They overcooked it and it was so chewy. You can't overcook lamb! Then I asked for a refund and they said they'll just remake it. Big mistake, the small ones were overcooked and chewy. The big ones were a hit or a miss. One was good, but the rest were absolutely raw. So raw that it was chewy. So the lamb chops were just bad. read more

I don't think I've seen such great balance of flavors within the rice and all of the sides. I've been trying to eat more Mediterranean style, with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I decided to try Ali Baba for a delivery lunch since I was busy that day. I ordered the chicken kobideh lunch special, along with three cheese sambusek, and mango juice. Everything was SO delicious and flavorful, and I felt very satiated with the amount, and even had some leftovers for lunch the next day. Had a very disappointing meal there, yesterday. The Baba ghanoush was burnt and bland. The pita bread was ice cold and clearly bought from a grocery store days ago, as it was stale. The Gyro meat was dry and served in hunks. There was almost no lettuce or tomato included and a paltry amount of Tzatziki sauce. Stopped in with my daughter while checking out the Flat Irons in Boulder around 3:15-3:30pm. Place was clean & colorful, we were greeted immediately by Chris & instructed to seat ourselves. The lunch specials end at 3pm, which would explain only 1 other booth occupied by a party of 3. Our server Chris brought 2 glasses of water & introduced himself, very upbeat & answered any questions re: menu items. Since this was a late lunch we ordered the Hummus Be-Shawarma to share. Which is a plate with a hummus base and your choice of gyro meat or shawarma chicken or both proteins. Ordered it with both proteins, came with a salad that consisted of iceberg lettuce/loaded with cucumber & tomato's, topped off with dressing & side of long grain white rice. Ordered a side of Baba Ghanouj also. Pitas with the Baba were nice and soft the Baba was excellent!! Salad was good, nothing great, my daughter enjoyed it though. As for the entree, that was excellent as well!! The hummus was creamy and had good flavor. While the chicken was tender & flavorful as well. The gyro meat had good flavor but was a tad dried, like it's precut for the dish. Still good though!! Pitas that came with entree were warm & soft, rice was tender as well & didn't clump, very fluffy. Our waters were refilled without asking when low. Chris was very attentive & personable. Agree with other reviews-- nothing like the location in Golden. Today I ordered 2 baba ganoush for a party I'm attending. Menu says it comes with bread. They gave me exactly one piece of pita bread for each $8 order of baba ganoush. I complained because I've been accustomed to getting 3-4 pieces of pita bread with the appetizer portion and I was told no. Really??? You're going to save money on the pita bread??? One piece of bread for an appetizer that serves 3-4 people? I spent $60 on 2 lunches and the 2 orders of baba and received no pita bread to go with my kabobs, either. What a joke. Fries were nasty. I'm also convinced this location waters down their baba ganoush compared to the taste and texture at the location in Golden. Take the extra drive and enjoy the scenery on the way. read more

As a Lebanese living in Boulder there aren't many good spots to get food that makes me feel like I'm back home. I was really happy with my experience here and would recommend to anyone wanting to get a taste of Mediterranean food. They're extremely friendly, and even offered to cook me any traditional meal that I was missing but takes a lot of work. The reason I don't give this place a 5 star is because of price. The ingredients they use are a lot more expensive here but it's to a point where you expect a little more from your meal. What's beautiful about Mediterranean food is that it's cheap, filling and delicious, but you don't get that here. I would eat here a lot more often if it wasn't for the price. read more

Ali Baba Grill is a nice little spot to eat, as it faces the Rocky Mountains. The food was pretty good, too. Their chicken shawarma plate was nice. Service was quick enough. I will mention that it was a little pricey, but recent inflation was probably the reason. Not a bad bet by any means. read more

I really love the food I get from here. Its big portions and decently priced. The food is hot and orders are always correct. I also really love the a la carte options making any order really customizeable. Flavors are very bold and not bland like some other places. Traditionally speaking I tend to not really like hummus from the places around town, but this is the first place that I actually like the hummus. It has great flavor and goes with almost everything. Along with that my favorites tend to be the Chicken kabobs or the Kobideh which are spiced very well and a large serving, which goes for all of their kabobs. The rice they serve is also very good, which is another rarity for me. Its just the right texture and has good flavor in itself. Stopped here for dinner with the family. First the positives: The restaurant is a decent size. The hummus/Pita appetizer serving was generous. Combo Platter was a decent size. Food tasted pretty good. Not AMAZING but not terrible either. The negatives: While the restaurant is decorated nicely, attention to detail on cleaning and upkeep was missed - things like the table being sticky and smeared in places; dirty windows; sticky floor; fabric covering booth seats slipping and threads hanging off in areas and crumbs on them. Door to parking lot was propped open and there were flies. My Combo Platter which had hummus and babaganoush came with no pita bread which was odd - do some people just eat it alone? Had to request Pita. Pita was cold and seemed dry. Service was lackluster. Server was slow and didn't seem friendly at all. We had selected the restaurant after checking Yelp and when we checked in, a 10% off coupon popped up. When we showed it to the server, she stated it was not for them. I showed her that it was from their listing at the address we were at. She seemed annoyed and gruffly stated that she would ask someone about it but that they don't accept coupons and walked off. She returned and said they would not accept the coupon and stated it was probably for another restaurant with the same name. I pointed out to her again that it is specifically under THAT restaurant (pic uploaded in case anyone wants to see it) and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. NOT impressed with how this was handled. Even if everything was wonderful, which it was not, I'd never dine here again or recommend this place to anyone just based on how the coupon situation was handled. Evidently this restaurant has enough business and can afford to alienate new customers. This Elite Yelper gives Ali Baba 2 stars. The food alone would have merited 3 stars but I had to take a star away for the issues listed. Will head to Kalita Grill for my fix. read more

The Golden location has been our favorite for years, with that beautiful exotic decor. We tried the Boulder location as soon as it opened. It did not have the fabulous fava beans that we enjoy in Golden, but popular demand seems to have brought them back. Who knew that warm fava beans in olive oil with garlic and lemon could be so heavenly? The kabobs are unbelievable. All in all, the place is always worth a visit. read more

They have servers that are also arabic who also know their way around the menu and the food variance and selection. Their service was splendid; I felt at home. Honestly really disappointed in Ali Baba. I've been to the golden location tons of times and have always LOVED it. The food was amazing and fresh, the ambiance was awesome. But something went wrong with the boulder location. While the service was terrific and friendly, the food itself just didn't taste as fresh and authentic. I had the king combo, a plate with pretty much everything; beef, lamb, chicken, rice, Baba ghanoush and hummus, and falafel. All were pretty subpar and just not that flavorful. The pita bread wasn't heated and tasted like it came from the supermarket. I've had better falafel at falafel king. I hate to review a restaurant that I've loved at another location so poorly, but I'm sincerely hoping Ali Baba in Boulder gets their feet off the ground soon and starts to upgrade their produce. read more

Pretty decent food, although not quite as tasty as i had hoped. The family decided to try Ali Baba rather than the place across town that we KNOW is amazing, and i kinda wished we had just stuck with Kalita Grill. The first and most major issue was that we checked into Yelp were informed there was a Yelp coupon for 10 percent off our order. Score, right? Well, our server had obviously never seen anything like that before and went into the back to check with some mystery person who told her they didnt advertise on Yelp. Kinda made me curious as to how this coupon popped up for their restaurant, then. Someone involved with the restaurant had to have apprived the coupon but they refused to honor it. Thats just bad service. Hummus was good and it was a generous portion. Our server brought more pita as we needed it. I had the falafel sandwich with fries, the wife and boy the vegetarian combo platter. The food was good, but combos should come with their own pita serving. We all felt that the falafel was a bit underwhelming and heavy on the cumin, and i felt the falafel sandwich was a bit small. Service was underwhelming and the restaurant itself seemed a bit dingy. All in all, it was passable, but i doubt we will be returning when there are better optiins in Boulder. read more

I am sorry to say but this had to be one of the worst meals I have had in ages. First of all with middle eastern food, I would have expected them to make their own pita. Not so. The pita was cold and not good. Came directly out of a bag from the store. The food in general was underwhelming to inedible. The falafel was so bad, I couldnt even eat it. It was like a hard pancake with the taste of old oil. We also ordered the gyro meat platter and substituted tabbouleh for the mixed salad. Mistake. There was NO bulgar at all in the mix. It was seriously, chopped parsley with a few bits of tomato. As for the gyro meat - the flavor was good but it was hard and crunchy. The hummus was very average with a weird aftertaste. The best thing on the plate was the rice and the only other thing that was really palatable was the baba ghanoush. That was ok - smoky and creamy. But not enough to make up for how terrible everyting else was. If I could give 1/2 star I would. Don't waste your money. Both Garbanzos (fresh homemade pita as well as cooked to order falafel - and gyro meat that is really good) and CAVA are both WAY better choices in Boulder for this type of fast-ish middle eastern cuisine. The price is impressively reasonable for this amount of delicious food. Skewers were fresh off the grill. I visited with a large group (25+ people) while on a road trip to Colorado. We were looking for a nice sit-down restaurant after eating fast food for most of the trip, and we tried out a bunch of different items from the menu, including curry, hummus plates, shawarma, kebabs, gyros, and more. Most of us started with pita bread and hummus. The hummus has a strong peanut flavor, which was pretty good, just different than usual. The pita bread seems to be store-bought (some came room-temperature and dry), which is unfortunate since I love fresh-baked breads. I personally shared a meat lover's plate for two, which came with salad, hummus, rice, and a plate of 7 kebabs. I was really looking forward to the assorted meats, and though the seasoning was pretty good, I was quite disappointed when almost every piece was very dry. Only one piece of the lamb I ate was passably moist, and the chicken especially was dry and a bit tough. It may have been the fact that the kitchen was cooking for so many people at once that night, but I wish this restaurant could have gotten the kebabs right. I got mixed reactions when asking the others in my group about their food. Some liked their dish, others noticed the same things I did about the pita bread or the dry meat, but no one was really impressed. I guess the general consensus was that it was merely "ok". The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with very comfortable seating along the walls and nice decor. I will say that the service was great. Even with our giant group coming in pretty late in the day, our waitresses always had a smile and moved quickly and efficiently. Overall: 3/5. We stopped in right before 5:00pm on a Saturday and were immediately greeted and seated by a very friendly server. The food was authentic and the service was amazing. The restaurant filled up very quickly after we arrived and there was a constant flow of take out orders coming in. The server and the cook(s) worked very hard to please all the clientele. Had an appointment in Boulder Labor Day Afternoon, and saw the sign out front, which drew us in. We were greeted right away by a young man, who offered us seating any where and glasses of ice water. Very helpful explaining menu items. This places oozes with atmosphere. The food was served very quickly, and we decided to also try the falafel. These were so crispy and tasty. I had the Gryo Meat, with the lamb, lunch item, and the wife had the chicken Kabob. Wow! The lamb was prepared so that it melted in your mouth. And spiced perfectly. My wife loved her chicken kabob. This restaurant has some of the most delicious and authentic middle eastern food in Colorado! It is run by a hardworking husband and wife duo who never fail to create a welcoming atmosphere by being very friendly and hospitable to its customers. Whether you are dining in, or ordering to-go, the food is always very fresh and made to order. My personal favorite entree is the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, however, you definitely cannot go wrong when ordering any other entree (I.e. Meat Lovers Kabob Combo) or appetizers (i.e. Muhamara) on the menu.
