It was my first time coming here kind of by accident. Went in right as they opened and there was a decent happy hour menu from 4-6. The beer selection was pretty good a ton of options on tap that I don't usually see. Mixed drinks were good as well , especially liked the whiskey sour. The other one I tried was a blended mango margarita and it was just perfect not overly sweet. Also tried calamari and it was tasty but found the portion to be slightly small for the price. Service was super friendly and orders came out really fast.
Went here twice in the month of November for two different birthday celebrations and only had beers. The first time I went was on a Saturday evening without reservations and for a party of 12! I was sure that we were not going to get in, but to my surprise they had a table available on their bottom floor! Their bottom floor has a bar where you can order drinks and food. I did not order any food because we just went there to grab some beers, they have an extensive craft beer selection as well as cocktails. I would recommend this place for a laid-back evening with your friends to grab beers and casual meal. The second time I went there, I sat upstairs which was also pretty nice! They have dim lighting making it feel pretty intimate. I didn't get up getting any food that time either, but I'm sure of going back there again and order their meals. Overall, both the times I went the service was fast and friendly.
Really friendly service, casual dining that's great for happy hour, and great beer selection, Came here on a Friday night and it wasn't hard to get a table. Spicy mango margarita was potent and yummy, and the poutine was delightful! Best poutine I have had in CA so far. Also, the wings were very yummy - could have used a thicker sauce (but that's coming from a TX girl) but had such a great vineagar-esque zing to it. Would come here again!
If you're looking for cool vibes, delicious food and amazing beer selection - go here! I had the pretzel bites and damn they were great. everytime i come there's a new selection of beers --so good, it's hard to choose. Now for the ambiance, it's one of the coolest vibes in town! It's railtown meets gastown, feels like you're in a movie or something. Great service too!
We had a classic alibi burger which was pretty good. The burger looks small but it is pretty filling. The rigatoni rose blush was excellent; highly recommend. We also had the crème brûlée which was OK. The place is trendy and plays music on the background. Street parking seems decent. The service was very attentive and professional.
Big fan of this place, mostly for the great craft beers. The food is pretty good also - I honestly wouldn't recommend coming here just for the food if you don't plan on drinking simply because there are plenty of restaurants around that have more interesting menus, but I also wouldn't recommend skipping the food if you want to come here. The food menu here is relatively small, but they have some good choices. I've tried the veggie burger and stir fry. The housemade veggie patty was quite good and all the toppings went well with it. The stir fry was also tasty, but too oily for my taste and a little heavy on the noodles. Some people seem to be crazy about the fries, but they're just basic shoestring fries to me. I also had a dessert platter some time ago that I don't remember much about other than everything on it was delicious. The beer though! Before COVID they had a ridiculously massive tap beer list and it seems to have shrunk a little, but it's still a lot and I find it helpful that they organize it by type of beer. Every beer I've tried here has been the among the best I've had. There's a little bit of something for everyone and if you're not sure what to get the staff seems happy to make recommendations. Flights are popular, but if you don't want a whole flight they let you order individual drinks in "mini" 5 oz portions, which is good for me because I don't like to drink a ton but still want to sample different things. The vibe and service are both great. The restaurant has an open, sort of industrial interior, with an upstairs at street level and more seating and another bar in the basement (the basement is surprisingly comfortable). As of my visit yesterday (September 2021) they still have safety dividers up between tables which made me much more comfortable with the seating arrangements. The staff has been very professional every time. Last night, our waitress was generally pretty attentive but somehow difficult to flag down only when we really needed something, but otherwise she was good and I've only had positive experiences with the staff in the past.
Came here for post dinner drinks. The interior was spacious with a warm, cozy vibe. Service can be a bit slow but the food and drinks were on point. We got the beer tasting flight, which was an interesting concept with four different beers in small glasses. I only ended up liking 2/4 of mine but you can definitely ask the server to customize the drinks to your preference. The highlight was actually the dessert! They only have one dessert on their menu but make it sooo delicious. The lava cake was incredibly smooth and decadent, and paired along so well with the bourbon ice cream (I wish I can buy this in pints, so good). Would definitely come back again for this dish!
Reminiscent of a beer hall with the long benches in the main dining area. There's also a downstairs area accessed via a spiral staircase where you'll find more cushioned, intimate seating, a stage, and another bar. Not sure if they serve the entire tap list down there though. A little disappointed that they did not have poutine on their food menu, but their tap list was quite extensive. It might have made up for the lack of a decent small bites selection except for the fact that nearly everything I asked for on the sours menu was 'out' or came with an annoying disclaimer next to the beer of 'UP NEXT'. Some tell you when they'll be released (most on Friday), but others do not, so what's the point of even listing it? Anyways, I did like their flight deal of any 4 beers in 4oz tasters for $12 (plus tax). They also have a rating system for each beer with special illustrations for its sourness, darkness and hoppiness. I wasn't so impressed with 3 of my beers, but the generically named 'flanders red imperial souuuur' from Storm Brewing was decent. It claimed to be the strongest, darkest, most sour beer on the menu and it lived up to it. A mix of jammy and dry black currant with notes of licorice and caramel created quite the sour bomb. I was seeing stars which deserves some applause. It should be noted that they had a vast selection of hoppy beer. Stouts and ciders barely make it onto the menu though. I get the sense that this is the gathering space for plenty of rare beer releases. Proud to see that they were set to showcase a Modern Times beer in the near future even if that beer was only 'Blazing World'. Solid, late night spot to chill at and if you're lucky, you might be rewarded with some rare finds.
Such a great room, but be ready to sit with others (reminds me of the roundhouse at the top of Whistler..back in the day). Classy...but not too classy. ;). The staff set the tone. Service is soooooooo welcoming its almost unvancouver-like . Cocktails are excellent. Kitchens staff are "former" Ask For Luigi.

Bravo Alibi Room. The best burger I have found in Vancouver. The bun slightly teary on the top and like butter in the middle. The burger it self, cooked and seasoned to perfection (It almost tastes like there's diced ham in it). Go with the works and you'll get mushrooms, onions sauteed with cheddar and smoked onion mayo. I only know of a handful of burgers that would compare. It's AB-SO-LUTE-LY Stunning. You know when you go to a wing place and you think you will try something different than traditional wings, and regret it as soon as you bite in? Not the case here. Perfect crunch and the garlic, herb, chili and honey sauce left me thinking about them till morning. Other dishes I've tried and were very good are the Paté, Pork Tenderloin and the Tofu and Veggie Stirfry. Finally the beer. The sampler is perfect for people who may not know what they like. Perhaps your like me and like all beer and would like to try as many as possible. Either way you win. Of course I am lying about all of this, because I was never there. You can ask my waiter. read more

A buzzing spot with a gregarious crowd and chill atmosphere specializing in craft beer along Alexander in Gastown. With its fabulous selection, it's a clear winner for craft beer lovers! And for those looking to experience the craft beer scene in Vancouver, it's a great unpretentious intro spot. If you're a craft beer newb (like me), I highly recommend trying the craft beer samplers - 4 sample beers (4 oz./each) for $9. You can select your beer from a menu page or you can tell your servers what you prefer (sweet, bitter, hoppier, light, etc). The knowlegable servers will tell you about the beer, its flavours and origin. With its loud dimly-lit setting with long picnic tables, comforting pub food, and a great selection of craft beer, it's perfect for groups of friends and craft beer lovers to enjoy. Similar to: The Diamond and Steamworks (atmosphere-wise), and to St. Augustine's (craft beer selection wise). read more

My favorite spot for beer and bar food I've been to this place a couple times. The beer selection is amazing. A lot of the food items are beer-related, which is really awesome. I really love their skinny fries. This is a great pace to end up at for a night out. Your belly will thank you:) read more

Amazing selection of beers. I've also had great service every time I go here and enjoy the atmosphere in the restaurant. Food selection isn't amazing, but the star of the show is definitely the quality and quantity of beers they have on tap. read more

Ha! No line up on Sunday for brunch (around 1pm-ish) enabled me to finally give this place a try. Usually the wait I've seen has prompted us to go elsewhere for the evening but we got in and they lived up to the expectations. Brunch: I had the salmon benny and the hollandaise was creamy and heavenly (just how I like it). The wife had the broc and bacon and cheese scramble with a side of hollandaise and was mmmmm-ing and yumming the whole way through. The beer was pretty good but we had to ask for 1st, 2nd and then 3rd choices before we finally chose something they actually had on tap (a little bit confusing). Lots of yummy looking plates though and dinner will have to be given another try soon. read more
Alibi Room is like a warm blanket that you never want to leave...ever! I've been to this place countless times and it has never failed to impress me in terms of service, local (and very current) beer selection, and amazing food. The atmosphere is relaxed. There are no judgements here, just a bunch of people enjoying their beer of choice and having a good time! This time around we opted for a flight of beer, chicken wings, and their Pemberton Farms all natural beef burger. The meat quality and execution of the burger was perfect. Juicy and meaty with nothing fancy to distract you from the explosion of meaty goodness. Chicken wings were 5/5 on crispiness and flavour. Oh and if you get the chance, try the pork belly sandwich. You'll thank me later! read more
The place itself is so nice with lots of space and light. Love the ambience and love the staff. The service was really great. Went here for brunch and got to try the corned beef hash, salmon Benny and a French toast with pears. Everything was great, but the corned beef hash with eggs stood out and overshadowed the rest. We also got a flight of beers which you should do and bloody Mary's which you should also try as they're different. I would love to come back here and try other items on the menu, but for now let me dream about the corned beef hash... read more

I would not have thought of coming to the Alibi Room for brunch, but I'm happy we stumbled across it when the Belgard Kitchen was full! Their Salmon Eggs Benny was easily the best Benny I've had locally. Thick, velvety Hollandaise sauce with a perfect poaches egg and not-too-salty smoked salmon. The capers and dill cream went hand-in-hand with the benny. Reasonable amount of roasted taters and sliced orange on the side. I enjoyed my bottomless pressed coffee, as well. Quite spacious seating without long waits, even at noon on a Saturday! read more

Been here on a couple of occasions, but most recently I came with a group of friends for C's birthday celebration. I arrived later after work so when I got their most people had ordered already. Regardless I immediately ordered since I looked at the menu online before hand and got the cheese steak sandwich and.... A beer or some sort (cannot for the life of me remember, not much of a drinker). I can say I had a good experience overall! The staff is very inviting and attentive! If you're ever in the area *waiting for a table for Ask for Luigi* you definitely should stop by for a brew! (+) Friendly staff (+) Vast selection of beers! (+) Pretty solid food selection (-) Can have long wait time for a table (-) Fries were verrrry salty, but then again that may be on purpose to go with the beers. read more

Really excellent beer selection! And the food was delicious too. The major downside was the level of noise in this place on a Friday night. It was so loud I couldn't speak to my dinner date across the table. I'd come back for the beer on a Tuesday afternoon, but that's it. read more

The place is really nice and they have a great variety of beers. I was here on a rainy Wednesday around 5:30pm and it was quite busy. There were a few tables left so I didn't have to wait. It took some time for someone to come take our orders and quite some time for the food to be prepared. I tried their wings which were okay. There was too much vinegar. I prefer regular bar food. I recommend their beer flights! read more

Huge beer selection and great food! My friend and I each did flights of beer and were pretty good. We didn't know what to get and our waiter gave us great suggestions on what to try. We got the beer salad and stir fry after reading other reviews. The food was also pretty good. I liked the ambience to this place. It wasn't too busy when we got there or left but is a pretty big space. We didn't have to wait or anything and service was good! I'd say it's a must stop if you're a beer lover! read more

Great spot. Amazing beer selection - it's basically heaven. Prices decent for this type of place. I had a burger which was great and decent value - burger plus huge portion of fries, plus coleslaw for $15 (can you tell I've gotten used to crazy Toronto prices). I'm taking off 1 star cause the service just isn't at a 5 star level. Some confusion and lack of communication from the hostess as we were being seated, and took awhile for waters to be refilled, etc. I'll still be going back though!! read more
Went for brunch and loved it -- a nice casual, quiet bar with funky staff and patrons. Some people sat outside while others stayed indoors happily reading their morning paper with breakfast. The menu offered lots of delicious options and I had the eggs benedict with brie and pesto. A flavourful, delicious way to start the day. Great beer on tap too ;-) read more
This place is pretty rad. Never came here before until a friend suggested to come here for a drink. The place is pretty close to Cordova St like right in the downtown area. The place has a large space and the beers are really good. So many types and flavors to try I don't even know how to describe. First time experience it was pretty awesome, despite at the time I went had to wait for 30 min to get a seat... but I guess it was a Saturday night and prime time to go for drinks. Definitely will go back and try some new drinks. A pretty hippster location indeed. read more
After dinner, I was eager to grab a couple drinks so I found the Alibi Room on my handy dandy Yelp app. My Google maps informed it it was just a short walk down the street. As we were walking, I thought we were getting lost since the neighborhood started to look a little sketchy. It looked like we were walking into an empty industrial zone and was about to give up the hunt and head back, but then I saw a guy in the distance. He looked like he was going somewhere so we just kept walking a little further and we finally found it. The Alibi Room was filled with people. We couldn't even grab a seat at the bar so we got a tiny little table in the restaurant. I headed down to the restroom and there were a bunch of people at tables over there too. It's definitely a popular spot where people go to get their drink on. Rightfully so, since they've got 50 taps of imported and craft beer, wine and cocktails. Since I was on vacation, I enjoyed sitting there with my drink and people watching. Vancouver Canadians are very much like Americans. Bummer, I was hoping to see some massive culture change, but nope. Unfortunately, we only stayed for a little while, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Alibi Room. It definitely is a great bar scene with a stellar atmosphere. read more

Well known for great beers and a late night watering hole, this place is also a killer brunch spot on the weekends. I challenge you to find a better eggs benny for $12.50 anywhere in the city. Hollandaise sauce was bang on and eggs were perfect. Good size portions for the price point. Only critique is that the potatoes could have used more seasoning. Nice little patio. Service was laid back but still attentive. Smaller brunch menu but quality. Went at 11:30am on a saturday and it wasnt too busy. A few places only blocks away had line ups already. Skip them and walk the extra 5 minutes. read more

Overview - A home away from home for beer enthusiasts! Just order up a flight of beers for $12 with tax (the staff will be more than happy to offer up suggestions of their favorites). Beer Selection - 5/5 stars The best beer selection I've seen in Vancouver so far. I can't comment on the food because the kitchen is closed from 3-5. Staff / service - 5/5 stars. Fast, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about their selection. Location / Venue - 4/5 stars. Open and spacious with a small outside patio. The street doesn't have much going for it, and you might pass the place if you weren't looking for it. read more

Great beer selection, try the Creepy Uncle Dunkel. Cranberry saison was interesting. The burgers and bison steak sandwich were good, but the beer was definitely the highlight. read more

This spot reminded me a lot of some of my favorite beer bars in Chicago. The fantastic and extensive beer list is definitely the highlight, as I love trying something new - especially while on vacation. The aesthetic of the place was simple and elegant, but not uptight. And service was friendly and helpful when helping us split our check and using our cards. The food was well done and tasted great, and the whole menu was a great complement to the beers they had on tap. read more
This is a hard one to write. It's a social beer hall in spirit, and it feels exactly like it should, from the location, the space, the menu, all the way on down to the construction materials (lots of raw wood and iron pipes) and even the location. The staff was great and really friendly, and the food all looked really good even though we didn't try any. Their beer list is cool too, a fine-print, double-sided giant load of local beers! Plus many of them are hand-stamped for Hop level, which was a nice touch :) Tasters are four beers, not bad pours for a taste either, at $12 Can., which is definitely the route I'd go to sample the atmosphere. Buuuut, I give them a ding on this review because their menu was 80-90% Pale Ales and IPA's. I get that those are the rage and the most popular, but come on! It could be half Hoppy ales and have *plenty.* I was originally going to be more generous, but then I went a half a dozen other local beer halls in Vancouver, and every one of them did better with variety, even if they mostly weren't close to the same volume. To make the point, I was looking to try Stouts, Porters, Strong Ales, Black IPAs, etc. And on their enormous, epic menu I found exactly one of each of these things. Four beers darker than an Ale. FOUR. Not only that, but one of them (the Stout) they straight-up admitted was "terrible." AFTER I'd ordered it in my taster :/ aw well, I probably would have tried it anyway (but man it was bad...) It really sucks to write that part, but since the experience is all about the beer... Well, that part of it fell a little flat. Still, absolutely top-notch service and every other aspect! read more
