Very nice spot on Harford Road about halfway between the Hamilton and Lauraville neighborhoods. Alexander's has a full bar with a well-considered list of local and national brews. The menu is basically pub food and a variety of selections for most any taste. The interior is spacious and noise levels didn't seem to be a problem when I visited. I sat at the bar and service was very quick and friendly. There is also an outdoor seating area in front, which I look forward to enjoying on a future visit. Note that parking can be a little tricky since the restaurant sits on busy Harford Road and abuts a residential neighborhood with somewhat narrow streets. Definitely worth checking out if you're visiting northeast Baltimore.

I stopped by Alexander's Tavern for a quick solo lunch date after finding it on Yelp. The reviews looked promising, so I decided to give it a try. I went on a Tuesday and luckily caught their daily special--half-priced tots and $10 martinis. It was also Happy Hour when I arrived, which was a nice bonus. Heads up: Yelp and Apple Maps still say they open at 11:30 AM, but they've since changed their hours and now open at 3 PM Monday through Wednesday. I wasn't aware of the update, so it was pure luck that I arrived close to 3pm and not earlier like I originally planned. The place was pretty quiet--just me and a few other patrons since they had just opened. I ordered the Maryland Crab Tots, Fried Cheese Curds, and for my entrée, the Chicken Caesar Wrap with Crispy Buffalo Chicken. I also had a Lemon Drop Martini. Everything I tried was really good--great flavors and solid portions. I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars because while the food was great, the service was just okay, and the parking situation isn't ideal. There's no dedicated lot, so you'll need to find street parking or risk a nearby lot with towing signs (I took the risk and lived to tell the tale lol). Overall, I'd definitely go back. Just check their website to know the updated hours!

Super friendly staff, great food, great drinks! We come once or twice each week. We have also done carry out and everything was fresh and hot when we arrived back home. Highly recommend!

They accepted our reservations for Christmas Eve and when we arrived there was a note taped to the door stating they were closed.

I ordered delivery from Lao Sze Chuan a few months ago, but finally visited in person this past…read moreSaturday and had a very good meal. Lao Sze Chuan is a new-ish (open since January 2025) Sichuan restaurant that took over the space Busboys and Poets used to occupy. It's a huge space, but they did a great job renovating it, and it feels light and bright and modern - very comfortable. It's huge though - so I hope people know it's there and are ordering takeout/delivery or stopping by a for a meal in person! The service was very friendly and very fast, so it's a great spot for an in-person meal, too! Their menu is as large as the restaurant space, so there's something for everyone! They definitely have a lot of Sichuan dishes, but if you're not up for Sichuan, they have some other dishes that might fit the bill: dim sum (plenty of dumplings and buns), lo mein, fried rice, Peking duck, basil eggplant, Mongolian beef, and more... On Saturday at the restaurant, my husband and I shared a pot of white tea and a few dishes: crystal shrimp dumplings; pork soup dumplings; spicy tofu skin strips (shredded tofu skin tossed with Sichuan-style chili oil, peppercorns, and spices for a bold, numbing and spicy flavor); spicy and sour fish fillets (tender fish fillets simmered in a flavorful broth with pickled mustard greens, garlic, and Sichuan spices); a side of white rice for the fish; and red bean paste pumpkin cakes for dessert. When we ordered delivery in February, we shared: vegetable steamed dumplings; Yu-Shiang Eggplant Roll (tender eggplant braised and rolled in a traditional Sichuan Yu-Shiang sauce, offering a perfect balance of sweet, sour, savory, and spicy notes); crispy salty chicken (bite-sized chicken pieces deep-fried and seasoned with basil); salt & pepper pork chops (crispy fried pork chops tossed with onions and jalapeño peppers for a bold and savory flavor); and a side of white rice). I've enjoyed everything we've eaten (although I wouldn't recommend the crispy dishes for delivery for obvious reasons - I can't resist salt & pepper pork chops sometimes even though I know it doesn't travel the best), and I love how broad the menu is. I can't wait to return to try more of their dishes!

We sat there for 15 minutes after we were finished and I finally had to get up and ask the hostess if she could ask our waitress for to go containers. As for the food it was quite good. The dumplings in spicy chili oil were very good. The shrimp fried rice was fine, nothing too special. The general tsaos chicken was good. The dry fried green beans were very good and the lemon shrimp was decent.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Ramen Utsuke. I had my daughter with me and I found it easy to go up…read morethe ramp with my stroller and into the restaurant. They do have high chairs btw! The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the service was impeccable. I had multiple servers come and check up on me and I felt like if I ever needed anything they were able to take care of it. Also, one of the servers mentioned the restaurant is peanut free in case anyone has any allergies. The poke was really delicious. I felt that the salmon was very fresh and I thought they gave very large chunks of salmon compared to other restaurants that really do skip out on the salmon portion, but this restaurant did not! The poke had cucumbers, mangoes, avocado, and scallions as well and I felt that the mango with a nice touch to add some sweetness, and it was also very fresh. The addition of the cucumber gave a nice crunchy texture that helped the dish overall. As for the sauce, I got the original non-spicy poker sauce. I didn't use too much of it because a little bit goes a long way. I recommend anyone to come and try out the poker here and I haven't tried their Ramen yet, but I do look forward to it soon.

My party was hanging out in the Inner Harbor area on our last day of trip in Baltimore and wanted…read moreto eat around the area before we head out. I found Ramen Utsuke from Yelp and although it had over 4-stars, I was skeptical because I came from a town with excellent Asian restaurants so I couldn't help but be a bit judgey about the reviews. Stopped by around late 4PM and the tables were still mostly occupied. We were quickly seated in a booth and ordered a few appetizers, bentos, and ramens. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was actually pretty legit Japanese. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen Black and the broth was delicious. The noodles were well done and it had a fair amount of toppings. The pork chashu could be better (they were a little dry) but overall, it was very good in a legitimate-Asian approved way. I also got the avocado salad in onion and roasted garlic dressing and the dressing was the bomb! We use the remainder as dipping sauce for other stuff. Service was great - the staff were very professional and attentive. Definitely recommended!
