Very nice spot on Harford Road about halfway between the Hamilton and Lauraville neighborhoods. Alexander's has a full bar with a well-considered list of local and national brews. The menu is basically pub food and a variety of selections for most any taste. The interior is spacious and noise levels didn't seem to be a problem when I visited. I sat at the bar and service was very quick and friendly. There is also an outdoor seating area in front, which I look forward to enjoying on a future visit. Note that parking can be a little tricky since the restaurant sits on busy Harford Road and abuts a residential neighborhood with somewhat narrow streets. Definitely worth checking out if you're visiting northeast Baltimore.

I stopped by Alexander's Tavern for a quick solo lunch date after finding it on Yelp. The reviews looked promising, so I decided to give it a try. I went on a Tuesday and luckily caught their daily special--half-priced tots and $10 martinis. It was also Happy Hour when I arrived, which was a nice bonus. Heads up: Yelp and Apple Maps still say they open at 11:30 AM, but they've since changed their hours and now open at 3 PM Monday through Wednesday. I wasn't aware of the update, so it was pure luck that I arrived close to 3pm and not earlier like I originally planned. The place was pretty quiet--just me and a few other patrons since they had just opened. I ordered the Maryland Crab Tots, Fried Cheese Curds, and for my entrée, the Chicken Caesar Wrap with Crispy Buffalo Chicken. I also had a Lemon Drop Martini. Everything I tried was really good--great flavors and solid portions. I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars because while the food was great, the service was just okay, and the parking situation isn't ideal. There's no dedicated lot, so you'll need to find street parking or risk a nearby lot with towing signs (I took the risk and lived to tell the tale lol). Overall, I'd definitely go back. Just check their website to know the updated hours!

Super friendly staff, great food, great drinks! We come once or twice each week. We have also done carry out and everything was fresh and hot when we arrived back home. Highly recommend!

They accepted our reservations for Christmas Eve and when we arrived there was a note taped to the door stating they were closed.

On the hunt to try some of Baltimore's best crab cakes, I'm late to the party for Kocos. However,…read morebetter late than never. Given Koco's crab cake platter during their dinner service will set you back about $50, I've been hesitant to spend that amount of money for just one 8oz. crab cake. So I decided to give them a try during their lunch hours where you can get a 6oz. crab cake platter for about $30. I ordered in advance and popped into the brightly colored, tropical themed restaurant which was bustling on a Friday afternoon. My pickup was quick and the service was nice. I of course had to sneak a few fries while on my ride home, and they were perfectly crisp and well seasoned. Once I made it home I dived into the beautifully broiled crab cake and I immediately understood why Koco's is know as one of best crab cakes in the area. Full of lump crab meat, seasoned to perfection, and not wet in the center. All things I consider in a good crab cake. Now that I've had a taste of Koco's I'll definitely be saving a few coins to splurge a little for a crab cake.

Packed with large, tender chunks of crab and very little filler, they were cooked perfectly and let the quality of the seafood shine. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was friendly, and the overall experience made for a great meal. If you're a crab cake lover, this is definitely a spot to add to your list. I'll be back the next time I'm in Baltimore.

Great options for an authentic Italian market! In fact, I brought my in-law here for a sandwich a few years back, they were visiting from Italy, and thought the sandwich was very authentic to their markets in Italy. I love all of their holiday foods as well. We picked up a bunch of chocolate eggs and ingredients to make tiramisu for Easter. They even offer wine tastings on Saturdays! I have been a longtime fan of the DiPasquales family businesses, from their classic Italian markets in Baltimore to their new speakeasy style restaurant, Forno. Living in the county, I have always known about Mastellone's but somehow forget that it delivers the same amazing quality as the more modern DiPasquales locations. I finally made the trip to grab a weekday lunch and could not have been happier with my subs. The shop sits along a busy stretch of Harford Road, so be ready to parallel park quickly or find a nearby side street and walk over. Inside, it is everything you want in a true old school Italian deli. No frills, just shelves full of authentic Italian groceries, a big cold case with sauces, side dishes, desserts, and even a solid wine selection to take home. I ordered the Old World Italian sub, made with sopressata, capicola, prosciutto, fontinella cheese, olive tapenade, tomato, and a drizzle of EVOO on a toasted fresh baked roll. It was absolute perfection. The meats were thinly sliced and perfectly layered so that every bite had the full mix of flavor and texture. Salty, a touch spicy, and incredibly satisfying. At twelve dollars, it is the ideal price point for a weekday lunch that feels like a treat. The staff could not have been nicer. They were friendly, efficient, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Overall, Mastellone's is everything you want in a neighborhood Italian deli and absolutely worth the trip for anyone chasing elite level hoagies.
