Firstly I want to give a huge thank you to Barbie at the Nordic Center. I had had a terrible day…read moreand ended up skiing past closing time. Instead of being mad she was incredibly kind. She was worried about me and concerned for my safety. On a Friday night she stayed when she probably had plans after a long week risking her safety for customers during COVID, and, when I returned, was not mad but kind. The Mountain itself is lovely but a view of the lake mountains ascend. This year has been excruciating, and I am so thankful for people like Barbie and her staff who remain compassionate, selfless, and patient in the face of adversity. It was a lovely day and I will never forget it. The mountain is beautiful with lots of options. The trail is tough, for sure- after the bridge it is a climb the whole way, but if you stay patient, no matter if you get to the 12-km-up top or not, it's worth it. Thank you!!! I wish you, Barbie and staff, my best, and skiers: have fun! Be safe! Don't stay out too late! :)

About an hour after leaving Seattle we were up in the beautiful, magnificent mountains.... and ski lessons with skis and boots was only 59 dollars each! The lesson was 1.5 hours and mostly involved going around and around and around a small loop again and again and again with elderly people, children and some embarrassed adults. The instructor was funny and stayed on topic and did a good job of making sure each person got help. My one star off is that the ski lodge is too small and lots of people were eating their packed lunches on the floor. I couldn't find a water fountain to refill my water bottle. I read all the other reviews and knew not to buy any of the food there. The parking lot was insanely full when we left at 2 pm. We got to the lot at 9 am and had no problem parking near the lodge area and didn't need to wait in line to sign up for lessons. From the website: The Nordic Center typically operates from mid-December through early April. Since we rely on natural snow, opening and closing dates each season may vary due to snow conditions. Closing dates are also influenced by business levels. The Nordic Center is a WEEKEND operation for The Summit at Snoqualmie and maintains business hours Fridays (during peak season), Saturdays, Sundays, and some Holiday Periods. During hours of operation, The Summit Nordic Center is open from 9am-3:30pm. Standard drop-in group Lesson times are at 10:30am and 1:00pm.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! *Food: They have a college cafeteria-style option nearby, but we chose to eat in North Bend at the Iron Duck. Great kids menu, huge restaurant with plenty of seating - we had a long table with plenty of space. Food was delicious, and ample selections of ciders/beers. *Reservations: Super easy, but get on it! The Saturday options were mostly booked out over a week in advance. They offer day sessions, about 2 hours each (9:30am, 11a, 1:15p, 3:15p) and night sessions (5:15p, 7:15p). The website is simple enough, be ready to sign waivers. *Drive/parking: Easy to find off (and not far from) the freeway using GPS. The parking lot needs more signage! We weren't completely sure we found it with all the snow and rain. *Go around a bend to the right, and you'll see a little ticket cabin with windows. *Staff: WONDERFUL. From check-in using our e-mail to the staff on the hill, they were all smiles. *Tubing: Awesome!! Our time was 5:15 - 7pm, but with the 4 year old, we were done about 6:40pm. We were able to go up to the hill constantly without much waiting. Everything is provided for you - sledding tube (we took the kids on it with us, or two 7-8 year olds together) and tram to take you back up so you don't get exhausted. Ah so fun. *Tips: Snow gear is a MUST. Boots, gloves that tighten under coats, etc. Bring a change of clothes for the little ones in the car. This saved us as a few toes got wet. Thank you Summit!

Our large group was full of littles and adults alike. The tube is included and the staff were friendly and clear on rules and guidelines. Please note, there are port a potty's ...ewww, I know! But these were clean at 9am. You'll need to change in your car or come dressed for the weather. The tube hill is a hike, so be warned you'll get your exercise. I wish my snow boots had a bit more traction, but I made it up and down about 5 times (taking a few potty breaks). There's a magic carpet, but the lines will be long and the carpet is slow for safety. There was plenty of parking and the roads were clear in the early AM. Can't wait to go again before the season ends!

After Snoqualmie Falls, Franklin was a little underwhelming. It is an easy hike as it is mostly flat. The waterfall is nice, but nothing compares to Snoqualmie.

I typically stick with hikes that are considered "easy", popular with families, and don't require hiking boots. This one fits the bill. At about 2 miles roundtrip (out and back), the trail is made up of well-kept dirt pathways and you'll experience a gradual incline of only about 400 feet. There were several short sets of wooden steps along the way, which were pretty easy to navigate since they were of even height and not too tall. Just be careful towards the end while heading down to the base of the falls. You'll go down a set of stone steps, then the pathway narrows and becomes pretty rocky with a jagged surface, so watch your footing and take it slow. You can also hang on to the rock wall on the right side for balance. I saw some people equipped with their hiking poles and hiking boots which would come in handy for this small section of the hike, however I was able to traverse it with my running shoes, taking small steps. I was grateful there weren't many bugs and the hike is mostly shaded by all the trees above. It was over 80 degrees on the day we went, but it felt like the 70s since we were never really in direct sun. The trail runs parallel to Denny Creek below, so for the duration of the hike, you can hear the tranquil sound of the flowing water. There are two sections of parking which cost $5 per day, unless you have the "Washington Forest Pass" or "America the Beautiful Pass". Toilets are located near the parking lots, but there are no sinks, so make sure to bring some hand sanitizer. During the summer, weekends can be pretty crowded, so I recommend going on a weekday for a more relaxed atmosphere. We went on a sunny Monday and there was plenty of parking left even when we headed out around noon.

You have to walk a quarter mile back to the lobby to let your dog out through the lobby in the middle of the night (or anytime your dog needs walked). This makes absolutely no sense. We arrived for our stay on a Sunday night. Just a couple of cars in the lot. Entered, rang the bell, greeted by one guy from the restaurant who told us someone would be out to check us in in 2 or 3 minutes. Someone came pretty quickly but it took him sooo long to tap tap tap on 2 different computers to get us checked in. Took 10 minutes to get our key, which was presented in dirty, previously used envelope with other numbers scribbled out. We were very thankful there wasn't a line at checkin. Oddly enough, after going to our truck to get our things and reentering, the desk clerk was scurrying down the hall in front of us, keyed into a room briefly, then came back down the hall toward us. We realized he had gone into our room then exited. Not sure why, but unsettling. Again, this is a dead Sunday night and we made the reservation 3 days ago... For $170 on a Sunday night ($129, plus pet fee $25 plus tax) we feel scammed paying this amount for this rundown place. The hotel is in need of lots of TLC. The bathroom sink hot water doesn't work. We're still waiting for the room to warm up. My husband shoved the bath mat and a towel in the big gap that the taped up, makeshift window/floor A/C unit going out the window creates. Take away - if you don't need to stay at the summit, don't stay here. It's gross, unkempt, and unloved. Edit - it's morning and our room never got warm. The heat doesn't work. We ate at Commonwealth across the street. Great food and service.

The inn is pet friendly with rooms on the first floor. I found that strange since the hallway only has one exit and we were at the end. The room was spacious but the bed was not comfortable. My fur-pet deserved a better room. There was pet hair all over the room and my guy doesn't shred. All pets aren't the same! All pet owners aren't the same! Having certain rooms set aside should depend on the size and breed of the animal. Over all it was an experience and a lesson on how to plan lodging if we return.

We read the reviews online and called them to book our adventure. We were treated with kindness and respect from the time that we got there. We signed the requisite waivers and were told that the rapids head tamed down to class three which was very manageable and safe for the family. They outfit you with wet suits and boots and it's suggested that you bring your own hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. Our guy took the time to get to know all the folks that were in our group and arranged us in the raft, according to our age and abilities. My son and his friend sat towards the back of the raft, which turned out to be the safest and driest location. After a short walk-through of expectations and paddling instruction, we got underway. Smooth sailing for the 1st mile or so, and then we hit our first group of rapids. The guy did an outstanding job of keeping us afloat and telling us which side to paddle aggressively, and which side to back off on. Throughout the day, this continued and we hit several more aggressive rapids that were challenging, but a lot of fun. Photographers are located throughout the course and will get some great pictures of your group as you head down the river. They are available for purchase at the end.
