My wife and I are torn on this review. We have been twice and the first time we had a good experience and this past Thursday we popped in and were disappointed. Tracy, our server, was great and service is always good. The issue was that the Walleye Pike was extremely "fishy" and tasted "old". I get it, fish is fish and should taste "fishy", but walleye pike is a whitefish that we have had hundreds of times. This was so strong that we couldn't get through two bites. Then we re-ordered another whitefish that tasted exactly the same. Bummer... I won't drag this review on, but you get the point. Kind of ruined our evening out. To top it off, we were charged for it even though it clearly was "no good". Odd... Now lets talk about something good. I had the Salmon a few Friday nights ago and it was outstanding. Loved it. Ending on a good note is appropriate, but fix the fish... read more

We came here with other family members for their all you can eat Thanksgiving dinner. We made reservations, so we were seated right away after arriving. We were seated for a good five minutes before our waiter came by to take our drink order. He came back with the drinks, took our order for appetizer and main course. We received our appetizer rather quickly after ordering. I had the thai chili shrimp. It was served in a chilled martini glass with lettuce, four huge pieces of shrimp, and tangy sauce. Our salads arrived shortly after the appetizers. Salad was o.k. Typical before dinner salad. Our main course arrived, it was your average turkey day food. Nothing spectacular, although their mashed potatoes were awesome. The decor is classy, and you need to be well-dressed if you are going to eat there. I gave it a four, because our waiter Romeo, was great, very attentive, always checking in on us. Overall a good experience. read more

We stopped in Alexander's based on a recommendation from our hotel concierge, who said it was "the best around." We hadn't made a reservation and was honestly not expecting to be seated. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and had had a horrible experience the night before at a hotel who had lost our reservation causing us to drive an additional 200 miles on unfamiliar roads in the pitch black of night. For real, we were totally expecting not to be seated. When we walked in we were told they were booked (no surprise this is a crazy popular place), didn't really want to celebrate at a hi-top at the bar, & just wanted to know if they could recommend another place for dinner. What we didn't expect was for them to seat us. Wow, we were blown over! Not only by their generosity in seating us when they were packed but by the superb service and food. Thank you Alexanders from the bottom of our hearts! read more

I am giving you a 5. And that is not easily earned from a reviewer like me. To begin my evening, I had a glass of your house chardonnay. It was crisp, clean and easy on the palette. Normally when I get the "house" wine, I expect something decent but not great. This was not a disappointment. I can not spell the name but their house wines are from Chile. Nice touch, Alexander's. A couple of people from my party order appetizers. The King Crab Cakes and the Crostini Bread. The crab cake appetizer is really for one person. It came with two cakes smothered in hollandaise sauce which were accompanied with a small salad. The crostini bread is made for a few people to share, but you will not want to. The seasoned breach is stuffed with hot, stringy cheese. Amazing. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we did not get seated until nearly 7:00. Apologetic, they gave our entire party of 16 complimentary bread. Our drink orders were taken quick, menus were provided and specials were given promptly. Honestly, that was our only issue all night. They rectified it and moved on. I ordered the Pork Chop a la Chloe. It was a large chop stuffed with prosciutto ham, fontina and fontinella cheeses. It has a white wine, mushroom sauce to compliment it. It was served with green beans and seasoned and sliced potatoes. The entire meal was well connected. While the inside of the pork shop was a bit salty, it countered the mild potatoes. I noshed a bit on my husband's steak. He ordered the 18 oz. Filet Mignon which came with the garlic Gorgonzola butter. You can never go wrong with this butter. I thought the table butter was nice, creamy and easily spreadable. However, the butter/cheese concoction which came with the steak was hands down amazing. Our dessert was brought with us for the occasion. However, they nicely sliced and served it. I wish I could have tried their desserts. The other meals at my table looked amazing. I wanted to try their ravioli, their pasts, their chicken....but sadly I had but one meal. The price is pretty high. It is $25-30 per dinner. However, I stand by the statement: you get what you pay for. Maybe this is not a place to hit up everyday but it is definitely worth a go-around. If you have kids, amazing this place has decent options for them. There is a steak and pasta option. There is also typical child-fare options available (nuggets and so forth). Now service did go up and down but overall, your food saved any blips in service. read more

While the food is excellent, I seriously question their social distancing practices and I was uncomfortable eating there. They seat people in tables right next to each other not following 6 feet distancing rules. The host tried to seat us squeezed in between 2 other tables, and when I mentioned that is not social distancing he got snooty and said sit where you want then. I noticed others being sat after us with the same concerns and the same lack of caring from the host. We were going to go to Alexanders again during our stay in Door County, but now that I see their lack of social distancing I will take our business elsewhere that cares about their diners. read more

Been here 4 times all have been great My only issue is I wish they would change up the menu every once in a while. Great bar and bartenders pour a nice drink have nice selection of beers on tap. Food wise they had a nice assortment of thing dishes to choose from tonight I had the NY Strip. Jim had pork chop aupoive . My steak was excellent always come with veg of the day and scallop potatoes. Which were ok not great. Salad o had a Caesar which was good . Great service constantly refilling waters and clearing dirty items from the tables . I defiantly recommend trying if you haven't. They also have s Thai shrimp app which is excellent read more

Went here with a group of friends, mid-summer on a Friday night. Considering the reputation and expectations associated with an interesting menu, I think we all came away disappointed. For starters, the A/C seemed to be broken in the main dining room (local units, not central) and when we inquired were told it wasn't working but no offer to re-seat was forthcoming. Service was so-so; our waiter (Mark #25) was sparse on menu details. He did suggest a special appetizer, described as "bruschetta with goat cheese and stuff", which we ordered . When it arrived, he now stated it was cream cheese, which indeed it was (or mostly was; a little hard to tell since it was so warm as to be melting). The crostini it came with was so thin and dry that it broke into crumbs as soon as you tried to spread the cheese on top. Good idea, poorly executed. Three of us ordered fish entrees one fried, two grilled, all were overcooked. Each entree came with a scoop of skin-on mashed potatoes that had a strange gummy texture and odd flavors; we suspected cheese had been added but would never know since our waiter was reticent to share those kind of details about the food he was serving.... I'm sure the cocktails are good, but better food choices are to be had in the Door, even in Fish Crick. read more

Wow !!!! This restaurant delivered !!! Home run !!!! Excellent food can't miss !!!! Had the stuffed shrimp and the 10oz filet again wow 5 stars !!!! Had the crab cakes and tempura shrimp for our appetizers again wow !!! Will definitely be back !!! read more

My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by spending a long weekend in Door Co. After reading the reviews we decided to have dinner at Alexander's. We were not disappointed. I had the shrimp and salmon bisque with the nightly special of sea bass and scallops over asparagus. My hubby had the deep fried lake perch. Our meals were both amazing. For dessert we chose to have ice cream drinks and they were delicious. The service was incredible. It made for a very memorable anniversary dinner. read more

BRIDES BEWARE! This review is for the catering service. Me and several members of my family, my fiancé's family, and my wedding planner tried for the better part of a YEAR, if not more, to get ahold of Kevin Free regarding catering our wedding. Our website inquiries went unanswered, and when we would phone they would tell us he would contact us, but he never did. Finally, I told a staff member that I had been trying to contact him for 5 months, and was finally given his cell phone number. He finally emailed me saying he would be in touch soon. It never happened. I contacted him yet again to touch base and was told they now all ready had an event that week and would not be accommodating another. My experience with them was the most unprofessional and frustrating of any experience I have EVER had catering an event. Kevin ignored at least four people for months about this event. I am completely shocked that Northern Haus still lists them as a preferred vendor, as it does not reflect well on them at all. It was a huge waste of time and left us scrambling to find an alternative. We instead found one that isn't what I wanted for our wedding due to the fact that we were brushed off for so long. My wedding planner tried to touch base after we got the news and still has yet to reach him. read more

Never disappoints. We have had dinner every time we are here. I had the duck this time and if you like duck get it. I always end dinner with a wonderful Brandy Alexander. My husband had the white fish and he was very happy. Everything we had for the past years have been amazing, try it!!! Oooo the lemon cello martinis can't be better. read more

Went here fir my husbands birthday. Had a reservation. Everyone here is polite and seem sincerely to see us. We had a great window seat and the meal was fantastic. Husband had a salad and steak with bernais sauce and said it was the best meal he has had since we have been in Ephraim. I had a fish dish with shrimp, scallops and crab claws with lobster sauce - it was fantastic!! We also ordered one chocolate cake for dessert. Outstanding. Also my cocktail was well done. A Manhattan. We have recommended this restaurant to people we met during our stay. Fantastic place. read more

My wife had the Chipino and I had the Pork Chop Ala Chloe. FANTASTIC! Amazing food, pricey however well worth your hard earned dollar. Grasshoppers to finish up. Highly recommend Alexander's to anyone looking for flavorful food and a menu that has everything covered. Enjoy! read more

Alexander's - Rock I' it with my bride! No kids for the weekend! - Seafood Near Me - Fish Creek, Wisconsin

Stopped by for a drink. I agree with William's review. NO social distancing. The bar area was packed with no room between the bar stools. We were able to stand in a corner with our drinks to stay distant. We did not stay to eat. read more

Romeo was a great waiter and an adorable addition to our meal. Party of 5; butternut squash soup- best I've ever had deep base flavors, creamy with fatty cream and not sweet but perfectly seasoned savory. Filet- ok times three, potatoes at gratin excellent steaks were a little over medium and not quite as juicy as what I can cook at home. Steak, excellent and ravioli - selicious, well cooked, well seasoned, delighted the pickiest eater. read more

Sunday brunch is the way to go! First time to Alexander's, and we got the suggestion to come from one of the local wineries. Quick and courteous service, delicious and fresh food, attentive staff, and pleasant atmosphere. They even accommodated with a gluten free dessert for one of my friends as a courtesy! Anyone visiting Door County should stop by and check it out. Highly recommend the lobster gumbo, but nothing on the menu will disappoint. Not to mention what you get for what you pay is amazing! Such a reasonable price for the quality and quantity that you get. You cannot beat the deal. Overall it was a great experience, and will definitely be on the list of places to come back to on future visits to the area. read more

The last time I was here was in the seventies and I spent my time at the bar.... We usually go to the English Inn when we visit northern Door County but decided to give Alexander's a try this trip. I had the Pork Chop ala Chloe and my wife had the Salmon ala Oscar. The food was very good and the twin cheese and prosciutto hiding in the chop were a delight. The ambiance however is more suited to larger groups and I am very glad I chose to sit next to my wife instead of across from her as I would have had a hard time hearing her otherwise. I would return if I were part of a group, but for the two of us I will continue to visit the English Inn. read more

Came here with friends tonight and truly enjoyed the meal! Strong drinks, great food (I had the filet oscar-style) and clam chowder soup and it was absolutely delicious. Would recommend it. The bacon-wrapped scallops special app was delicious, however it varied to how it was explained (we were told it had goat cheese/cherries stuffed within) and the waiter felt it necessary to tell us we were wrong and although we had a few great martinis we believe we would have noticed cheese-stuffing in the scallops. Then someone at my table ordered a dirty martini and he brought up the lack of dirtiness within it the waiter who then came by with the olive tray from the bar, used his bare hands, and strained some olive juice right into his drink - right at the table, sort of rude! Food reigned though and it was a good meal. would come back again and just would hope for a new waiter! read more

Website states that due to covid there would be outdoor seating available. We made a reservation and asked for it to be outside. The person who took our reservation said they had seating available on the patio. We get to the restaurant and there is no outdoor seating and their "patio" is inside the restaurant and fully enclosed. I asked to be seated away from other costumers which they were happy to accommodate, however it was definitely not what they advertised. So if you are looking for a restaurant to enjoy and be able to socially distance maybe not your best option. Food wise it was tasty- house salad was lackluster but dinner entree itself was good. read more

Yummy dinner tonight. We ordered the special lamb chops and the halibut. The lamb was amazing... What...did I say amazing. Husband said it was the best lamb he has had in a long time. The halibut was good, topped with asparagus and goat cheese. Goat cheese was not needed but the tobacco onion rings made it worth while Our server was great. Of course it was not overly busy but you could tell the servers are well trainer. Great drinks and well appointed wine list. We are going back again soon. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Door County! The filet was phenomenal and the Blueberry Vodka and lemonade drink was probably the best drink I have ever had! And the dessert was the perfect way to finish the night(: The service was really good the staff brought out dessert for my grandmas birthday and sang for her. So nice! read more

Unbelievably diverse menu. Took me 30 minutes to decide what to order. Superb food and service, and I'm picky. Also, very very reasonably priced for what you get. The Alexander salad is great, so is the seafood in puff pastry. Our tables steaks were perfect, the bass and scallops was wonderful. And a great bar is also reasonably priced. Can't recommend this place too highly. Will definitely return! read more

Alexander's is a great location for a nice dinner. We always visit at least once when we come up to Door County. I usually get the filet mignon or the chicken ravioli with vodka sauce. Both are very good. I've also tried the penne which is very good as well. For drinks I recommend the Door County Cherry Martini! read more

Ate here for a bday dinner last Thursday. Had (indoor) patio seating w-"Claudia". Service was quick and super friendly. Had the snails, stuffed pork chop and would absolutely order that again. Yummmm. Very reasonably priced bottle of red Gott. House salad (or soup) before entree. We were stuffed. The bar area is also nice to have a drink at before or after a meal. Tons of parking. read more

The best dining experience I've had in a long time. Had escargot served with sautéed mushrooms, followed up with a rare tenderloin Oscar style, which was the Saturday special. Could have used some more hollandaise sauce, but delicious all the same. The cabranet Sauvignon was a perfect pairing, with a brandy older fashioned for desert. Service was impeccable. Well worth the price. You can tell a good dining experience by the volume of the customers, all were enjoying the experience thoroughly. read more

Looking for an old style Sunday (buffet) Brunch and was told Alexander's. Made reservations. Was told the price was $17 per person. That seemed pretty reasonable. Well what they don't tell you is that does not include coffee or mimosa refills. Food was really good. Plenty of servers to clear plates refill coffee/water (never refilled OJ, that would probably be extra too). Mimosas were 95% OJ. Why not just charge $20 per person to include all drinks. Scenery was nice looking out onto the back lawn and woods. read more

I have been to this establishment 3 times. The first two experiences were great. However the last one really was not. The food was not all the good. They had smaller portions, which after COVID I know happened almost everywhere, but they also jacked up their pricing for said smaller portions. The worst part of the experience was management. I went to the restroom, and one of the employees walked out of the stall, and right out to the dinning room floor. I washed my hands and followed him out. I went straight the manager and let her know. She apologized and then spoke with him. Later on she decided to come to me at the table in front of my family and tell me I was wrong and that her employee did in fact wash his hands. Except he didn't. I heard him flush, latch his belt, and he walked straight out without washing his hands. The place has gone down hill over the past few years unfortunately, and they will no longer get my business. I will also make sure everyone I know is made aware of this too. read more

I cannot say enough about the amazing service here!! We've been to door county three times now and this is our new favorite spot! We went on Wed night. Place is nice looking but food is just so-so. My wife had crab cakes which she said were good. I hate the tenderloin. Ordered it medium well and it came rare. I sent it back and it came back in less than 2 minutes- had to be microwaved as it was so hot and came back so quick. This place is supposedly known for its steak so how do they not know how to cook one properly.? The tenderloin was nothing to write home about and the potatoes were bland and tasteless. I can not recommend this place. read more
