I wanted a dress that I could only wear on my wedding day - something with bling, poof, and shimmer - but also something incredibly flattering and sexy without being too sexy. I'm part of a large bridal group on FB and everyone raved about Brides by Young so I had to try them out. I honestly was expecting to need to go to a bunch of stores so I figured this would be one of a few stops. I was wrong (thank goodness!). Bonnie was my girl that day and she did a really wonderful job. I sent over examples of what I wanted (from Pinterest and other bridal shows) but what I saw online I wasn't "in love" with so I didn't think I would really find my dress. Bonnie studied the dresses I wanted, my budget, and my personality and picked 5 dresses that I EASILY could have chosen and been in love with. All in all I tried on 7-8 dresses, but 5 of them I had a hard time choosing between - they were all so wonderful and exactly my style and what I wanted! With the help of Bonnie, my mom, my two besties and my future step-daughter, we picked THE dress. It was everything I wanted and more. Bonnie was so helpful the entire time, being cautious about my budget and always asking me before seeing a new dress if I was okay with the cost. She gave me the hard truth about the cost of tariffs, tax, and alterations so that I wasn't surprised later on. Everyone loved her - but really the entire staff was wonderful. I would probably say this isn't the place if you're on a strict smaller budget - my dress was not cheap, but it was perfect and I was willing to spend the extra money. I was on the smaller size of the average dress size there, but very impressed with the variety of sizes for curvy girls! They recommended Alterations by Sylvia in Arlington Hts and I'm SO glad they recommended her! The alterations made my dress even better somehow and they were great to work with. The…read moregown arrived in early summer 2026, but the bustle was never demonstrated during my initial try-on. At my bustling appointment three weeks before my wedding, we discovered the extreme weight of the bustled train pulled the entire dress down my body. Whether sitting, standing, walking, or dancing, the dress fell repeatedly during a brief 30-minute fitting. To pull it back up, I had to unbutton, unzip, and reset the entire gown every few minutes--completely unviable for an 8+ hour wedding day. The seamstress proposed adding satin straps, removing the train entirely, or adding a seatbelt/waist stay. The waist stay had to be fastened so tightly I couldn't take a deep breath, and removing the train or adding unmatched straps fundamentally altered the dress design while adding extra costs. Additionally, during my original appointment with my stylist, Mercedes, I explicitly stated I would not buy the dress unless an extra lining layer could be added to smooth my hip area. Mercedes assured me it was possible and had me order a size 6. During alterations, Theresa let the hips out, but I was then informed adding the requested extra layer was actually impossible, leaving me with an unresolvable fit issue. Left with no viable wedding gown three weeks out, I had to wear my cocktail dress for our formal Catholic ceremony. The seamstress stated nothing more could be done. While Shirley and Theresa were polite in trying to find solutions, management communication stalled. On September 10th, I was told the owners were on vacation and would address it upon return. My wedding has passed, and I was left without a dress or a resolution before my big day. I expected Mercedes to consider the gown's weight relative to my thin frame. My unworn gown remains at the salon. Because I require all documentation in writing moving forward, I cannot accept phone calls. We had gone to another shop and when we came to this store we were immediately impressed with their tie and tuxedo selection. We were able to try on tuxes and find the styles that we wanted. Ed was able to spend a lot of time with us. We chose the style we wanted and decided on having each of our groomsmen wear a different tie color. The only difficulty came when our groomsmen waited until the last minute to get measured for their tuxedos, but blame should go to our wedding party and not the shop. My sister wanted to be dressed like everyone else in the wedding in a tuxedo and they were able fulfill her request without any issues. Most people cannot say that they have a two year relationship with their tuxedo rental company but that's what happened to us. We first went into their store in early March 2020. After the pandemic hit we were forced to delay our wedding twice. Ed and everyone at Gentlemen's Quarters Formalwear were easy to work and communicate with. Phones, voicemails, and emails were answered timely. Both times we had to postpone our wedding, our arrangements and deposits were honored and shifted to our new date. One of the higher-up employees was speaking very disrespectfully to the seamstress right in front of customers, which was really uncomfortable to witness. I arrived for my scheduled 11:00 appointment to simply pick up the dress--nothing needed to be done--but I was told I would have to come back at 5:00 to get it. They also never called me when the dress came in. Earlier in the process, they told me I needed to find my own seamstress for alterations, so I arranged that on my own. Then, because they didn't have my dress in on time, they suddenly told me they could "fit me in" with their seamstress instead. The whole situation felt very disorganized and frustrating. Overall, the customer service was poor and the experience was far more stressful than it should have been for something as important as a wedding dress. Since Agnes had her own studios near me, was reasonably priced, responded in a timely manner, and communicated in a clear and friendly manner I opted to put my trust in her to alter my wedding dress. I bought my wedding dress in a size 16 but had lost 30 lbs since and the dress was already not going to fit me correctly to start since I'm 5'3. Basically, to trust someone with my dress was saying a lot since it needed an overall. I was also very nervous about price, it being done on time, and honestly it not getting destroyed with the amount of alterations needed. Agnes hemmed the dress, removed some of the bulk of the skirt from the side so it would be easier to move in, added the bussel points, took the dress in on both sides, added bra cups, took out fabric from the chest area, redid the chest area since it still had too much fabric, tightened the straps, took in the back straps, took in the arm pits ,took in the butt area, added another hook in the back. When it was done it was so much smaller and had a lot more shape to it. I was actually excited to put it on! We started the process 6 weeks out from my wedding so I was my most accurate weight (make sure to contact her to schedule much farther in advance though) and she had the dress to me about a week and a half before the wedding which was perfect! What is great about Agnes is her work is fantastic and reliable (you don't want to chance your wedding dress), she is a great communicator (You won't wonder what work is getting done or how much you will be paying), her prices are reasonable, she will give you her honest opinion on everything, and she will do everything in a timely manner.
