Off the start everything went well, consistent with other reviews. Then things got more technical and complicated and went the other direction. Initially I had some speakers installed in my whip, then an amp, then a subwoofer. The crux of the issue was the technical abilities and quality of work from "the Guy" who does the car stereo work/installation - Robbie. I had to go back for consistent re-work, things were not operating as they should, the stereo would turn off when I turned the vehicle off (not consistent with factory settings), the amp was not hooked up correctly, it was overall poor quality work. And after my third visit, and spending 3G's Robbie wouldn't even talk to me or explain what he did, they just handed the keys over and gave me the bill, and the job was still not correct. This, coupled with broken promises from the old man with glasses who promised me he'd knock a hundred dollars off my bill - and he never did. He overcharged me. And furthermore; he tells really bad jokes. I ended up going to "Soundz Plus" in Naperville to correct all of this dumps eff ups, and the professionalism and quality of work compared to Mobile Electronics puts them to shame. If you are serious about having a quality job done in the arena of car stereos I would highly suggest not wasting your money (which I did) here, and go to Soundz Plus in Naperville. If you want a simple job, yeeeahhh, I guess they can do that - but anything beyond was a real challenge. I would absolutely not recommend. read more

Been going to them for years and always get great honest service. The don't try to price gouge you and if u tell them ur budget they let I know up front if u can get what u want and if not how much more and why. Rob and Andy are great. They didn't try to over sell me on product and actually told me that if I got the product I was asking about I would not see a big improvement in sound quality. And for one of the jobs they quoted me the actual cost came in less than the estimate. My 2018 Challenger has a great sound system and it didn't break the bank. I highly recommend this business. These guys are great! 5 years ago I had them put a Chinese head unit in my 2009 MB SLK. With it was also a Audison Amp/DSP, new speakers and sound damping material in the doors. Sounded great. But being a sports car still too much noise, so not to long after the install I'm back for more sound damping material. Back wall and trunk lid, floor already had plenty. Sounded even better with the less road and car noise. Well come 3/2022 I'm tried of some of the issues I'm having with with Chinese head unit (I had bought it, they just installed in and very well at that) They recommend the Kenwood DMX1057, from what I was asking for. I came here to install a backup camera. I was quoted up to $300. They ended up charging me $99 for a camera that could be bought online for $69. And then 3 hours of labor at $95/hr to install it. I was there for a total of 3 hrs, they only had the car inside for about 1.5 hrs... but said 2 guys worked on it. I feel I was overcharged by at least $150 if not more. If you're gonna charge through the roof for labor, at least don't mark up the parts. Best Buy installs them for flat $129 but takes a month for an appointment, if I knew it was gonna cost this much here, I'd probably have waited a month. read more

Had a 9AM appointment to drop off a car for a speaker and Viper install, was told it would only be a few hours. I called five hours later and was told by an older gentlemen that it was almost done. Called back 90 minutes later, same person, said it was nearly done. Called back an hour later and then was told it'd be done at 6PM! I understand installs can have set backs, but 9 hours seems crazy, and it would have been helpful to have receive a text/email/call updating me instead of nothing. Now my seat belt retractor is broken and I'll have to go back, and who knows how long I'll be there. Everyone I spoke to was very nice, but the experience was overall disappointing. I want to give them a five star review, but we'll have to see. read more

I dropped in and the guys were friendly, had the product in stock, and installed it right away. Installation is flawless - the USB charges and looks very clean. If I could I would give 10 stars. I am so impressed with these guys. My DVD/CD player on my toyota land cruiser stopped working. When I brought it into the dealership we discovered that my 5yr old had put coins in the DVD player (not good!!) and the dealership could not cover the repair under warranty which is understandable. To replace new, since it was integrated into the navigation it would have been $8K, which for obvious reasons was not an option. I called Mobile Electronics and spoke with Mario who assured me they would be able to fix the radio. He quoted me a range that I was comfortable with, which I think was $100-$500 depending on if they had to ship it out, or not. I dropped it off and 3 hrs later, Mario called and said it was ready for pick up. It was completely fixed for $60. I was amazed and so impressed with their honesty and integrity when they knew full well that I was in a jam and would have payed 10x what they charged me. I have been going ot A.A.C. since 2001, when they used to be in Lincolnwood (Devon & McCormick), then they moved to the Ashland & Wellington location. Today I went by them so they can check out my Alarm and found out they moved to Downers Grove. Over all, they have been great, good customer service, decent installations. I took three of my vehicles to A.A.C. for alarms & remote starts and they did a good job on all three of my vehicles Too bad they have moved, I just can't see myself driving to Downers Grove for car alarms. My vehicle is leased so the took the time and care to make sure everything is reversible if needed. I had the team install a remote starter and I possessed a camera that I wanted to install in my vehicle. First, the cost of the remote starter and the labor for installation of the starter and the camera were very reasonable. They did a great job. However, I was most impressed with the follow up. The rear camera needed to be installed better due to the cold weather the camera didn't hold. During the holiday citizen and at no cost to me, they reinstalled the camera. I had a car alarm/remote start installed in my car here. These guys were great all the way. It ended up taking longer than expected so they knocked a bit off of the price. So far the install has been great, I had one issue and went back in the next weekend. They fixed it in 5 minutes for free. If you are looking for a place in Lincoln Park/Lakeview to install a car alarm, this is it. They do not sell the iPhone because they are an independent ATT store, the only ones with iPhones are the corporate ATT stores and the independents are a bit cheesed about it. This is the only place that will actually fix your phone though instead of making you buy a new one. They installed a GPS/Stereo, dashcam, and 7 speaker system in my new Impreza a few weeks ago. Labor prices were a bit high but component prices pretty much matched the best I could do online. Installation was quick and done on time. One thing they didn't do that would have been nice was to upgrade the software for the head unit. It was something I was experienced with so it wasn't a big deal for me to do it, but it would have been nice to do it in the shop in case it failed. One attention to detail really impressed me: I listen to a lot of uncommon music loaded onto a 128 gb usb drive. When I arrived to have the stereo installed I left the usb drive in the car. When I picked up the car they had moved the drive to the new stereo. When they started the car up, the same song that I had been listening to when I dropped the car off started playing from my new system. In order to do that they had to wade through the thousand or so songs on the drive to play just that one song. read more

Just had a remote starter with alarm and Alpine 650 radio and amp with Hertz centro Pro components put in a work van. They even installed my old Bazooka powered bass tubes behind seats with a controller perfectly attached in a place I can reach while driving. All I can say is WOW!!! These guys knocked it out of the park. I have had other shops install things in multiple vehicles over the years. This was my best experience over all the others. My vehicle was even clean of all scraps which has never happened with any other shop. I hope the owner pays his staff well because they are top notch. Just a quick review as I was just there this afternoon, but I have to give these guys their dues. Fantastic all the way. I had a remote starter bought for me as a gift several months ago and due to procrastinating hadn't gotten in to have it installed until last week. They found the sales information within minutes (without my having a receipt) and set up the appointment at my convenience. I arrived this morning assuming wrongly that a remote starter would take about the same time as a stereo system. When I found out that it was 3+ hours they asked if I had a ride and because I did not provided me transportation home. Later that afternoon when it was finished they called and I had not gotten transportation back so they came and got me. Now...I know that it must have been somewhat luck on my part that they must have had some downtime today but the fact that they took out the time and effort for my convenience is extraordinary service in my book.
