Best of the PNW! We've been coming to Silver Skis for 7 years and have built memories to last a lifetime for the kids and adults alike. The rooms are comfortable and charming with fully stocked kitchens, the staff is amazing, the pool is the *perfect* just-under-hot-tub temp for apres ski, they have games & DVDs, you are steps away from the base of Crystal and several trails, and to top it all off, they've got the most coveted parking on the entire mountain. If you're thinking of staying here, DON'T! I stayed here for a wedding because I had to, so if you have any other option please choose to do that. AirBnB that's an hour away? DO THAT! I paid close to $900 for two days. For what? I have no idea because they charge you extra for left behind dishes and they charge you extra for trash left in the bin (also, don't come at me with the bs that I signed an agreement, I f**cking know I signed it, I would just rather not drive down the entire damn mountain after learning of your crap). You're getting a crappy cabin/motel for a luxury hotel rate. You're also just trapped there with the crappiest food imaginable. The Alpine Inn Dining/Snorting Elk? LOATHSOME FOOD. You're getting a crappy burger with no fries only Tim Cascade chips for $21, the sandwich was worse than a lunchable (and WAY more overpriced), and the pasta was inedible with a rock hard meatball (and not in the good way) and undercooked pasta noodles. However, if you're looking for incredibly overpriced for a worse-than- motel experience, then look no further! read more

Stayed there in early August and we had such a great time! The unit we rented was very clean, newly renovated and with all of the amenities you would need. It even had heated floors!!!! The staff was super friendly and helpful with assisting us with our needs during our visit. Overall facility was great and the heated pool was awesome. My son and I were surprised with all of the activities that the resort offered during the summer including excellent trails for hiking with the PCT right near by. I've been coming to Silver Skis since I was a kid, and I really appreciate the recent updates. Management is kind and helpful. Whether summer or winter, I like to grill next to the pool - and the pool is amazing recovery after a long summer hike or day on the slopes. Being so close to the mountain makes this place an extra special gem. WiFi is spotty, so be sure to download your shows ;) or just bring books and games. (They also have a great selection of books, games, and DVDs for rent in the office!) read more

I expected a lot more for almost $300 per night. We did not go for the upgraded room, and the one we were put in was ok. The floors were a little wet in places but the beds were comfortable and the kitchen decently appointed. We found a full dishwasher on arrival so left dishes in the sink and were slapped with a $25 cleaning fee. We could hear every word of the people staying above us as well as the vibrations when their phone ring. Do not choose this place for a romantic getaway! Certainly not worth the price. read more

I went here for a weekend wedding and had a great time -- despite the lodging and interactions with the management. First, these suites are individually owned by people who ski in the winter (or have some other reason to own a house on a mountain). This means, that the exterior doors look the same, but the innards ... range. It is best to clarify what you are getting before you decide to plunk down your dollars. Second, this place hosts a lot of weddings, which implies, to me, that they would be able to handle a courtyard reception with grace and thoughtfulness. Perhaps I should say "tolerate" since they don't provide food or cleaning services. They do threaten fines if you exceed "loud hours" or overstay your time in the pool, and they have the foresight to circulate these messages about an hour before they go into effect. This would have been great had it been handled in less abrupt / abrasive manner by the staff. We rolled everyone out of the pool and closed up shop maybe 20 minutes before the "time limit" of our festivities. Third, (in my suite only) there were no sheets on our beds when we pulled down the blankets nor pillowcases or towels. Neither could we find any when we searched the closets. Since the office closed about an hour earlier, I didn't get an answer when we called the service number. The next morning, I got accusational looks when I walked into the office (door unlocked) at ening time to get some sheets and towels -- oh, and free coffee. Apparently I should check to see if there are sheets on a bed when I arrive. News.to.me. Fourth, our suite smelled nasty. We debated whether someone prior to our arrival had smoked cigars or cigarettes (in a no smoking room) or perhaps the room was just increbibly musty... Either way, we certainly kept the windows open. Our next door neighbors had a different weird smell, so maybe this is an option that you get to choose when you book the room, if you know what to ask. All these things could be forgiven if the room was cheap or if we were staying in a hostel or if a group of 100+ people had descended at the last minute onto an otherwise sleepy establishment. None of these things applied. I hate to spot the invisible hand of economics, but perhaps the utter lack of competition has lead to a corresponding lack in the level of services. Since it isn't like another place is going to pop up on Crystal Mountain anytime soon, shop smart and ignore the stink eye from Crystal Mountain Lodge Suites, because all of the other bits of the experience are pretty awesome. read more

This is the best place to stay on the mountain. The management and staff are so professional and helpful. They trying and make your stay the most amazing experience you've ever had. All the condos are individually owned. The owners allow the lodging staff to rent out to visitors of Crystal Mountain. So when you get a room it might not be the same as a previous room you stayed in. But when making a reservation if there was a room you stayed in that you liked they can easily look up that room and see if it's available for your stay. Also this is the only hotel on the mountain that has a pool, and it's heated!! We always make it a point to stay here when we need on the mountain lodging. Keep in mind that during the winter months on the weekends a 2 night say is requires and during the holidays there are different requirements for stays. They fill up quickly so if you want to stay here book early. read more

I have grown up coming to Silver Skis. It is the most magical place in Washington when it comes to a ski resort. Welcoming and friendly staff, and the condos are always clean and cozy. We come here all months of the year--in the summer time we love hiking, using the BBQs by the pool, having a cold beer on the deck, mountain biking, and taking the gondola to the top! In the winter we love to wake up in our unit, light a nice fire while we cook breakfast, then hit the slopes. Nothing like coming home from a long day of skiing to hopping in the pool with all of the other guests! It's kind of like the "Silver Skis Apres". If you don't want to join the 'pool happy hour', you can always walk across the parking lot for some fun at the Snorting Elk. Great pizza there, too. We absolutely love it here and will continue coming back for as long as we can. Rates are definitely affordable for what you get! read more

I am a big fan of Crystal Mountain Lodging Suites. I agree that staff is super helpful and strive to make it a great stay. Also, there is nothing like the heated pool! All of the rooms are different. Be sure to make reservations in advance and express your room needs. Staff will meet them as best as possible. This is one of my favorite get away locations in summer and winter. read more

We stayed here with my kids for a few days during our spring break, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I get the feeling that it helps to either pony up for the "preferred" condo, or have some familiarity with the available condos, so you know what you're getting into. I think it was $25 extra per night for the preferred version. Our condo was great - it was nicely appointed, recently remodeled, clean, and had a great corner spot - nice views and pretty quiet. I would ask for this suite again if I went back. The 98 degree pool is awesome. We camped out in it after each day of skiing and it was toasty. It was full of people and kids but somehow not annoying. As far as people complaining about the staff at the lodge and the restaurant, I sometimes wonder if they have ever been on that side of the desk/bar. I have high standards also, but some of what other reviewers describe sounds like a little empathy would go a long way to getting better service, IMHO. And, lastly, for skiers, it doesn't get any better than just wandering over with your skis and hopping on the lift or gondola. And if the snow is deep enough you can basically ski all the way back down to your door at the end of the day. Fun! read more

Definitely enjoyed staying here for a few nights - you can ski right over to the bottom of the ski lifts. The pool wasn't really warm enough to swim in, but the condos were nice to stay in. No underground parking, though, so your car can get covered in snow. read more

The weather conditions for an out of towner in a rental car were not ideal, but Rehnae exhibited real concern for our safety and allowed us to cancel so we could make it down the mountain before another foot of snow fell. read more

We recently stayed in a preferred room for 3 nights and the accommodations were great. That normally wouldn't spur me though to write a review. What did is the fact that the management team went out of their way to contact me, and then package up and mail to me, my son's smartwatch that he'd just received for his b-day and accidentally left in the room. The location is ideal- closest to the Gondola,hiking trails, restaurants and really close to Mt. Rainier National Park. Our room was very clean and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook a family meal- they even have BBQ grills outside near the pool! The staff is super helpful and they have lots of extra amenities that really make this place stand out- lots of board games and outdoor games to borrow, a massive DVD rental library, and the POOL is fantastic. I also really appreciated the upscale bathroom toiletries and good coffee. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights at a preferred 1 bedroom unit. First time to Crystal Mountain. The condos are located within 5min walking distance from the base lodge. It's a perfect set up for skiing families on a winter getaway. Our condo unit was fully furnished, clean and packed with helpful amenities. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, which made dining in our unit easy. The heated pool is an awesome place to relax after a long day on the slopes. We found the staff to be knowledgeable, accommodating and helpful. This place has everything needed for being away from home. We loved our stay here and will do it again. read more

We stayed at Silver Skis Chalet for two nights on Jan. 2 - 3, 2015 and came away very disappointed. The location at the base of Crystal Mountain ski area is great, but the unit we were in (#118, single bedroom unit) was run down and in need of significant repairs and maintenance as was the facility in general. The staff was very helpful and friendly but also seemed overwhelmed by the number of maintenance calls they were receiving from various guests (each time we called to have something fixed or checked out, they apologized for taking a long time to respond, noting that they were held up by other urgent maintenance calls). A few minor maintenance issues wouldn't be enough to bother me but we encountered several that were significant and also raised safety concerns. At a cost of several hundred dollars a night to stay over a weekend, I left feeling like I was ripped off and paying 4 times what it was worth for what seemed like a low budget operation. Location is one thing, but not worth this poorly maintained, unsafe experience. My recommendation: avoid this location if you are looking for a safe, low hassle, respectably maintained facility. Here is the list of problems we encountered: - The ceiling above our bathroom leaked water from the bathroom/bath tub in the unit above us down into our bathroom and this water would run and drip from the light fixture right above and down into our shower area. While we raised concern about taking a shower standing under a light fixture with a stream of water dripping down onto you, we were reassured that the light fixture was sealed and wouldn't pose a shock issue (just like the bath tub above was supposed to be "sealed".....). - The base-board electrical heater in the main room of the unit quit working on day two. The thermostat was also hissing and sputtering raising concerns about the facilities electrical systems and safety. The maintenance person did some troubleshooting and determined that the baseboard heater was completely out of commission and he couldn't fix it. After a day of skiing and coming in from freezing temperatures, having a very cold room without heat was a bit much. The maintenance man brought in a portable electrical space heater which we had to use for the rest of our stay to keep the unit heated. - While the maintenance guy was troubleshooting the heater, he mentioned to us that it had been a hectic day and mentioned the unit above us (the one with the water leak from the tub and into our electrical light fixture "we shouldn't worry about") had a near disaster earlier in the day (while we were skiing) due to an electrical fire they just caught in time. He said that they were lucky that the guest in that unit had come back to lunch and discovered an electrical fire and smoke in the unit above ours and was able to get help before it got out of hand. The maintenance guy said it was caused by an short in the hot water heater and they had "fixed it" so no need to worry! - The fan in the bathroom was very loud and rattled extensively so that you didn't want to turn it on at all. It appeared to be loose and sounded like it was going to come flying apart. - The TV and DVD/VCR set up did not work initially as it was not set up and most of the plugs and connections were disconnected. They also did not have the needed remotes to operate it and take advantage of all the functions. We ultimately had to have maintenance come to investigate and connect the devices together. They couldn't find the correct remote combinations and we had to simply learn to operate all the various devices manually from the controls directly on the side or on the front of different devices themselves. Not that this is a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but this added to the time and hassle factor associated with the unit and the sense that you aren't getting what you paid for in terms of the advertised amenities. On the first night (Friday night), the place was very loud and the 10 PM quiet time was a joke and not enforced at all. There seemed to be very little insulation between the walls and floors, so we endured loud music, parties and young children running around until after midnight. As noted above, the location is great and the staff was mostly friendly - unfortunately, the Silver Skis Chalet facility itself was a major disappointment and not worth the premium price. I would avoid this location. read more
