Alga bagel is our go to place for bagels in Randolph. It's super fresh and delicious! The only downside side during COVID is the place can get it crowded when people are ordering/waiting. I'd say they should improve their protocols for better protection and ask people to wait outside, or even have just a window open to order/take out. read more

I don't get it....maybe I came on an off day but Sunday morning should be the best time to get a bagel. The place was chaotic, parking lot crowded & for what - very average bagels with hardly any seeds on them & quite doughy. No crisp on the top; just OK. We moved to Randolph so as a new neighborhood wanted to find a place to get Saturday bagels. Alfa bagels is definitely a good place to go, place is energetic and the people working there are so friendly. The food is made to order and always fresh. While I don't speak Spanish it's great to see them being able to accommodate different cultures. The vibe is always friendly. EgI would definitely recommend visiting this place. The only down side is they are off Rt 10 so traffic is always moving, but that shouldn't stop you from going. read more

Only ordered two bagels, and waited 20+ minutes only to never receive my order! The two older women at the counter were counting coins at the food preparation counter instead, and despite making eye-contact with me several times, the two bagels that I ordered were not made. While I frequently stop at Alfa to pick up bagels to bring home, today I stayed and ordered the NJ classic...Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a bagel! Just outstanding! As I've said before, these bagels are the best in Morris County, and the sandwich was excellent! Topped off with a large coffee, it was just the breakfast I wanted! Alfa's not perfect...the parking is usually terrible and on weekends especially, one needs to be very patient since the line is long and the staff is always on the go. Hands-down they have great bagels that's all I ever ate there. however, I no longer go there because the same people who serve your food also handle the money. I spoke to the owner about it he assured me that it would be handled so I went back same thing no gloves. Also drove by there this past Saturday in the mist of the virus and as we know the parking lot gets very crowded on Saturday morning .. there was for 15 cars nobody waiting outside ...then when I drove by again a few hours later ...same amount of cars and about six people waiting in line ...so I'm wondering where the other 10 were and everybody who's been doing in that establishment knows that you can't even fit two people in their 6 ft apart. read more

Others have posted about being ignored when you walk in, I experienced the same exact thing about a month ago, two woman talking to each other while people are standing there waiting. I eventually walked out. Decided to try it again. This place has been here a long time but there are other places on route 10 to choose. I had an everything bagel with butter and a coffee. I left a tip in the tip jar. they asked if I wanted the receipt I said no. I just went this past weekend because I was in New Jersey visiting family, and I just HAD to have some taylor ham while I was there. It was everything I was looking for and I'm so glad I stopped! There are two things that Alfa Bagels could improve on: parking and acceptance of credit cards. Being right on Route 10, it's hard to get a spot/get into the lot at all. I am always afraid of incoming traffic behind me as I pull in to the lot. For many years as I have passed by Rt 10 Tech or Harvard on the Hill, as Community College of Morris (CCM) is unjustly known, I've seen this blur of a building which had been a deli or deli/bagel place for many years. Going down hill on East bound Rt 10, I of course blew by at only 55 MPH without this place catching my interest. I just dismissed it. Today, instead of hitting the gas, I hit the brakes and stopped in for my first visit after flying by for 20+ years. From the pictures one can see it's rather non descript , if not tacky outside. Inside, you enter a clean bright and pleasant environment. This is not just a takeout bagel joint. You can sit and partake in bagels, pancakes, eggs and a variety of lunch sandwiches in nice looking booths or sip an espresso while while waiting for your food or simply relaxing. They offer a pretty full menu of breakfast items . It is all counter service. I'm a take out, eat in the car guy so, I just wanted some bagels and whitefish salad to go. There was a short line and the employees were slow and somewhat disorganized. One person would do multiple tasks instead of one person being dedicated to taking orders, staffing the cash register, etc... so, the ordering and fulfillment process was suffering slightly from a personality disorder, to put it impolitely. Who starts taking an order and interrupts the process to get another customer a cup of coffee or place a sandwich order while waiting on me? I really appreciated the the fact that their kitchen was actively baking small batches of fresh hot bagels. Their bagels are boiled and baked as I ascertained from seeing the view into their kitchen.When I saw poppy seed and sesame bagels coming out of the kitchen freshly baked, I chose the fresh these hot bagels. These were steaming hot. I couldn't even break off a piece for me to immediately sample because they were so fresh. After a few or 15 minutes, these were still warm and I took my first sample. These had a mildly textured crust, and a warm chewy interior. This remained the same after cooling down sever hours later. So, this is a decent NJ bagel but, not a true NY bagel. Why???? Crust was weak, and interior was soft and chewy, not firm. This was very satisfying on many levels. If you strictly use the NYC bagel scale for determining a bagel's quality, this will be a 6.5 of 10. I appreciated it for a NJ bagel. Whitefish salad was good but, was very generic. Stop in, it's worthwhile for the freshness, unique characteristics but not the absolute authenticity. All in all I can't complain.
