We would not come back with kids. We sat down and the seats had what appeared to be water on them. Service was slow and it took a long time for the food to come even though we placed our orders right away. Kids Mac is a small portion of Easy-Mac and doesn't come with anything else. Waitress stopped by no more than a handful of time despite the long waits all night. Our drinks never got refilled. I remembered their breadsticks used to be pretty good but somehow we must've gotten the skinny version tonight or they changed the recipe, they were dry and tasted like paper. House salad, or I should say lettuce with croutons, might as well be frozen. Spaghetti was way over cooked. So, get this. My wife's family was been frequenting Alibi, on and off, for over 30 years. When I met and married my wife in 2008, Alibi was one of the first places she wanted to take me. I was duly impressed with the food and service. Over the last ten years we have enjoyed takeout pizza on a regular basis. All good, right? A few months ago, my wife's step-mother passed away in Florida, leaving her father alone. That precipitated our decision to sell the house in Rochester Hills and move to Florida. We are planning to drive out of town this week, and so the other night we decided to order Alibi pizza "one last time." I called and placed the takeout order. On the way over to pick up the pizza, we had a sudden impulse to eat at the restaurant, instead of bringing it home. You know, to enjoy the ambiance one last time. My wife questioned whether they would allow us to send the ordered pizza from the back of the house to a table. I could not imagine why they would object. We entered and was greeted by the receptionist. I explained that we had called in a takeout order but decided to eat in the restaurant, starting with a nice appetizer and having the pizza as our entree. The young lady told us that it was against company policy to do what we were asking. After a few words back and forth, I asked to speak with the manager. He reaffirmed the young lady's position, that company policy prohibited what we were asking for. I explained that we had been frequent guests for over 30 years. My wife mentioned that she recalled going to Alibi when it was just a shack, a bar shack. I appealed to the manager, that we were leaving Michigan permanently, and just wanted to eat at Alibi one last time. The manager was unmoved. I asked him to help me understand WHY what we were asking for was such a problem. He explained that what we were asking for, to be seated and to eat the takeout pizza we had called in, was tantamount to "cutting in line." He explained that Alibi did not have a call-ahead reservation system. If he allowed us to "pull this prank," he said with an attitude, "we would have to let everyone do it." To all of this, I remarked, "The lobby is empty. It is mid-week and there doesn't appear to be anyone waiting for a table." I then bluntly asked, "how long is your wait for a table, right now?" I directed this question to the young lady, as the manager stood there watching, and she answered, "there is no wait." I then turned back to the manager and gave him a look as if to say, "so, what's the issue?" He said, "I' sorry. We cannot seat you." I told him that if I weren't such a nice guy, I could have simply come in, said nothing about having ordered the takeout, and then, AT THE TABLE, ordered the very same pizza combination we had ordered for takeout. But instead, I tried to be nice. He remained unmoved. I was about to say, "you know what? Forget the takeout order, then!" and then let Alibi eat the cost of the pizza. But my wife didn't want to make a scene. And she sure as hell didn't want to dine in So, I walked to the back, paid for the takeout pizza, and we left. Never to return again. As a point of reference, the next night we went to another local favorite, Kruse and Muer. We ordered our two favorites. My macadamia encrusted salmon was incredible, and my wife very much enjoyed her shirmp/lobster combo. But she noted to me that it was a bit oily. She tipped the plate and the oil pooled to one side. When we were about to pay our bill I happened to mention to our server that my meal was incredible, and my wife's was very flavorful, but a little on the oily side. I was just meaning to give meaningful feedback as a customer, nothing more. Less than two minutes later, a manager approached our table and apologized for the oily meal. She said that she had taken the charge off of our bill. I reacted immediately and insistently, that I did NOT mean for her to adjust the bill. My wife chimed in, that she had eaten the entire meal, and it was delicious. Still, the manager refused to compromise. She insisted that good will is most important to the restaurant and if a customer is not completely satisfied then they consider that a failure. I mention this episode at Kruse and Muer as a contrast to Alibi where the manager would not even seat us, because we had made the horrible mistake of ordering takeout and then changing our minds. And I have now taken 20 minutes out of my last days in Rochester Hills to write this negative review. By the way, this is the FIRST time I have ever written a Yelp review anywhere!! read more

We hadn't been to Alibi in a awhile and my husband was really missing their pizza. He told me he wanted ALIBI PIZZA for his birthday so we had a party of 13 today to celebrate his and one of our daughter in law's birthdays. We ordered appetizers, several pizzas and some people ordered other meals from the menu. Food was great, service was outstanding, I would like to give a shout out to our wonderful server, Jeanne! She was amazing, she helped by giving recommendations, kept everyone's drinks filled, plates cleared, was very personable and professional. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, especially for a large group. We will continue to visit Alibi and strongly recommend this establishment as we have never been disappointed with our meals there. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up! read more

This place never disappoints! The staff is always pleasant and I've never had a bad meal here. We popped in for lunch today, I had the pecan encrusted salad, he had the bleu cheese, walnut salad. Been going to the Alibi since it was a little shack right off of Rochester Road back int he 70's. We lived right down the street our whole lives so we could walk to the Alibi and get pizza. The pizza used to be so much better than it is now. We hardly go there anymore since the new building has been built. I consider their hostesses at the front door RUDE and the food(Except the fish and salad) mediocre now. It is a shame the old place was torn down because honestly you could not get a better pizza from the old place. I wouldn't recommend it anymore to go to eat there. Service is terrible and food is mediator! I thought i would give this place a second chance but I very much regret it. The waitstaff failed to acknowledge us from the moment we walked in the door. After 10-15 minutes waiting at the table our waitress finally came. Then it took an additional 15 mins to get our our drinks. I never waited so long to be waited on and ordering our food. It wasn't like this place was busy at all. There were 4 other tables with patrons so I would expect to get immediate service. I would NOT recommend this place. Fairly dark, almost country club style building, other guests seemed to be predominately older couples, families and large groups - at least 2 groups of 12+ people in the night we were there. Tasty bread brought to the table and we both order the fish and chips. What came looked promising, nicely cooked coated chips (fries) and decent size fish portions let down a little by the batter being a little soggy, probably the frying oil was not quite hot enough. We will certainly give it another visit. In response to the comment by the owner, firstly I appreciate you taking the time to read and reply to the comments. As far as raising the issue with the batter texture, we did not have the time that night to wait for another order, I still enjoyed the meal and as I said in the original review we will certainly come in again. We had noticed the restaurant when stopped on Rochester Rd in slow traffic but to be honest felt it looked more like a private club rather than a public restaurant but we were given a good recommendation by friends (we are new to the area) and the Yelp reviews were also encouraging so we thought that it was worth trying. read more

I am giving the Alibi of Troy a rating of 3 instead of 1 because the service received at the shower was fantastic but the manager, hosting staff and other employees were horrible. Here is my experience: Gave my daughter a shower and she wanted it at the Alibi in Troy because the food is good and they have a back room for private parties. I was told the time for the shower would be 12-3 which was perfect. When I asked when I could come in to decorate I was told at 11:40-20 minutes before. Who in the heck can decorate for 50 people in 20 minutes? I was told I couldn't get in until the tables were set and chairs put around. Ok, then why couldn't this be done earlier? The manager was very snippy with me. I arrived a little earlier hoping things were set up and I could get started and was told I couldn't. I got in the room at 11:45 and guests were arriving. They had to wait with their gifts in the waiting area, crammed in with the regulars, with their gifts. I was so stressed out! When the room was finally ready and I invited the guests in, no one helped them with their coats or gifts. I was so embarrassed. The manager was gabbing with the hostesses, others were standing around, no one opened the door for our guests, helped with gifts or anything. So very lazy! The only thing good I can say is that our two waitresses were fabulous, the food was okay and there was a private back room to host this. The other thing was that we had to be cleaned up and out by 3:30 or we would be charged for additional time. This was in the back of my mind the whole time and we were out before 3:30. I will not recommend this place to anyone and have no desire to go back. Good riddens Alibi! If you want to have a private party, Picanos down the road from Alibi will let you in as early as 10:00, will help with your set up, has more flexibility with menu but their private room is in the middle of the restaurant enclosed in glass so not as private. The other negative about Alibi is that I had several children under the age of 10 who would have liked an alternative menu and I couldn't get one. Great Pizza and other food. Service is good. BUT, they have an idiotic policy of not seating groups until everyone is present. This makes sense if other people are waiting for tables. If they are not full it makes people wait standing in lobby while tables set empty, that is the idioticy. First and foremost I've been a longtime customer of 40 years. Been going here with my family since it was the small building. I have always loved the pizza here. And the fish & chips have been a family favorite as well. What is going on with the pizza? It's been so inconsistent lately (4-5 months). Probably ordered 6-7 carry out pizzas in that time frame and honestly only had ONE that has been the fabulous pizza I know it can and should be. I travel from Macomb Twp and pass many other pizza places, construction on Hall Rd (Lord help me) to order Alibi pizza. Last nights pizza was a sad misrepresentation of an Alibi pizza. The crust was so soggy, I literally had to tear my pizza away from the pizza box to eat it. There was no way you could pick up a slice. No cornmeal on the bottom of the crust anymore. Just sad doughy undercooked crust. Big disappointment. Where is quality control? Who is in charge of the food? Does anyone care? I've brought it to the attention of the manager the 2nd time I had this issue (I chalked the first bad one up to bad night--it happens) because it was so strange to me after years of consistently great pizza, things have changed. New pizza cooks? Who is training them? Who checks what they are doing? Good Lord please get it together! I don't want to find another pizza place! So very disappointed don't go for the prime rib served Fri Saturday Sunday. Went on Friday they were out. Tried again on Sunday called to see if they had it the girl said they did. We both ordered had salad the prime came out so well done it was rock hard and dry as cardboard. Absolutely excellent customer service. I ordered a small pizza for carry out and when I arrived it was not ready. I don't mind waiting, but the staff was so attentive and apologetic about the mishap, they ended up giving me a medium pizza for the same price. Great pizza, decent atmosphere and quality service. I have only been there once, but had a pleasant dining experience overall. The pizza is really good; the best I have had in the Detroit Metro. The atmosphere is perfect for a place like this; a complete mix of old and young, family and friends. Some may classify it as noisy, but I would say it had the embracable din of popular pizza joint on a Friday night. The service was respectable and our food was delivered in a very timely fashion. A place I've been going to for over 10 years as a kid, and continues to be one of my favorite places! Pizza is by far, amazing, the place I like to drive 20 minutes to get to. The sauce is quite sweet, but the crust is delicious. And Huge slices! My mother always gets the spaghetti, which is this huge bowl, with tons of cheese, all wonderfully golden brown. I was really surprised at the reviews when I saw them on here. I love Alibi and have for years. I've been coming to alibi for over 15 years and don't have anything bad to say about it. It's might not be some peoples cup of tea, for the whole family dining experience but overall this place has great food for a good price. Their pizza is the best. I literally drop from Ann Arbor to Troy just for their pizza and greek salad. The salad dressing is amazing and I wish they sold it by the bottle! I constantly always buy bigger than i need pizza so i can take the left overs home for the next few days. When ordering a salad a small is big enough to be your entire meal and then some so watch the sizes. Also some of the hostessing and wait staff sometimes have a stick up their butt, but overall very friendly. Great place to visit during the holidays too because of all the decorations. read more

Obviously this restaurant is known for it's pizza more than anything however it should be known they carry quite an extensive menu. And these other entrees are not cheap going from a range of approx. $11 to $15. The quality of their perch was suspect as it was soggy not crispy and contained a slight old taste (perch should have a mild flaky taste this was a bit fishy). Moreover the jumbo shrimp while decent size where very greasy and just average in taste. Fettuccine Alfredo came extremely salty and when asked for a replacement it was then absent of any salt. I will say one bright spot is their bread sticks which are quite good and clearly the base for their pizza success. Overall stick with pizza ONLY if you go to Alibi and you should be fine. My last thoughts are decent friendly service, dark, poorly lit environment with an odd layout of tables and chairs where you are seated closer to other patrons than your own company making conversations difficult. read more

I was missing an order in my carry out. Frustrating, but mistakes happen. Called to let them know. Their response (yes by management) "two orders were placed in the oven and they are both gone. You should check your order again, the mistake was not on their end." Yeah, I checked my order. Two people, one has food, one doesn't. I admit I love their breadsticks.....with the salad dressing I'm not allowed to have unless I order a salad. But I don't need them. This was my last Alibi order. Long over due. Love, love, LOVE the Alibi. I have been going here for 10 plus years now. The food is always good, great even. The pizza is amazing. Especially when you put some of the house Greek dressing on it. The service is hit or miss. If you are a regular you will notice there is almost always a help-wanted sign in the front. There is a reason for that. Management expects that their waitstaff spend minimal time with their tables and turn them around as quick as possible. If you get a server that takes good care of you and is personable, don't expect to see them around there too long. If you can overlook mediocre service for great food then I highly recommend this place. I have been to Alibi's three times with the first being on a recommendation. It is a little bit of a drive, so not very convenient. The first two times the pizza was very good and worth the extra drive. Last night I ordered by phone at home and it takes about 30 minutes to get there. I figured it would be close to ready when I arrived, due to the 30 minute travel time. It is a little chaotic in the pick up area of the restaurant. I pay for the pizza and the lady looks, but cant find the pizza. She says "its not ready yet". I move out of the way of the chaos and wait. After about 30 minutes, someone notices my ticket still hanging and they begin the search. One of the guys says "Just make it again and fast". They then find the box in a different part of the counter. Somebody says ," I forgot it" Someone else, "how did you forget it?". They call my name and hand me the box. As I walked out I felt the bottom of the box and it was cold. When I arrived home I placed the pizza in the oven at 200, as I usually do, to warm up. Pizza returned to hot state, but was under cooked. It was my choice to complain and this is why I didn't. I was investing 1 hour and 30 minutes into this pizza, if I complained when i noticed the box was cold. I am not going to add another 30 minutes on to the time, for them to make another. I am definitely not going to call back after noticing the under cooked pizza and go through another hour to 1 1/2 hours to get another pizza. The pizza under cooked was about as good as the delivery I get around my house. My thought, when the person found the pizza in its unusual place, a red flag of something wrong should have started waving. Someone stating "I forgot it", should have indicated something wrong. The missing pizza should have been a clue. After those three things, the person handing me the box, probably should have checked the warmth. When the pizza is good, it is worth the trip, for me. Went early with a group of 8 and was greeted warmly by the hostesses, who were very accommodating. Just as we were seated, a rude manager forced us to move. He didn't ask, he told. We are still not sure why -- the hostesses accommodated us nicely in exactly the spot where I asked to be seated -- he grabbed our menus and told us to move because "this is where I want to seat you."
