I would give them zero stars if I could. I had a very disappointing experience at this bridal shop. From the moment I arrived, the staff was extremely rude. One of the higher-up employees was speaking very disrespectfully to the seamstress right in front of customers, which was really uncomfortable to witness. I arrived for my scheduled 11:00 appointment to simply pick up the dress--nothing needed to be done--but I was told I would have to come back at 5:00 to get it. They also never called me when the dress came in. Earlier in the process, they told me I needed to find my own seamstress for alterations, so I arranged that on my own. Then, because they didn't have my dress in on time, they suddenly told me they could "fit me in" with their seamstress instead. The whole situation felt very disorganized and frustrating. Overall, the customer service was poor and the experience was far more stressful than it should have been for something as important as a wedding dress. I came here recently to help my best friend find her dream dress and it was a really disappointing experience. Pros: lots of options and all of the dresses on the floor are ivory. Cons: let's start with the set up... the upstairs is totally open and makes it feel like the bride is putting on a show instead of having a personal and intimate experience. As someone who struggles with my own body, I would have hated trying on a dress here in front of the entire salon. Then there was the consultant. She was young, clearly inexperienced and didn't listen to a thing my friend had to say. She made my friend feel extremely frustrated and she didn't enjoy the experience the way she should have. Luckily I heard everything my friend said and was able to help find her perfect dress. Then when it came to styling (with the veil specifically), the consultant picked what she wanted and once again did not listen to what my friend had to say. Overall, my friend found her perfect dress, but had a very negative experience. I had the pleasure of accompanying my friend here last weekend on her first trip to a bridal shop. It was also my first tme in an upscale bridal store -- I found my wedding dress right away at a David's Bridal and hadn't looked any further. After coming to Crystal Bride and seeing my friend's experience, I really wish I had looked here for a dress! I'm not the kind of lady that enjoys shopping for anything, especially dresses, but Crystal Bride won me over. My friend was impressed too. The store itself is gorgeous: wood floors, brick walls, tin ceiling tiles -- my favorite interior decorating scheme lately. A beautiful wood staircase leads up to a second floor with more dresses. Several 'dressing stations' are scattered about the store so multiple appointments can occur at the same time. The dresses themselves are beautiful. If I recall correctly, the dresses on the racks are 'sample' dresses; so, when you order a dress, you'll be getting a brand-new one and not something that many other people have already tried on. And the best part?? All the dresses were under $2,000, which is great for designer dresses! I still can't fathom spending that much on a dress, but it's still on the lower end of designer dress prices. My friend's consultant was Kayla, who was sooo sweet and patient with us. She didn't push anything and offered many suggestions on how to modify dresses. She also listened to my friend and brought dresses that fit the criteria she was looking for, which made for a quick, yet laid-back appointment. Every dress looked great. She didn't end up buying a dress because she wasn't 'in love' with any of them, but we were all very happy with the way everything went. And they even have a K-Cup machine for coffee or tea while waiting! Sweet. On our way out. I noticed a decent selection of bridesmaid, mothers, and flower girl dresses. I found my dress at The Crystal Bride and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I had my appointment with Victoria, who had reached out earlier in the week to get some more info on what types of dresses I wanted to try on so when I came in she already had a good idea of what I did and didn't like. At the beginning of the appointment she let our group look through their dress selection and pick about six dresses to start out with. I hadn't done this at other appointments so it started off our time together on a super fun note. Victoria did such an amazing job clipping me into each dress so they fit in all the right places, and I feel like she really listened and digested all of my commentary on previous dresses while picking new styles to try on. I am so happy I made an appointment at Crystal Bride during my trip to the Chicagoland area for wedding dress shopping. Working with McKenna was awesome - she took great care of me and my (large) crew during the process. I came into this appointment completely torn between two styles of dresses but McKenna was kind and understanding throughout and really boosted my confidence in the both styles. We started the appointment by going through the racks with my group and picking about six dresses for me to start with. As we went on, McKenna made pulls of her own as well to supplement the dresses already in the room. I was in and out of the dresses quickly and efficiently and because I'm not exactly a sample size (they're either too big or too small) and she did a great job either clipping them or providing a panel for a better fit. In the end, I ended up going a different direction with my dress and not purchasing from Crystal Bride. The had a great selection though and if they had my "dream dress" I wouldn't have hesitated purchasing from McKenna and her crew. This shop is the kind they warn you about. They pushed a defective dress on me, and then tried to get me to pay money out of my own pocket to fix it. Shopping for the dress was fine, but the trouble started when I came in for my first fitting. The dress was obviously made wrong: lace missing from the bodice, too short (couldn't wear heels, and I'm average height), and the entire top was misshapen. I tried to bring my concerns up with the staff, and not one person would even look at the dress or make eye contact with me. Two salespeople (who seemed to look over my shoulder) told me all sales were final, and I would have to pay their in-house seamstress to make it right. The seamstress quoted me at $400 to make alterations to fix the defective dress. I was so upset, crying in the store, and my mom was comforting me, when a salesperson walks up and reminds us that we still $750 on the rest of the dress. How thoughtful. Days later, after multiple phone calls and presenting photographic evidence, they finally agreed to look at the dress instead of just arguing with me--and the tone changed immediately and they offered to order a new dress. I said I didn't trust them, the saleswoman on the phone laughed, and said, "Well you don't have any other options." After two more phone calls, my money is coming back to me via a check in the mail, because to refund my credit card they'd charge me a 3% service fee. In the end, I never received an explanation, nor an apology. EDIT: Per the shop owner's commentary, I DID EVENTUALLY receive a solution--three days later. I had to wait three weeks for an apology. My review is going to remain one star, because of the manager's feedback, below. This was by far the best experience, and where I ended up purchasing my dream princess dress for my husband and my 20 year vow renewal at Disney World! My consultant was Kayla, and as other reviews have mentioned, she was very nice and patient when I had a difficult time making a final decision. She was very helpful in knowing which dresses that they carried that were the style I was looking for. She was also not pushy, but encouraged me to pick the dress I really loved instead of settling for one my family might have approved of more. I was also very happy with the dress that was ordered, it really was far more beautiful than the sample dress I had tried on. The alterations went smoothly as well. The seamstress was able to add beaded fabric to the neckline so it was more modest as I requested, it was very well done and I felt it looked like it was part of the original dress. Since it was a destination vow renewal, I had to pick up the dress the week before. They had the dress beautifully steamed and pressed, and let me know how to keep it fluffy for the ceremony. All in all a great experience. My dress was so beautiful and perfect for the venue. This. Place. The stuff of dreams. I tell ya. I became engaged in September 2015, set our date on 12/31/16, and off to planning we went. I was NOT thrilled for dress shopping. See, I'm curvy, and I know sample sizes in the style of dress I wanted (mermaid, trumpet, fit/flare) would look ridiculous unless they had a wider range of sizes. Don't believe me? Well, I went to two bridal shops before this one, and had a terrible, horrible, miserable, "let's just elope or skip this all together." time at both. Sample sizes were made for women who are a size 2-6, with a few in the 8-10 range - I wear a 12-14. When I asked for larger samples, the other places brought them!! But they were MUCH bigger sizes, causing the opposite problem, or they were more of a "second wedding" style, or OUT of style completely, pulled from a yellowing back closet. So, you can imagine my lack of excitement when I headed to The Crystal Bride on 2/20/16. I was like "ef all this, imma wear a power red lip, try on some dresses, cry, and then have a drink to get on." But it was NOT terrible, it was PERFECTION. I worked with Rebecca, and when I explained my problem, like I told the other shops, she not only listened, but she TOOK IT INTO CONSIDERATION. She pulled samples in my size, in modern, up-to-date styles, and did not scoff or laugh at my hips not lyin'. She was kind, helpful, and before I put on a dress, told me the budget, the risk/change of alterations, and possible pitfalls. I only worked with her, but I heard similar things from the other women as they assisted future brides. It was a busy Saturday morning, but they made everyone feel like THE one and only bride. Crystal Bride is the first place that I went to check out wedding dresses and I wound up not purchasing a dress after my appointment. So I guess you could take my review with a grain of salt. I found the whole experience to be a lot more easy going and fun than I thought it'd be, therefore the 5 stars. I'd wholly recommend any bride to ask for Kayla as their consultant. Street parking (thankfully not parallel parking) was easy on a weekday evening. You fill out a quick questionnaire before you're ushered upstairs to where the wedding gowns are. I honestly had a lot of anxiety about dress shopping. I've already been inundated with tons of unsolicited opinions on how my wedding day should be and it's all but killed my excitement for planning. I was worried about a pushy sales lady just making it all worse but Kayla was the farthest thing from it. She listened, was respectful of my budget, and was so easy to get along with. My appointment started with her encouraging me to take a look and pull a few dresses that may catch my eye. She explained that since it was my first time dress shopping, it'd be better to start by trying on a few dresses initially so that I don't get overwhelmed. After I tried on each dress, she'd ask what I liked about it, what I could change, etc. I appreciated that Kayla asked if I preferred that she help me get into gowns or if I'd rather have my cousin help me and then she'd step back into the fitting room to finish clipping the dress. She just made me feel completely at ease and never gave her opinion unless I asked first. I wound up not purchasing a dress just yet because I feel compelled to check out at least one more place. I really loved a Maggie Sottero dress though and upon looking it up later online, realized that Crystal Bride had priced the dress fairly and even competitively. Kayla was very transparent about additional, possible charges like a rush charge or alterations. Making an appointment online or via phone is easy to do. I love everything about Crystal Bride except for the limited hours. Yeah, the location is a bit out there, but Geneva is a cool place to go. Each time I went there, I tried to take advantage of the small downtown, shop lined main street vibe it has. In particular, I want to note Chef Roby's All Chocolate Kitchen on 3rd for chatting, Old Towne Pub on State St for food, and the nearby Starbuck's for hanging out or working. Anyway, back to the focus, Crystal Bride - great place to get dresses for a wedding. My friend got her wedding dress here (first dress she tried!), and after visiting at least 5 places, we found my bridesmaid dress here. We both worked with Sarah who was both positive but honest, which helped us with our selections. The upstairs of the shop is where we had our fittings. It's beautiful up there with wooden floors and definitely doesn't feel like a standard David's Bridal or even House of Brides. For all fittings going forward I only came into the downstairs area of the shop. I liked that the fittings were available in the shop. As I stated, the limited hours are my only criticism. I don't think they are open on Sundays and during the week, only a few nights are available. In making the appointments, the staff wasn't very good about picking up the phone, and I left a few voicemail messages - not sure if the time I requested was confirmed or not. I walked into Crystal Bride on a Saturday afternoon a little discouraged with wedding dress shopping. I was searching for a tea length gown that had straps of some sort. I had tried on at least twenty dresses, and met a lot of resistance with sales people at other stores who felt I needed to give up on my "must haves." Nancy greeted my cousin, sister, and myself instantly and sent us upstairs to begin looking around. Nancy began showing me tea length dresses, but I was somewhat unimpressed. I explained to her my vision, and she thought about it for a few minutes. She came back with the most beautiful Maggie Sottero gown. It was beautiful with two problems: full length and strapless. However, it had a jacket. Nancy quickly began explaining what we could do with this dress to make it my own, and perfection for our Rat Pack wedding. I walked out to the mirrors, and I knew it was the one. It fit and flattered in all the right areas. Nancy continued to work with me throughout fittings to ensure I had the fit and look that I had set before her months before. Ompara, their seamstress did an amazing job of executing the changes. At first, she was worried and even double checked with Nancy that I wanted to cut off three to four feet from my dress.
