This store is awful, you have to pay a quarter to get a cart. I was here 30 minutes to closing time and several employees rudely walked by to tell me the minute countdown until they locked the doors. That's fine, I get it, they want to go home. But how about ask if I need help to find an item to expedite my shopping. By the time I loaded my groceries in my car, walked the cart back to get my quarter, the store had closed and the cart would not not align for me to get my quarter back. I knocked on the window to the employees inside, that I needed assistance with my cart, but they completely ignored me. There is no sense of customer service here. Although the sum may be inconsequential, I feel like I was just hustled for a damn quarter by this store. It is just sad that a grocery chain has to be that chintzy. read more

I dig Aldi's. It's not your regular grocery store. It's not Sprouts. It's not Trader Joe's. They do things differently here. You can rent a cart for a qurater. You get the quarter back when you return it to the caddy. Don't wander too far from your cart if you don't have much in it. I had a cheap bastaard snatch my cart. They were kind enough to dump my reuseable bags on a shelf instead of stealing them. I like the imported products. Sure I've never heard of most of the brands. That's how they keep costs down. The german pastries and baked goods are cool, as is their cheese section. Produce can be a great deal or not, depending on the item. Their tortilla chips are very good. The checkout goes quickly. I had 15 items once and the cashier had scanned everything faster than I could pull my credit card out of my wallet. I'm used to bagging groceries, so the bag it yourself was not out of the ordinary for me. The store was spotless. Almost sterile. If I'm near an Aldi's or I need one or two thing, I'll stop by for giggles and random items of food. Let me just start by saying... $2.95 for a pack of 6 small/medium sized avocados or $0.79 for large ones. I love grocery shopping and do it often, and I can't find them cheaper than this. I used to shop at Costco for groceries, but I've learned my lesson the hard way -- after having thrown out too much rotten fruit/food. I definitely couldn't shop in bulk for groceries, but I still wanted value. Aldi was my answer. The day that my +1 and I decided that we could and would commit to shopping at Aldi for groceries was when we found a Herdez guacamole salsa on the shelf for about $3, and we face palmed thinking about how we had just purchased the very same item for about $6 at Vons just a couple of days before. We were then sold on shopping at Aldi. They have some brands that you can find elsewhere, but they also have a lot of brands you've probably never seen/heard of. But as a loyal Aldi shopper, these brands fill my pantry, and I've been more than happy with my purchases. We are also regulars around the meat section in the back where you can get seasoned taco meat in particular. Taco Tuesdays, anyone? I love the weekly grocery deals and am always excited to come back for more! Customer service could be better, as in, they could be more present. I usually spot two workers in the store - one on the floors shelving and one at the register. It's usually not a problem for me. When the line gets long, the cashier calls for another staff member, and that resolves the long line fairly quickly. The staff are friendly, quick, and efficient. Additionally, I know there are a lot of reviews complaining about the unusual quarter for a cart system (where you have to deposit 25 cents to use a shopping cart) because it's not the most time-efficient (and I know because I would rather walk around the store carrying a bunch of stuff in my arms than to stop and get a cart), but it's very cost-efficient for them. I think it's rather smart on Aldi's part for cart maintenance, upkeep, and, quite frankly, to simply avoid cart theft. Who can blame them? If shoppers stole the carts, guess who's paying for them. We will -- in grocery prices. So deposit a quarter for a cart, return it to get your quarter back, or just bring in a shopping bag. read more

The only grocery store I'm excited to go to. I wouldn't consider this a one-stop-shop but you can find me here weekly for their deals on fruit and cheap prices on everything else. They sell the cheapest avocados and bananas in the area and sometimes surprise you with super good deals on mangoes and strawberries. Eggs are occassionally only $0.99 a dozen. I usually come here for things that my family doesn't need in Costco-sized bulk and that I know are cheaper here than at supermakets. I've been looking for all-purpose flour for nearly a month due to the baking craze during this quarantine and was SO HAPPY to have found it here today. They also sell random household appliances and gardening supplies to save you a trip to Walmart/Target and give you more instant gratification than from ordering online. Love this place. It's clean and organized. The team members are friendly and helpful. The prices are very competitive. You can always find some random item (yoga pants, baby supplies, housewares, even tools) at a really good deal. The carry mostly in house brands like Trader Joe's (they are related) but also have a few brand name items. Some items I always get here: chips, nuts/trail mix, cheese, almond milk, cereal and specialty chocolate. This place is surprisingly paired down. They do have really cheap prices and you can feel it when you walk in the door. Everything is still in their boxes for shelving and they have a discount section that apparently changes every week with a different theme. They are first come first serve limited items. This week its camping and outdoor stuff. They really are at a good deal and pretty interesting useful things. I am a bit skeptical at the quality but you are probably getting what you pay for. So if you want cheap and you just need to use an item and you don't care how long it lasts or what or where its made, then its a good idea to come here and see if they have it in their daily deals. Aldi is a German grocery chain who has open a lot of store in the U.S. Majority were in the east-coast, just recently open stores in SoCal. They actually own trader-joe. They share some similar concert. Focus in quality not quantity selection. The store isn't big but has a lot of stuff you need and were mostly house brand, but price is notice cheaper than major brand. Quality is quite good and definite better than some brand name. They had slight more europe import cookies and chocolate bar that you don't find in most grocery. This store is quite spacious, they charge 25 cents to use their cart, but you can back the money after you return. But the easiest way just bring your own bag if you not buying a lot of stuff. If you want something different in shopping experience and like Trader-Joes, this is definite worth to check it out ! read more

Aldi has the freshest fruits and vegetables at the best prices. The milk is also very fresh with good prices. The only problem here is no one ever knows where to line up. Sometimes there is one big line and sometimes there a few lines. I don't really want to jump ahead of people so usually I stay with the big line but I think you can just line up at each respective register. The checkers are super fast here. So, even if the lines are long, you will fly through quite quickly. read more

Extremely rude service and employees! We are frequent customers and today, we were trying to buy some eggs when one of the employees stops us and accuses us of fishing through the eggs when we were just making sure all the eggs weren't broken. He shouted at us and caused a scene when we could've had a mature conversation about the problem he had with us, but NO he goes on to yell like he's superior. We told him we were not going to buy cracked eggs with our money and he kept thinking he was all high and mighty. The selection is less than costco, the produce is just veggies in their shipping trays dumped into a cold counter. The meats are the same way. want some cereal, they have it, but it may not be a brand you are familiar with. The service on the other hand, well it just doesnt exist. If you want a basket, bring a quarter or two. If you want bags... ohhh wait, we dont get those anymore in the peoples republik of kalifornia, bastards, ... none the less this place is what it is. They have a decent selection of stuff. My first experience was like going in a Trader Joe's, Smart N' Final, Sprout's or Henry's. They had some things there but other stuff I felt wasn't necessary to be there and they were stocking too much of some items and not enough of other things. Anyways just wanted to say I thought that having a cashier sitting down was fine. What I didn't like or appreciate at all was I had to bag my own groceries...!!! I go there to pay for my groceries not bag my own groceries...that's the employees' job and also they should offer to help out with my groceries...!!! Also here's the scenario I want to know, what if it's a elderly person, then are they going to only help with the bagging of groceries or do they not help them either...because it didn't seem like that was the case at all and I was with a person that needed assistance...??!! Now if was at any other store...they always, even some of the time offered to help me. I usually said I was able to handle my own groceries but it's good customer service and the fact that they asked means the world in my book. Actually a few times that I have been at the other grocery stores I would take them up on their offer for them to assist and help me out. However with Aldi they had just about one or two employees for each row or aisle!!! One of those employees could easily have helped with the bagging of my groceries!!! I could tell that they were looking for stuff to do and isn't the CUSTOMER USUALLY RIGHT!!! Apparently only when it's convenient...!!! I've been here a few times since it opened. So far, not too impressed with the selection. This is definitely not the type of market where you can shop for everything you need on your list. The aisles are big and wide but this gives it the feeling of shopping at a warehouse (albeit a small warehouse with small selection). The produce here looks pretty fresh and the prices are decent. Other things like drinks, bagels, etc are about the same price as other markets. Make sure to double check the expiration date! Disclaimer: I do not work for Aldi, I have never even heard of this company before I shopped there. I'm not trying to defend them wholeheartedly, but most of those one star reviews are too harsh and untrue. Please just ignore most of the one star reviews. Two of them were telling people to go across the street to shop at Pavilions? Good luck getting any good deals over there. In my experience, they are similar to Ralph's, another grocery store with overpriced items that I have never shopped at. Correct me if im wrong, but if I remember correctly, I would need a membership card at Pavilions to get those "low" prices? No, thanks, I care about my privacy. There are enough companies selling my info already, I'm not giving another one my info to sell. Review: I won't say all their prices are the cheapest, that's just not realistic. Not even Costco or Walmart or Pavilions (I bring this place up, since some of the reviewers love this place) have all the best prices. But some of the Aldi items are a must buy in here. Tell me where can you get WILD CAUGHT salmon fillets for $7.39 for TWO pounds (even though they are frozen)? Don't tell me Trader Joes because I've been there. You can't get it at this price. This isn't farmed salmon, wild caught salmon usually cost a lot more. Their milk ($2.25 for a gallon) and eggs ($0.99 for a dozen as of this writing) are some of the cheapest in any grocery stores at the moment (eggs in a 99 cents store doesn't count, because they aren't a grocery store). Some of their groceries prices are competitive, I won't say they are the cheapest, because other grocery stores can always get lower prices every other week, so grocery prices are hard to compare. Now, one thing I do agree with other one star reviews are their cart system. I took off one star because of that too. I don't mind pushing the cart back to the store, but don't make me feel like I have to do it to get back the quarter. Then, there's the issue of the cart being too wide, which is true with the door being a little too narrow for this cart (the cart will fit but just barely, me being clumsy, I ended up hitting the glass door for a few times, lol). Some of the reviewers were too harsh saying the cart is too wide and it isn't necessary because there's nothing to buy in Aldi. Just because yu have nothing to buy, don't blame the cart for being too wide, that just ridiculous. Those reviews might as well stick with overpriced grocery chains. Finally an Aldi in California. I'm from Chicago and we grew up on this store. My pockets thank you for your prices. The store is very clean. It wasn't crowded at all when I went. I may have to check out the lines on a weekend. I remember the lines being very long in Chicago. The products are great. This stupid store always sets quantity limits way below the advertised limits. For example, eggs are advertised as limit 6. This Arcadia store sets the limit at 1. You come into the store, and you are limited to one fuggin dozen of eggs, and that's with 4 carts of eggs behind the front cart, each holding 500 cartons, for a total of 2000+ cartons of eggs. That many eggs, on a late sunday afternoon, with the sale ending in 2 days, and they still limit to 1. They can't sell them all. read more

Came here on their grand opening and they were giving out free shopping bags! These bags were made of used water bottles but super sturdy ! Loved them !!! I had high hopes for this place since I had visited this market in Sydney, Australia and thought it was a pretty good deal. This location... Shared w the cvs and other restaurants ( ramen place and half & half ) so the parking lot was packed !!! I wonder how it will be later ... Hopefully it won't be too bad. Love this market! Whenever I'm around Arcadia, I will usually try and stop by Aldi. Think of it as a lower priced grocery store that carries a lot of their own branded products. This place is awesome because you still get QUALITY even though the prices are low. Selection of fresh veggies, fruits, meat, and even some packaged seafood. Store is generally pretty organized and the staff is very friendly. Don't forget to put in a quarter to be able to make use of the cart. If you take it back, you actually get your quarter back! They also sell random stuff like lawn chairs, outdoor stuff, detergents and such. What a great store concept. It mostly carries just the basics, but then, that's just about all I ever need. The produce selection is touch and go. They have a few organic produce items, but the selection is thin, and not competitively priced. I've spotted mouldy produce a few times, but that won't keep me away. I also like the fact that the organic products are usually highlighted by signage on the shelves. I can't afford to shop at Whole Paycheck, but this makes it easier for me to shop organic as much as I can. My doctor recently had me remove wheat from my diet, so I am LOVING their line of yummy gluten free products that actually taste good and don't break the bank. The people who work here are quite nice. The first few times the cashier made a point to tell me about their product guarantee: If you get a bad product, return it for a refund AND a new one. Everything's been good - no returns so far. One worker there recently went out of his way to make sure I knew where a store nearer to me is located. (I've been driving 40 minutes from LA to get here). That said - this store operates on a very slim crew. The place is pretty sterile looking, but it's very clean, and there is a 25 cent deposit to use a shopping cart, which is brilliant, because folks are motivated to return the cart to get the quarter back, and Aldi doesn't have to pay someone to do that. You have to bag your own items. All that is fine with me - because the SAVINGS is clearly passed on to the customer. read more

This is place is great. It's new, clean, and the inside looks like a Costco. Prices are so much cheaper than a regular grocery store like Pavilions or Ralph's. Like Costco, Aldi stocks just a few brands that they think will sell so you won't be overloaded options. All the items are stacked in a warehouse-like presentation. You will have to bring your own bag or pay ten cents for one of their paper bags. Also, if you want to use a shopping cart, you'll need to insert a quarter to unlock one but you get the quarter back when you put the cart back. read more

I'm surprised by any bad reviews for this place...my advise is try it before you listen to any bad reviews. Everyone has the right to their opinion, but this place is definitely worth trying out. A lot of people I know agree it has the best deals. This is coming from someone who has a lot of experience. On the average I save 50% to 60%. Some highlights: great snacks like chips and cheese crackers for under 2 dollars. Hamburger patties are very decent and good size. You cannot beat the prices for the quality and selection you get. Having been a resident of Temple City since 2001, I'm aware of the ins and outs of local businesses and restaurants. We've been EAGERLY awaiting the arrival of ALDI!!! Even pandora ads tell me it's a fresh supermarket with up to 50% savings. Cha-ching!!! Mom waited for an hour in the line and missed the $100 gift certificates for the 1st 100 customers this morning. She was prepare tasty treats for my dad's seminary students. She was kinda bummed since she waited for an hour around 9 AM! The meats were fresh and she even bought chair cushions since the old ones needed to be replaced. She got a free tote bag and when I swung by the store around 6 PM, the greeters handed me a shopping tote bag, too. SCORE!!! The vibe is like a mini Sam's club or Costco and you can sign up for reward card and the groceries and shopping total has to be over $30. Too bad I live in the South Bay area now after I got hitched or else I would shop here on a weekly basis! Aldi's owners also own Trader Joe's and is from Germany. How cool is that? 3.5 Stars? I heard about Aldi coming to California and how it was supposedly cheaper than Wal-Mart, so I was very excited to actually see it in person. One yelper referred to the store as "sterile" in appearance and I couldn't agree more. I don't think there is a word that better describes it actually. TBH, this is basically a store for boring people. But I am a boring person, so I like it. One thing I really liked is that they have mayonnaise in a glass jar. I usually shop at Wal-Mart and Target and have never seen this. As a sustainability conscious shopper, I love this! Another plus... they have Pesto for dirt cheap, probably half the price of competitors. Red Pepper Jelly was also a good deal. The cart system is pretty ingenious, but not perfect. Cheap cheap cheap! Did I mention cheap? Definitely cheaper than your everyday name brand markets but smaller and less selection. Definitely a lot of brands I haven't heard of but very similar in what they offer at a market. Bought a couple of food items to try and didn't taste so bad. Of course it's more of their branded items so you aren't accustomed to the names yet but very similar in offerings. If they last long here, the items they offer should become a household brand name soon just like what you see at the bigger markets. For the price of these items, the quality aren't that bad. I've only shopped here once before to try it out. Just going to wait to see if they become bigger. For now, I'll continue shopping at Target or Ralphs for my groceries. read more

When you first walk into the store you'll notice that it's extremely clean. They carry some things that are an extremely good value. I picked up several spices/seasonings for just 99 cents. Aldi's is great. Every item here is much less expensive than the same item at Von's (the next closest grocery store to my house.) I shop at Aldi's first and only go to Von's for things they don't have. Aldi's products are mostly Aldi's generic brand, which are generally very good, and some name brands. The store is small so they only have one type of most items and don't carry every type of product that the Von's does. If I don't like something, I return it. Done it 3 times in all these years. They don't give you a hard time on this. Customer service here is the BEST!! Always friendly and helpful!! This is my go-to store. You're in and out much quicker than the big grocery stores because you don't have to walk a big store and check out lines are shorter!! read more

Roughly two months ago, a new store opened in a plaza by Baldwin Ave in Arcadia. This store, Aldi, replaced half of a CVS and brought with it a number of changes. But first of all, some history. The Albrecht family owns Aldi and both the family as well as the store have their origins in Germany. The family divided the main store into two sisters, Aldi and Trader Joes. Like Trader Joe, Aldi is a physically small store with non-major brands products. However, what makes Aldi different, at least in the one that just opened, is that it follows a warehouse type structure, similar to Costco. The organization of the store is great and the variety of products and produce available is impressive, but Aldi's best attractive feature just might be its relatively lower prices. For example, in one week's ads, an Oreo Ice Cream cake was on sale for approximately 10 dollars. On the other hand, the same item was on sale or over 20 dollars in Pavilions, a store just a plaza over. However, what Aldi in turn trades for this low price is an unpredictable catalogue: that same Oreo Ice Cream cake was not available anytime after that week. Another downside to Aldi is that the name of their products have much less impact than those of big brands. Naturally, without the weight of a product's name, it is much harder to trust these brands. The quality of these products, however, are similar in nature to those of more sound brands. One interesting concept that Aldi brought to the plaza is their idea of a quarter cart. Their shopping carts are chained to each other and only by inserting a quarter can the chain be unlocked. Before anyone panics over their lost quarter, one would have to note that the quarter can be retrieved when the cart is rechained. An interesting way to ensure that customers don't run off with their cart for sure, but mightily annoying for those without a heads up. Overall, Aldi is an interesting store, one that should be checked out and considered if one lives close. However, it is not worth it to drive a long distance for this store, but then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. read more

This has got to be the most apathetic Aldi that I have shopped at. Usually they are very good with calling for a backup cashier if the line gets too long, but this place just redefined what "stupid" is in the dictionary. Old lady cashier would scan items very slow and would stare blankly down the long line to give that look of "nothing I can do about it". There was another worker just zig-zagging around and into the long line just restocking the shelves at the front. Finally a third worker, with a big smile, came to open up a new line for a pretty lady. If there wasn't any, I think I would've seen my life pass before my eyes. This Aldi has the best vegetables at the best prices. I also like that they wrap the vegetables like broccoli and green onions. With Covid 19, I feel better buying vegetables that less people have pawed over with their hands. There is usually only one check stand open which is a detriment. I can not believe that anyone would say this is a good place to shop. There is very little fresh produce, no herbs, meat selection is inadequate. There are no name brand products, so you really don't know what you are buying. It is a dollar store environment, with one employee at the register, sitting down and you bag your own stuff. He just sits there while you bag stuff and the long line behind you watches you. No one there is buying more than they can carry in their hands because you have to pay to rent a cart.
