I loved Catherine Simms Bridal! I went to several other bridal shops before this one and Catherine Simms definitely has the most friendly and helpful employees. You can tell they are really passionate about bridal, it made the whole experience much better. One thing I loved about the women working there is how dedicated they are to each bride. I would stop by to just look at "my" dress and every time- whether it was packed or just myself in the shop, their attention & friendliness to the client never changed. Catherine Simms was the last shop I visited, so I was worried about ordering my dress just months from the wedding but everyone at the shop always assured me the dress would arrive on time- and it did. I always felt welcomed and calm after talking to one of the ladies, they went above and beyond to make my dream dress a reality. They had a large variety of dresses and all women were very knowledgeable about prices, alterations, shipping dates, etc. They also have an alteration woman who works with their shop that did an amazing job altering my dress to fit me perfectly. I had a very specific vision for my dress and she nailed it!!!! I got my veil there as well, this is a one stop shop; I would definitely recommend this shop to all brides looking for bridal gowns, as well as other wedding attire!!! I got married on July 28th and received so many compliments on my dress from Catherine Simms! I was referred to Catherine Simms by a friend and the first dress I tried on was my wedding dress! The service there was outstanding and they made me feel comfortable while I was trying on different styles and finding the perfect dress. I did not end up getting my gown here, but my appointment with Jessica was great. They are a smaller shop, and have a more elegant feel than a Davids or larger chain. It was very busy when I came in, but Jessica made me feel valued and I never went by feeling lost or ignored. She ended up pulling a dress from a mannequin because she thought I would love it, and she was right. The dress I was drawn to there was a private label. I didn't see others in the line but I really like that they had something exclusive, and that small business was helping small business. I did not find their prices to be out or range compared to other stores in the area. Definitely give Catherine Simms a try, but undoubtedly make an appointment, as it isn't extremely large and can get busy. read more

If you're in the Naperville area, it's worth checking out, but I didn't personally think it was worth the drive, as there's not much selection (compared to other shops I had visited). The ladies who work there were extremely pleasant and helpful, but I wasn't wowed by any of the dresses. Also, I believe they're moving locations soon, but this one can be easy to miss. Called because I really wanted a Callista dress and as a plus size bride, it's hard enough to fine amazing wedding dresses. I called and left a voicemail and did not get a call back for a week and half when I was enquiring about the Callista dresses they had in stock. When they finally did call me back, she kept putting me on hold to go look in the stock room to see what they had, which meant that she heard my voicemail and instead of getting the information before calling me back, she kept putting me on hold to go look. All I asked for was the style numbers of the dresses. By the way... she only had TWO Callista dresses from a couple of seasons ago. Also, if you are a plus size bride, don't even bother. They don't really even cater to the size 16 and over crowd. She said that as a size 24, I had maybe 6 to 8 dresses to try on. I HIGHLY reccomend Shelly's Couture in West Dundee (worth the drive!) because they had way over 20+ dresses just for plus size girls, not to mention an enormous selection for smaller women. Overall, the people were unhelpful, aloof, and seem confused by the simplest question. Not worth it! read more

I have nothing but GOOD things to say about Catherine Simms. Before buying my wedding dress i went to several locations and ended up here. I was up in the air and very indecisive about what i wanted in a wedding gown. I had two sales girls helping me from beginning to end with both of them telling me they would help me until i found something even though there was another appointment coming in. About 2 hours later i decided on a dress that was perfect for our venue. A few weeks later my fiance and i decided to change our venue and it made me realize the dress i bought was too plain and didn't have that "romantic" feel it should have. I called Karen (the owner) and explained our situation. They had already begun some alterations on the dress and was willing to work with me. So i set up another appointment and they ended up just putting teh cost of what i originally paid into the new dress i went with. They were so professional and accomodating to my situation. We also had a very short engagement and planned our wedding in 4 months. Getting my bridesmaid dresses was a breeze. I would HIGHLY recommend Catherine Simms to anyone if you're looking for professional and accomodating services. This is your place!!! (and just a side note: during my first initial visit both of the sales girls were very knowledgeable on the gowns and designers. they were actually giving me runway information on 2 of the gowns i was interested in without me even asking them for that information) read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Today myself (the bride) and 3 of my bridesmaids were literally kicked out of the shop when I told the sales lady for the 3rd time that my girls wouldn't be buying their dresses there. I live in champaign, il and bought my bridal gown at Michelle's Bridal. I have 4 bridesmaids who live in the Chicagoland area, all who have children under the age of 3. I called Catherine's requesting an appointment for a day that I was going to be here visiting the, for them to try on the many different options of the Bill Levkoff line. When we got there I told the sales woman that I got mine and my maid of honors dress as Michelle's and that I brought the others to try on to see which they wanted. As the appointment goes on, two other girls walked in with no appointments asking to look at dresses, which is fine. We didn't need her undivided attention. After the first bridesmaid decided on her style she returned all of the dresses to the sales lady who gave her a contract to fill out. My maid brought me the contract and asked if she should fill it out or not, so I returned it to the sales lady and told her again that we were just there to try on. To which she replied 'oh. You're not buying anything?' I told her for the third time 'no. I told you that we were just here to try on. I asked you if you were familiar with Michelle's Bridal in champaign, when you asked where I got my dress. And I said that's where the MOH ordered from'. During the convo a second sales lady walked in and was filled in on the situation, so rudely by the first lady. After she was done she came over to our dressing room and said 'I need those dresses back for our customers.' I gave her the dresses we were done with and instead of a thank you she told us that since we weren't buying that we needed to get out of the dressing room for the people who were. Which is fine, I get that you have a business to run. But I told them on the phone when I made the appointment and as soon as we walked in the door that we were just trying on. AND. there were only 2 other patrons trying on bridesmaid dresses in the back of the salon. We weren't taking space away from anyone. When I asked if they could take the girls measurements before we left they so rudely refused, said I should have been more honest when I booked the appointment, told me how they had to refuse other brides when I called to make the appointment, and how they don't do measurements for anyone not buying a dress. I will be contacting the owner. Catherine's Bridal will not be receiving mine, or anyone I knows business from here on out. I ordered my wedding dress from here and had a great experience. It is a small shop so the selection is a bit limited, but if they carry a dress you love they are great to work with. I got into the dress shopping kinda late but I still got my dress in plenty of time. The alterations were done beautifully -- and, unlike Renee, definitely didn't have a problem with sizing when ordering. The dress was reasonably priced -- the rush fee was a little more than the price I was looking at online, but the dress itself cost less to my surprise, so it all kinda balanced out. Same price but much more personal attention. Everyone working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. I never felt pressured to buy anything, they were happy to give input but stayed very low key. It was definitely a more mellow, relaxed vibe compared to some of the other shops I visited. I picked out a few dresses to be polite and actually ended up falling in love with a dress. Fitting rooms are nice and spacious. Lots of mirrors and pedestals in the store. I'm a bridesmaid at my best friend's wedding and the maid of honor scheduled a couple of places to go to the day we went shopping for dresses. A bit about my best friend - she's incredibly nice, sweet and not at all overbearing. Definitely not the "bridezilla"/high maintenance types that would demand exactly what she wanted. So we were hoping to go to a place that accommodated her personality so she would feel supported and comfortable to express her opinions on the dresses. We went to three other places including David's Bridal and were so disappointed with the selection at each. Particularly, we were disappointed at how some of the sales associates were even more opinionated than the bride and wouldn't let her get a word in on what she wanted! Then we saw Catherine Simm's Bridal. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, we knew this would have a higher quality selection with much more variety. Very nice looking boutique and super classy. Since there were so many beautiful dresses to choose from, it was hard for all of us to decide but we felt that the sales associates guided us in the right direction. The selections weren't too expensive either which surprised us since the dresses were of higher quality. We ended up paying ~$200 per dress. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience at this shop! I called last minute to try and come in to try on dresses and they were able to squeeze me in. They have a great variety of dresses! Jessica was extremely friendly and helpful with everything and always took the time to help! I ordered my dress, it came very fast and in plenty of time for my wedding (with months to spare)! I needed to have my dress altered very slightly and their seamstress Violet did an amazing job! I also ordered my bridesmaid dresses from here as well! Like a previous review said, their prices are great. I went to another bridal shop with my bridesmaids and they tried on the same exact dress, but the other shop wanted at least $50 more and wouldn't match the price even when I had told them I found it at Catherine Simms for less! I'm from Colorado and it was the last day of my fittings and was starting to lose hope in finding a dress within my budget ~$600. I cannot say more good things about this Bridal Shop. On a whim with an hour to burn before my next appointment I saw this shop and went in as a walk-in - so glad I did! I found the most beautiful, high-quality, gorgeous, stunning dress for my wedding at their sample sale. It really did feel like all the stars had aligned because this dress fit me like a glove. This bridal shop is amazing. The staff is so kind and makes you feel as if you've known them for years. I'm a hairstylist, and I'm the bridal industry and I have never come across such a caring group! I will start by saying I bought my gown elsewhere, and they still did my alterations and took care of me as if I had purchased with them! (Which, I wish I had) I did however have my bridesmaid dresses purchased from them. And they are stunning! The alterations were reasonable, and done soooo well!!!! I had used Catherine Sims for my wedding for my bridesmaids and I was a maid of honor in my cousin's wedding and she had ordered her bridesmaids dresses through them. First, for my wedding, I loved the dress selection and not many places had the fuchsia color I was looking for so when I found that Catherine Simms had it, I was very happy. Their prices are a bit on the higher end. The customer service was pretty friendly and the dresses came in when expected. Sometimes when I would call to follow up on my order, I got the answering machine. On our first visit, my bridesmaids and I had a pretty pleasant experience. I picked out the dress and the manager measured the girls and wrote their sizes down along with their name in my file at the store. When my bridesmaids called in to give their credit card information at a later date, the lady they talked to on the phone said she couldn't find the sheet with our sizes, that there was only one of the 4 bridesmaids sizes on the sheet. Then the lady asked me what size the girls are in regular dresses and it will be the same. Not true! Not sure where she got off thinking that. I don't work in a wedding dress shop and know that the street size and label size is not always the same with designers. Turns out later on they called me back and realized it was on the back of the sheet. Wow. Thank God we found that out before all my bridesmaids had to go back in to get re measured. Also, when my sister's dress came in, her dress was tight. It didn't look like she gained weight or anything so I asked her what size the manager ordered for her and she told me a 14(which is really a street size 10 in the dress). I was confused and wondered why she was measured wrong because I know my sister is a street size 12 and would needed a 16. She ended up having to get it taken out and pay extra. Now onto my cousin's wedding where I was a maid of honor. My bridesmaid dress arrived and I was coming in to get fitted. It was very big and long. O and I have never stood up in a wedding before until this and I didn't know that I would need to bring the exact bra I would be wearing with the dress for the wedding. I was only told, by the lady reminding me of my appointment, to bring the shoes I would be wearing. I live 40 min away from the shop and was told I needed my strapless bra and I would need to come back in again. No sorry or apology stating that they forgot to tell me that. So I rescheduled to come in another time. I came in the next appointment and got the alterations done. Then I had to come back again for a 3rd time to pick up the dress and make sure it was done right. It was just annoying. Overall, their selection is great and there is a wide range of colors and a nice ambiance. My bridesmaid dresses turned out beautiful for my wedding. There was just a few hiccups with a few things. I just didn't appreciate the miscommunication. They are sweet ladies, just need to get on top of their game more and do more training maybe. read more

I am so glad that I started my wedding dress shopping here! It was such a breath of fresh air as opposed to the over packed, large stores. I found my wedding dress that first day, but I took about a week to think about it which they were so understanding of. They encouraged me to take photos and think about the decision, and I never felt pressure which I appreciated. The photos helped so much. After looking at them, I easily decided between two dresses. From this store, we purchased my wedding dress, veil, flower girl dress, and bridesmaid dresses. Everything came in well before the wedding and the fits were right on. When I was getting fitted, they mentioned a hollow to hem cost which they never said at the beginning. After I said okay but that I didn't know, they immediately took off the 100 cost and took responsibility for not informing me upfront. I really appreciate this service. Every girl who works there is so kind and warm. It was excellent to work with people who truly wanted me to be happy. Toward the end, I was getting stressed about the fit of the dress, and with the help of the girls and my mom, they got me through the stress and fixed the problem. On the day of, I felt gorgeous, and I received SO many compliments on the dress. I strongly recommend Catherine Simms. What EXCELLENT people to work with! read more

This store has an excellent selection of dresses and great customer service. I went to 3 bridal stores with my bridesmaids before coming to this store. The store prior to this one had poor selection of dresses and poor customer service. The David's Bridal in Schaumburg made me feel bad for shooting down my ideas and was highly opinionated. Catherine Simms had many bridesmaid dresses with different colors. The store looks elegant and classy. They have big mirrors, platforms and changing rooms. The lady that helped me was very nice and conversational with me while I was waiting for my bridesmaids to try on dresses. She truly was interested in my wedding plans. My bridesmaids had a difficult time choosing a dress since there was many that they liked. We finally chose a dress and they came in just this week. I got my wedding dress here and it came in less than a month later! They were very helpful and took their time with myself and my bridal entourage. I returned with my bridesmaids to search for a dress for them...the lady who helped us was very nice but they didn't have the exact color I wanted in the dress we wanted...she sort of said "well good luck!" And we were on our way. She did end up giving some helpful hints and wishing us on our way. BRIDES BEWARE... I went to Catherine Simms bridal shop for both my bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses. The manager (Karen) pretended to be sweet and interested...at first. Like most brides, I was excited to begin my planning. Boy was I wrong...What should have been an exciting experience turned into a brides WORST nightmare. To begin with, the shop moved locations without telling me or my bridesmaids. I found out when I got a phone call from one of my bridesmaids who went to their old location (an empty shop) for her fitting. How embarrassing!!! I had to call several times to locate them at their new location (they NEVER return phone calls). I let is slide and tried to think positive, so I had some of my out of state bridesmaids come in over Thanksgiving break so we can look at the dresses and get fitted. Needless to say, we planned our entire weekend around this. It should have been so much fun!!! The night before we were supposed to go, Karen called to cancel because she had to "driver her daughter back to school." What a joke! I asked if anyone else could come in and she said "no." I proceeded to tell her that I had out of town guests in and we scheduled our weekend around the fitting (as my bridesmaids were already here). To add insult to injury, Karen replied, "You planned your weekend around this?" Not to be rude, but we had this appointment scheduled for more than 2 weeks (I have 13 girls in my bridal party). She had plenty of time to let me know. The night before was just too late. I was so upset at Karen's lack of concern that I decided to take my business elsewhere. If she can do this once, she can do it twice. This enraged Karen. She told me I "wasted enough of her time" and then hung up the phone on me. When I tried to call back she pretended like I dialed the wrong number. Some of my girls called to get back their measurements and she refused to give them to my bridesmaids. Stating again, "You wasted my time." Is this woman serious??? Also, YOU CAN GET THE SAME DRESSES THEY SELL THERE AT A MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BETTER PRICE. I found the exact same dress and the exact same designer at House of Brides for $60.00 dollars less. Catherine Simms will tell you they are the "best of the best," BUT THEY ARE NOT!!!! They are only concerned with themselves and are unwilling to accommodate to your needs. This is the last thing a bride wants before her big day. Karen will come off sweet and innocent, but watch out ladies...She will DESTROY your planning. If you like what this place carries, don't be fooled...Shop around, you will find the same dresses and designers for a much better deal. Besides, they only have a limited selestion! I'm telling you ladies...Check out House of Brides or google the designer before you make any purchases from Catherine Simms. I had a great experience at Catherine Simms Bridal. It's not far from where I work, so I stopped in late one afternoon on a weekday just to do some casual recon on wedding gowns. I ended up trying on several dresses with Louise (who is so awesome!). I was worried about finding something I really liked AND that was within my budget (under $2000), and I found several good candidates. While they do have several ball gown styles, I was after something more fitted and found the selection to be quite good. After shopping around some more, I came back to Catherine Simms and bought a stunning strapless, fitted lace gown. The order came in within about four months, which allowed plenty of time for alterations. Their seamstress Violet is great, and the cost of alterations seemed fair. Overall, I strongly recommend this bridal salon. Regarding the location - it's true that their Rte 59 location is easy to miss. The key is to look for the Olive Garden. It's in a strip mall behind it, facing Aurora. read more

Brides, do not put your bridesmaids through the experience of working with this bridal boutique! Let me count the ways in which it was an unpleasant experience from beginning to end: 1.) The dress the bride picks only comes in four styles, all strapless. I ask about having straps added and they assure me it will be no problem. Dress arrives, I go in for a fitting (more on that below) and the seamstress pins up how the dress will look with straps. She rings me up at the register and the total comes to nearly the cost of the entire dress! I knew the additional fabric and labor weren't free but I could've gotten an entire second dress for the same price! This is just the beginning. 2.) Not only are fitting appointments hard to come by, middle of the day, and scheduled weeks and weeks out-- even longer if you can't clear your schedule on the few days per month the seamstress has availability-- they're ultimately meaningless. Every time I went, I went through the process of making an appointment, sometimes changing my work schedule to accommodate their limited openings and every time I would sit for 30 minutes to an hour while the salespeople attended to walk-ins. I understand brides are their primary market but after a bridesmaid (who could be a future customer) drops hundreds of dollars on a dress at your store, you might be courteous enough to acknowledge her or at least apologize for the long waits as you take walk-ins. On more than one occasion, I was told to go sit down and wait while they helped a walk-in bride who came in after me. 3.) It may come as no surprise then that the staff members are just plain rude. From talking poorly about other customers to fighting amongst themselves, the salespeople were the furthest thing from professional. Taking personal calls in the middle of the appointments, talking about their problems at home and generally being brusque and uninviting soured every interaction I had. Each time, willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, I chalked it up to a bad day or working with the wrong consultant but ultimately, every appointment (I attended seven between myself and the bride) left a bad impression. 4.) When I return for the fitting after the alterations have been completed, the straps are way too loose and after asking her to tighten them twice, they start to look lopsided. Each time I would ask for a slight adjustment, the seamstress would roll her eyes and sigh, taking the dress back and storming away. Once again, I paid the price of an entire second dress for these alterations. After I put the dress on again and the straps are still loose and crooked, one of the salespeople pulls the seamstress away to tend to a bride. When she returns, she says my appointment is over and she needs to see other customers. I point out the problems and she tells me to take it home and try it on there. If I still have problems with it, I can schedule another appointment at a later date. Needless to say, I never returned and brought the dress to another seamstress who tore all the alterations out and redid them for a fraction of what I originally paid. In fact, she said the only thing I truly paid for was the additional material that matched the dress which they wouldn't let me purchase and leave with, forcing me to use their in-house seamstress from the get-go. I paid the cost of an entire second dress for two strips of matching fabric. It's such a shame this boutique doesn't see the value in offering good customer service to bridesmaids in the marrying age range. Not only are they losing that customer but all of her similarly aged and engaged friends. I made a point to tell anyone at the wedding who asked about the dress (three of whom are getting married in the next year!) to never ever patronize Catherine Simms Bridal. read more

I tried on several wedding dresses here. Overall, this store did not have much that coincided with my taste. There were a lot of big satin ball gowns, lots of dresses with ruching, heaving beading, and other more elaborate details. Very few dresses on the simpler side. Very few lace dresses. I felt that the selection would probably be more likely to appeal to a younger bride. The sales girls were polite and fairly helpful, although they were young and didn't seem very knowledgeable about the designers, modifications to dresses, alterations, etc. And they were having some rather personal conversations with each other while they were trying to help me in and out of dresses, which struck me as somewhat unprofessional. That said, Catherine Simms has a lot of dresses in their stock, and the prices seemed pretty good. read more

I worked with Jessica at Catherine Simms and I had incredibly positive time. I am pretty knowledgable about dresses/designers and some bridal stores made me feel uneasy when I felt like I knew more about the products than the sales representatives did. This was absolutely not true of Jessica. She really knew the dresses in the store and what services were available (which designers were able to do custom modifications, tailoring, etc) and what works for different body types. My consultant/stylist there was amazing! She was so nice and she was the only one working on that busy day, but it didn't feel like I was ignored or anything. She had two of us trying on dresses and she was very attentive to the both of us (although I can't speak for the other bride)! They do have a smaller selection, but many pretty ones. I had an EXCELLENT experience at this store and would highly recommend a visit to any bride looking for her dress or bridesmaids/mother of the bride or groom. While I ended up getting my dress elsewhere, it was a hard choice because I really loved several dresses at Catherine Simms and I absolutely LOVED the service and ladies who work there. I've used them for bridesmaid dresses for wedding I've been in and I have friends who have gotten their wedding dresses there and everyone agrees, this is an excellent shop! My daughter found THE dress at one of the Big Box Bridal stores down the road but we did not like the way we were treated there at all. We called around and were delighted that Catherine Simms carried not only the same line but also had a sample of THE dress in the shop. When we went in we were struck by the difference in the way we were treated - here everything was calm and professional. The staff listened to what we wanted - both style and budget! The dress was ordered and came in early. The alterations were done on time and perfect the first time. At no time were we ever pressured to buy something else (accessories, bridesmaids dresses etc) although these items are on display and we were shown items we inquired about. They delivered actually what they promised, when they promised and for the agreed upon price. Our only surprises were pleasant ones! read more

Beautiful bridal shop with huge dressing rooms. Very open and clean. We went there for bridesmaid dresses only as the bride had already purchased her dress elsewhere. Louise was our consultant. We requested to take our time & browse & she let us do just that. She gave us some recommendations but was not pushy at all or overbearing. We had a great experience there. Visited on a week night when it wasn't crowded. Great selection of bridesmaid dresses. Highly recommend. read more
