The seamstress asked if I was pregnant during my initial drop-off visit. I am not. During my pick-up visit, my dress was hanging among others unprotected and had small but visible damages across the front waistline. I brought my wedding dress to Fifi 4 1/2 months before my wedding - after 5 rounds of alterations and more tears than I am willing to admit to, she returned it to me two weeks before my wedding with the top ruined. She altered the dress incorrectly, removing fabric from the bust seam, which resulted in a poor fit. In addition, the silk was pressed at too high of heat, which lead to the fabric being scorched. I was forced to take my dress to another seamstress with less than two weeks until my wedding who REBUILT the front of my dress using the fabric from the train. I cannot warn potential customers enough. I was so disappointed by the quality of work Fifi performed on my wedding dress and the lack of accountability she accepted for the condition of the final product. read more

I wish I could say I had a good experience with Fifi's, as they have been around for a long time and came highly recommended. I made an alterations appointment 3 months before my wedding for a dress that I was told "fit me like a glove and would need very minor alterations". When I walked in, she had me put on the dress and immediately started cutting the hem. There was no discussion of pricing or approximately how much the alterations would cost. The bridal shop where I bought my dress told me to expect around $200 in alterations because the fit was great. When Fifi only pinned the hem, the top of the shoulders and did a bustle, I was excited that only minor changes were needed. She had me take off the dress and brought me to her desk. There, she handed me a bill for $850. I was legitimately in shock. She told me the dress needed to be cleaned (it was from a sample sale), and the cleaning fee was included at $250. I didn't know what to do as this is the first wedding I've been a part of. I felt forced to pay for the services as she had already cut my dress. She also required full payment that day, that moment rather than "payment upon completion" with a downpayment. As soon as I left the shop, I cried and felt blindsided. I dealt with the financial hit even though everyone was telling me I overpaid. I returned for my second appointment and she stated the bustle she previously did would not work so she was going to redo it. I came in for the final appointment and she said there was no need to try the dress on. When the wedding day came, the bustle was completely ineffective and came undone multiple times, making it extremely difficult to dance or to enjoy the evening because I had to carry my train in my hand. It also was very complicated to figure out. For the amount I paid, I was very unhappy and would really not recommend her shop. read more

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS!! My experience with Fifi is one I will never forget. I had three sessions with her. The first one was to pick the dress, specify where I need alterations, and pay. The first session went fine, even though I had to pay almost as much as the dress for alterations. Considering Fifi has a third party who is actually shipping the dress from another country, I thought this was a little outrageous. For my second session, we had to make alterations again, because I had specified I did not want cleavage showing. When I tried the dress on, my cleavage was very much out and I felt super uncomfortable. Even though she ended up fixing it, it was annoying because she kept trying to convince my mom and I that I am young and it is okay. After that session, she told me to comeback for one last fitting where she will add a piece to my upper half so no cleavage can be seen. She also told me to bring whoever will be bustling the dress, since this would be my final dress fitting. On my final fitting day, I brought my mom, my sister, and my two best friends. All who will be helping with the bustle. The fitting started off fine and then it took a turn for the worst. As I tried on the dress, everything was covered and I was happy. After this, we asked Fifi if she can show the girls how to bustle the dress. She said she couldn't see and went and got her glasses to show us how to do it. She spent a couple minutes trying to figure out where the first button was. THEN she realized, that she actually NEVER put the buttons on there to bustle. Instead of apologizing for her wrong, she played it off and said she will get that done fast. 15-20 minutes later, she came back. Fifi then had me try on the dress and then showed the girls how to bustle. She had three placements on the dress. Once it was bustled, the girls realized that you can all of the bottom lining of the dress and it looked bad. When they tried explaining that to Fifi, she started getting really worked up and mad. You can tell she did not like anyone criticizing her work. Also keep in mind, she rushed the bustles so the lining was showing because the bustles were not even. When my sister told her that, she tried to gaslight us and make us believe that this is how this particular dress is made. She also then started to blame the company who made the dress and said it wasn't her alterations that were the issue. After going back and forth, she took it back, did some changes and had her assistant bring it out again. We tried on the dress and the nothing had changed. We told the assistant that it was still uneven and asked the assistant to go call Fifi. Fifi then came into the room asking " What is wrong now?!" We were all very frustrated with her already and hearing that just made us even more mad. Although we had five girls in the room, only my sister spoke. She said the issue was that the inside of the dress still shows and it looks bad that everyone can see that. Fifi then got mad and said there is too many people in the room, this is too overwhelming and told me to follow her and stormed out of the room and SLAMMED THE DOOR in my family and friends faces. We were speechless. This was so unprofessional and beyond rude. She then went on to tell me that I should not have brought everyone here. First of, she told me to bring whoever needed to learn how to bustle. Second, this was my final fitting and I am getting married in a week. This experience should have been a happy one with my girls. instead, she humiliated me in front of my family and friends and acted so unprofessional just because she was upset. At the end of the day, we decided to only do one button for the bustle because clearly she couldn't fix what we were asking her to. I walked out crying because she ruined the whole day/mood for all of us. She is lucky that we held our tongue and let her act childish in front of us. She ruined a moment that should have been memorable and special for me when picking up my wedding dress. I will NEVER recommend Fifi to anyone. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! read more

My experience was okay with this tailor. Overall I think it was overpriced, I paid $1000 for two wedding dresses that did not need any major modifications. My first dress was brought in to a dry cleaners that did not do a good job at getting small marks off, and they messed up the mesh netting on the top portion. (This of course was not Fifi's doing and they did help to fix this for free). By the end of my wedding night, the cups had ripped out of my top and one of the buttons for my bustle completely fell off, causing my dress to drag on the floor the remaining few hours. When I came in for a second fitting for my other dress, we decided that it was going to be short and the technician moved the pins around. Honestly, when I try it on now, I still think that this dress is too short as my toes show with every step, although I have not worn it yet. Overall I think 1k is steep for not being 100% satisfied. read more

I brought my bridesmaids dress to Fifi's based on great online reviews and personal recommendations. The first thing I told the seamstress at my appointment was that it needed to be let out through the bodice. She disagreed. After standing in the dress while she pinned me for other alterations, I thought maybe she was right. It was tight, but tolerable. I decided against having it let out. She told me the dress would be done nine days later, and that I could come by any time that day to get it. The scheduled pickup date arrived, and I got a call in the morning from the shop asking for more time with my dress. They wanted me to come by the next day at 5:00pm. This took away all my wiggle room, but I didn't want my dress rushed, so I told them I would be back the next day. Without getting into all the hairy, frustrating details, they botched my dress - the detrimental problem being that the bodice was now significantly tighter, when I had told the seamstress I thought it was already bordering on uncomfortable. It was beyond uncomfortable now - it was intolerable. It took the seamstress a good 2-3 minutes of tugging and pulling and grunting to get my dress zipped up. I expressed my concerns to the seamstress, and she brushed me off. Between how horrible the alterations were, and the fact that they left me literally no time to fix the issue, I had to go out that night and purchase a second dress. Fifi was out of town throughout this entire debacle, and she remained out of town for a week after the wedding. When she got back into town, I could not get in touch with her. It took 3 voicemails and an additional 6 days to reach her, and when I finally met up with her, she took the situation from bad to worse. She was defensive, she talked over me, and she even attempted to convince me this was somehow my fault - saying that I shouldn't have bought such a cheaply made dress, that I should have bought a larger size, that I didn't allow enough time for alterations (mind you, I ran my timeline by her via email a good 3-4 weeks before I brought my dress in, and she gave me the ok). Overall it took several phone calls, multiple voicemails (none of which were returned), and four visits to the shop to get Fifi to give me a refund for my alterations. I wanted her to pay for the dress she had ruined, but she refused. I decided to take the money and cut my losses. I'm willing to accept that the poor alterations and the lack of time to fix them was all just a horrible mistake. What I can't accept is the complete lack of customer service that followed. If I wasn't being ignored I was being blamed. They rendered an important dress for an important day completely useless to me, and then they tried to tell me it was my fault. Needless to say, I can't advise you strongly enough to avoid this shop. read more

I had my dress altered here for my Summer 2019 Wedding. Fifi was friendly and always nice. The communication with her wasn't as I would have liked because she never understood what I was asking her and it made me a bit uneasy. I felt that the price I paid for my alterations was extremely expensive. It's unfortunate that brides don't have some type of comparison for their alterations, as it's typically their first wedding and have no comparison for what they should pay for alterations. For example I was told to get a petticoat and she 100% recommends one, she charges $95 for them. Mine seemed cheap and the waist piece was unraveling before I wore it for my wedding. I didn't trust the pricing for several of the alterations and add ons I had. But it was too late to go elsewhere. I didn't purchase my dress at Fifi's and it was a beautiful dress to begin with, Fifi made my dress fit me so well and it was stunning on the day of!! My only complains besides pricing are that she was supposed to hem the front a little bit more and pull in one of my sleeves as discussed during the final fitting, but neither were done. I was tripping on my dress the entire day and had to adjust it with pins (which never ended up fixing it fully). The sleeve was an easy fix but I shouldn't have to fix a dress I spent too much money to alter. read more

Fifi is clearly very skilled, seeing as she can sew you a whole wedding dress from scratch. However, if you have minor alteration needs, you may find that other places charge less and have more pleasant service. I called for a quote on hemming a 2-layer chiffon dress from floor to knee-length. Fifi quoted $15-55, saying she was inexpensive. Cool. When I drove over and had her look at the dress (including two ribbon things that also needed to be shortened slightly), she said it'd be $75. Woah. $75 to shorten a $99 dress. It's understandable that the price would be different -- I was just shocked that it was basically double the price range she conveyed over the phone. But that's not the part that really upset me. While on the phone, she freaked out when I said I needed it done within 2 weeks, saying that it was very late but that she could do it. But then in person, she berated me several times about being "very late," repeatedly and agitatedly questioning *why* I was so late, exclaiming that other places would charge rush fees. And when I balked at the $75 price, she immediately asked what I did for a living. She asked where I lived and other unnecessary questions. It seemed really unprofessional and made me feel like crap. As it turns out, other tailors I later visited did not bat an eye at my (at that point) one-week timeframe, and their fees for the same job were anywhere from $32-60. So yeah, this was definitely an "Eek!" experience, but I'll go with 2 stars since I didn't use her services. read more

A little background I had called the shop in March to ask how much time they needed to make all the alterations for my dress and Fifi told me to come in at the beginning of May for my end of September wedding. My first experience with Fifi was awesome. She took time to explain everything to me and seemed really knowledgeable. However, my second fitting (over four months later) was a different story. I was originally told that I would be contacted in mid-August to come back for my second fitting. I never heard anything from them. I had to call a few times to set up an appointment for my second fitting which had been pushed back till September 12th. (I was getting married out of town and need the dress by September 23rd). When I went in on the 12th the hem had not been finished. The cups had not been sown in. The straps were suppose to be detachable, but had been sown in. The back of the dress was suppose to be let out and changed to a zipper and buttons, but had not. The only thing done was the bustle. When we asked about the back of the dress Fifi said we hadn't asked for the back to be changed and we had to get the paper work out a show her. Once we proved the back was ordered she took the dress and had a seamstress quickly sow in the zipper. When she came back and I tried it on - the dress didn't fit. She explains that she forgot to let out the seam around the zipper before sowing it in and now the only option was to make the back into low back. She explains how it will look and I agree. I ask her about the straps being detachable and she says she didn't think they would stay on very well and just decided to sow them on without consulting me.
