What I couldn't possibly imagine was how this ended up being one of the best days of this whole wedding planning experience!!! I made an appointment and the team was great at sending reminders and sending all the need to know information. I was paired with Bonnie who went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make my experience incredible. She (and many other staff members) have YEARS of experience and know how to find what you're looking for, stay in your budget, offer advice on what they think would flatter you, etc. Bonnie was incredibly patient as we tried on about 10 dresses. The entire time she was taking notes on what I liked and what I didn't and never once made me feel like I was inconveniencing her and the team. Everyone worked so hard to make me and my family feel comfortable and welcomed. Like I said, I wasn't looking forward to this experience being sensitive about my body but the women truly made me feel so confident and beautiful. I visited Brides by Young to look for a wedding dress and was extremely impressed! Their salon had newly been remodeled to be a bright white aesthetic with cream couches, large mirrors, ring lights at the pedestals, large try on rooms, and rows of dress racks. This is a size inclusive store (14-36) so all dresses are plus size! There were so many dresses of all shapes, styles, necklines, materials, etc. I had Lori as my consultant and instantly felt comfortable with her. She was professional, had a calming energy and really listened to me. This was the second store I visited so I was able to share ideas and images of what was working and what was not. On top of dresses, the store has accessories and an in-house strapless corset bra they sell. I was able to wear the bra when trying on dresses which made every dress look that much more flattering. Lori and her helpful hand pulled 10-12 dresses for me to try on and was in the room with me to slip dresses on, clip me in, and transition dresses on and off the hangers for me. I noticed right away that Brides by Young had a lot more variety in style, necklines, and material being entirely size inclusive. Every dress I tried on was lighter and more my aesthetic. After trying on a couple, we knew which one was it. Lori proceeded to pull my hair back, put on a veil, give me a faux bouquet, and surprise me with a grand reveal. My while group was in tears. It was the experience you envision for yourself and really made me feel special and like a bride. The price points varied and were very reasonable. They have a mother of the bride section but outsources alterations; they do have preferred seamstresses they provide. Additionally, they offered 10% off accessories if you bought a dress. I ended up buying my dress, I was able to add extra length, and got a veil. If you are a plus size bride, I HIGHLY recommend coming to Brides by Young. The long and short of it is that Brides by Young is AH-MAZING!!! As a plus size bride and someone who isn't comfortable in her own skin, I had convinced myself that I wouldn't find my dream dress and would have to settle. However, thanks to BBY I found my dream dress and feel like a princess!! I had an appointment scheduled for 12/27/23 and after traveling to visit my family for the holidays from Ohio, I was beyond nervous to go fresh shopping. I knew what I liked but I had zero clue how they would look on me. With my mom, sister and grandma with me we went to another bridal shop before visiting BBY. That experience literally crushed my spirit. It was my first time ever trying on dresses and I was left alone in the dressing room to put the dresses on myself and then when I was ready to go show my family the stylist was nowhere to be found. I started to panic and walked out myself. The dresses weren't really what I was looking for and the sizes were very limited. So we left, but I felt hopeless and hesitant to continue on to BBY. Between appointments we stopped for some coffee and regained our spirits. Upon entering BBY the vibe was completely different from the first store. The stylist at the front was very friendly and greeted us and let us look around at the dresses while we waited. Turns out the girl who greeted us, Nicole was my stylist for the day and she was amazing!! Not only did the store provide me with a proper bra to get the right feel for the dresses but she stayed with me the entire time!! Not only was she helpful in guiding me towards certain dresses but I felt like I was really heard. She helped simplify the process by having me rate the dresses 1-10 on how they made me feel. She was also an amazing hype woman!! I felt so comfortable and at ease with her!! I don't remember how many I tried on at BBY, but I tried on 21 total between the two stores and ended up picking the third dress I tried on at BBY. And it was even better than I imagined!! I literally cried because I had never felt so pretty and I honestly didn't think I'd ever feel that way about my wedding dress. Then they put the perfect veil on and put my hair up and it was all over from there!! I can't say enough amazing things about this place!! I am so beyond happy that I booked an appointment with them and trusted them to help me find my wedding dress!! The Schaumburg team is amazing and Nicole was a godsend!! Tl;dr: the stylists are FANTASTIC but once you sign the contract the sales people do not care about you AT ALL I had an incredible experience in store shopping with Gonca -- she listened to my vision and pulled so many beautiful gowns for me to try. She never made me feel ashamed or weird about my body and checked in with me all day to make sure I was doing okay and having a great experience. I flew in from DC specifically to go to BBY because I'm a plus size bride! I found a dress (which, this is besides the point but I didn't *love* it but very much felt pressured to purchase *something* because I had flown my family out to Chicago to go to this store and didn't want anyone to feel like it had been a waste) and a veil that I purchased. Imagine my surprise when the veil cost almost as much as the dress! I gave my stylist a dress budget that she fully respected, but it was totally blown out by the fact that the veil almost more than doubled my total bill. Whatever, right? The dress took 7 months to arrive. Again, I flew in from DC so a flight to Chicago was out of the question by the time it arrived and I paid $250 extra to have the dress shipped directly to me. They refused to send it until the veil had also arrived, which took nearly an extra month (I guess I get that to try to minimize the shipping fees, but a veil doesn't need nearly as much alteration as a dress... I digress). It finally got to my parents' house in May (I ordered it the first week of October). Immediately upon trying it on, pearls started flying off. Yikes but not a deal breaker. Then I zipped it up and watched it fall off of my body. I could put BOTH ARMS inside the dress with me and still had space!!! So I panicked! **full disclosure: I am on ozempic and have been since October. I TOLD THE STAFF AT BBY that I was actively losing weight! And I've lost 30 lbs since October** I called BBY to ask what I should do, and the woman I spoke to on the phone INSTANTLY started to gaslight and dismiss me. I had the Stella York size chart for reference and asked her to read my original measurements -- my measurements have changed less than 1 inch all the way around from October. She argued that, since I'm not a professional, I'm probably not measuring correctly, and told me, verbatim "a lot of our brides are doing the shots now and then freak out when their dress comes and it doesn't fit" which is rude and dismissive but also, if you exclusively work with plus size women wouldn't you plan for this kind of thing? Long story short, I tried on a 24 in the store and it was a few inches too small (although the woman on the phone told me it was 5-6" too small, I would say it was more like 2-3" -- for reference I have a large tattoo on my back that serves as a "landmark" for measurements). They refused to acknowledge that they might have made a mistake by ordering a 28 instead of a 26 based on my October measurements and essentially blamed me for losing weight and made me feel like a villain for being on a health journey. They offered no other options than "your dress is incredibly simplistic and will be sooo easy to alter, calm down." I very much felt that they were telling me "you signed a contract so too bad, tough luck, you're stuck." The dress is not custom in any way, and I would have paid to have it shipped back to Chicago and a restocking fee if they would have offered to offer me a different size, but I was essentially told to suck it up. I ended up taking the dress to David's Bridal JUST to see what their alterations department would/could do and was told no less than $1,000 (which is a little less than the original cost of the dress) and at least 3 months to completely reconstruct the top of the dress to *hope* it will fit back onto the skirt. I ended up buying another dress at a bridal consignment shop in Richmond because the whole experience felt tainted and I did not feel comfortable wearing the original dress. Does that make me a drama queen? maybe, but you (hopefully) only get married once and I didn't want the stain of this awful interaction in the memory of my wedding day. Again, I can't sing the praises of the stylists enough-- their warmth and kindness meant so much to me as a plus size woman in an incredibly predatory industry, but the aftermath absolutely sucked and tainted my view of BBY completely, so I cannot recommend them. read more

I visited Brides By Young in Schaumburg on 7/26/24, excited to find my dream dress. While I didn't find the dress, I did find what I thought was the perfect wedding day bra--The One corset. After trying it on in-store and loving the fit, I decided to purchase it a few days later for $395 ($434 after tax)--the most expensive undergarment I've ever purchased! Since the store was over an hour away, I requested the same size I had tried on, knowing it fit perfectly in the store. My order was finalized on 8/2, and I made another trip back to pick it up on 8/17. I was advised to "break it in like new shoes," so I followed their instructions. Then, the nightmare began. The very first time I wore it, one side collapsed. I adjusted it, but it wouldn't stay up. I tried again after a few days, carefully bending it back into shape--still no luck. Desperate, I even tested it with my wedding dress, hoping the dress's structure would hold it up. It worked... for about 10 minutes before collapsing again, leaving me with a lopsided boob in my wedding dress! Before posting this review, I reached out to Brides By Young, hoping for a solution. They invited me back in, and I went with the hope that I had somehow been wearing it wrong. Unfortunately, I had been wearing it exactly as they had put it on me in-store. Their response? * Nasreen claimed the bra didn't work because my wedding dress didn't have enough support like their sample dresses. * When I questioned if that meant it only works with their gowns, she said no--but then contradicted herself by saying it needed more support. * She also stated that Faith had supposedly warned me that they couldn't guarantee fit with outside dresses--something that was never communicated to me. I even checked our messages, and--just as I suspected--no disclaimer was ever given. * To make matters worse, she suggested I spend even more money by having my seamstress add additional boning to the corset. After spending over $400, that was not an option! While they insisted that the sample I tried on was made from the same material as the one I received, I simply don't believe it. Now, I'm out $400+ with a completely useless bra. Brides deserve transparency, and I just want to save another bride from this frustrating, expensive mistake. If you have a larger chest, reconsider purchasing "The One" bra--because if you receive a defective one , they won't do anything to make it right. read more

As a plus size bride I was thrilled to see Brides by Young in the Illinois area. Knowing you can go in and try on samples in your size is a huge relief for any bride during the wedding dress shopping process. We shouldn't have to be limited in selection due to body type - we deserve to feel beautiful on our special day! My mom handled the appointment setup and raved about the ease with which she picked a date and how kind and communicative staff were throughout the whole process (Nasreen is lovely and amazing.) The day of our appointment we arrived and promptly met our consultant, Gonca, who is as beautiful inside as she is on the outside (if that's even possible - she is stunning!) She instantly made us feel at ease and never rushed us through the process. She took the time to understand what I wanted and my budget and was very transparent when I pulled a dress outside of my initially stated price range (spoiler alert - it still ended up being "the one!") She made trying on dresses a fun and empowering experience, which made me get over the nervousness of undressing in front of a total stranger. She gave great guidance in regards to dress styles, hair styles (I jokingly said I needed her to come do my hair for my wedding) and accessories. She never pressured me into a gown and instead just gave me insight that ultimately helped me pick the dress that really brought me the most joy. If there's one tip I can give future brides it's to trust your consultant - she's a pro and knows what she is doing! I did have to go back a second time before fully committing to my dress and Gonca was SO supportive and went above and beyond to help ease any anxiety I had about dress or wedding decisions in general. She recommended a follow-up appointment date that was not as busy in the salon and let me try on my dress a final time in quiet, supportive space. She really is an absolute angel! The rest of the boutique staff were always very kind and complimentary - making me feel like a million bucks - and Nasreen was lovely and helpful during the ordering process, just as she had been during the appointment setup. Did I mention she models all the dresses on their social media? What a babe! I would recommend this salon to any bride, especially given the variety of styles and price ranges they provide to mid and plus size brides. I wanted to alter a few things to make it perfect for my destination beach wedding and Lori was able to make those adjustments on the spot, without hesitation. Brides by Young in Schaumburg is a fantastic bridal studio. When I made the appointment, they were very thorough with the information I needed to have and even said, "be sure to get all your trying on done because we know you will find your dress here". Little did I know, she was right! I chose Brides by Young because the are a size inclusive shop that I truly felt comfortable trying in the dresses and not like I was squeezing into a sausage casing. I worked with Lori, she was absolutely amazing. She listened to what I was interested in seeing, what I liked in dresses and then brought me to the racks. There were SO many dresses to choose from. We pulled a bunch of them and went to try them on. She asked all the right questions for each dress and remained patient while I considered different pros for each. As we neared the end and I was between two dresses, she asked all the important questions. Once I chose the dress I loved and she picked the most amazing veil to pair, I absolutely fell in love and yes, the tears happened. When I walked in, I was of the mindset that I was going to sleep on my decision but with her guidance I said yes to the dress! Lori took my measurements and based on them, she selected the size for the dress and started to order. It was honestly such a magical and happy experience. The reason for only 4 stars instead of 5 is they did not review the size guide with me. Not that I'm planning to have any drastic changes before my date but knowing where I fell in the chart would be helpful to see. In addition, they did not review the price of the veil with me before I fell in love with it. I was confused on what I really wanted due to going to other bridal shops and trying so many dresses. Bonnie was so patient with me. She sat and got to know me and what I liked then we tried on lots of dresses. Different silhouettes, style and colors. She really took her time with helping me find my dress. However, after some online searching, I decided to come here. Best decision ever!!!! My wedding is less than six months away, so time is of the essence. They only allowed me to try on dresses off the floor because they couldn't guarantee a shipped order would be ready in time. I was slightly disappointed but it made sense to not let me fall in love with a dress I couldn't have. Thankfully my stylist Bonnie pulled a few dresses from the back that fit. Each one was beautiful and different and gave me a chance to see what I really liked. When I tried on the 4th dress, I was so happy that I teared up. That's how I knew it was "the one". Just in case, she put a veil on me and handed me a bouquet to really see the whole picture. Yep! I found my dress. I was able to go home and think about it and the next day, Bonnie called and said they could take another $150 off if I bought the dress before they closed for the holidays. She knew it was "the" dress and that extra push helped me get my mom to hand over her credit card. I just picked up my dress today and they had it wrapped up so beautifully and they even carried it out to my car and loaded it in for me. There were so many styles to choose from, my mom and I were absolutely floored! I ended up purchasing my dress here and I'm so glad that I did. They were not pushy about making the sale, and did not force any add-ons (veil, belt, dress preservation service). Once my dress arrived to the store, pickup was quick and simple. I was able to try it on again, this time with some of the wedding party in tow. I did not need much in the way of alterations (just for length), so their measurements and size recommendation at my first appointment were spot on. My daughter and I picked up her bridal gown today. It was ordered and paid for six months ago. My daughter's size really has not changed. This dress is three sizes too large in the top and at least 15 inches too long. The lady working there could see it was WAY TOO LARGE for this bride and couldn't care less. Says they need alterations. This dress is going to have to be completely cut apart and re-made. That is not an alteration. And Brides by Young can offer places to take the dress to have it re-made to fit your bride. We already paid Thousands to them. Beware, they are not bridal dress makers, they sold us fabric so we could take it somewhere else to be ready for my daughter to wear to her wedding. Sharing my experience. I went to BBY (Schaumburg) December 11th. I had the appointment scheduled for over a month and could hardly wait. I didn't even schedule anywhere else until I realized appointments may be harder to get after the first of the year. So I scheduled Davids and had one more place in mind. I knew this process would take at least 2-3 looks. The phone calls I had with Jessica from Day 1 felt like I was talking to a cousin or old friend. She made me even more excited for my visit. My Davids appointment was the day before and went very well. Way better than expected so I came in wondering how much better can it get. I tell you it was better than I could have imagined! There was a wait once I got there as my consultant was finishing up with a bride. Each try on area was full. This place is popping. My mom, 10 year old niece, cousin and BFF and I were ready. My consultant Bonnie asked what was my style, I said I don't have one. She was like what do you like. I said a little bit of everything. I showed her favorite dresses in my phone. She said wow you do like everything on the spectrum. I said, "told ya." So she pulled four dresses for me. At Davids my cousin and BFF put me in the dresses. At BBY Bonnie did everything. She used them to help pull up zippers when needed. The first dress she put me in was a dress I never thought I could wear or look good in. It was mermaid style. It looked amazing on me! Then ballroom. Then princess. After trying 4 dresses, it happened. I found my dress. I also got to meet Jessica, who helped with veils and really just put the icing on the cake. So delightful. Pricing: I ended up doubling my budget (Thanks Dad for understanding). They told me there were dresses in my price range ($1200-$2000 max) but most I tried were on the top end and over. The ones I loved were certainly over $2000. Just be prepared for that if you have a lower budget. It was a wonderful experience. I am glad I came in when I did because I thought I had way more time since my wedding is 9/30/2022. My dress is guaranteed to be in by July but probably won't come before June according to the manager. Who knew it would take this long? So plan ahead ladies. read more

I was in Brides by Young for my first wedding dress shopping experience a few weeks ago and I highly recommend it. Sabina helped me find the perfect gown for my wedding. I ended up going with a mermaid style that I wasn't expecting to fall in love with, but it was the only dress I've tried on where I just loved how it made me feel and knew it was THE ONE! I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was quiet. I saw a couple of other brides while I was there but Sabina's attention was focused on me. I liked that it wasn't packed or noisy and there was plenty of room for the bride tribe of 6 I brought with me. Unlike other places I've been to, the consultant picked all the dresses for me. She was very personable and wanted to hear my story. She was attentive to the details when I explained what I liked and didn't about a dress. I felt it was helpful that she listened and didn't put me into a bunch of dresses that would just be a waste of time based on my preferences. She also stopped pulling additional dresses once she had a sense that I had found the one and was comparing everything back to that. She even helped put my hair in a little side bun and added a hair clip and veil so that I could get the full effect when standing in front of the mirror. I had a later appointment next door at David's Bridal but nothing really compared to the original dress I fell in love with. It was also super crowded and chaotic. There was something about Brides by Young carrying dresses specifically for plus size women that appealed to me. There were plenty of dresses with straps, which I didn't really find at David's Bridal. The only downsides to my experience were the fact that I immediately had to revise my initial budget of $1000 because I was told there were very few gowns that would fall within that range. Since the website advertises dresses at $600 and up, I think it may be helpful to indicate what the average dress price is in the FAQ. However, I feel the additional money I spent on the dress was well worth the amazing feeling I got when wearing it. Also the veil I was interested in was close to $400, so I decided not to buy it. I debated for a long time before writing this review because I so badly want to support a business that is about catering to plus sizes. I was willing to chalk up my bad experience to the busy time of day, having pressure from family, and my own anxiety. However, after some reflection and ultimately having MUCH better experiences elsewhere, I feel like I have to say something. BBY was first shop I visited (which I told them going in). I had a lot of ideas and showed them a Pinterest board, but had never tried on anything so felt like I needed to try on different styles to figure out what looked best. The beginning of the appointment was great! I felt listened to and pampered and really appreciated how the consultant was able to make everything fit me like magic. However, after trying on a number of dresses and identifying a few things I liked but nothing I loved, it became really clear that they were getting frustrated with me. I was passed off to another consultant who was clearly a "closer" whose job it was to get me to buy a dress or leave. She kept pressuring me to like dresses I didn't like, or agree to dresses that would require extensive alterations, and paraded me around the store in socks and a robe, pulling random dresses and asking me what I thought. Lines like "if you can't find it here it doesn't exist" and "you have to realize there are reasons that designers make things this way" were used as manipulation tactics to create manufactured urgency, make me doubt myself, and settle. Ultimately, I left the appointment feeling defeated and anxious and cried on the way home. Perhaps this store is best for brides with a really clear and articulated vision, but I would not recommend for anyone who's trying to figure out what they will feel best in. If I was a different type of person, I definitely would have shelled out tons of money for something I wasn't in love with simply due to their pushiness and manipulation. I understand the bridal industry is tough, there are other appointments to be honored, and there's a commission aspect, but you can't gaslight your way into sales just because we are plus size. read more

Great dress shopping experience!!! The store is very clean and has open spacing. The dressing rooms are big and the mirrors outside the dressing room to view your dress are perfect. Great overall store layout and decor. I like that you get a stylist that listens to what you want and doesn't appear rushed. Kari was my stylist and she was fantastic! She didn't have me go through any racks of dresses. Instead she listened to my thoughts and pulled diverse dresses in my budget that she thought I would like. Her picks were dead on and really showed me all the different dress types that I may possibly like. I ended up really liking the first dress I tried on there after trying several dresses, I knew this was the dress for me! Kari did my hair, found a veil, and had me put on earrings so I could get a better feel for how I would look in my dress. She also had tons of suggestions about color schemes that would go nicely with my dress. Overall great experience for any size! The store specializes in plus size but can order most dresses in all sizes. They do a great job making the sample sizes fit everyone. I would highly recommend! read more

I highly recommended going on a weekday to avoid a crowd. During the week there is less hustle and bustle which put me even more at ease as i am not fond of being the center of attention. But Brides by Young made me feel so comfortable! Just picked up my dream wedding dress today and i am in Love!! My experience here has been nothing short of amazing. When i first went to try on dresses i was amazed! They have soooo many samples to try on. The lady helping me in and out of dresses was so nice - plus she could tell when i wasn't feeling something and immediately found a different dress. I will admit that my mother was having a few harsh remarks but the stylist was so quick to redirect her comments else where and made me feel truly comfortable. I bought my dress, veil, and a belt here for a reasonable price for a designer experience. When i picked up my dress today, i was quickly greeted and got to put on my dress! The stylist took pictures for me and offered helpful tips for alterations. The stylist even convinced me from wanting to wear my hair half up/ half down to an updo to really show off the back of the dress and the detailing around the shoulders. I am so thankful for this suggestion because it really made a world of difference in the look of the dress. She was sweet in her delivery and started off with if you're comfortable. After shopping at several big named bridal shops I was met with possibly paying extra or fees for extra material without even knowing how a dress would truly look on me because they didn't have many dresses over a certain size. I researched BBY for awhile as it is over an hour away and didn't want to be met with more dress regret. I finally broke down and made an appointment. When I got there, they were so kind and instantly bonded with Lori who was my consultant. She asked me what was important to me and came into my fitting room with several dresses. I couldn't pick just one. Then she asked me to try on a dress which she thought would be perfect for my "vintage theme" and would look perfect on me. I agreed. As I put on the dress, I was so overwhelmed with how beautiful I felt even though it was exactly what I thought I didnt want. Walked out of the fitting room and looked in the big mirror under the lights and instantly said Yes. My dress came back sooner than expected. Took it to a seamstress and made it just a little different by adding a bishop sleeve to elevate the vintage feel and felt like the most beautiful bride ever! Mixed experience. Finding my dress with Bonnie was an amazing experience. She was so helpful, patient and really boosted my confidence about my body. She found the dress of my dreams and I couldn't be happier with it. Bonnie rules. I give her five stars. Picking up the dress was another matter- one star. When I went to pick up and try on my dress this Monday, Lori was extremely unpleasant. She was rude and clearly couldn't care less, which made getting almost naked in front of her to try on my dress really uncomfortable. Furthermore, they messed up a customization I had requested on my dress. No big deal, I can have the tailor fix it, but BBY was really defensive about it. I didn't feel like fighting with them, but I'm annoyed I now have to pay extra to the tailor to get this fixed the way it should've been done. Also, notes on the alterations: They insisted I have to see a tailor in Arlington Heights who is apparently the only person in Illinois who can handle my alterations. I did ask them straight up for other tailor recommendations in the city more convenient to me, but Lori said no one else could do it and let me know that some brides drive 6 hours to get their dresses altered and that I should basically just shut up about it. Oh, Lori, you charmer. I found out this was false when I reached out to other tailors in Chicago where I live and plenty are experienced in handling alterations for Studio Levana dresses like mine. I don't appreciate that they lied to me about this in service of what I can only assume is a commission they get from the tailor they recommended. TLDR Finding the dress with Bonnie was fantastic. Once you buy the dress though, Brides By Young is done being kind to you. And Lori, girl, you need to work on your customer service skills. read more

I wish I could give this bridal shop more than five stars! I absolutely loved and adored my bridal experience here! Lori was my dress consultant for my appointment and she was fabulous! She made me feel so beautiful in every dress I tried on (especially because I just recently had a baby a couple months prior to my visit). She was so wonderful the entire time we were there from the moment we walked in till the moment we left. I gave her an idea of what I was looking for and while I felt it was very vague, it seemed like she knew EXACTLY what to put me in to make me feel like a bride. I went to two different places for my first day of wedding dress shopping and I'm so thankful we went to Brides By Young first. They were so welcoming, even with us being late due to a snow storm. They allowed me to bring 3 guests. They have a huge dress selection and I had no issues with dresses fitting me (I'm a size ~12 in jeans). Lori mainly helped me that day and she was so kind and funny. All the other women working there would also give their input on the dresses I tried on and they made it a really fun experience. I found the perfect dress but didn't want to commit without going to the other appointment. The other place I went was really disappointing after having been to Brides By Young. The first 4 dresses they brought out did not fit me AT ALL, which was so disheartening! Needless to say I went back to BBY that same day right before they closed and Nasreen (such a sweetheart!) helped me try on my dress again and I just fell in love with it all over again. I went to Brides by Young in September/2020. To be honest, I was really nervous about going to my appointment due to Covid. I was told that I'd be the only bride in the store at the time of my appointment and that if someone else came in, they'd be at the other end of the store. I was also reassured that everyone would wear a mask and social distance. They did exactly everything I was promised. I had such an amazing experience at Brides by Young. I went in not knowing what to expect with dress shopping and Jessica was an amazing human. She put me at ease and was so easy to talk to that I didn't feel self conscious at all. Being a fat bride, I wasn't sure if any of the dresses would fit but I was able to try on dresses that fit my body so well so I was able to get a good idea of what it would look like on my day. I can't express enough how well I was taken care of and how professional, kind, and reassuring Jessica and other staff were. 10/10, I would totally recommend to all plus size brides! read more

My review is not one of the best for this establishment. First of all, I came in June 2020 and at that time, had a scheduled November 2020 wedding. I was first recommended to come to this place as a plus-sized bride who wasn't a standard size 2. They did have quite a lot of dresses for me to try on, especially the one I was in love with off of a social media post. I went over the theme of my wedding and styles I was interested in, which my consultant just ran to grab things she "thought" I would like. Some were not at all what I wanted to wear, but felt forced to try on as she had already pulled 5/6 dresses for me to try on, and felt rushed to "love" something. Some were unflattering on me, regardless of me having expressed my body image concerns, and she brought things that did not fit my body the way I wanted. I was told my dress would be "made to my measurements and not to worry". I was also pushed by staff to pay a "$200 rush fee for the dress to get here on a boat from Italy". My mom knew this was scam-like behavior, or simply a way for the consultant to make a little more commission on my sale. Mind you I picked a veil, headpiece, dress, AND sleeves to have added onto my dress. But apparently that wasn't enough money spent for this place. They made me pay even more, pushing fear tactics onto me that my dress would "not arrive in time" by my wedding. I was stunned as they don't even do the alterations, all they do is order the dress. I was initially very happy with my dress and so in love with how it made me feel. BUT when it came time to pick up/try on my dress, THAT was when my nightmare began. When trying on my dress, I knew better I should've had someone come with me to verify my dress was perfect but I could only come ASAP during the week before 6pm, when I would have to leave work early to come in for it. No offer from the salon to come on a weekend which would've just made a whole lot of difference for me. When I tried on my dress, the consultant had to grab two hands worth of material and say "it just needs to get taken in a little", when I was swimming in it. The material also was not the same quality as the one I had tried on in store. It was very stiff, had clear strings hanging out of it all over, and they had the AUDACITY to sew in a "made in China" label to the inside of the dress. I could not believe my eyes, and the consultant rushed me in and out of my dress as so I would not notice and make a big deal about it. She knew I was naive to this and instead rushed me to sign off on it. I was not allowed to look at my veil or headpiece as they "had to stay in the packaging". Later on I realized they pulled a bait and switch for a CHEAPLY made, glued together headpiece that looked like I purchased it from Claire's. It wasn't the same style, quality, nor all uniform metal as the original . I cried when I arrived to have my alterations made as this was NOT what I paid $2000 for. I was heavily duped and I'm sure I'm not the first sucker they've pulled this on. They sold me on it being a "hand made/sewn designer" dress, coming from Italy, on a boat. But the made in China label was really disappointing. I had to pay close to $800 in alterations as it was measured to fit a woman of 6", not me at 5'4". The dress had to be reconstructed as it could not be altered on the bottom layer, nor taken in because the consultant was too incompetent to really ensure it was measured to fit MY body, like they're supposed to. My seamstress had to deconstruct, snip off all clear strings and pilling on my dress since it was a cheap version of the "Eddie K" dress. I did not feel like a beautiful bride, instead I felt like I looked more like a frumpy bride as I had to settle for money wasted on a dress that wasn't made for me. I had a very disheartening experience here and would just urge future brides to PLEASE do your homework, and check out other places before you settle on something from this establishment. I should've known better and trusted my gut before wasting my $ here. I know I'll be gaslit in their response here, too. read more

She was patient and a lot of fun to work with while choosing a dress, which I did find at BBY! It was absolutely gorgeous, not what I expected I'd wear at all, but I loved it! All the women were genuine, kind, and very helpful throughout each visit I had. I went in on a separate day to try on veils and jewelry. Even that day they were never pushy and we're helpful in suggesting look ideas. I would recommend visiting this clean, inviting store no matter your size.
