Fantastic place for a supper club style meal. I enjoyed the tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection. I may have enjoyed a few brandy old fashioneds too! Highly recommend and will enjoy again! read more

Despite all the protestations on the website about COVID safety: this business is unsafe. we made dinner reservations but left because the restaurant and bar area were wall to wall with customers, most without masks; no social distancing, no precautions against infection at all. the seating delay exceeded an hour; delayed customers were crowding the bar area elbow to elbow. the proprietor seemed to only care about booking the maximum number of people and jamming them in for maximum revenue generation- hang the consequences to everyones health! we counted the cars in the full parking lot; assuming an average of 3 people per vehicle, there must have been 400 people crowded into the place. we don't plan to go back read more

Love the bar/lounge area! We like to stop here for an after dinner liqueur or ice cream drink. Bartenders are excellent! read more

We came here with very low expectations seeing the outside and were simply blown away by the food. Right from the soups to the food, we were super impressed. The desserts were brilliant too read more

A slightly more formal atmosphere than other places. Great menu with lots of options. Everything from our drinks and appetizers to entrees and dessert were fabulous. Our server was attentive and professional. Very efficient. We had a highly enjoyable meal and would gladly return. read more

Wonderful food and wonderful service. Erica made my 50th birthday one to remember. I would definitely recommend this lovely establishment to anyone visiting Door County. read more

Fantastic!! One of the best meals I have ever had. I had the Seafood Vol-Au-Vent. Tons of seafood in it. To top it off my husband had a Brandy Alexander and it was delicious. Highly recommend this place!! read more

We had a wonderful experience at Alexander's. The service was efficient, helpful, and very friendly. We were seated at a table with a beautiful view of the garden. And of course the food was outstanding - all of our courses from appetizers to desserts (even the bread was delicious!). We could not recommend Alexander's more! read more

We were not very hungry but we stopped into this place. I had the chocolate peanut butter martini made by our wonderful bartender Claudia. I also had the soup of the day -a lobster tomato bisque and had the absolute shrimp for appetizer. My wife had the house salad. All was great. I would be back. The folks good next to us all looked good and they seemed to enjoy it- lamb chop, pork chop, a salmon and more. The owner was hanging and helping T the bar and was very nice. read more

Could not say anything negative about this place. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. We got the crab cakes appetizer, which were great. Side soups were beef barley and a seafood chowder. Both were great. For entrees, we had the scallops and the beef tenderloin. Both were amazing! To round out our visit we finished with a slice of the carrot cake. Very good. Sweet, moist and enough for the both of us. Oh, and the old fashioned was good, as well. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone. read more

Amazing seafood, great martinis and good drink list. Cesar salad was huge and tasty. The veggies that accompany the food are really really good. Atmosphere is homey and romantic. Only complaint would be that I left a voicemail for reservations around 2pm on Saturday. I never got a call back, so I figured the time wasn't a problem. When we got there, she informed me that they've been booked up for about 48 hours. Wish I would've gotten that call...but either way, we were able to snag a bar spot and ate at the bar which was fine. The bartender was super friendly and we met some nice people around us to chat with. read more

This year, my family decided not to exchange gifts for Christmas, but rather go on a "family mini-vacation weekend". So we headed up to Door County, WI. We stayed at a Eagle Harbor Inn in Ephraim, WI. (see other review) Anyways...The next morning we enjoyed Sunday brunch down the road, in the next town over (Fish Creek) at "Alexander's" Very yummy! Reasonably priced at 14.95 a person, especially considering the offerings; Seafood Newburg, Salmon with crab hollandaise, Swedish Meatballs, strawberry/blue cheese salad, Eggs Benedict, omelettes to order, mimosas, etc. Atmosphere was great and the service was exceptional. A cute, unique, little welcome was the "Snow-dog" standing on the roof looking at us when we entered. For anybody who knows Door County, they've heard about "the goats on the roof" of certain Scandinavian restaurants. So our "maitre-d" was a new twist on the "tourist goats". I t turns out that he was the owner's dog who loves playing on the roof especially in the snow. We can't wait to return here to try the dinner menu. read more

COVID-19 anyone? Come to Alexander's where the tables are packed tightly together and that "mask suggestion" is ignored by most of the guests. The lonely bottle of hand sanitizer at the entrance should be first clue. When we made reservations we were assured of lower capacity, social distancing, etc. The hostess told us that there were so many people because if they followed guidelines they would lose money. Will never know about the quality of food. Covid is on fire in Wisconsin. At least for the schmucks that contract covid here, one of their last meals will be tasty. read more

I went to Alexander's in the fall by myself. I arrived at 7:50 as the website mentions the last party is seated at 8:30. I went to the host's stand and was not greeted at all by a stocky man with a mask below his mouth. He wagged a finger at me and told me there were no tables available despite me seeing multiple tables open and readily available. I asked him if he wanted to serve me. He replied he would ask the kitchen. Finally he agreed to seat me. I was in and out before most of the other tables. I'm disappointed in Alexander's for this type of host as the wait service was great and the food was good, however I felt awkward eating here as I felt unwelcome. read more

Let's start here. We called the day before our reservation to ask for a glass of champagne to celebrate a Bachelorette party. The host rudely stated that there is no possible way that they can do it. When we check in to our reservation, the same host was very rude upon our arrival. He made the experience less than pleasurable. Our reservation was at 7:15 and we were not seated till 7:30. Let's talk about the best of the experience. CLAUDIA!! The best server ever. The food was slightly below average and don't get me started on the daily special. Ala Oscar.... More like ala WHERE?!? About a dime sized amount. The The end. read more

Absolutely delicious fine dining! Head Chef and owner Bruce is wonderful and fabulous. Probably my favorite choice in all of Door County. I have been vacationing &/ or a summer resident since the 70's. read more

YUP - this place is the real deal and is a MUST if you are visiting door county. Reservation are required but it is 100% worth the effort calling them 5 times to get through their busy phone line in the peak of DC summer to get a reservation! We got lucky and must have had one of the last reservations for the evening so we were arriving as the crowds started leaving. On first impressions, it felt like the AC was either not working very well or was strained by a hot, humid DC evening with a full house and bar and the place feels a little date BUT I PROMISE YOU, that is where the bad news ends. We had a fantastic meal. I am a sucker for a good rack of lamb, if it is available wherever we stop along our travels, I have to order it. Knowing how much of a treat lamb is in the USA, I have come to expect only receiving 2, maybe 3 lamb medallions at fine dining establishments but not at Alexander's. I sh*t you not they gave me AN ENTIRE RACK OF LAMB. To my surprise, my mouths delight and the the disgust of my bloated stomach upon exit, it was delicious. All of our dishes were perfect. The absolute icing on the cake however was the service. Every single staff member at Alexander's were just perfect. I observed the wait staff, the buss boys, the table clearers, every single one of them had their eyes focused on every single table they walked past, offering to clear a empty plate within seconds or refill your water/drink right away. Regardless of which table they were 'assigned' to, every single staff member was assisting every single table and it was am absolute joy to watch and experience, great job! I highly recommend and I can only hope that Alexander's can keep up the good work so when we return some day we can relive our great experience. read more

Absolutely delicious. I ordered chicken Alexander in the bar area. The bartenders were wonderful and the food exceeded that! One of the best meals I've had...ever. read more

In a generally quiet time in late December, Alexander's was very crowded. The local residents know this is where to come for a good upscale experience. Reservation a must! We were at Alexander's for a special night out. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. We had duck and the tenderloin ala oscar. Everything was prepared to perfection. It's been a long time since we got to dine in at a nice restaurant, which is our favorite thing to do. Because of covid, we had to bring our toddler with us. Thankfully he was on his best behavior and we got to enjoy an AMAZING special scallop appetizer. Get it! Our entrees were stuffed pork chops and bbq salmon. Both were excellent, salads were delicious.l, we couldn't finish it all. Our little had plenty and it was great too. So good! read more

The food here is amazing and full of flavor. The presentation of the food was great but the flavor was incredible. We came in for New Years and will definitely be back when we come in the summer. Our server was also very nice and knew the menu. We had to make a reservation because of the night and we sat down right away. I ordered the wild salmon with large scallops and my fiancé ordered the filet. Both were awesome and super filling. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée and flourless chocolate cake. My mouth is watering as I am writing this. Happy new year! read more

The food was mediocre at best in comparison to the price, with heavy use of butter and salt to cover up otherwise flavor-lacking entree dishes. The one meal that I found worth the price was the Cherry BBQ Salmon, which offered a uniquely "Door County" take on a simple salmon dish. The drinks are underwhelming too; I paid $8 for Old Fashioned-flavored soda and vodka. I will say, though, they are generous with the booze, so if that's your only concern, you're in luck. Also, regarding social distancing in the restaurant... there is none. However, the interior otherwise offered some decent ambiance. read more

We decided to try Alexanders from driving past it all of the time. Every time we would drive past the place was always packed! Well this time I wanted to be one of those people! We found a parking spot way in the back and made our way to the door. We walked in and it was very mystical and cozy. I asked the host if I could get a table for two, and he sort of looked at me, reservation? Uhh, no we don't unfortunately. But he was able to get us in right away in a secluded table in back. We were like yes! We sat down and skimmed over the menu to see that there were some very good choices on it. We decided to start out with Bruce's Crostini Bread, I must say, YOU MUST ORDER THIS! WOW! It's french bread filled with herb butter blended with gorgonzola, bleu, parmesan and romano cheeses, then baked to a golden brown. You will not be disappointed! We also tried the clam chowder soup and the Shrimp Tempura, which was shrimp dredged in a light tempura batter, then deep fried to a golden brown and served with sweet hot mustard sauce.... also very good! For our entree we had a filet medium with au gratin potatoes which came with a house salad. That was also very awesome! Our waitress was always there to ask if we needed anything and the there was a young lady always there to fill your water glass. We will definitely go back here, it was an amazing experience. But take note: make reservations as one may not be as lucky as we were to get in. :) read more

Great place for a nice meal. Prices are a little elevated given the atmosphere, but the service was great. I had the hazelnut crusted halibut which was on special. My wife had a filet. Both were cooked well and arrived promptly. Our server Mark was curious and prompt with his service. read more

We were going to have an adult night. We chose Alexander's. My daughter was quite hesitant about going there. We had the best meal. I had the shrimp scampi and it was delicious. We have had good experiences before but tonight the New York steak for both my wife and I was hard to cut with huge amounts of gristle and hard to chew. We have vacationed in Door County for many years and always would drive past Alexander's and, always having heard great things about it and that it was Northern Door's premier restaurant, we would say "some year we should try that", and so this year was the year. How very disappointing. I don't know if they take walk-ins but we had made a reservation for 6:30, got there around 6:25, fought our way through the crowd of people at the bar to the hostess stand, gave my name and was told " we will seat you as soon as possible and was handed a beeper". We found two seats at a high top table in the bar area and as soon as you sat on them the seat just gave way under you so we moved to another two seats across from another couple who said they had been there since 6 and were still waiting. After about 20 minutes the beeper went off and we were shown to our table in the lower level. I am trying to find one good thing to say about the decor. The window looked out at a dumpster sitting at the edge of the parking lot. they could easily get a trellis and put it in front of the dumpster to block the view. There was an air vent on the wall directly in front of me which looked like it had not been cleaned in years, I guess staff don't look down when walking towards it. Dead insects at the bottom of the light fixture over our head and a staff members back pack hanging on the wall at the door. The salad to start was mediocre at best. I had the Chicken Alexander and my husband had the Cherry Duck and both dishes arrived with an orchid on the food as "decoration". Really? What is the connection between Door County and Orchids? It was only when we were half way through the meal and the couple we had spoken too about the wait walked by as they were leaving and asked if it was worth the wait. Before we could answer the husband said "oh I had the duck too and asked for extra cherry sauce to help it not be so dry". Both entrees were again average, we certainly have had better duck and chicken. We both ordered dessert, and while waiting I kept looking at pictures scroll on the screen the servers input orders and saw a wonderful looking dessert with a decorated A on it so I was expecting something equally as good. Again, the food arrived and was basic at best. No attempt to wow the guests at all. The prices are not cheap, but we don't mind paying money and having the experience to back it up. The whole experience was severely underwhelming, we won't be back. read more

Our food took 1 and 1/2 hours to get, and when it finally showed up, 2 of the 4 orders were incorrect. The kicker is that the place had few customers and plenty of staff. The locals had a lot of positive things to say about this place, but it was unfortunately a let down. read more

Went here for a bachelorette party with a group of 16! They were so attentive and nice to our group. Waitress was amazing and friendly and we didn't feel like we were a bother. They even did separate checks which we appreciated ! But the food... was probably the best supper club meal I've ever had. I did the salmon ole Oscar and so did many other people.
