    The long and short of it is that Brides by Young is AH-MAZING!!! As a plus size bride and someone who isn't comfortable in her own skin, I had convinced myself that I wouldn't find my dream dress and would have to settle. However, thanks to BBY I found my dream dress and feel like a princess!! I had an appointment scheduled for 12/27/23 and after traveling to visit my family for the holidays from Ohio, I was beyond nervous to go fresh shopping. I knew what I liked but I had zero clue how they would look on me. With my mom, sister and grandma with me we went to another bridal shop before visiting BBY. That experience literally crushed my spirit. It was my first time ever trying on dresses and I was left alone in the dressing room to put the dresses on myself and then when I was ready to go show my family the stylist was nowhere to be found. I started to panic and walked out myself. The dresses weren't really what I was looking for and the sizes were very limited. So we left, but I felt hopeless and hesitant to continue on to BBY. Between appointments we stopped for some coffee and regained our spirits. Upon entering BBY the vibe was completely different from the first store. The stylist at the front was very friendly and greeted us and let us look around at the dresses while we waited. Turns out the girl who greeted us, Nicole was my stylist for the day and she was amazing!! Not only did the store provide me with a proper bra to get the right feel for the dresses but she stayed with me the entire time!! Not only was she helpful in guiding me towards certain dresses but I felt like I was really heard. She helped simplify the process by having me rate the dresses 1-10 on how they made me feel. She was also an amazing hype woman!! I felt so comfortable and at ease with her!! I don't remember how many I tried on at BBY, but I tried on 21 total between the two stores and ended up picking the third dress I tried on at BBY. And it was even better than I imagined!! I literally cried because I had never felt so pretty and I honestly didn't think I'd ever feel that way about my wedding dress. Then they put the perfect veil on and put my hair up and it was all over from there!! I can't say enough amazing things about this place!! I am so beyond happy that I booked an appointment with them and trusted them to help me find my wedding dress!! The Schaumburg team is amazing and Nicole was a godsend!! If you're a plus sized woman and are questioning if you'll have to settle for a wedding dress, DON'T!! Got to Brides by Young, you will NOT regret it!!! Thank you BBY for making my dreams come true!!!

    Tl;dr: the stylists are FANTASTIC but once you sign the contract the sales people do not care about you AT ALL I had an incredible experience in store shopping with Gonca -- she listened to my vision and pulled so many beautiful gowns for me to try. She never made me feel ashamed or weird about my body and checked in with me all day to make sure I was doing okay and having a great experience. I flew in from DC specifically to go to BBY because I'm a plus size bride! I found a dress (which, this is besides the point but I didn't *love* it but very much felt pressured to purchase *something* because I had flown my family out to Chicago to go to this store and didn't want anyone to feel like it had been a waste) and a veil that I purchased. Imagine my surprise when the veil cost almost as much as the dress! I gave my stylist a dress budget that she fully respected, but it was totally blown out by the fact that the veil almost more than doubled my total bill. Whatever, right? The dress took 7 months to arrive. Again, I flew in from DC so a flight to Chicago was out of the question by the time it arrived and I paid $250 extra to have the dress shipped directly to me. They refused to send it until the veil had also arrived, which took nearly an extra month (I guess I get that to try to minimize the shipping fees, but a veil doesn't need nearly as much alteration as a dress... I digress). It finally got to my parents' house in May (I ordered it the first week of October). Immediately upon trying it on, pearls started flying off. Yikes but not a deal breaker. Then I zipped it up and watched it fall off of my body. I could put BOTH ARMS inside the dress with me and still had space!!! So I panicked! **full disclosure: I am on ozempic and have been since October. I TOLD THE STAFF AT BBY that I was actively losing weight! And I've lost 30 lbs since October** I called BBY to ask what I should do, and the woman I spoke to on the phone INSTANTLY started to gaslight and dismiss me. I had the Stella York size chart for reference and asked her to read my original measurements -- my measurements have changed less than 1 inch all the way around from October. She argued that, since I'm not a professional, I'm probably not measuring correctly, and told me, verbatim "a lot of our brides are doing the shots now and then freak out when their dress comes and it doesn't fit" which is rude and dismissive but also, if you exclusively work with plus size women wouldn't you plan for this kind of thing? Long story short, I tried on a 24 in the store and it was a few inches too small (although the woman on the phone told me it was 5-6" too small, I would say it was more like 2-3" -- for reference I have a large tattoo on my back that serves as a "landmark" for measurements). They refused to acknowledge that they might have made a mistake by ordering a 28 instead of a 26 based on my October measurements and essentially blamed me for losing weight and made me feel like a villain for being on a health journey. They offered no other options than "your dress is incredibly simplistic and will be sooo easy to alter, calm down." I very much felt that they were telling me "you signed a contract so too bad, tough luck, you're stuck." The dress is not custom in any way, and I would have paid to have it shipped back to Chicago and a restocking fee if they would have offered to offer me a different size, but I was essentially told to suck it up. I ended up taking the dress to David's Bridal JUST to see what their alterations department would/could do and was told no less than $1,000 (which is a little less than the original cost of the dress) and at least 3 months to completely reconstruct the top of the dress to *hope* it will fit back onto the skirt. I ended up buying another dress at a bridal consignment shop in Richmond because the whole experience felt tainted and I did not feel comfortable wearing the original dress. Does that make me a drama queen? maybe, but you (hopefully) only get married once and I didn't want the stain of this awful interaction in the memory of my wedding day. Again, I can't sing the praises of the stylists enough-- their warmth and kindness meant so much to me as a plus size woman in an incredibly predatory industry, but the aftermath absolutely sucked and tainted my view of BBY completely, so I cannot recommend them.

    I don't know where to start! I went in to the Schaumburg location and I was immediately swept away! The vibe was amazing and I instantly felt comfortable. There was unlimited number of gowns in different styles. I knew I would find my dress here. Bonnie really made my dreams come true. I was confused on what I really wanted due to going to other bridal shops and trying so many dresses. Bonnie was so patient with me. She sat and got to know me and what I liked then we tried on lots of dresses. Different silhouettes, style and colors. She really took her time with helping me find my dress. When we finally found the one we both knew it was perfect for me! She helped show me different accessories to finish the look off. I could've have done this without Bonnie she was amazing! I'm so excited for my wedding dress!!

    Words cannot express my complete happiness with my experience at Brides by Young. Being a plus-size bride, I was extremely nervous/anxious about dress shopping. However, after some online searching, I decided to come here. Best decision ever!!!! My wedding is less than six months away, so time is of the essence. They only allowed me to try on dresses off the floor because they couldn't guarantee a shipped order would be ready in time. I was slightly disappointed but it made sense to not let me fall in love with a dress I couldn't have. Thankfully my stylist Bonnie pulled a few dresses from the back that fit. Each one was beautiful and different and gave me a chance to see what I really liked. When I tried on the 4th dress, I was so happy that I teared up. That's how I knew it was "the one". Just in case, she put a veil on me and handed me a bouquet to really see the whole picture. Yep! I found my dress. I was able to go home and think about it and the next day, Bonnie called and said they could take another $150 off if I bought the dress before they closed for the holidays. She knew it was "the" dress and that extra push helped me get my mom to hand over her credit card. I just picked up my dress today and they had it wrapped up so beautifully and they even carried it out to my car and loaded it in for me. Their receptionist was so sweet and helpful that I genuinely hugged her (masked up of course). I am kinda in shock that I found and took home my wedding dress in less than three days. If you are a plus-size bride, this should be your one and only destination for dress shopping.

    I cannot recommend this place enough! It was a one stop shop for me. As soon as I got engaged and heard about this place which provides plus size brides a safe space to dress shop, I made an appointment. I was not disappointed. As soon as I got there Nasreen was amazing and took excellent care of me. I had just met her but it felt like I had known her for years! I am so grateful for her guidance and direction in picking out my gown. She was honest with me and very patient. When I tried on my gown, I knew that was it but I was so afraid to commit, and she helped me process all the emotions that came with it without pressuring me into it. So grateful for all the women working there! Even Savannah who answered a bunch of questions for me in the front desk. Thank you Brides by young fam!

    After going to a couple of great spots in city where we both live my daughter just wasn't finding the one! I put out a feeler in a local group and so many said brides by young. So off we traveled to burbs. AN amazing brand new remodel and the loveliest of consultant awaited us! Thank you to Lori for making my daughter so happy! Dress two and she knew she had found it! The dress had literally just arrived to your collection. More shops should have products available in all sizes so a bride to be can see what she will look like. 5 stars on making this happen!

My trip to Genevieve's was my first experience trying on dresses and I didn't appreciate just how good their service was at the time! Monika was very kind, thorough, discreet and knowledgeable. She helped me find the style that I was ultimately looking for (I had no idea what I was doing) and her selections were spot on. I chose to shop around for a few more weeks but eventually called back to order my dress! If you are early or late in your dress shopping - go to Genevieve's. They had a large selection of dresses that all felt like such great quality and the service was helpful without being obtrusive. Compared to other stores Genevieve's felt calmer and more professional. They set a very high standard that I couldn't find elsewhere. Their selection of dresses felt well maintained (some other dress shops had dresses that really needed to be retired) and classy (no buttons popping off and the dresses I tried on were are in the same size, 14, so I felt like I had a safe comparison across dresses). All of the dresses I tried on had corseting or boning to give the dress support without relying on shapewear. The price range quoted for the store was $2k-$7k but the dresses I selected were actually below $2k.

The store was VERY thorough in confirming our appointment and asked 3 different ways for me to confirm. Upon arrival, our party was encouraged to peruse while we waited for the remaining few, which caused us to be scattered. Our stylist finally came over and asked a few questions about what we were shopping for. There was no coordinated direction for our group in how to start making selections to try on. The selection at that, was atrocious. There are signs with all of the dress styles available - but many were either not available to try on or were not available in our sizes. Many, many of the dresses were broken and showed excessive wear and tear (broken straps, zippers that don't work, etc.) it was hard to really get a feel for how a dress looked and felt on when you were holding it together. In my opinion, they should have one of every size in every style available. Our stylist never really got with it to truly help us. He'd disappear for long periods of time, and couldn't make suggestions of alternative dresses to try on. He didn't seem versed or experienced in his role. Overall, what a disappointment. I don't know why David's Bridal is still the accepted standard for bridesmaid dress shopping.

I was given a piece of Belgium lace as a Christmas gift from my grandmother over 15 years ago. She bought it in Europe and gave it to me with the intention that I would use the lace for my wedding veil. Fast-forward to the present, and I had this gorgeous piece of lace, but needed someone to make it into a veil. Heather at Crystal Bride highly recommended Paul. I am so thrilled that she did. Paul is amazingly talented. At my first visit, he held up the lace and showed me three different ways I could wear it as a veil. He then offered to meet me at Crystal Bride while I was having a fitting so that I could see the veil placement while I was wearing my dress. He told me that he could stitch in a comb and steam the veil while I was finishing my fitting appointment. Honestly, service does not get any better than Paul. He is so friendly, warm, and completely knows what he's doing. I am so pleased with his work and can't wait to wear my beautiful veil down the aisle in, oh, 17 days (but who's counting, right?). His pricing was beyond reasonable for the quality of his work. I have already recommended Paul at Sandra's to a friend getting married the weekend after me, and will hold on to his information for any future brides from my family/friends. They were able to take my mom's 38 year wedding cathedra length veil and turn it into my dream veil for my wedding in Italy. They brightened up the veil to make it look like new and were able to salvage the lace to create a piece I was so honored to wear.

    DO NOT GO TO HOUSE OF BRIDES. I had the absolute worst experience there. If I could rate it with…read morezero stars, I would. I ordered my dress (and upfronted payment for the dress and alterations) in January 2023, received it the end of July 2023, and was not allowed to schedule any alterations until 6 weeks prior my wedding date in November 2023. While I was waiting the seven for my dress to arrive, I was looking at veils and jewelry. I had called House of Brides to question the length of my train to determine what length veil to buy. They did not have that information on file. I was not allowed to know the designer or name of the dress purchased for designer privacy. When my dress arrived, I scheduled an appointment to try on the dress. My mother and I were left alone for the entire time we were there- meaning my mother helped me put the dress on, fluff out the dress, view from different angles, etc. without the help of any employee. My mother walked around to look for an employee, who was just adjusting mannequins in front, when she knew very well there were customers unattended in the back. I was also very bummed that the back was much lower than how it was clipped during our try-on appointments prior to purchasing. I had tried to start alterations much earlier than 6 weeks prior to my wedding day but was dismissed and told there was plenty of time before my wedding date. The regular seamstress was also on leave during that time, contributing to a further delay. It was extremely difficult to schedule alterations appointments, especially for a fulltime working gal (in healthcare might I add), as alterations are only open two weekdays from 12-6PM. My first alterations appointment was to just try the dress on; they pinned me with my measurements. I custom added off-the-shoulder sleeves, which I had asked to be fully elastic around the entire sleeve. We asked for ideas to make the back more conservative, as it was much lower than anticipated (as mentioned earlier). No suggestions were given. At the second alterations appointment, it took nearly 40 minutes to be helped after we checked in despite having an appointment. It also seemed as if absolutely nothing was changed, as nothing was sewn. Pins only. I basically retried on my pinned dress. The sleeves were also only pinned, and elastic was only added to the sides of the sleeve- not the entire sleeve as I had requested. I was told it was still only pinned because they double check everything before cutting. The waist was taken in, but the bust had to be pinned further to be taken in. I had asked for a 5-7 button bustle. The third alterations appointment we had to redo the hemline pinning, as it was much longer than previously pinned. The sleeves were fully elastic at this point. The bust had to be pinned once again to be taken in further. My fourth alterations appointment, I was first just handed the dress. I had to make a comment that I wanted to try on the dress, especially since there had been several alterations that I haven't seen/tried on. Oh my goodness, the hemline was atrocious! There was a double layer of tulle fabric, creating a color change amongst the layers. I questioned it and was told that they purposefully add extra fabric in case someone else later down the road assumes the dress and is taller than me. I have no idea why that was a thought that crossed a seamstress's mind. This is MY dress for MY day- not anyone else's. I'm unsure if they were hiding the fact that they made an error. It looked as if they cut the dress too short and added fabric to fix the length. A visible hemline was prominent around the entire skirt. I was so dumbfounded and just so fed up with my ongoing battle that I just wanted to take the dress and leave. I had no words to express my complaints. I did not want them to touch the dress any further. I went home in tears. I anxiously called around looking for a miracle, as my wedding is in 4 days. I showed my family when I arrived home. There were visible holes around the hemline as well as frays around the hemline. A piece of lace applique even fell on the floor! Luckily, I found Bridal Boys By Complete Bridal who took me in on short notice, with only 3 days to get it fixed. When I went to the salon to show them my dress, they were astonished. One of the seamstresses was just about in tears. They referred to my dress as, "unwearable," and "unsalvageable." The seamstress even said, "I have never seen a worse hatchet job in my entire life." Bridal Boys By Complete Bridal assessed House of Bride's hatchet job and reported that House of Brides cut the hemline lace and horsehair off instead of taking the applique off the dress, shortening the dress, and reapplying the applique. House of Brides apparently cut everything without taking the lace applique off first. This then caused a visible seam, which is apparently "patchwork" not bridal tailoring.
