Churrasco
Kandyce V.

HORRIBLE!!! We ordered the "Churrasco" thinking it was a typical skirt steak. Nope. It was a very cheap cut of meat with bones throughout. It was so tough that I gave up trying to chew it. The one star is that the fries and the red wine was good. I definitely would Not recommend this place!!!

This spot was the one for our first Tapas dinner for this Madrid visit. Roomy inside with some outdoor seating. Empty as we were early for dinner around 7 so we took a table outside. They do have a Sister location next door -difference is less Tapas and Paella is on the menu. We started with Sangria and the Alhambra house brew. The Beer was billed as an IPA but tasted more like an Ale-very good. The Sangria was a bit sweet and refreshing. Complimentary Manchego cheese was a nice touch. Our Server warned us that their Tapas are larger than the typical size and she wasn't kidding-more like Tapas on steroids. We started with the Goat Cheese with onion and blueberry sauce. I don't think I've had fried Goat cheese and this was delicious. Blueberry sauce takes it over the top. Tortilla Omelette (Spanish Omelette) was filled with eggs/onions-very good. Last Tapa was the Cured Iberian Loin. Again, big portion. The surprise was the flat chicken breast and peppers under the Loin. This one was ok. Decided to share the Rice with 1/2 Lobster. Sauce was tasty mixed with the Rice as well Lobster. Not much Lobster though. Service was excellent with our Server patiently answering all of our questions. They've been around for almost 100 years. Don't miss the Goat Cheese Tapa!

We tried three dishes here; prawn, steak, traditional Spanish Madrid dish and potato with heavy sauce on it. Oh my god ~ the potatoes were really good. The prawn ~ it was steamed but it smelled that it came from trash can. It was smelliest shrimps ever. The Traditional Madrid Dish ~ I generally can eat anything but I was about to vomit smelling the food. It smelled like a dirty gym socks and I couldn't even eat one spoon of it. Hard NO on this place.

Callos:tripe.

Alhambra definitely did not disappoint for out early evening snacking. All of our dishes (tortilla, meatballs, and beef tripe) were great. Even folks at the table who normally do not like callos/beef tripe really enjoyed it...especially the sauce/stew. We wanted to order a couple more items, but our waitress informed us that the portion sizes were very large. Boy, was she right. In terms of bang for your buck (I mean bang for your Euro), this place is great. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor options, and I highly recommend eating outdoors if the weather is nice. Since the place is somewhat popular, I would recommend making reservations if they accept them. We lucked out with outdoor seating because a table was finishing their meal when we arrived. Unfortunately, I failed at the Yelp rule of 'phones eat first' because my phone's battery was dying.

Premium Ham Sub

Just premium ham and bread. No mayo, no oil and vinegar, No extra additives and it was delicious. The bread was EVERYTHING. Love everything about it. I could have eaten more but I am watching these calories while in Madrid.

Paella
Anzhela H.

The paella wasn't that good, sangria was very watery taste. The service was good, pleasant waiters. I don't think we would be back eating there.

Excellent food. Service was friendly and food was quick. The restaurant is in a building with a lot of character and also has outdoor seating. The goat cheese with blueberry sauce was my favorite thing we tried

1st meal in spain and this place did not disappoint! It was so nice eating outside, taking in the evening with great tapas, drinks and company. Oh Europe, how I missed you. And coming from CA? The food here is so cheap. Highly recommend the jamon, achovies, steak (comes with fries) and two sauce potatoes!

Had a nice lunch here. The server was nice and explained the menu to us. We got the oxtail, tortillas, patatas bravas, and a plate of jamon. The portion size is huge here, so under order. The oxtail was sublime and pretty tender. Everything else was decent but not knock your socks off.

Sides for parillada for 2: half salad, half fries
Ana D.

Went at about 8pm on a spring Saturday and there was no wait. Ordered the parillada for 2 and was about to order the grilled vegetables but the waiter warned us that the order was very large and with the aide of salad or potatoes it would be too much food. -service: the first waitress split a setup for 6, moving a small table in the middle of the passing route. Thankfully another server told her she should simply seat us in the table for 4 that was available and out of the way. I asked for tap water and it was not brought. Another waitress then asked what we wanted to drink and I told her I had asked for tap water but it wasn't brought- she returned with one cup of water despite us having a party of 2. -parillada for 2: for $33 it was a very good amount of meat. One large sausage, 4 small paprika sausages and 2 large pieces each of chicken and 2 cuts of beef (total 6 large pieces of meat). The chicken was simply flavored but had a nice grill taste. The meat was very chewy and I had a difficult time chewing it. I also asked for it to be well dine when we ordered because I am prego but for one of the cuts of beef, it was pink/bloody in the center and even after asking them to cook it more it still came back pink.

Jug of sangria

A great tapas place in the heart of Madrid! I've been traveling around Spain for over a week now and have had many different meals from different restaurants, but this place is still on the very top of my favorites list. The staff is very quick and friendly, and that added to why I like this place, being the first restaurant that I ate at when I landed. My party of 3 ordered the goat cheese with jam, ham croquette, paella, prawns, and a jug of sangria. It was more than enough for us! My favorites were the ham croquette, prawns, and sangria. The croquettes came with shoestring fries that very delicious. The ham croquette wasn't over fried; the crispiness of the bread crumbing was just right! In addition, the fries were amazing even though they were just fries! The prawns came out boiling still in a ceramic plate. It was filled with an olive oil/butter sauce that was soo good. The sangria was the best I had in Spain so far! Not too sweet and a good amount of alcohol mixed in. However, I didn't really like goat cheese and paella. The cheese was huge! I like my cheeses in moderation, but these blocks were too big and therefore, too cheesy. The jam included slightly offsets the cheesiness but not enough for me. The paella rice texture seemed a bit undercooked, so I didn't fully enjoy that dish. Overall, a place worth visiting if you're in Madrid! They also give a small complimentary spicy Spanish sausage with bread dish which is pretty yummy.

Had seafood paella here. It seemed like pre-cooked as it got served just in 5 minutes... It was an OK paella that had standard taste, but lacked of the flavour of saffron and rosemary. It might be a good place for tapas but not for authentic paella. In fact, most restaurants in this area may serve pre-cooked paella as they don't have time. So I was satisfied anyway. Service was good. Chicken wings and bread chips were on the house.

All the way from Texas and it's a big Negative! Dinner was gross Go elsewhere!! If you want to drink then yes but food is hell to the No!

I ordered the sangria, which was honestly the best I had in Madrid, while my mom enjoyed a lovely glass of wine. For the main course, we had the beef with chimichurri and butter, and OMG... it was phenomenal. Everything was cooked perfectly, and all the flavors complemented each other so well. To finish the night, we shared the chocolate dessert and the "Love Chueca" cocktail, which was incredible and the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. Its cocktail venue is one of Madrid's most subtly invigorating places to drink. In a restaurant scene that is constantly reinventing itself, 'Angelita' doesn't chase trends. It defines its own universe. Finding the bar is part of the experience. Entering through the dining area upstairs, one is guided down an almost secret staircase to what might be called, Center Stage. This is where cocktail magic unfolds in a profound yet personal way. Instantly the house lights soften. A cacophony of curiously muddled voices rises and falls in palpable anticipation of what comes next. In a comfy blend of separate yet united, the bar and restaurant deserve their own spotlights. The menus evolve constantly. Angelita's wine list can reach five hundred bottles. The motif is as thoughtful, expansive, and provocative as the impeccable dishes with which it is paired. Oh, the food! So worthy of distinction, yet we will save it for another review. In the meantime, cherish a seat at the bar. It offers the most captivating view in the house: front-row access to the choreography behind the counter. For it is here where libation artists distill genius from wildly enchanting ingredients. Rather than relying on commercial bottles, Angelita cures and concocts its own spirits and infusions. Many elements are harvested from the family farm. They are rendered, blended, mixed, and tuned in exacting ways as much akin to science labs as gourmet kitchens. Fresh-milled breadworks, savory almonds, fragrant herbs, just-pulled vegetables, and hypnotic botanicals are part of the alchemy. Nothing is off limits if it adds texture, depth, or aroma. The room reinforces this point. Angelita's bar is assembled with a mad scientist's mindset: shelves lined with labeled jars of organic infusions; stainless-steel work surfaces burnished to a mirror-sheen; precision tools that appear to be of surgical grade; and beakers with rubber tubing. And then there is the centerpiece: a rotary evaporator, or "Rotovap", replete with condenser and flask. It is a serious instrument of culinary crafting that signals exactly what Angelita intends: Precision Perfection. The device allows distillation under vacuum at very low temperatures. In practice, this means Angelita can capture and condense fragile aromatics. Citrus peel. Basil. Rustic spices. Floral notes. All without cooking them into acidic bitterness or diluted dullness. What ends up in the glass is absolutely clean, vivid, and true to the original ingredients. Think: flavor in hi-def. Such standards carry through to presentation. The bar serves no ice in any of its drinks. Rather, cocktails arrive in exquisitely chilled glassware to avoid watering-down their preciously procured ingredients. Everything is measured on a digital scale, not rushed through casual pours and bar jiggers. Each offering is intentional. Deliberate. Repeatable. Yet nothing feels clinical because the result is raw and primal pleasure. After the first sip an all-sensory message is received loud and clear: 'This isn't an ordinary cocktail bar.' Angelita's drinks are born on the family farm, expertly developed in a working lab, and refined out in the open for all to witness and savor. Come ready to be mesmerized. Techniques will marvel. Flavors will enchant. Senses will exalt. At Angelita, craft meets captivation as mixologists explain the science that elevates liquid to Life.

When I found out I was coming to Madrid I had to book a table. First things first, my suggestion is book way in advance. This place fills up fast. My friend and I waited too long and the only seating we could get was at 11:15 PM. No big deal though there's plenty of places you can get a light snack in the surrounding area while exploring the city. Walking in, the architecture immediately hits you. Low ceilings, gorgeous old brick, tight dining rooms, it really feels like you stepped back in time. The whole atmosphere is elevated without being stiff. Staff was super friendly and made the experience feel smooth from start to finish. There's also apprently a really nice wine cellar at the bottom I overheard other patrons bragging about. Food wise, I will keep it real, it was good, just not my favorite meal in Madrid. The sangria was solid, definitely one of my highlights. The croquettes were fire. Crispy, creamy, exactly what you want. My friend's seafood casserole was actually really good too, I lowkey wish I went that route. Now the misses. The sautéed vegetables with Iberian ham didn't do it for me. The veggies needed seasoning bad, and the ham leaned a little too salty, so together it just felt off. The suckling pig, the signature dish, was good, but I was not blown away. If I find myself returning here, I would explore other options. After dinner, there was a little show and they let you keep a souvenir menu, which was a nice touch and made the night feel more memorable. Overall I had a solid 3.5 star experience rounded up to 4. Sobrino de Botín is history, it is iconic, and it is worth saying you have been. Just do not expect it to be the best meal of your trip. Hit Botín, soak it in, then go explore the rest of Madrid's food scene, because that is where things really start to shine.

The interior is cozy and inviting, while outdoor seating is available if you prefer to dine al fresco (though it can get a bit windy outside). The menu features a wide variety of traditional Spanish dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. Our T-bone steak arrived perfectly cooked, served with grilled peppers and sliced golden potatoes, it was simple, flavorful, and satisfying. The squid was also very good, but the standout dish was the asparagus in tempura with almond mayonnaise. Perfectly fried and incredibly light, it was absolutely outstanding. Another highlight was the homemade Iberian ham croquettes served with candied pepper sauce which were creamy and rich on the inside with a delicate crisp on the outside and a wonderful balance of flavor. To accompany the meal, we enjoyed a few glasses of Rioja Azpilicueta Crianza (Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo, 12 months aging, 2021). It was a bit on the dry side, but helped take the edge off the chilly wind while we sat outside enjoying a late lunch. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even indulging my enthusiasm for photographing the slicing of the Iberian ham. All in all, La Mi Venta delivered a fantastic, authentic Spanish dining experience with great food, good wine, and welcoming service in a charming setting.
