I really really wanted to enjoy this place but unfortunately the service fell short. When we came in the bartender came over and half our group ordered drinks while the others were still deciding. The bartender never came back to check in on us again. We sat with our drinks empty on the edge, politely waving to get her attention but she never came back. We visited this restaurant about two years ago and had some of the best sweet potato fries we've ever tasted. Naturally, we had to stop by again on this trip. While we were there, the restaurant next door was hosting a fish boil at 5:30 and 7:30 PM, so we grabbed a seat outside to watch--it was a fun little bonus! The staff at the restaurant were friendly, and we were seated right away without any wait. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger with sweet potato fries. The fries had a nice crisp to them, but they weren't hot enough, which was a bit disappointing--it made me wonder if they weren't freshly cooked. If you're in the Fish Creek area, I'd recommend trying this spot and sitting outside to enjoy the lovely view of the bay. read more

Had a lovely dinner at the very chill and old school Bayside Tavern. I sat at the bar and the staff were extremely attentive. I ordered the Door County Cherry Bomb, which has cherry flavored vodka. It was delish and when in Rome...gotta have everything cherry! I ordered the Rueben with the gluten free bun and upgraded to fries. Everything was delish. My only comment is that the Reuben is served on a paper lined test and I cut up my sandwich which makes it easier to eat but at the same time the paper underneath was getting soggy and ripping and I probably engulfed some paper with my meal. I would prefer a regular plate but I get it's probably easier for the kitchen. Otherwise a great meal and popular spot in Fish Creek. read more

Have to update my review, as I am astonished at yesterdays service. As someone who grew up in door county and often spent time at the fish creek marina, the Bayside has always been one of my all time favorite stops and a must every time I'm up north. However, yesterday when I was bringing friends there for the first time, I could not believe the rude service we received. Literally someone in our group never even was able to order a drink. 4 of us had ordered a drink; and he was still thinking when we did so they said take your time. They never came back to us once. We waved them down, we said excuse me, we were literally invisible to them. I couldn't believe it! One bartender was just standing in the corner on her phone and eating, when we had someone without a drink and two people with empty drink. Now I'm a bartended myself and you'll never find me eating with patrons at the bar and people with empty drinks or no drinks at all. I had planned to stay here for a few hours and drink a couple rounds, but that was nearly impossible. We left immediately and I've never not tipped before but it was truly unbelievable. Went to Hill Street across the street after and thank god we did! The bartender there said he's tried to go to the Bayside on multiple occasions and never had good treatment. Sad to see a place a loved so much become a place that if you aren't a regular you don't exist. read more

Stopped by the Tavern for a lunch during our Door County day. Service was excellent. Spotted Cow draft was nice and cold. My Rueben was good, extra for the onion rings. Her Whitefish was good also, nice portion. A bit expensive for the lunch, but it is in a tourist destination, so no surprise there. We will be back!! read more

This was our second visit to Bayside Tarvern after having a great first experience in 2023 with their sweet potato fries--they were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served piping hot. We decided to stop by again for a quick bite. This time, I ordered the garden vegetable soup, the mushroom Swiss burger (which comes with sweet potato fries with $5 upcharge), and a couple of drinks. We sat outside again like last time--it wasn't too busy, just a few customers around 5:30 pm on a weekday. There was even a fish boil happening across the street at another restaurant, which made for a lively atmosphere. Fish boil is a traditional in Door County. Our waitstaff, Omer, was friendly but not attentive, he didn't ask how we wanted the burger cooked and refilled water. Thankfully, the burger was juicy but a bit greasy too. Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries weren't the same standout as before. This time, they were lukewarm and lacked that crispy texture we loved on our first visit. Maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen, but the fries were a disappointment compared to our initial experience. A new group of customers were waiting for our table while we were wrapping up the last bite. It appeared that they were told by Omer that we are done. It was strange to have 4 pairs of eyes starring at us and one decided to sit down too. We also had to wait for our check and heard the same group of customers complaining that it took so long. Walking into Bayside Tavern feels like stepping back in time. The classic bar food is great (don't skip the cheese curds or fried green beans)... and it's served with a complimentary chip on the shoulder, from the staff. We stopped in for dinner after a long ride to DC. We just wanted something casual and not fussy at all. Bayside tavern fit the bill. Busy, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Dinner was standard pub food, but was great. Service was top notch as well. Would absolutely stop in again the next time we are in Fish Creek. There are also little shop down the alley. My mother said "Hello, can I make a pick up order?" and he replied with, "We're not doing pick up orders, the kitchen is swamped." Then he hung up. No sorry, or goodbye which was just mean. We've been coming here for over 25 years, and keep coming back for the atmosphere, service, and food. On this visit, we bellied up to the bar early afternoon and ordered our drinks and got in our food order. The place was about 2/3 full when we got there, but filled up quickly on a Monday holiday. Not even really sure where to begin. Everything sucked. If the food was fantastic and we were ignored, we'd be okay, however, it wasn't and we were. Everyone was more interested in talking to a guy - I'm assuming he works there but was off duty - instead of customers. Then came the conversation about severed limbs and how Carly "forgot to come to work yesterday" but "got her haircut." The Bayside Coffee staff should give a seminar on customer service to the Bayside Tavern people. The seafood chowder was mid, at best. Food was delish! Highly recommend the chowder. The service turned us off. No greeting when you enter. We stood by the door for a bit. Waitress saw us but turned back around. Hmm. Wonder why. Then, another waitress said we could seat ourselves. Great. Our waitress (long black hair, Eastern European accent) took our order. Not friendly at all. When she was giving us our chowder orders, she made a comment, "It's all cups, guys, and only one bowl," as if annoyed that we were trying to determine whose order was what. Was it because we were tourists or not the kind of clientele she wants? Hmmm. Nevertheless, the food was good, we had a good time, and the place had a neighborhood pub ambiance. There were other restaurants we went to that had friendlier service. Try Della Porta Italian restaurant in Ellison Bay, WI. Delicious/farm-to-table food and desserts and delicious drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). If you get Mary as your server, give her a big tip! She is awesome! We came back the next night just because of her great service (and good food, too!) Also, try Waterfront Restaurant in Water Bay, WI. Having been in other restaurants and Door County, I would say that the owners could make a more concerted effort to keep the fly population lower. while perusing the shops in town we stopped for a late lunch and sat at the bar. Service was excellent and the food was really good. We had a burger and fries, chili and a Reuben with fries. My fries were not hot and I had asked to have hot fries. the waiter put in an order for fresh fries and although I had finished half of my reuben, when the second order came they were worth the wait, hot and crispy. Rueben was excellent, hot, tender meat, and toasted bread. Others liked the chili and hamburger. It is a bar atmosphere but ample seating, with some outdoor seating. We ate here with 4 adults, a 2 YO, and infant on a Saturday evening. We were able to seat ourselves for an early dinner (4:30) no problem. The food was good - think pub food. The kids meal was very large, definitely could be an adult sized meal. The music can be a bit mature for children at times but maybe to be expected in a tavern. I'm not sure I would bring my kids back, but definitely could be a place for families with older children or teenagers. The location is great though. Right on the Main Street in Fish Creek. Let me start by saying the food was really good! We shared the jalapeño poppers and then got a burger and a chicken sandwich. The food was awesome. The service, though, was really disappointing. We had been recommended to stop by here on our annual Door County trip, and the service will be why we won't return in the future. They were not busy, as the lunch rush had clearly just ended. There were four bartenders working, none of which smiled or really interacted with anyone except themselves. In the 45 minutes we were there, we watched them ignore their guests, pour shots for themselves, and text on their phones. We were looking forward to staying for a couple cocktails and chatting with the bartenders about their recommendations, but we promptly left after finishing our food (and it taking several minutes of the bartenders chatting and texting before even recognizing that our drinks and plates were empty). Very disappointing. Won't be returning. We'd rather go somewhere we'll find more of the friendliness Wisconsin bars are supposed to pride themselves in. read more
