Beautiful, clean, fully equipped cabin on the river that we will return too! We had a family cabin weekend at the Three Bears Lodge in January. It was absolutely wonderful! The four bedrooms were set up perfectly for our family that only includes one pre-teen. This place is excellent and well worth the money. It is a private, secluded lodge situated in a spot that is right before the entrance to Mt Rainier. The stream running through the backyard created a serene environment and the hot tub was perfectly set against it. Be careful with that hot tub in the snow - once you get in, you may not be able to get out! :) There are some disadvantages that you should know about. The water pressure in the bathroom was very weak. The power went off 3x, we called the numbers listed in the book and they eventually returned our calls a few hours later. We booked the Lazy Bears cabin for ourselves, 4 kiddos, and my mother as a family trip (7 people total). The ad/description/pics online make the place look very sharp and clean. Unfortunately, once we arrived, we noticed a note on the front of the dishwasher that said "out of service". Okay, no biggie... *trying to be understanding as things happen*. Entered the cabin further and noticed pretty peculiar smells throughout (I thought, well, its a cabin in the PNW, so I imagine it may smell peculiar and soggy from time to time). As I tried to reason that the cabin was worth the $370ish we spent per night, I was proven more and more during our stay as to why that wasn't the case... Tried to turn on the fireplace in the main house, doesn't work. Shower spout is falling off, possibly black mold in the smaller bathroom located by the front door, walls are extremely dirty (especially in high touch areas and behind the garbage cans). Cobwebs in the corners, dead bugs hanging from the light fixtures, igniter on the BBQ doesn't work, couches were sticky and smelled odd, white towels were noticably dirty even though they were washed, beds were so uncomfortable and horrible that we left a day early... The good part of this trip is that we did spend time as a family and played some pool, hiked Mt. Rainier, and enjoyed some down time. Pool table was a great thing to have access to during our stay. The creek in the back is very beautiful in the early morning/late afternoon...but that's about it. I would not return and would not recommend others to stay here & spend this type of money per night until the owners choose to put some TLC into the place to improve its current state. Also, if you are looking for a secluded place to stay, this one isn't it. The Lazy Bears cabin is located in a small-ish community/HOA with many neighbors nearby. read more

We had so much fun here..the views are amazing, the cabin was clean and fresh. My only complaint was that the upstairs beds were horrible. It was like sleeping on a kitchen table. They were so hard I actually lost sleep. The king bed us upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. Be careful on the wood stairs..beside the bad beds, we loved every min. We stayed in the Lazy Bears Creekside Cabin and I really enjoyed my night here. This place has everything you need. Hot tub, fire pit, grill, kitchen, game room with pool table. Plenty of places to sleep. Everything felt quiet, nature-like and peaceful. We even had a creek in the backyard to enjoy and definitely took advantage of everything available. The worst part about everything was when we had to leave. I would love to come back and enjoy my stay here a little bit longer. read more

My family came here to remember my best friend, my dad, my Superman, Marlin, who passed away four years ago April 1st... We check out in the morning. We stayed a week. At first, it appeared nice, we even extended our stay. As time went on, we realized there were a few pros and MANY cons... Pros: There was enough space for all seven of us. The kids liked the game room. The newer fridge was nice. It was clean. The deer were awesome. Good and fast booking. Cons: This cabin is in NO WAY secluded. This is in a rural housing HOA development. There are people on both sides (actually all the way around the cabin) VERY VERY close and nothing for privacy. Kitchen: no broiling pan, knob on oven broken and sharp, spices are measured out and very limited. No room to put anything, like groceries and such, every single cupboard and drawer is taken and there's limited counter space. Laundry: one washer, two dryers. Only laundry soap is provided, it is measured out and not enough for a week for seven people. The washer makes a HORRIBLE squeak and when water is being used, the pipes sound like the chug of a loud freight train. The dryer takes three cycles to dry. You can not do laundry at night, as the sounds kept everyone up the first night. Bathrooms: measured out and very limited TP, paper towels, towels, hand soap, etc. Not enough provided for seven people. Had to get our own. Towels are old and edges are torn up. The rest: BBQ is dirty and both cans of gas were left empty. The hot tub is dirty and I think I'm getting a UTI from it. (I've taken a pic of the water, if I have a UTI, they'll be getting the bill) Satellite doesn't work in the game room. The channels are VERY basic and mostly Hispanic. It's a first generation Xbox, not a 360 or Xbox one... But, the games are not even for the Xbox out there. Beds are very low quality, you can feel the springs. Low quality linen. WiFi is insanely slow, like cellular network slow. Things are low quality and outdated and/or damaged. Telemarketing calls everyday. No use of the garage. No puzzle or game had all their pieces. There isn't enough room to play pool and not break something. There are things posted all over the cabin, basically saying "big brother is watching", meaning, they say more than once, they count and document EVERY SINGLE ITEM after every single stay and if something is missing, you'll be charged. There are SEVERAL false statements I've caught. To wrap up my review, I have to be honest, we won't be coming back here. It's just not worth it... This outdated cabin (actually a house with a cabin facade) is NOT worth the rate charged. I see why there is a no refund policy here, I'm certain others have been disappointed before. The pics look great, the front looks good, but, once you settle in, you realize this place is NOT what the company says it is. Their description is VERY inaccurate and dishonest and obviously worded to get you in the door. Almost 400$ a night with fees and everything, worth 210$ a night MAX. Save your money. Go elsewhere. Wellspring and Copper Creek are SO SO SO much better!!!! read more

My wife Emily and I just got back from our trip - we stayed in the 'Starry Nights by the Creek" cabin - and we had an absolutely wonderful time!! The cabin is very spacious for two people, we had more than enough room and ended up not using the main bedroom and instead sleeping in the 'great room'. In the 'great room' is a queen bed, TV with satellite, a couple couches, a pool table, and darts - which means we were going to spend all our time there anyway! Having satellite TV was pretty nice, and we had a good time laying in bed watching Doctor Who, and we played a few games of darts and pool. Our goal was to spend our time doing as little as possible. :) In the morning we would wake up, make some waffles, and sit at the kitchen table that overlooks the creek. The creek is literally right in the backyard and is in full view from inside or from the hot tub. Speaking of the hot tub, it was already warm when we got there, and we lounged in there in the afternoon and had a surprise visit from some deer. The inside of the cabin is very well kept - it was clean, and there are little notes that say how to do this and that, and everything in the kitchen is labeled, so it was really easy to find our way around. They have DSL and wifi, which was very handy for us to check our e-mail and stuff, but there is absolutely no cell phone service within about 20 minutes, so make sure your GPS or phone has the area's map pre-loaded. We arrived a bit after sunset (we hit traffic leaving Seattle at 2:30pm on Friday, and didn't arrive until 5:30) - the cabin was a bit difficult to find in the dark, so give yourself a bit more time than we did. We cannot wait to go again!! We're thinking about bring up some friends with us next time and staying through the week! read more

We stayed at Three Bears Lodge a few weeks ago as a last minute weekend retreat and had a great time. There were 6 of us including 2 kids and there was plenty of room for all of us throughout the cabin. Selling point was definitely the hot tub which was right outside on the deck, and my brother-in-law (the chef) was very happy to find everything that he forgot to bring for cooking already in the kitchen. The kids spent most of the time playing video games and watching the DVDs that were provided and the rest of us huddled around the table for cards both nights. Bonus points to the owners for thinking of everything as the other review mentioned. The cabins definitely felt like home and I'm still impressed we managed to snag it on a weekend with just a months notice. I've stayed in many vacation rentals via VRBO in the past and this was definitely the most thorough and professional one I've dealt with yet. They sent a packet of information after we made the reservation that had everything to do in the area, which was super handy. On that note, highly recommend that you get groceries before you get to the town, since the local place didn't have a ton of food options. We spent an afternoon inside the national park and the next afternoon went to the Northwest Trek Safari on our way back home (highly recommended). Plenty to do inside the national park but we stuck to a quick hike and the visitor's center and that was most of the afternoon right there. Definitely would (and have) told some friends about these cabins already. Two thumbs up! read more

5.25.2011 We just returned from our family vacation at Mt. Rainier where we stayed in the Little Bears Cabin for a week. Every detail was thought of and we've never had so many items provided with a rental. Everything from coffee, tea, waffle mix....the list goes on and on! After hiking the mountain during the day, the hot tub was an added bonus when returning to the cabin or you can sit by the fire at the outdoor fire ring and still enjoy the outdoors! The cabin was comfortable and clean and we could not have asked for a better place to stay while in Washington. We hope to return to Mt. Rainier and would definitely stay with Three Bears Lodge!! We couldn't have been happier with the Starry Nights Cabin. It was well off the main road, so it was very peaceful and quiet, and we loved the creek that runs through the property.. The cabin was very well equipped and super clean. We've stayed at many cabins at many National Parks, and this one was by far the best we've had. The owner has obviously paid great attention to even the smallest details from the treat basket for the dog, to the popcorn we enjoyed while watching the television...it even had a pool table and a slot machine to keep us entertained. If you are looking for a cabin very near Mt. Rainier National Park, I'd highly recommend this one. read more

By the time you reach the road that the Dancing Bear Lodge (one of several Three Bears' properties) rests on, the anticipation is nearly maxed out. Now, most people would have already visited the website and previewed what was in store for them, but we had remained so far out of the loop in planning this surprise birthday for our friend that we had literally no idea what to expect. Honestly, for how affordable the place was (about 70 dollars per person for two nights) I really didn't think it would be all that impressive... Silly me. We arrived at 3:15pm to find the owner sweeping the carport. I know that seems like a goofy detail to include, but it speaks volumes for the care they give to their properties. After thirty minutes of wandering the road on foot while they finished cleaning, we returned and let ourselves in. It was like walking into a dream. The living room was huge and cozy, the kitchen was enormous and fully stocked with everything you could ever need for food prep (you bring your own food and drinks), the dining room was in a seperate room surrounded on three sides by huge windows and both sides opened to decks. There was a hot tub in the back, a fire pit, a wood burning stove. 6 beds in four bedrooms, four futons in family rooms, two bathrooms (one of which had a dual head shower). There was even a laundry room with two washers and two dryers. I guess I was expecting more of a party style shack or something... again based on affordability... but this place is clearly set up to hand family vacations just as often or moreso than weekend retreats for us 'youngins'. The lodge is located only a few miles from the entrance to Rainier Natl Park and serves as a fantastic launching point for hikes and whatnot. We never even left the property since we were only there for two days, but I hope we can organize a return trip to span a little more time in the future. **There is WiFi which is nice but there is literally no cell phone coverage for twenty miles so plan accordingly - Personally, it was nice remembering what its like to not have one available but at the same time, I felt a little naked not being able to text. read more

Everything from our first look to checkout was five stars. They replied to our booking request quickly with a bunch of information about the cabin, easy to follow directions, and activities in area. We booked the Coho Cabin on a little bit of short notice, about two months. We arrived to find it just as advertised. The cabin is a little rustic, or you could say well seasoned. But what the hell... you did booked a cabin in the woods. Everything with the cabin was in great shape, and working well. If I had anything to complain about, it would be the water pressure from the shower and kitchen sink... it's a little slow, but it kinda adds to the charm of this place. We had a great time, and will book again. read more

We just spent 3 nights and 4 days at Three Bears Lodge and loved our cabin. It had everything a family could want while camping near Mt. Rainier. It even had a dog run which our dog just loved. The kitchen was fully stocked so cooking meals was a piece of cake, the beds were comfortable, the space was roomy and the fire pit and hot tub were so much fun as well. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because our cabin was literally right on the highway so there was a lot of noise from cars going in and out of the park which was sort of annoying in the early morning BUT it really wasn't that big of a deal. The rest of the experience was so wonderful and will definitely be back. read more

Took my fiance here for his birthday. I had a great time. The cabin we stayed at was very clean warm and cozy. The fireplace heated the place nice. The bed was nice and comfortable. I like that it came with a full kitchen. (No dishwasher like the ad said) I didn't personally like how the bathroom was near the back, it made it cold and not welcoming. It should be upstairs where is was warm . It had a funky smell, I guess that's the cabin life. I also didn't like how they charge a $25 cleaning fee and make it very clear that the cabin should look EXCATLY like how it looked when you arrived....ummm isn't that what the $25 cleaning fee was for? I don't know but when i stay at hotels or anywhere I never have to clean up after myself. I paid 215 to stay here, that should be your job. It's not really relaxing when I have to clean on my vacation, or birthday or any matter. My personal view. Other than that I had a great find. The hot tub was very clean. The fire pit was a nice touch. The cabins were closer than expect too. I didn't like how the cabin across the street could see us as well as next door. Wouldn't stay at this personal cabin again but would try other ones in the future. read more

Every year our family gets together for about a week, this year we picked the Dancing Bear lodge and were very excited. When we arrived, it looked as it did in the pictures. Spacious and well equipped, until we started settling in. The fridge is so small, I had a bigger fridge in my first apartment years ago. For the size house and the amount of people this lodge fits, it is a joke. This house needs a fridge double the size or bigger. Our food didn't fit in it and we had to put it outside in plastic bins, hoping the wild animals wouldn't get to it. The microwave did not function properly and only a few of the buttons worked. The coffee maker and toaster had all the print rubbed off. The wall oven was set in the base cabinets, next to the dishwasher with all the buttons within reach of our young children, which obviously kept pressing and turning it on. I could not let them roam for one second because of a wall oven set so low. Not very safe with young children. Taking a shower was torture as the shower heads had to be at least 15-20 years old. They had barely any water coming out. It took me nearly and hour to take a "quick" shower and wash my hair. My husband is 6'5" and he was very dissatisfied. It would cost maybe $30 to install a decent shower head. We went to the game room which was amazing only to be rained on. Yes the roof was leaking. After putting towels and bowls down where the leaks were, we decided to call it a night. When we got into bed, I jumped out because the sheets felt like a potato sack. Oh my goodness, I have never felt anything so rough on my skin! I had to put on my sweat pants and long sleeve shirt before getting back in. Thank goodness at least the pillow cases were cotton, not the rough material the sheets were made of. Then I discovered that the king size beds are actually twins, pushed together. I wouldn't have a problem with that if they had the proper filler for the center, not just a foam strip that didn't do anything. This was the case on all of the so called king size beds. I spent the first night in all my years of being married on one side of the bed and my husband on the other because we couldn't sleep in the center, together. The mattresses downstairs were not very comfortable. My siblings said the upstairs were a little better but had the same twin mattress and sheets issue. The guest house with game room mattresses were comfortable but same twin mattress issue, huge gap in the center. The television in main area is ancient and very poor quality. When I called the office, I was told by Star that they knew about the leak and apparently whoever was supposed to fix it, didn't. The other problems we had could not be addressed. We found the lodge very attractive and spacious, that's why we paid the big bucks to rent it. We were very sad there were so many problems discovered in one evening after arriving. There were a lot of positives, I loved how big it was, the game room, hot tub, fire pit and the awesome, long dining table. The laundry room was big and fit the size house, which is rare! But the negatives unfortunately outweighed the positives therefore I requested a refund and was given the run-around for a while but I finally got my money refunded back onto my bank card. We started frantically looking to reserve another house, elsewhere. This was a major inconvenience for us as we all drove from different parts of Washington and Oregon. We had children that we took out of school and one of my sisters had to rent a car. Luckily, we were able to reserve a cabin which was much smaller and we were quite crammed but everything worked, no leaks or gaps in beds. I would consider giving this place another try if these things were addressed. Getting new sheets, updating the shower heads, making sure leaks are fixed and updating the small appliances. The pots and pans need a good scrubbing too, they were pretty gross and I had to scrub the ones I used. For the amount of money charged I felt ripped off due to these issues. We have rented many, many times before and have never come across issues like this. We prefer to pay more and get quality. I could not believe I went on vacation to lower standards than I live in. Unacceptable for the price. read more

First off let me start by saying the place is nice and quiet, so much so that the field mice frolic about in front of you late at night while trying to watch a movie with my wife! It's the country, I guess they all have mice? It's nice and close to Mt. Rainier, which is why we came. We also felt that for the price, this place should be full service. What I mean is, if you stay in a hotel they don't ask you to fully clean up the place when you leave or they will charge you. We need dog friendly and they provide a kennel, dishes, toys, tape roller and a comfy bed for our fur baby. Their hot tubs are spacious and spotless and the tranquility can't be beat. read more

My family and I (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs) spent this past weekend at 'Little Bears Cabin.' It was a surprise get-away for my husband's birthday. When we pulled up we were all really impressed. The cabin was by far the nicest we had seen driving to the area. It was lit up with lights on the deck and looked clean and accommodating. Overall, everything was wonderful: the kitchen well stocked, really nice hot-tub (my husband was impressed with the size), toys for the kids, relaxing yard and fire-pit, and very clean. It is a huge deal for me to have a clean place.....I couldn't even find dust on many of the "hidden" places. And this is a cabin that accepts dogs. It is obvious the owners and staff care about their properties and the experiences of their guests. The only upgrade I would make would be one of the couches, not much support and a bit worn. This is actually the second time we have stayed at one of the Three Bears Lodges to enjoy the surrounding Mt. Rainier NP. The last time was quite a while ago and at a different cabin (Lazy Bears Creekside Cabin), but it was also very clean, comfortable and relaxing. We chose the Three Bears Lodge for it's proximity to the entrance of Mt. Rainier (300 feet!) and it's hot tub in the backyard. When we arrived it was dark out and we were pleasantly surprised how nicely lit up the house and front yard were. I was a little worried it might be scary arriving in a wooded area at night and it was definitely not! The inside was warm and welcoming with lights turned on for us. We didn't bring a dog but thought it was so nice they had a kennel for your dog and a basket of doggie supplies, as well as a beautiful and spacious dog run! The gas fireplace was so warm and the couch was ridiculously comfortable, we felt at home right away! A pleasant surprise was the jetted tub in the bathroom which I wasn't expecting. The kitchen was huge and beautiful and was a joy to cook in together. Another thing I liked was how kid friendly they strived to make the home with many kids toys, movies, and board games provided, along with booster seats and even a cupboard of separate cups and plates for children. The loft with the twin beds was adorable and I know any kids would love to sleep up there. The cabin has a very romantic vibe with the fireplace, lighting, and beautiful wood features so we were surprised how welcoming it was to families. It was just the two of us for this trip but the Three Bears Lodge has made us want to return in the future with our two kids and dog in tow. A definite recommendation for couples and families alike. read more

We recently stay at the the Dancing Bear Lodge for a weekend getaway with family and friends. I was so surprised when we drove up the the property as it was absolutely beautiful and couldn't believe that we only had to take that short drive from Seattle to come to such a beautiful space. I was even more surprised when we walked inside! The lodge was perfect for our group. I was worried that becuase of the size of our group we would be on top of each other, but we weren't (we had 10 adults and 11 kids). We were all able to have dinner together in the large dining room (it is a seperate room with huge windows that allow you to enjoy the environment while eating). We could have had more people if we wanted. Everyone had space to play games, enjoy the fire, watch movies, etc. I was really impressed with the amenities. The kitchen had everything we needed to make dinner for our large group. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of board games and DVD's provided by the lodge for the kids. You need to experience this place! I agree with the other reviewer that the place is affordable and impressive. read more

What an amazing place to take the whole family! We had a family/friends gathering and stayed at The Dancing Bear Lodge to celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday and it was a dream mini vacation. The lodge is absolutely beautiful with a game room that entertained the older kids for hours while the younger children enjoyed the outdoor play area. Believe it or not, with 8 kids total, not one fight broke out for a total of three days! The dining room is gorgeous and accommodates large parties perfectly. We enjoyed several group meals and a magical birthday dinner lit up by candles in the "sun room" setting. Our evenings were filled with conversations and laughter around the outdoor fire pit and then long relaxing soaks in the hot tub underneath the stars. But the best part of the whole experience was that my little tween came out of her constant brood for the entirety of the vacation and, as we headed home, told me it was the best birthday she had ever had. I highly recommend Three Bears Lodge to any and all families looking for a get away in the Mt. Rainier area. I promise you won't be disappointed and if you have a small brood it will be the most relaxing getaway you may have had since becoming mom and dad! read more

I recently joined several of my friends for a midweek girlfriend's getaway at Mt. Rainer. We stayed in Little Bear's cabin for two nights and it was everything we had hoped. Because the cabin came well stocked with everything from cozy linens to kitchen supplies -- plus waffle breakfast and coffee makings -- we only had to pack lightly to be perfectly prepared. The cabin itself is outfitted with furnishings that create a luxurious, yet rustic atmosphere. So we enjoyed the comfort of high-end travel while still getting the deep-woods vacation experience. This cabin was perfect for cooking beautiful meals, late night hot tubbing and six women needing to escape the mid-week city hustle. We just may make this an annual thing! We just returned from a weekend family reunion of 17 people at the Dancing Bear Lodge (the largest cabin in the Three Bears Lodge collection). We had a wonderful time. The Lodge is very well appointed for a large group and it is stocked with about everything you might need and some things you wouldn't expect such as baby monitors and TWO large capacity washers and dryers. The Lodge was constructed with enough room to have privacy if you need it. It is conveniently located very near the park entrance. If you forgot anything, the store in Ashford is well stocked and is open from 8am to 10pm daily. read more

My entire family and friends came from all over the United States to enjoy a family reunion at the Three Bears Lodge 2 years in a row,and both years were a success. The lodges were very nice, theres lots of room for people to sleep, the beds were very comfy,and it was stocked with fun games and things for everyone to do. My sisters fiance is also a chef, and the kitchen was amazing, it was very big and all the appliances were very handy. We enjoyed every dinner in a large dining area with windows all around you so you could enjoy the beautiful forest while eating breakfest,lunch and dinner. I also loved the side house with the pool table and jacuzzi in the backyard. There was also a slide and swing set which the little ones loved. The backyard was huge,and it was a great place to play family games. Its a very beautiful lodge for any size family to enjoy. This review is for two nights at "Coho Cabin." I have stayed multiple times previously in the "Three Bears Lodge" cabin, and the experience was excellent. This one was a bit disappointing. The cabin overall was clean, and cozy. It does not have a dishwasher like the others, and because guests hand wash their own dishes, we found many of them to be dirty. The wi-fi would connect, but there was still no internet. Neither myself nor my partner could get the internet to work at all. The second night, we decided to use the hot tub. It was ice cold and seemed to be stuck on some sort of error message. Since it was past 10pm, we didn't want to bother management, so no hot tub for us. This cabin is located on a much busier road than the last, and it was difficult to take our dog for a walk when there was no safe place to walk next to such a busy road. I plan to return to "Three Bears Lodge", but not to this particular cabin. I hope they make sure the housekeepers test the hot tub and wi-fi between every stay, as those were the biggest disappointments. read more

We stayed at the Starry Nights cabin in early Dec. for 3 nights, and it was not somewhere we would go back to. The cabin was clean, and as stated, decorated "eclectically". I didn't care for the stuffed bobcat in the corner, and the main room is FULL of stuff, packed into every corner. It is a nice setting by the creek but perhaps not as private as it may seem. More importantly, my main issue with this place is that it was extremely overpriced. We paid $220/night for the weekend nights, and at that rate, had much higher expectations. The beds are very soft and the one in the main bedroom sinks toward the middle so neither of us slept very well. The bathroom is separate from the bedroom and the wall heater was out of order, so the bathroom was very cold. It is described as being a 2 bath cabin, but the 2nd bathroom had a stand up metal shower, laundry tub sink and a toilet that was out of order. To us, it was a bathroom that would be part of an RV trailer. We snow shoed every day and came home to cook dinner and sit by the fire. There was one bundle of wood that was on the front porch. Because it's a fireplace and not a wood stove, you go thru a lot more wood, so saying they supply firewood is accurate, but it's only for 1 day. Be prepared to buy a lot more wood if you stay longer than one night. The toaster didn't work and we ran out of propane in the middle of grilling our chicken one night. I think reviews are important. We travel all over the world and other reviews come into play when we are making our lodging choices. I think they tried with this place, but it was just too expensive for what it was. read more
