Since I don't mess around trying to do that stuff myself, & I avoid going to Best Buy at all costs, I take my equipment to Soundwerks. Guy, who tends to be a bit of a cranky old man at times, is very honest & does good work. He even fixed a problem with my speaker antenna that he noticed while connecting my subwoofers. Downside? I haven't spent less than $200 every time I've came here. I can't really say how their prices compare to other places, since I've only gone here & Best Buy (best buy installs your equipment free when you buy their overrpriced stuff). So if you know & trust somebody that knows how to install car stereo equipment, call them. If not, come here. You'll shell out a couple hundred most likely, but you can feel safe with the job they do.

I was waiting for my mom's car to be seen due to auto dealership stating that the car alarm (auto start) has to be fixed with this establishment since that is where the warranty is at now. While waiting in a super cold space (sets 2 people) for my appointment (while the staff were sitting in a warm environment just 2 feet away from me), one of the employees left the service window open, and when he saw a woman walking down the path coming from outside, he "ANNOUNCED", who of the workers was taking "this one". Not sure if they meant because she was African American or because she was a woman, but regardless its not a good thing when something like this could be said and they feel its okay. When they noticed that I was sitting down and able to hear what was said, one of the employees said "Someone is there and they heard you." Ummmm awkward, it just got uncomfortable. The employee who was took my car (that lasted 15 minutes) came back and said "Oh I'm not saying your mom is lying but there's nothing wrong with the auto start." Ummm again, I didn't travel 30 miles to be told this and also I tested my mom's car and she was right. This really bothered me but I kept my composure. I was told that "maybe" she thought there was a problem but the best they could do is exchange the remote starts. Oh although I'm under warranty, that would still be a $20 charge. Hmmm, this really makes me mad! Just not impressed and just not feeling this place. I certainly will be getting in touch with the dealership to let them know of my trip.

Off the start everything went well, consistent with other reviews…read more Then things got more technical and complicated and went the other direction. Initially I had some speakers installed in my whip, then an amp, then a subwoofer. The crux of the issue was the technical abilities and quality of work from "the Guy" who does the car stereo work/installation - Robbie. I had to go back for consistent re-work, things were not operating as they should, the stereo would turn off when I turned the vehicle off (not consistent with factory settings), the amp was not hooked up correctly, it was overall poor quality work. And after my third visit, and spending 3G's Robbie wouldn't even talk to me or explain what he did, they just handed the keys over and gave me the bill, and the job was still not correct. This, coupled with broken promises from the old man with glasses who promised me he'd knock a hundred dollars off my bill - and he never did. He overcharged me. And furthermore; he tells really bad jokes. I ended up going to "Soundz Plus" in Naperville to correct all of this dumps eff ups, and the professionalism and quality of work compared to Mobile Electronics puts them to shame. If you are serious about having a quality job done in the arena of car stereos I would highly suggest not wasting your money (which I did) here, and go to Soundz Plus in Naperville. If you want a simple job, yeeeahhh, I guess they can do that - but anything beyond was a real challenge. I would absolutely not recommend.
