starts to be less than what people are used to, then there are lots of other restaurants to choose from. I would hate to see that happen to Alibi. Tonight, it was mediocre. read more

First of all, I love pizza. I make it at home and I've owned a pizzeria in the past, so I know what I'm talking about. And, I love sauce. I'm from Italy, been making sauce all my life, the authentic way. So, again, I know what I'm talking about. The pizza is good - not more then that, not less then that. When trying a new pizza or pizza restaurant I stick with the basic: pepperoni and cheese. That way, the pizza sauce taste is not masked by the flavors from the other pizza toppings. The key to any pizza taste is the sauce. Period. To that end, the pizza crust was really good, no complaints there. If you are used to any chain pizzerias and have a favorite and think it's good, and then come here, you will think this pizza is terrific. And deservedly so. It is good. If you come here and order a pasta dish with any kind of tomato sauce on it, forget it. You might as well crack open a jar of Prego sauce from the local supermarket and toss it over pasta. If you are the kind of person who has been raised on store-bought pasta sauces or think Olive Garden serves Italian food, I'm sorry for your sheltered life. Where Alibi excel's in pizza, they fail miserably with pasta sauce. Would I come here again? Yes, for pizza. Two stars. read more

After all the hype about it the pizza, I found the Supreme/Deluxe/don't-remember-which-it-was just okay. Definitely not bad but just so... normal!? Give me something extra!! Call me a snob, but I'm not calling a pizza great unless it's got something special- some cornmeal or sesame dusting, some interesting toppings, or just some really fresh ingredients. This was plain! The crust, though soft, wasn't particularly flavorful. The cheese, the sauce, better than delivery but not worth the hype imho. Ive become more and more disappointed each time I come to Alibi, more so in the food. The "hot out of the oven" breadsticks are still great, but you have to ask for them, and pay for them. Otherwise your meal will come with the packaged ones. My chicken parm could have used another 10 min in the oven. My mother needs to order off the gluten free menu, and i feel bad for her because the options looked gross....and i was right. She expressed to the waitress she just wanted gluten free noodles and marinara. She received something else which we both tried and pushed the plate to the side, next to my wet chicken. The waitress didn't seem to care, which is fine, we were happy to pay for the meal. But if i were the owner or cook, id like to know that i was serving under par food. Horrible staff!! Started with I believe the manager who was seating. Gave us menu's..I am guessing the the one that was empty may have been for the specials?? Never ever said hi, or anything, just how many, seated us and left. Then came our, I guess, server? I was so afraid to ask her for anything because she got down right pissed when I did. So I sat and watched her go to other tables and fill their waters and take plates. We never got a refill on our water, nor even was asked until she came with the bill. I will NEVER go back there again. I have NEVER stiffed anyone in my life, but this service was the absolute worst and am sick of giving money to horrible wait staff. My son is a server and I know that they don't get paid much, but if you have a horrible attitude...get out of the business, please don't ruin patrons day out to enjoy and treat ourselves. Seems it is not like it use to be. Hostess took 4 Adults to a section with 4 different families all with small children. We arrived at 4pm early for my birthday so plenty of areas and tables available. She then said we had to wait. We order 2 pizzas. pizza crust under cooked and it had no sauce on pizza #1 and #2 pizza was perfect. Only difference was meat one had sausage and the other was pepperoni. This review is mostly based on nostalgia, but I really really like this place. It was a standard for my family growing up either dining in or carry out. The pizza is delicious - slightly sweet sauce, slightly sweet dough, great pepperoni. The antipasto and that salad dressing - still haven't found anything like it. The Alibi is rather unassuming, but it's one of the best restaurants in SE Michigan. I started coming here with my parents somewhat regularly since I was a pretty young kid despite there being dozens of restaurants closer, and now being on my own and living even farther away, I've been coming just as often. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, they make great drinks, and their food is pretty much the perfect American food...nothing too fancy or unique, but delicious and filling and everything is fresh. Despite coming here for so many years, my last trip was the first time I've actually tried their pizza, and that is a crime. It definitely deserves its reputation for having delicious pizza. Once again, nothing in particular that makes it special or unique in any way--just fresh and generous ingredients with delicious cheese, sauce and dough. They also have the best french onion soup you will ever eat, and make sure you get your breadsticks--they alone are worth the trip! If you're not in the mood for pizza, one of my favorite dishes is their tortellini romano...deceptively filling and very delicious. The only thing preventing me from giving it full five stars is the wait staff can be a little hit-or-miss and their salads are rather sad (but their house dressing is fantastic). Make sure you come on an empty stomach, and be prepared to wait if you want to eat after about 5:30...they're always packed and don't take reservations! read more

While im sitting here in this freezing waiting room I decided to right this review. I came in with a party of 9 with intentions of puting us on the waiting list, and come to find out I can't do that unless the whole party is here, why on earth do they do that? Their waiting room isn't even big enough for 9 of us to wait in. I think this is an extremely dumb rule! The wait is 35 minutes so now I get to wait here until everyone gets here, then wait another 35 minutes. Their food is good, but not that good! read more

Ordered large order for take out including 2 large salads. When I got home each salad was half full. Couldn't split 2 large salads between 8 adults; only fed 4 and this was supposed to be an appetizer before pizzas. Next time make sure a large salad isn't a small in a large container. read more

Worst dining experience in a long time. First off, I have eaten here several times in the past and aside from the extremely strict 'no seating until everyone is hear rule'. I usually have a good experience. Today they sat two of us in an awkward bench /chair table between two larger parties, could not even talk across table, it was load from both sides. Our waitress was not available at the start so another took drink order, not a problem. When I waitress did show, she said - what's your order, nothing else. Brought out Greek salad, looked grey, it had so much dressing on it, was gross. Pizza was ok, half pineapple & ham, half pepperoni and sausage. Waitress did not serve either salad or pizza. When do, waitress dropped so boxes on table along with bill and left. Other waitress around boxed up extras. On the bill they charged full price for all four toppings (ordered 2 on each half) have never seen this before - waitress said that is just how they do it. Anyway. Just had a really bad experience and wanted to make sure others were aware of the double billing when ordering split toppings. Hope your experience is better. They've been well known for the pizza and have been a famous destination in the area since I can remember. Finally thought I would give them a try. I was not disappointed. Since my first prelim visit, I've been back 6 more times and love it. I have yet to try anything else besides their pizza and Greek salad but it's all I really need to write this review.
