Very limited mirror space for viewing. We did find 2 dresses and I spent nearly $1,000 on 2 prom dresses for my twins. Plus, I love supporting small business and drove 2 hours each way to do this! We drove 70 miles 4x to get dresses and subsequent alterations. On our last visit when we picked up a dress that had been altered, they asked me to pay BEFORE my daughter tried on her altered dress. WHO DOES THIS? Unless they know there is something that you are NOT going to be happy with. Well sure enough, the dress was worse than before it was altered. Yes, they offered to fix it and told me it would be a couple of hours. Again, we live 2 hours away and I wasn't expecting to spend the day in DeKalb. If you're going to charge me $65 for alterations, they should be done by someone who knows how to alter corseted dresses with boning in them. Again, to spend $540 on a dress that looked better before they altered it, I was very upset. They didn't even apologize. I guess once they've made the FINAL SALE - NO RETURNS, they don't care if you come back again.

The young lady did come to the dressing room when requested to acknowledge alterations could be done, but we ended up leaving as the dresses were just eh and made her look frumpy. My daughter was in tears and lost all confidence. My husband called them when we got home to ask if alterations could be done by the following Saturday (as there was one dress that was ok, but big in the arms). The lady, who sounded much older, asked if she could ask a question " is your daughter the one that refused to come out of the dressing room?" He had her on speaker phone so my daughter and I heard. I hesitated, because she didn't necessarily refuse, but didn't come out, so I nodded. She proceeded to yell at my husband that if she had came out of the dressing room, they could've helped her with her fitting. He reiterated this is her first time and she's nervous, but the lady was really rude. I ended up taking her to Wolsfelts in Aurora, and it was the BEST experience! She had a personal assistant that helped her pick from a wide range of dresses that made my daughter feel beautiful and even comfortable coming out of the dressing room, in front of other parents, to view herself in the mirror. The smiles brought me to tears. She found the perfect dress, was given accessory choices, and was given a popper and videoed to share her experience on instagram. We spent $700 that Ducky's could've had if they provided a better experience.

I had struck out at just about every high-end department store you can think of, and couldn't even find a decent to try on anywhere I had gone. Gipper Prom has a large selection, with most inventory displayed on mannequins instead of just on hangers. There's no lugging around 10lb dresses, you just write the style number and color up on a slip they give you when you first walk in, and when you're done, they bring it to your dressing room. And it IS a room, with a locking door, so no worrying about that big dress leaving you exposed as you turn around. They had several associates at the dressing room, ready to help zip, clasp or adjust when needed, and they make sure the walkway is clear for you to move about. Since most people do not go dress shopping alone, they thoughtfully have ample seating and complimentary water for the poor soul you may have dragged along with you. Seating is arranged several feet behind a wall lined with mirrors, each section accompanied by a platform and appropriate lighting. The platform is likely useful for any tailoring needed, but I just used it to make my significant other nervously rate me in each of the 10 or so dresses I tried on. The staff didn't pressure you to buy, nor did anyone look at my long list of dresses like I was wasting their time or making their life terrible for no reason. The people working were friendly, and the other customers and their guests were also all cheery. Dress shopping can be a nightmare - hot, cramped, nothing fitting the way you hope, sizing not available, etc. But not the case here - and the other women shopping seemed to feel the same as me. Customers were openly complimenting each other, and the entire atmosphere was very warm. I can't rate their ability to modify or make minor fixes to beading, etc. The dress I purchased was perfect without anything needed. Overall, I was more than impressed. If you're an adult, well - clearly we aren't going to the prom, but this is a great store for many other events including pageants, galas, black tie or formal parties, or any time you can get away with being a little "extra," or are in need of a good selection of floor-length, high-quality formalwear. The owner PJ was really friendly and professional throughout our entire visit. Price of the suit was pretty fair too for what it is prior to us paying. We were fitted for a suit really quickly but we were told that the suit would take 6 weeks to come in and we waited nearly 8 weeks and some of my friends are waiting more. If you need to get alteration it will add some time as well. Overall, the presentation of the suit and the staff every time I've been here has been outstanding not nonetheless. They take great Hospitality of their guests throughout the visit which makes up for some lost time. Definitely come back and check out their sales that they have at certain points of the year.

I have taken clothes to Tad More and the results have been amazing…read more The owner and employees take time to listen carefully and take time to practice their craft in the most meticulous fashion. I have taken my slacks to be shortened and "slenderized" and I have taken two suits of Shantung silk to them. They shortened the hems on the skirt and dress, shaped the dress to more closely fit my measurements, and shortened the sleeves on both the jacket and the coat. They also explained why one modification I requested would create negative "unintended consequences". After they explained their thinking, I could understand why the modification would have been a bad idea. I recommended them to my brother, who had several pairs of dress pants taken in. They even repaired a tear in a pair of jeans. The repair was so perfectly done that I thought he had purchased a new pair --- I was unable to see where the repair was accomplished. These people know their craft. I even left their business card with my cobbler (another endangered craft with the proliferation of athletic shoes). If you wear clothes with classic lines, visit Tad More...you will be pleased you went.
