While Nisqually Lodge has some negative feedback, overall, I was comfortable to book it based on more recent traveler experiences and specifically for the cabins. So, when, booking it, I made sure to book a stand alone cabin. The cabin was definitely more recently built and just a few steps away from the main lodge. It had a full kitchen, a small deck, "fireplace", a comfy bed and small living room area. I was only there for two nights and would have gladly stayed longer (and wish I had!) It had enough space for 4 people but it was just two of us. The grounds were cute with Adirondack chairs, lawn games and hammocks. The lobby of the lodge was your basic rustic mountain vibe and the staff I interacted with, were very nice. The only issue we had was the hot water running out when taking back to back showers. Since it was a short stay and just the two of us, I didn't say anything. However if you've got more people with you, make note of potentially needing to take shorter showers. The kitchen had all the cooking utensils, plates, cups and amenities you'd want for making your own meals. While there are a few restaurants nearby, hours are limited. We brought some groceries and enjoyed staying in after days of adventures in the park. And speaking of the park, the lodge is just about 5 miles from the Nisqually entrance. Given how busy Paradise can be in Mt Rainier, I wanted to be parked by 7:30 am at the latest. It was so convenient to leave by 6:30 from our lodging and be through the entry kiosk in 10 minutes (with another 45 minutes or so to drive up to Paradise.) Overall, it was an amazing and memorable stay. Book one of their cabins (but check to be sure which one you're booking) and relax and enjoy your surroundings and proximity to the park.

Asked to move to another cabin and was told that they were all booked, spoiler alert - they weren't. All but one other cabin had folks in it. Shower is teeny teeny tiny. The room comes with its own little AC/heater u can control super easily. The big open windows is MARVELOUS I spent many hours just staring at the scenery. They have housekeeping come by while ur gone to replace towels and tidy up. The shared bathrooms were awesome! They're literally 1 minute away (right directly across the cabins) and there's 3. Two of them are normal sized and one is bigger with a vanity. They give u towels in there too and shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Nice rain fall style shower head that's huge and aesthetic , and also a wand if u wanna handheld. Awesome! Theres also a laundry unit but they only take quarters so I sadly could not use. Still awesome that it's available though!! At will! The cafe was cute, delicious, and warm. The restaurant and was cozy and yummy. This whole place is so quaint and gorgeous just to walk around. It's 20 mins from a Longmire home, and about 30 from Mount Rainer. This was THE PERFECT choice. I switched here last minute from a previous place and I'm so so so glad I did. This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had…read more Our group came in after a hike and was told a mandatory 20% gratuity would be added before we were even seated. We agreed to it. At the time, there were only two other tables in the restaurant. Then we sat for 20 minutes without anyone taking our order. No water, no greeting, nothing. When someone finally came over, they handed us a jug of water and walked away. When my friend politely mentioned that we'd been waiting 20 minutes, the waiter smiled and said "Can I take your order now?" No apology. No explanation. By the time our order was taken, the restaurant had started filling up. A large table seated after us was able to order almost immediately and received their food well before we did--even though they ordered some of the exact same items. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't worth the wait. The burgers were dry and the overall quality was mediocre at best. What made the experience even worse was the attitude from the staff. During and after our meal, staff members repeatedly side-eyed our table, exchanged looks, and snickered among themselves. It was incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional. Since we didn't understand the language they were speaking, we couldn't tell what was being said, but it certainly didn't feel welcoming. As I looked around the restaurant, I couldn't help but notice that our table was the only table full of Asians. I can't say for certain why we were treated so differently, but the combination of being ignored, watching other tables receive faster service, and the dismissive behavior from staff left a very bad impression. Poor service, long waits, mediocre food, and uncomfortable atmosphere.

A magical, soul-soothing escape…read more I can't say enough good things about my stay at Wellspring Spa. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I'd stepped into a hidden forest sanctuary. The land itself is breathtaking--towering trees, soft mossy trails, and peaceful stillness that invites you to breathe deeper and slow down. I spent hours wandering the hiking paths and felt like I was in another world. I stayed in the Tahoma cabin, and wow--it was cozy, peaceful, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. (They must have updated them based on what I have read from previous posts!) Every detail in the space felt intentional and grounding. After a day of exploring, soaking in the outdoor hot tub with that stunning view of the trees was exactly what my body and mind needed. And the lofted sauna? Absolutely the coolest (and warmest!) little gem--such a unique and relaxing experience. What really made this place special, though, was the warmth and kindness of the staff. They were so welcoming, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about creating a healing experience for guests. Also: there's a sweet dog who wanders the grounds and melts your heart--truly the cherry on top. Wellspring isn't just a place to stay--it's a place to remember. I already can't wait to come back.

Be aware of possible power outages in the winter/storm season. They do have a backup electric powerpack that handled the coffee maker for us and the tree lights for a couple hours. The four bedrooms were set up perfectly for our family that only includes one pre-teen. This place is excellent and well worth the money. It is a private, secluded lodge situated in a spot that is right before the entrance to Mt Rainier. The stream running through the backyard created a serene environment and the hot tub was perfectly set against it. Be careful with that hot tub in the snow - once you get in, you may not be able to get out! :) There are some disadvantages that you should know about. The water pressure in the bathroom was very weak. The power went off 3x, we called the numbers listed in the book and they eventually returned our calls a few hours later. Unfortunately, once we arrived, we noticed a note on the front of the dishwasher that said "out of service". Okay, no biggie... *trying to be understanding as things happen*. Entered the cabin further and noticed pretty peculiar smells throughout (I thought, well, its a cabin in the PNW, so I imagine it may smell peculiar and soggy from time to time). As I tried to reason that the cabin was worth the $370ish we spent per night, I was proven more and more during our stay as to why that wasn't the case... Tried to turn on the fireplace in the main house, doesn't work. Shower spout is falling off, possibly black mold in the smaller bathroom located by the front door, walls are extremely dirty (especially in high touch areas and behind the garbage cans). Cobwebs in the corners, dead bugs hanging from the light fixtures, igniter on the BBQ doesn't work, couches were sticky and smelled odd, white towels were noticably dirty even though they were washed, beds were so uncomfortable and horrible that we left a day early... The good part of this trip is that we did spend time as a family and played some pool, hiked Mt. Rainier, and enjoyed some down time. Pool table was a great thing to have access to during our stay. The creek in the back is very beautiful in the early morning/late afternoon...but that's about it. I would not return and would not recommend others to stay here & spend this type of money per night until the owners choose to put some TLC into the place to improve its current state. Also, if you are looking for a secluded place to stay, this one isn't it. The Lazy Bears cabin is located in a small-ish community/HOA with many neighbors nearby.
