We'll have to see how this plays out. Was there today for a scouting visit. Parking lot very full with frustrated drivers circling for spots, I parked on Baldwin. There is only one entrance and it's narrow, people were bunched up, trying to get carts...25 cents rental...never seen that before. Inside, it's somewhat like a small Costco. You will not find ten different brands of mustard but you may find three that they anticipate will sell well. They had decent sized avocados for 49 cents but they were from Mexico. They did have artichokes they said were local. Today there were samples of chocolate and crackers. they had Kirkland products in the freezer, I thought that was a Costco brand. Even tho the store was crowded, there were few people checking out (buying) unlike the new Sprouts store in Alhambra, which is usually buzzing. Meat area seemed very small and I did not see fish, except frozen fish. read more

This Aldi was one of the first stores in southern California and I've shopped here weekly since they opened. This review is for the Arcadia, Ca. location.You can't beat the quality and ease of shopping. The one area they can really improve is their customer service. It took me one visit to another store to see they are very big difference. The other stores (Pasadena, Duarte) were friendly while shopping and most importantly at checkout they paid friendly attention to you and your needs. In the Arcadia location they are not friendly, helpful, or really care if you're there or not. It's been this way from the start and I don't see it changing. read more

Fun fact: ALDI's owner is the brother of the owner of Trader Joe's! What a cute little supermarket! I had a really good experience at this location. The store itself is pretty small, maybe like a quarter of your typical Ralphs. Nonetheless, it had practically every single thing I was looking for! What I noticed is while ALDI had pretty much everything, it maintains it's smaller size because it limits the options of every item. For example, instead of 10 different types and brands and variations of sour cream, there are only like two or three. Personally, I prefer this - I am super indecisive so this quality makes shopping a lot easier on my end, haha. I said this store had pretty much everything because I was looking for two very specific things that they did not carry: frozen macarons and serrano peppers LOL. The former is a huge anomaly but I actually think something like a serrano is worth noting. (In fact, I don't think I saw any type of spicy pepper, including jalapeños.) Because I immediately went to a different store afterwards, I did notice the prices at ALDI were cheaper than at Ralphs. Also, many of the brands that ALDI carries are private-label, so all of their chips are by Clancy's (???) and the majority of their cereals are non-big-brand names as well. Prices were slightly lower all across the board though, "off-brand" or not. The last thing I wanted to note is that their meat selection is quite small and a bit lacking. Still good though! They also had lamb, hehe. Oh, also the employees were so kind and helpful! I love that a lot. :-) Will definitely come back again as a quick convenient run. read more

Hello Aldi, just stopped by to check out what they have for this week sale. Well, obviously they have. Started with the red grape which was my favorite. It was only .75 lbs. Also, the Banana was just for .29 lbs. They seemed to like to have the sale almost weekly. The store was bright with lights, organized and very clean. From fresh produce to meats or other items for the house used, they have all of those in here. Eggs, bread, and other products were very cheap at Aldi. They didn't have a lot of kinds of stuff like other supermarkets but they were probably getting there in the future. The cashiers were warm, welcome and very professional . read more

Since you are still trying to figure out what a pantry is, forget it. Look at the bare insides of your refrigerator. Consider how much better that space would be if it were full of delicious meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables. It will be the way it was meant to be once you shop at Aldi. Everything in the store is cheap. But that means something different than at say, Safeway. So for example when you find a loaf of bread for $1.39, you notice the loaf contains no artificial colors or high fructose corn syrup. Yes it costs $1.39, but it is not fake as shit. Everything is cheap because everything is simply basic. And to make it even better, you don't need to buy in bulk like at Costco. No more storing groceries x 2 in your not-so-rent-controlled kitchen to save a buck. There will be a wonderful time when as part of a day shopping at Aldi, you buy a pack of bratwurst for $2.89, a bag of onions for $1.44, hot dog buns for 85 cents and a 33 cent box of mac & cheese as a side. And you will go home and cook that stuff quickly because you can do that sort of thing in your sleep. And for less than the cost of fast food everyone is saying, in effect, this tastes pretty darn good. It's an ordinary weeknight and you're spending a quantity of togetherness that completely exceeds anything you know right now. You will follow that up with some healthy and delicious strawberries for 99 cents a pound. I like this market, but what is with the electric shock when you touch the handle of the refrigerator glass doors on the left side of the market? Months ago, I complained to the cashier. He apologized and said he doesn't know why it does that. To this day, it still has not been fixed. I tried to open the door with my sleeve covering my hand, but it doesn't matter. It still zaps me. Is this affecting me more than anyone else? Do I have more minerals in my body? No one else has complained? They better hire an electrician to fix this or they will get sued. Unimpressed. I came in for the first time yesterday evening, NYE. I was on my way to a potluck and need a can of condensed milk (easy), and was hoping to find some ingredients for a last minute vegetable dish, either a salad or something to roast. The produce selection was poor in terms of both availability and quality. A handful of items were out of stock, and I noticed mold in tomatoes and green beans. The red onions were also bruised and had surface level cuts with fruit flies floating around. Furthermore, I felt rushed at checkout. The cashier was scanning my items before the previous customer's receipt was even printed. And they use a shopping cart at the end of the register to place your items into, and then you bag them yourself? The cashier was cordial enough, but her actions told me that I needed to move fast so they could take money from the next person ASAP. #capitalism? read more

Listen to me: Aldi is a German brand. I grew up in Germany. I'm surprised that Aldi is cheaper than any other American brand such as Ralphs or Albertson. Even the vegetables here beat the price of Asian grocery stores where I usually go to save money. It's cool to find many German products especially chocolates. But the majority what they sell here is definitely Americanized. Anyways, Aldi is the cheapest place to go. Just go to other places and see for yourself and then come here. read more

Nice, New & Clean! But for how long? This is a German owned grocery store that has a European feel and look. seems like a try at America has left a confused style, But it looks good! These stores are popping up all over California Medium size markets similar to Fresh & Easy. They sell many no name product items here, Many have copy cat packaging similar to name brands like Kellogg's, Kraft, General Mills Etc. I felt like i was on a movie set with fake grocery item props all on the shelves. The new stores look good the employees are nice and helpful and the prices are pretty good. Just be prepared to be a little confused on what to buy here! They have locked shopping carts that can be released with a 25 cent deposit, which is great because you have to return your cart back to get your quarter back! New Supermarket opened! I would highly recommend this supermarket to those that are on a tight budget & don't care about expensive brand names. Although majority of the products sold here aren't the usual brand names (e.g cereal, ziplocs, beverages), it's pretty decent. Their produce is REALLY cheap & they look fresh. This isn't the place for apparel or makeup or tools or anything really heavy duty. The place is really well lit & clean. It's a pretty decent place to get some groceries. I would say it doesn't hurt to check the place out. If you don't like it, grab yourself a half & half drink to get over the disappointment. lol read more

To start off I have nothing bad to say about the freshness or quality of aldi. I am writing this negative review because of the cashier anthony. I was putting my last item in my bag when he pushed the cart away almost making me drop my last item. Instead of saying sorry, he kept on repeatedly saying 6 feet apart as if I was deaf or did not understand english since I was asian. I felt racially discriminated by his actions. I felt rushed and unwelcomed in the store. He could have waited until I finish putting my last item In the bag which would have taken less than 5 sec before making another person behind me in line pay and following the 6 feet social distancing law. If he is still working there I would highly recommend avoiding this store location unless you want to be looked down upon. read more

Came here for their Open House. This place reminds me a lot of Trader Joe's and Fresh and Easy - not as big as a traditional supermarket. It fills half the space the old CVS used to occupy. The space is very well done, it was open, clean and well lit. Staff seemed friendly and inviting. Prices on produce seem competitive - I saw 1lb strawberries for $1.45, salad kits for $1.49, and grapes for $0.99 per lb. Unlike Trader Joes they do carry a variety of meats, some in large quantities. But like them they also have a lot of store brand goods. And they also sell patio and garden furniture, toys and other non grocery store items. Parking is in the CVS lot which can get busy sometimes but I was able to get a spot. Probably will try coming here now since Fresh and Easy closed. read more

Located between Moffett's Family Restaurant & Chicken Pie Shoppe and CVS with a large parking lot. Aldi is a a German owned discounted market chain that is typically found in the midwest. I saw an Aldi when I was on vacation in Chicago a few months ago. Slowly, Aldi has opened out here in California and have been wondering about this market since this particular location has opened back in April. I would have to say that Aldi seems to be a cross between Fresh & Easy and Trader Joe's. Aldi sells a lot of their own branded items in the store and has a small selection of meat and dairy items. This market overall is pretty basic, so you may not find all of the ingredients you may need for a complicated recipe (but Vons is across the street for that). When you come here, make sure to bring your own reusable bags or you can purchase a plastic bag for $0.15 a piece. After you pay for your items, there is an area to bag it just across from the registers (kind of odd to me but that's how this market works). Overall, I am not impressed by this market chain. But it serves its purpose in providing the bare basics for the neighborhood around. read more

I am a FAN! I have recently visited a few Aldi locations and I can not keep bragging to friends and family what a great store this is. I have yet to have one bad or even not so good experience at anyone of the Aldi locations. Today I was in the area to buy a few things and I thought let me check this location out. Just as impressed with the other stores, the place is fairly new so it's in great shape, the team was very friendly and helpful. As I walked in and just thought I would browse, any employee that I passed greeted me and asked if I needed any help. With great products and very well organized of course I did not walk out empty handed, shopping here is so much fun because you can tell they put time to keep things in place and fully stocked which makes me want to buy all the great products they carry. If you are every in the area make sure to give them a try, I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

There are a lot of people coming because it's a new brand supermarket in the area. It's 25 cents to rent a cart and I believe you get it back once you return it. The produce is fairly cheap which anyone can appreciate! 1.49 for strawberries. 1.99 for blackberries. I love cheap produce, .99 cents/lb for green grapes. These prices are better than any competitor. They have unique snacks from foreign brands, I love diversity. There are so many things to look at. The store is very organized and clean and lots of workers. They have everything you'd expect of a grocery store although I missed the ice cream (I'm sure it's there). They have some familiar brands like Pringles, Gushers, Gatorade but many things are various brands I've never seen before. I'm a fan just because it's different, different is always good. I also appreciate their policies of being environmentally friendly and treating their workers fairly! Their cashiers had seats! I highly recommend just exploring the store even if you do not have an intention to buy, like me. It was refreshing to experience a new kind of market. I like this convenient Aldi location. There's a CVS and many restaurants near by. However parking could get a little crowded sometimes but as far as I can recall, there isn't once that I have found the parking lot to be 100% full, so with a little walking you would still find empty parking spaces at the far corner. I come in once a while and have noticed that lately they always have only one cashier , for instances on a Friday night around 7pm , with moderate amount of people waiting to check out, despite the fact that there are usually many aldi employees working inside the store but there is always only ONE cashier. I suppose they would open more cashier registers when they see the line getting long but for some reason this is not efficiently enforced at this place. Just tonight On my way out existing the parking lot after shopping at Aldi, I saw one Aldi employee who was driving the electrical wheel chair shopping cart while talking on his cell phone. He was kinda just cruising around the parking lot. and I thought to myself how unfair this was to the only ONE girl cashier who was basically slaving away like she was the only employee working there. I think this reflects how poorly the store management is. The customers should always be the priority in a retail space like this one , not stocking up, nor cruising around the parking lot with a electrical wheelchair cart, though their front line employees might not care. I hope this review will help the store manager or their regional manager or even higher to enforce their employees' focus onto the customers more effectively and efficiently. A little fun fact at the end : Aldi and Trader Joe's were owned by 2 Brothers from Germany which were one of the richest people in the world. So basically Aldi and traders Joe's are still linked in a way that is not apparent due to the complicated nature of the business ownerships but at the end of the day they are both still owned by a German family to this date (long story short). read more

Brand new supermarket next to CVS and across the street from Vons (Pavilions). 25 Cents to get a shopping cart, however, you do get the 25 cents back when you return it. It is a silly concept but it is what it is. However, someone may approach you and ask you for your shopping car in return for the 25 cents. The market is pretty nice, its not a huge supermarket like Pavilions or Ralphs, but it has the staples like your meats, fruits, and dairy. They say they are cheap, and they stick true to it. Some of the meats have stickers on it for extra discounts sort of like coupons. Bring your own grocery bags! or it'll be 10-15cents a bag. You do the bagging yourself at the bagging station also. I'm the type of guy who really doesn't care about brands. As long as the quality of the material is good and is at a great price, I'm satisfied. That's why I freaking love this store. There's just enough selection in this store where you can use this as your sole grocery store. Bought a rib eye steak and some broccoli the other day and it was about the same, if not better than the quality you would get at the Pavilion's next door. I still really like the sales that Pavilions offers (weeks where you can get tri-tip at $4/pound and pork chops at $2/pound always keep me from leaving). Aldi is a great store for your weekly grocery shopping (decent quality produce at a bargain price) when there aren't any great deals at the surrounding grocery stores. It also helps that it's less than a 5 minute drive away for me. Tip: Remember to bring a quarter so you can use the carts. Long time Aldi customer- been coming here since the store opened. As in I was a regular on a weekly basis. I needed a quarter for a cart but discovered I didn't have any. I went inside, waited in line, and asked if I could break a bill and get four quarters. The cashier said no. "We need our change." I asked if there was any way I could borrow a quarter to get a cart and then I would return it when I was done. I had heard that if you asked they would as a courtesy. Nope. "We don't do that." Aldi is an awesome grocery store. I come here for my milk now, better prices then all the other grocery stores. They have a great selection of good quality items and produce for low prices. They have weekly deals that beat a lot of other markets and Costco prices. They have a great return policy on their store stuff as well. Remember to bring your own bags and it cost a quarter to get a cart. Would be a 5 star place but they always only have one register open even when the line gets long. Taking away 2 stars because they are just getting worse & worse. --If something is on sale, they immediately run out. what's left looks as if it had been rotting in a dark corner. --The place looks like a train wreck, with food & boxes, etc., tossed here & there. --The rest rooms are still revolting. --But, worst of all, the staffing situation is impossible. I was there today & the store was pretty quiet because of a steady rain. They had 3 registers open - oh no, can't have that. They cut it down to 1 & there was suddenly a very long line, despite a quiet day, which didn't get any shorter while the other staff mmebers distracted the one cashier working w/ chitchat. --As I approached a register, the cashier turned off the light without a word & walked away. I hadn't seen him turn off the light, just walk away, so I asked if he was now closed. He snapped, "The light is off, isn't it?" I raised an eyebrow & said, "I'm not looking at your light, am I?" and he replied that, "Yeah ... you ARE." Yes, he ignored a customer, responded to a polite inquiry w/ a nasty response & when the customer objected to be addressed rudely got even ruder. Sweetie, I don't work there, you do, so the burden is on you to say, "This line is closed now." But he doesn't work for me and never would. If you don't like working with the public, get another job. I recently went there and had a double charge using my Apple Phone and the 2ND charge was more then 3 times as much as the original charge. I only buy a few things from here but I have to say their produce and dairy is very fresh unlike Vons. I like the gallon milk and their white mushrooms. I was told to get the mushrooms you have to be there before noon because this is a high volume store. The checkers are also very fast as they are timed. read more

Thankfully had a quarter or I would have had to shop without a cart. As it was I bought nothing and got my quarter back and another because someone didn't collect theirs. The highlight of my trip. Never found the coffee. Prices ok, but not much name brand. Didn't see any deals I couldn't live without. I love the whole Aldi experience. I'm a fan of both Aldi (aka Aldi Sud) and Trader Joes (aka Aldi Nord). Despite being from the same parent company and having similar business models, the two stores are a bit different. Aldi minimizes their operational costs by minimizing staff (in a series of brilliant moves), shelving things in their original packaging, etc. Because of that, the cost savings are passed onto the consumer. I can get half a gallon of organic milk for $3.30. THAT IS UNHEARD OF! Aldi has a lot of things that are priced so well, I would venture out here just to get them (snacks, finger foods, and milk to name a few). However, their fresh produce is extremely lacking and comprises a measly fifth of the store (if that) and that's where Trader Joe's is superior. Don't get me wrong though, I love this place, and you'll definitely find me walking out of the store with some organic milk. read more

Restroom close no access, came around 8pm checker cashier number 5 on February 17,2023 a female white Caucasian totally ignore after asking are you open an associate said her name was Pauline whether true not.. I will say no.. she said they closed the restroom because they cleaned an hour ago.. again no sign of the claim they are cleaning up... much if it was out of service..if was out of service that understandable, but this case both associates the cashier female and a white Caucasian male that the reason not open... because they are cleaning, okay no light a big fence just for cleaning a restroom, remember the female said they an hour ago.. bottom line of the truth this Aldi associates are lazy.. is closed not because is out of service.. please we all been restaurant, grocery store and even gas station..does take one or two hours to clean the restroom and most of if they are cleaning there is a sign for the public.. I guess it takes a real dumb ass to work at Aldi and on top say the restroom is closed because they are cleaning...
