We flew Alaska Air (for the first time in a long time) from SAN to PHX. It was just one way as we were disembarking a cruise ship The plane was a smaller regional jet, flight was just an hour. The captain make an announcement that there was 'no calm air' between the two airports so there would be no cabin service. Bummer, but we understood Interestingly, the flight was actually just fine. No turbulence until the last ten minutes landing. Seat was comfortable, but can't comment on much else except we got home safely Bonus at SAN is you can see the cruise port from the runway read more

So my flight going to Arizona didn't have Wi-Fi so that was quite disappointing cause I had work I had to do so it was highly expected and there was no accommodations. They just didn't have Wi-Fi so that was unfortunate. Then as I leave Arizona going back to Seattle I have a agent at the death who doesn't understand what ADA is and I have to explain to her the acronym of ADA when I'm attempting to board pre-board really disappointed lately Alaska you could do a lot better read more

This airline overbooks and FORCES you to check your bag. They claimed it was too big but it fit in their compartment that says what is acceptable. They did this after they announced they needed 15 people to check bags and they didn't get that so they needed an excuse to check another bag so I got FORCED to check my bag. read more

This review is for first class seating. Being the first time I ever flew first class and the tickets being so expensive I had very high expectations about what the seats were going to be like. They advertised first class got one suitcase up to 70lbs which wasn't the case and 9 extra inches of legs room so you can literally walk around each other but that wasn't the case either. We did have a choice of food on one of the flights but on our way home no choice of food was offered but we did get a fruit and cheese plate. Definitely not as exciting or as comfortable as I thought it would be. read more

Alaska Airlines is a huge breath of fresh air after flying Allegiant and Southwest for so many years. There is actual legroom! The stewardess don't seem miserable in their jobs and the flights typically take off on time. Ticket prices aren't too bad either, even when booking last minute. read more

Worst experience I've ever had, upgraded for first class and when I get here there's no reservations but they took my $800 for first class ticket Now I sit in the middle row instead of first class even though I paid 800 fucking dollars This is the last time I ever fly these motherfuckers read more

Being consistent. The rules seem to change based on who is working the desk. Something as simple as picking up our underage child at the gate who has been escorted by an adult at every terminal from Okinawa Japan to Seattle, but Phoenix was like no. And they will not help us. I would not trust this airline with your children. Unprofessional and stressful. read more

Checking in was great - until we had to onboard. Perhaps a new requirement came about and we all were not aware of. The lady checking our tickets at the boarding area didn't inform all of us women on new requirements "A woman can no longer take her purse along with a backpack" ..?? I was then instructed to take may purse and place it in my backpack. the male counter agent at the boarding area was great. Date: Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 Time Left: PHX at 5:45pm Time Arrived: SFO at 7:35pm Booked with: Points plus $5.60 in taxes each Seats: Premium with upgrade fee of $15 each I have an Alaska CC, but I have no status. Imagine my surprise when waiting for our flight, they called us over to the gate counter. For some reason, I thought we might be in trouble. (Idk why, maybe the grade school kid in me felt like I was being called to the principal's office.) Instead of being in trouble, they were offering us a free upgrade to first class! I don't think I've ever been upgraded to first on Alaska, so I was happy. The flight itself was great. They offered us alcoholic beverages and snacks. I was starving, so tried a fair amount of salty and sweet treats from the tray. And it was nice for the hubby since he always gets stuck in the middle seat. He got to sit in the aisle instead. I typically like flying Alaska since I get a free checked bag due to the CC, but getting upgraded at PHX made this flight that much better. REVIEW #3470 read more

Absolutely terrible experience traveling with my pet on Alaska Airlines. They pulled me and another woman off the plane after boarding to tell us the weather over Seattle was too extreme to travel with our pets. Which is good, I don't want to be unsafe or put my pet at risk AT ALL. But then the Boston ticketing manager abused me, lied to me (claimed no other airlines transport pets over 20lbs), and arranged a flight for me 6 days later telling me I would have to arrange my 6-day hotel stay in Boston at my own expense. They did arrange a 1-night hotel stay for me, to be fair. I ended up taking a train to Newark, flying to LA, and driving 14 hours to my Portland destination. They treated me like something they stepped in, attempted halfheartedly to place me in a homeless shelter (I'm not homeless), which declined to let me stay, and then they left me to freeze, with no luggage, in the Boston cold. I came away thinking, wow it is much easier for a human to freeze to death in Boston than I ever would have imagined. read more

Facts: I booked a first-class seat (D3) on Flight 189 from SEA to PHO for Jan 6, 2025. I pre-ordered a meal. I boarded and occupied my seat. The friendly first-class attendant brought me a coffee while the plane was still boarding. Nice. Then an Alaska agent appeared and said, "So sorry, we have to move you to Economy due to a 'operational necessity.'" I was moved to A17. They did not bring me the meal I had ordered. Someone else sat in D3. So far, I have heard nothing from Alaska about refunding my First Class fare. I texted customer service and was told I must call and discuss it with them. I will. However, what I will not do is book another flight with Alaska for the rest of my life. read more

Alaska used to be an incredible airline, but recently as they have grown their service has gotten severely worse. My family and I just took a trip and they lost my bag both ways, and all but one flight were really delayed on departure. one took off one and a half hours after the designated time. Also, when we have a connecting flight with a layover, they just ship our luggage to the final destination, not the airport in between. It's just really inconvenient. The only reason I still fly with them is because I have many unused miles to use that my purchases provided. read more

Nothing like getting to the ticket counter at 58 minutes before departure and told that we can't check our luggage because we were not there 60 minutes prior to departure. We had to split our party up so two of us could fly with our bags. 1/2 of our party almost didn't make it into Anchorage and almost missed the last bus to our cruise ship. It was one of my most stressful days of travel and I have traveled a lot. Needless to say our bags didn't make it. We did get our bags in Juneau (1/2 way thru the cruise) thanks the the Alaska baggage agents. Did you know that not all cruise ships have things like maxi pads and shoes??? I spent the first half of our cruise on the phone (when able), online or going from port store to port store to get needed items. And guess what? According to Alaska policy we only needed to be checked in 40 MINUTES before departure. read more

We attempted to fly from Phoenix AZ on a Thursday to Washington state coming home on a Sunday. We had been checked in for 20 hours and as we arrived to the airport, we received a text that our plane had been canceled. There was no delayed flight offered, no alternate flights to my destination offered. All I received was an automatic change option of flying Saturday and returning Sunday which was pointless. The airlines by law have to refund the entire amount of the tickets if they cancel a flight on passengers, but there was no option to receive a full refund thru their online portal. I had to spend additional time calling them and requesting a full refund and we are still waiting on that to post. It's not cool that they cancelled short notice before the flight, gave us no viable options, and that we had to call just to ask for the full refund. DO NOT FLY ALASKA AIRLINES, especially if you have special plans. Alaska Airlines obviously cannot deliver on the task of domestic air travel. read more

I checked in online, then Tried to quickly drop bag at the "bag drop" line at sky harbor , long wait because they were using bag drop line for problem / customer service issue not bag related . Then once issue resolved when I got to the front of line I still had to wait because manager on duty (Chicago) said he had to take care of the issue, and that although it was indeed the "bag drop" lane he was manager on duty and had to do it. I had to wait another 5 or so minutes. I understand perhaps manager needed to do it, but really not a good system for him to deal with it at bag drip, which is meant just to drop bags, should help complex customers at regular line not bag drop. I had a flight Seattle to Phoenix and when landing I grabbed my backpack that was underneath the seat in front of me to as getting out of the seat. As I lift my backpack, I noticed my bag was wet and then I started to get a smell of urine. The person In front of me had the same problem and we noticed there was urine on the floor. I went to customer service and made a claim about the incident and they told me to call the main line the next day as I did. The next day came and I called and I was on hold for long periods of time multiple times. When finally I was able to talk to a supervisor, I explained about my experience with my bag full of of urine and me touching the urine as well, they Only told me I could have just washed my hands and walked away. They only offered me a discount for my next flight which I thought was not fair. My experience on that flight was not great. I understand when flights get canceled due to mechanical issues it's for everyone's safety, i appreciate the thorough inspection that caught this. However what i don't appreciate is how the airline handled the situation. We were one of the lucky few to get to the rescheduling stand early and got rescheduled for a flight the same day. However the original flight was 7am and the new flight was 5:50. Only compensation offered was a 12$ food voucher... in an airline where are you going to get a meal for under 12$????? However we were grateful for anything.. until we tried to use it at shake shack (one of the very few options in terminal 3) and since our order was over 20$ the vouchers were invalid... SERIOUSLY??!? 12 each person.. two meals.. 24$ ... The people working for each company can only do what they're told but Alaska needs to change how they handle these situations, it should be like a cash credit like a visa gift card that works no matter what, how they "made it right" should have no stipulations on how to use the "voucher".. absolutely ridiculous. read more

The plane was freezing in premium class. All passengers with in the rows to both side of me and the front and back of me were cold. Numerous complaints to the staff about the temp. When my dad passed away I called Alaska directly to book a last minute flight fro PDX to PHX and had to call for the bereavement discount. The CSR was extremely compassionate and she even called me back when our call got dropped. She enrolled me in the mileage program and explained everything very clearly. The boarding process was simple and the FAs were very nice. When booking bereavement fair you need to schedule one-way flights and the return needs to be scheduled within 7 days after scheduling the departure. After I scheduled my return flight I had to call them back extend it out a few more days. I was even given a 150$ flight credit since this time the flight was cheaper then the one I originally booked. I will continue using Alaska for my flights from the PNW read more

Alaska Airlines always does a great job and their PHX team is no exception. In a the airline world of average, these guys still provide an exceptional product. This review is really just about the PHX station but Alaska does a great job Olin general to take care of passengers. Unfortunately, not enough cities served out of Phoenix, hopefully that will change, but when I have to go to the Pacific Northwest it's the only airline I choose. I called and spoke to a supervisor name Shay who was very defensive and rude and didn't want to help me at all and kept contradicting herself. Backstory- I called to speak to someone in regard to my husband and 18month old sons connecting flight (1/14) their flight from PHX - SeaTac was on the ground in SeaTac and their connecting flight to PDX was boarding. No one told my husband that he had been rebooked mid air because they thought the flight was going to be late (it wasn't) so when my husband de boarded the plane the staff at the gate told him to not even try to get to his connecting flight because the gate had been closed and never told him he had been re booked. He then had to go to the podium and they still didn't tell him that he had already been rebooked and let him know that he was on standby for the next flight. I asked Shay why my husband was never told that he was rebooked in air and she had no answers for me, I also asked her why they wouldn't try to hold the plane if they knew that their flight had already landed before the gates closed to the connecting flight. She got very defensive and said "ma'am, do you expect me to hold a flight with 100 people on it for 2 other people?" I then asked her if it was Alaska's policy to not hold flights in this instance and she said "we rarely hold flights for anyone". She became very combative with me over the phone and after spending 15 minutes going back and forth with her she then told me I needed to call customer care and that I was speaking to reservations and she could do nothing for me. I asked her why she let me go back and forth with her for 15 minutes if she wasn't going to help from the beginning and she said " I thought you knew this was reservations". Alaska airlines is a joke. No customer service and they tell you that you are screwed. They take your money and refuse to give it back. The flight attendants for this airline need to be held to higher standards. Youth group went on a missions trip using this airline. The people around the group all agreed the students were well behaved. But when the attendants found out we were a church group, they started coming up with bogus complaints. They ended up giving one student two yellow cards and then banning him and I from the airline for asking what he did wrong. This airline is excellent when it comes to customer service! My granddaughter is 10 and she flew unaccompanied from SeaTac to Sky Harbor for a visit with me, my husband and grown children. She looked at my ID and entered information into the computer. She printed a pass for me to go through TSA and to the gate where she would meet me. She let me know my granddaughter would deplane last after everyone else exited the plane. At the gate, she brought my granddaughter to me. Took care to book our tickets in advance so our family could sit together. We boarded about halfway through the boarding process. By the time we had made it on the plane, a different couple who HADNT booked seats together had complained and asked if there was anything they could do to sit together since when they booked there were no openings for two people. So the stewardess gave them our seats and we all had to sit apart. Probably could have fought it but we're pretty non confrontational by nature. Very inconsistent. We were excited to fly with Alaska, but first thing when we got to Phoenix's Alaska Airlines, we were so disappointed. The woman working there was not friendly, helpful, or welcoming. She charged us EXTRA for our baggage, when no one else has been charging us - AT ALL!!! EVEN WHEN WE FLEW ALASKA AGAIN, THE MAN IN SEATTLE didn't charge us at all! THIS WOMAN charged us $50 for extra baggage. Our luggage wasn't even heavy! I really like flying Alaska Air, for a few reasons: 1) it's out of Terminal 2, which means a quick walk in/walk out, almost no wait in line, easy bag check-in and easy baggage claim. 2) I have almost always experienced pleasant stewards on all AK flights... for the most part genuinely friendly, prompt, and of good spirits 3) Alaska Air (one of my favorite aspects) is all about recycling and using local or at least AK, HI, or Pacific Northwest-based businesses for their on-board food/drinks for sale - this is such a pleasure to see and it makes me want to continue doing business with them 4) $20 baggage check-in fee... $5 cheaper than USAir.. not bad 5) When I've upgraded to First Class upon check-in in the past, it's costed me $50/leg of my itinerary - score!! This is why I like Alaskan Air! read more

I used to hear that Alaska airline was good b/c they are usually on time with schedule. Maybe this is true, but gosh their customer service is horrendous. I mean I've flown a fair amount in my life. Not just in the US, but also overseas with some sketchy airlines. But by far, Alaska airlines had one of the worst customer service and did not help out a passenger. It seems as though, their company motto is "You are on your own" type of mentality. The problem started when I arrived 30mins prior to my flight and had already checked in online a day before. I was not checking in any bags, so all I had to do was get a reprint of my boarding pass to go through security. Too bad, nobody was a the counter to help me out and the kiosk would not let me print out my pass. So I was just sitting ducks outside the security line just watching my plane take off while I could not do anything. When I eventually got a hold of the customer service agent, there was no remorse. I tried to tell them that I was there 30mins early and had already checked in online a day before. Plus they didn't have ANYONE at the ticket counter. But those facts did not matter to them. They never apologized and never offered for any help. All they were busy doing was to blame me for not showing up an hour earlier. Well it's save to say that I will NEVER fly Alaska airlines if I could and I would never recommend this airline. Worst customer service ever. read more
