Today was very first visit to Mesa Gateway Airport. We had to take a long time friend of ours to the airport to catch his flight home. It is a much smaller airport and is located just southeast from the corner of Power Road and Ray Road. Simple to get in and out plus the parking is available just across from the terminal. They offer wheelchair help to those that need it. The airport has a hassle free and friendly atmosphere. Kind of a distance from where we live but I would really consider using this airport if I lived closer. It kind of reminds me of what Terminal One used to be at Sky Harbor Airport. Just remember the easy access from Ray Road and Power Road. Our friend was flying Allegiant Airlines so I can't say how many cities it flies to. read more

I took an Uber to Mesa Gateway Airport today due to car troubles. I usually drive and take advantage of their reasonable daily parking rates. There was no line at the security checkpoint which is rare. It's a rather smaller airport that was remodeled a few years ago. From the front entrance to gate 7 was less than 7 minutes. I've always had a good experience with the TSA Agents here! They have always been friendly and polite. I've been to many airports where the TSA Agents just bark orders and are grumpy and act like everyone is a criminal. The airport itself is clean and has always had clean bathrooms. I've flown in and out of this airport probably 30 times and I've always had a good experience. read more

This is a great small airport clean, easy to navigate, and stress-free. I really like how it keeps the classic Arizona desert style throughout the terminal, which gives it a unique local feel. Everything feels simple and efficient compared to larger airports, making travel much more enjoyable. Definitely a convenient and pleasant airport to fly out of. read more

I love coming to this airport, sitting at the picnic tables and watching the airplanes takeoff and land. There's a nice area right by the tarmac that has picnic tables and a few shade trees. There is also a large covered area with picnic tables as well. It's nice, quiet and relaxing. Some days I see fighter jets, commercial aircraft, small Cessna's and private jets. Air Force One has even landed here. read more

Small airport for low cost carriers but does the job in my opinion. The airport area has everything including cell phone lot, paid parking etc. It will be not a first choice for traveler but its not crowded so getting here is pretty easy. I wish they had more food options inside the airport. read more

If you're looking for an alternative to a big airport like PHX, Mesa may be a great option... I recently flew out of Mesa to Provo, Utah. My flight was on Allegiant Air, so that was a first for me as well. Re: my Allegiant flight, I didn't have high expectations, so it was just fine. Back to the airport itself, checking in and getting through security was a breeze and I even had time to grab a cup of coffee before boarding my flight. There are a handful of retail stores and a few restaurants, but you can see from one side of the airport all the way to the other no problem. I would absolutely fly in / out of Mesa Gateway again! read more

Really nice little airport, however, there aren't many restaurants or shops airside so I'd recommend eating before you arrive if possible. I love that the car rental desks are right next to the baggage claim, which makes it really convenient upon landing. TSA is also fast here and I've never had an issue on the 3 times I've flow out of here so far. read more

Over the last eleven years we've primarily flown out of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, but in recent treks we've been trying out Mesa Gateway Airport. Although overall I consider it a convenient and accessible airport, I do find some considerable inconveniences. In my occasions to regularly travel yet not a professional airport reviewer by no means, and not a business traveler - but a mainly fun and demands flyer, I developed as concise a method for gauging the merit of each airport visited. My criteria are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation: 4.5; 2) convenient parking when having to leave vehicle or dropping off: 4.0; 3) access and convenience of retrieving and dropping off rental vehicles: 3.5; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, seating areas and access to communications, charging and Wi-Fi: 3.5; 5) overall human customer service - including but not limited to ticket counter, TSA, Hospitality, Retail, Support Services, Restaurant and Baggage Handler knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor: 3.0; 6) ease of flight information access throughout facility via signage, boards, screens or clear understandable PA system announcements: 2.5; 7) distance, maneuverability, access and convenience of trekking from gate to gate and/or concourse to concourse for connecting flights: 4.0; 8) quantity, value, convenience, quality and comfort of eateries and/or retailers: 2.0; and last, but not least 9) baggage handling, claims and retrieval location, process and lost and found assistance: 4.0. Taking all the aforementioned categories, I've devised a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best an airport can be! This airport rates barely a: 3.05. Most positive points at this airport are: ease of passenger drop off and pick up and closeness of short-term parking. The most negative points here are: the extraordinary distance from long-term parking, limited quality eating establishments and inadequate arrival/departure info - as there do not seem to be enough screens for this, and those available are hard to see with very, very small print (especially for us older folk). Otherwise, this is an above average airport. read more

Worst air traffic control. Delayed is 45 min on the tarmac for rerouting an Allegiant flight to Provo which is a daily route for the airline. read more

My travel through Mesa Gateway went as smoothly possible. It's a nice smaller airport, so security was a breeze. Getting my car at the rental car counter was quick and efficient, and returning my car just as much. The airport and the surrounding area was easy to navigate. Will certainly think about flying through Mesa again if I'm heading back to phoenix (and beyond)! read more

Small airports are the best! We were able to get to off the plane and outside really quickly. We didn't check luggage so can't speak to that. The one small hiccup for us was it was slightly confusing where to meet the ride share app drivers. We were able to get a direct flight from Des Moines less expensive than going through the other airport in the area. read more

I love flying in and out of Mesa! The parking is easy and the free shuttle is great! TSA goes quickly for the most part. The gate agents are friendly. The bathrooms are clean. There is a Panera inside if you need something quick before your flight. Really love having this airport as an option for the Phx area. read more

If you're looking for inexpensive flights to get out of town, this is the airport to go to. Although it's a long drive to get to it it's worth it for the price if you are watching prices. We always use allegiant airline. They have long-term and short term parking as well. The airport is small so there's honestly only about 10 gates so you don't have to fight with as many people When you're trying to catch your flight. read more

How this airport has changed its really grown there's cellphone parking now but still lacks long term parking. But you can have Uber and Lyft drop you off and pick you up. There's plenty of places to eat inside once you get passed the TSA checkpoint area. The airport staff is friendly and helpful i came here for a job interview so the airport is hiring for many different positions. If I ever need a flight out I might consider flying out of Mesa Gateway instead of Sky Harbor depending on where I'm going. read more

I've been in and out of here a few times. It's a super small airport which Allegiant flies out of and it's closer to my place than Sky Harbor by about an hour so that's nice. This trip TSA was a total cluster though, and it took forever to get through. Normally at a smaller airport you don't feel the need to get there a full two hours before your flight but if you're flying out of here it might not be a bad idea as it's hit and miss on getting to your gate in a timely manner. read more

I'm picking up or flying out of this airport a few times a year, with one of its airlines flying directly to multiple key spots for us and our families., it's a great alternative to Sky Harbor for out family, location and business wise. Though the airport overall is not specifically impressive or stocked with many amenities, it does cover the basics and is easy to efficiently move through. We flew out recently and every single person from check in, to security was so friendly. It was such a pleasant and easy experience. We made it to our gate in next to no time. The have a few shops and limited restaurants, Panera being a main one, so not a place to lounge or hang out long before flights, but with their airline partners, I'm not sure you'd ever have to worry about it and though I'm not recommending cutting it close, if you're exclusively carrying on, you could be from door to gate in under 5 minutes. We have used their parking and transfer bus before as well. Long term parking is super affordable and the shuttle was easy peasy. It's not a bad little airport that serves the Phoenix metro area. The airport itself is clean and the staff is friendly. They offer limited flights to limited cities. There is a Panera and two little stores for food/snacks. There are no boarding tunnels, so you have to go outside and walk up steps or ramp to board the airplane. It wasn't a horrible experience, but honestly, I don't forsee flying out of there again. read more

Smaller airport which is less hassle and more convenient if you fly with any other budget airline such as Swoop, Flair, Sun County and West Jet. The problem is most of these airline have destination going to Canada, but if you're heading back from Canada and needed to transfer to your connecting flights which located at the Phoenix International airport, you picked the wrong place. You have to self transfer either by public transit or rent a car or ride share, not very ideal especially if you have deadline, and to get to the other airport it takes 40 minutes plus traffic if you're not lucky. I ended calling a few shuttles which they said I had to book 24 hrs in advance, so I called Lyft, and I made it out on time. I've been to this airport a few times in the past year as it's closer to my house on the east valley. Signage is positioned well of where to drop off and pick up. There's not a huge long wait for people like you'd experience at Sky Harbour. Plenty of parking and a nice little airport. read more

Overall impressed with this airport. Ray economy parking was super easy and only cost $7 a day. Shuttle driver wore mask and was still friendly with assisting with bags. I flew a direct flight to Omaha. Price was good though Allegiant. They had mask at TSA checkpoints in case you forgot. Getting through security. Once through security there are bathrooms and resturants/bars. Also area for pet relief and smoking. Separate courtyard was also available to dine or get fresh air. I went out there for 20 minutes before my flight which was such a relief because I could take off my mask for awhile before putting it back on. I loved this airport even if it is small and only has 10 gates. I'm kicking myself for flying Sun Country and not using this airport! Easy to fly in and fly out. Perfect "Everything store" before you leave and clean restrooms. I was even able to eat outside before I left for my flight. Obviously noisy due to planes on the runway BUT worth it to soak up those last minutes of sunshine in the winter! This brewery had excellent drinks and the best sandwich! I highly recommend. This airport is pretty far if your not in the Mesa area. It's smaller as well. I believe Allegiant airlines is popular here. Uber is not allowed to drop off here and pick up. Lyft is only able to pick up and drop off. read more

What an awesome small airport serving the East Valley! The overnight airport parking is easy to access and has a reasonable cost. The airport area is low key with almost no traffic and congestion, like the PHX airport often has. Also, this airport is super dog friendly which I love. While you wait for your flight, you can hangout in the outdoor park/courtyard area that has a convenient doggie relief area. All the TSA and gate staff were also very nice. You cannot fly everywhere from the airport, but it can get you to some major cities, and the flight options only seem to be increasing as we continue further into 2021. read more

My first time arriving & going out of this airport. I love how small it is! Makes everything easier in my opinion. When we arrived at this airport it was around 3:50pm on a Saturday. Quite a few people but wasn't packed! Plenty of parking outside. We did however had to wait a while to get out daughters car seat, as you can see we literally got off the airplane from outside where the planes land! So that was a really cool experience. Leaving this airport around 2 weeks later however was super annoying. At least when It came to TSA! We had to take every little thing out, that we didn't have to at Oakland Airport!! Like we basically emptied out everything! It was crazy. The guy was kind of a douche too! Other than that, we had a great flight arriving & departing. Staff was friendly other than that one TSA, wish I got his name. I like this airport better than Sky Harbor but the extra 30 mins drive was definitely sucky. Great little regional airport with one larger airline (Allegiant) offering national destinations to other smaller airports. The airport is very clean, laid out well and very easy to navigate. There are car rental options located inside the airport for reservations. The rental lot is a short walk outside of the main airport terminal. Staff seems friendly and willing to help. I believe Uber is not allowed to drop off curbside so you may want to check that out before ordering a ride share service. Lyft may be an option. There's a restaurant on site if you're hungry and stations to grab snacks or magazines. Plenty of seating and easy to keep social distancing during COVID. When I arrived there were less than 10 people in the main airport lobby. I would imagine flight traffic is relatively low during pandemic. The airports web site offers updates on how they are accommodating passengers and visitors during COVID. Make sure to check there as a few things have changed. Allegiant is an interesting airline. Very a la cart and so tickets may seem affordable at first but add up quickly if you want a non-middle seat, want to carry on or check a bag, want a snack, etc. I do like that I can fly into smaller airports and avoid the high traffic places like Chicago it Atlanta. read more

Food sellers some you get a portion of the menu item description for a expensive price, only to be hungry and disappointed on board while eating what you expected to be a filling and tasty breakfast..So read the menus and ask ?'s so your bag of meal you just paid for, and brought on board is what you expected. If it's not, next flight, buy your bag of meal at a different food place in the concourse. TSA is in need of management KAZA improvements. and a limited array of places for breakfast or lunch.
