Seats are decent, but not great. The speakers were set to be too loud and the staff did not seem all too happy. Furthermore, there are draconian like rules quite heavily presented and constantly running around by the waitstaff, to the point of distracting. It's appreciated that there's no chance to hear small chatter because of the deafeningly loud amplifiers, but at the cost of ear drums, I might prefer hearing my neighbors passing judgement on a character, or my friends prediction, if need be. It's certainly a beautiful interior worth admiring, but with higher end prices, and a bittersweet setup, I might end up going back to normal theaters where I buy the popcorn and soda during the previews and make it work. read more

The Alamo upped the bar to an insane high in my book. The truffle popcorn made perfect company with the delicious cocktails from the bar down stairs. They truly care about a wholesome movie experience, there were no crying babies or people scrolling in their phones. Plus the movies that were showing BLEW my mind. Highly recommended read more

I've been here a few times for various exclusive private screenings. Tonight when I attended it in ordering there was a problem with the server I asked for a simple thing. A glass of Water. I asked for it right when I sat down and then wrote in on the order card again after the screening started everyone else had what they asked for. I didn't go to staff or management because I didn't have the servers name or employee badge number. I hate to sound snobby but I do in fact part own 2 restaurants so I'm very sensitive to how a dining service is supposed to run and how to do it properly. I also didn't say anything because once the screening had started I didn't want to talk and quite literally make a scene. Yes I realize that I'm coming off a little strong but I was really thirsty read more

I came here to see "Get Out". I must say my overall experience was great. The chairs was nice and comfy. We sat in the front row and had no problem seeing the movie. The service was great both at the front desk where we reserved our seats and the lady who served our food. We ordered popcorn, hot dogs, fries, wings and drinks (free refills). The food was delicious. Nothing like your typical movie theater food. My fiance ordered an alcoholic beverage called "the brooklyn" which he enjoyed. Can't wait to go back again. read more

I really like this place, and I'm looking forward to the reopening. I have brought my family here for various movies, and everyone has always enjoyed it. The food is pretty good, and that's what a place like this should be shooting for. The drinks are sometimes very good, though a little pricey. The ordering system works surprisingly well.On a small menu they still manage to cater to a variety of dietary needs. And the movies they show run a much wider range than typical movie theaters. As they say, if this is the kind of place you like, you'll like this place. read more

The theater was clean and the seats were comfortable. I enjoyed the experience overall, but I have a few critiques! The bathroom needs to be tended to more frequently and the papers at the tables need to be numbered, so the servers/runners will know where to bring the orders. read more

Looking forward to coming all week, I made sure reservations were made. Looking at pictures the experience is exactly that. Now as soon as you walk in expect to go up some escalators which is not bad at all. They all worked lol. The theater seemed small, however it had more that one theaters on their building. It was cozy and host right size to snuggle up or just chill with who ever you decide to share the experience with. Hostess I lntroduced herself she was very nice and pleasant. She explained how to order. Now the rules they are very strict, so please take all pictures before the movie starts and after it's finished. The don't operate taking or cell phones seriously or they kick ou out with no refund. This was hilarious, it's about time a business mean business. You pay for what get nice quite and fun experience. We both had the Rose wine which was good and something chips and cheese (it's spicy). Bill wasn't bad at all, this does not include in movie tickets. I had great experience in Brooklyn ...BK all day. I'm definitely recommending this theater for ppl to come check and I'll be back. Oh BtW what was really dope movie lovers they have old school movies when I say old I mean they must found these movies in old Hollywood. Scary , Drama, etc I guess the hame specific nights. Love love love. Dope theater !!! read more

Alamo Drafthouse - We Drank champagne and enjoyed our double Date Nite watching Get Out ! - Cinema Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

We've been to three movies here already. We had really great service - quick and got everything we ordered - in all three. Loved the seats. Loved the movies we saw. I have read some of the negative reviews, but we experienced none of these issues at all. Give this place a shot! read more

Ever since we got a dine-in theater in Brooklyn, I was excited but wary. However, I absolutely enjoy Alamo Drafthouse! I love to order food during and before the movies, lean back, and watch the movie on a huge screen while still feeling like I'm home. Food was good and for a fun movie experience I would definitely recommend it. Just don't be late - but that rule totally makes sense! I really do love it, very comfortable and great experience. read more

You can tell this place is still going through its growing pains. This isn't the only dine in theatre in Brooklyn, but they have a lot to do to get the level of some of the other dine in theatres. For one, the menu is massive and you take more time trying to pick out what you want than you do actually eating it. I've ordered meals with fries several times, and more than once, the fries were stale or cold. Also, the staff is so intrusive. They should be able to take an order without getting in people's way or being so loud. Just take the paper and go. The overall look of the place is really cool, and they do have some awesome events featuring some of the stars and directors of the movies. I hope to be able to update my review to more stars, it for now, I've got to stingy on my stars until the staff improves. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews!! Best movie theater around. Affordable ticket price, good food, good drinks, great bar to hit before the movie! Try the moscow mule, flatbreads and steak sandwich. No need to say the popcorn is the bomb! Soo gooood read more

It seems like these guys are still working a few kinks out of their system. Every time I've been, there have been issues but they've always made good on them. I appreciate the effort. The main problem with this place is the center seats are so much better than the rest. If you can't get a seat in the center, you're arching your neck or sitting sideways in your seat. read more

extremely rude staff at guest services. to start with, they had changed our seats without letting us know and so we were not able to sit with our group of friends. we were not able to resolve our seating issue because we were additionally being rushed to go into the theater because they have a "door closing" policy and no one can enter the theater after the doors are closed. which means, our friend who arrived only 7 minutes after us missed the movie and lost $17. this policy is outrageous consider there is staff walking in and out of the rows delivering food, which is extremely distracting. once in the theater, we felt uncomfortable with the amount of strict rules we had to comply by. our popcorn, stale, cold and barely palatable was $9. overall, will not be returning nor do i recommend it. read more

I went here for my first movie and meal tonight and really enjoyed myself overall. My boyfriend and I reserved our seats online earlier in the day and walked in early enough to get a quick run down from the waitress on how everything worked. She was really nice and took our order quickly. The drinks and pretzels were a great start. I ended up getting the Caesar salad and my bf got the steak sandwich. My salad was a little took soggy in my opinion when I got it even though the service was pretty quick. My bf also felt his steak sandwich was a little undercooked but enjoyed it overall. I would definitely go back and try some other meal options. It's a nice option to change up a movie night. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I love Alamo. We try to go every Friday! The sweet Thai chili wings are by far the best wings I've ever had. The Parmesan truffle popcorn is delicious and the refills are half price. I also recommend the fountain sodas that are free refills. read more

Theater is beautiful. Love the fact that you can reserve your seats. The House of Wax bar is quite interesting to say the least. Feel like it's a place you visit once and get over it. Definitely a great place to see a film. Food on the other hand, not so great. Mediocre at best. Go to Nitehawk instead for a more intimate feel and way better food. read more

Horrible experience, we arrived early for a free movie screening and we were turned away because it was far too many people at the theater. The staff was needlessly cold when they turned us away. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at Alamo Drafthouse. I'm going to take my business elsewhere. I really liked this theater too, what a shame. read more

Nice dine in theatre for $15 movie tickets. The food prices were way better and tastier then your average AMC or Regal. They served nice restaurant quality food that didn't break the bank. read more

Took my mom here on a date. She really loved the comfort of the theater and it's many conveniences. Beer was a little over priced, toilets were fairly clean and functioning. All in all it was a great time and we'll go back. read more

Listen up...another nice movie venue in Bk. Clean with huge screens and terrific sound. On the plus side: no nuisance ads, instead pretty informative pre-screening tidbits. Personally I'd rather get my own popcorn. Here there's seating plus tables and servers who bring your order. Hmmm, innovative yet, an unnecessary contrivance that is intrusive since even while the movie is running, so is the serve staff up and down the aisles. Leather seats comfy but not after a 2-hr movie. I actually prefer typical adjustable movie seats and, if I wanted a table I'd rather go to one of the many restaurants in the area. Check it out anyway! read more

I don't know if I can ever see a movie elsewhere ever again. The no texting or talking rules alone make it worthwhile. Great app, reserved seats, table service. Perfection. read more

I've been a fan of Alamo Drafthouse in Austin for years, and was so excited when it opened in Brooklyn. I've been to it a handful of times now, though, and the same problems always come up. It often takes 45 minutes or more for food to arrive after we order. When we try to order something midway through the film, the order is never even picked up. Orders are sometimes brought out incomplete--I had to ask twice for a mug to go with my pot of tea, and then wait for 20 minutes, at which point two different people brought me two mugs. The theater itself is lovely and comfortable, and I LOVE the strictly enforced no talking policy--but having to flag servers down to ask for things they forgot and wondering if my order is going to arrive before the movie ends is a major distraction from the film. I'd rather stick to concession stand popcorn and be able to enjoy the movie. Add to that the really limited menu and I'm underwhelmed and disappointed. The service in Austin is flawless, and I'm not sure why they don't adopt some of the same systems. I get that it takes time to iron out kinks, but I don't see any evidence of that happening here. read more

I've waited ten years for Alamo Drafthouse to get to NYC and by the time it does, it's ruined by the plague of dine in theaters, the worst thing to happen to movies since cell phones. The draw of Alamo for me is the no talking/no cell phone policy, as well as the interesting programming they occasionally have. But now that it's become a dine in, your film experience is constantly interrupted. Lights under the table are constantly on (and brighter then the ones over at Nitehawk), and whenever someone places a shiny menu under the table you get a nice flash of light. People whisper to each other while looking at menus, they comment when their food arrives (especially since Alamo attempts to do some interesting looking food and drinks at times), they spend ten minutes shuffling in their bags when the bill comes, they pull out their cell phone flashlights when they can't find their wallets. No individual distraction goes on long enough to ask to have someone talked to but it all adds up to so much continual distraction that you're better off braving the texting masses. read more

This place is fine if you live in the neighborhood (ticket prices are comparable to other NYC theatres), but it wasn't as cool of an experience as I would've hoped. At least not worth the 40minute commute on my end. My southwest bowl was also served cold, and not very good :/ If I ever end up here again I would just eat somewhere else beforehand but def get the truffle popcorn here! My movie also seemed weirdly loud... Though I'm not taking a star off for that bc it's probably just because I'm getting old and crabby read more

They've definitely improved since they first open. Seats are comfortable, food is good and a solid beer selection. Prices are a little high, but that's to be expected. Still don't recommend going around dinner or lunch- people's silverware can be distracting. But a late night movie or an afternoon showing is perfect; most people are just getting finger food to snack on. read more

Went for the second time last night to give the place another shot after a mediocre experience for Wonder Woman. That time, the Thai Chili wings had basically no meat and my friend's plain margherita flatbread had so much spice (which went completely unmentioned on the menu) that she couldn't eat it. Friends subsequently had told me to give it another chance, that it had settled into a groove and the food had improved. Pancetta mac & cheese: cold, rubbery, came with a SPOON, and what little cheese there was was concentrated in the middle (leaving most of the noodles bare and disgusting). The leeks were also gross and completely the wrong flavor. I almost sent it back (and I NEVER do that). Truffle Parmesan popcorn: again, what little seasoning there was was concentrated in the center and not distributed to all of the popcorn (which was also cold). The drinks were fine but not super strong. The cookie flight was okay. For the price of the movie and the menu items, this place is absolutely not worth it. Go to Nitehawk - the food's LEAGUES better and you'll have a much better movie experience. read more

Alamo draft house was one of the reasons we even signed our lease in the building next door in addition to all the shops that were promised to open in 2016 and not opened! We loved it in Austin as a place to watch some old classics, private screenings and just cheap movies. We were poor college kids back then so we rarely ordered food and drinks. I'm saying this because this review is kind of biased due to nostalgia. We went to the theater twice during the weekday -once for their soft opening and another time a few weeks after that. We got 50% off the first time and 15% off food and drinks the second as they worked out their kinks. Their kinks were surely big the first time. They forgot to take our order, delivered our drinks late and forgot my friend's food. The bill also took forever to come after the movie was long done. We were definitely less than happy even with 50% off. The staff was apologetic though. The second time was much better. Everything ran extremely smoothly and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Food is not bad for what it is. The tacos are awesome, but I've had better Tex Mex. Prices are not cheap, but this is New York. We spent around $80 even with the 15% off for two including food, regular movie tickets, but no booze. People complain about the seats and I don't find them bothering me, but I'm tiny so that's relative. The bar is also a great addition to the area and we definitely need to check it out. The wax museum is outright creepy and uncomfortable to me though so I don't know how I would feel drinking there, but it might be your thing. If you enjoy movies, you will definitely appreciate the thought they put in for decor as well. Note, they won't let you in once the movie starts and they have a no talking policy so don't be disruptive. read more

I truly love this theater. It's the same price as other theaters but the experience is way better. The recliner seating is comfortable. I love the strict policy of no talking or texting. I didn't have to worry about bright phone lights shining in my face. The food menu had lots of options to choose from (appetizers, entrees, dessert, alcohol, milkshakes, etc.). Furthermore, the food is catered to you. Every seat has a table to eat from. I will certainly watch more movies at the Alamo. read more

Horrible food + watery and expensive drinks. Same experience in the 3 times I've gone over the last 4 months. BUT, they have amazing popcorn, I will give them that read more

You're not getting top of the line technology (video or sound) but it's good. The no tolerance for texting and talking is the best thing in the world though. Most NYC theaters have awful and disrespectful crowds, especially when it's a wide-release blockbuster movie. This cineplex stacks up there with indie theaters, etc. read more

The Alamo really changed the way I go to the movies. First off, the theaters themselves are fantastic, nice seats, plenty of legroom. Secondly, I love the way they do food delivery, the servers are like ninjas coming by with your popcorn and drinks. The Alamo is my go-to theater from now on. read more

Brooklyn has become so fancy. And the Alamo Drafthouse is a part of the "new Brooklyn." However, I was pleased to see a diverse crowd, and the customer service was good. Maybe too good. If you are ordering food and drinks, the attentive wait staff who peak in frequently is a nice perk. But if you aren't ordering food and drinks, it is distracting. For that reason, Court Street 12 and BAM Rose Cinemas will still be my main go-to theaters, but I'm glad we have another movie theater option in downtown Brooklyn. read more

I've been going to the Yonkers location exclusively for movies since they opened. Since Brooklyn is easier to get to, I was really looking forward to this place. The lobby area is a bit small and the kiosks weren't working, so we had to get our tickets from the guest services counter, no big deal. I really like Brooklyn's photo opp area much more than Yonkers, so I had fun taking a few photos there. The theater themselves are nice. There are tables in the middle of every 2 seats, unlike Yonkers and some other Alamo locations that have a large bar across the aisle. The food was good, I got the pancetta mac and cheese, but I was a bit disappointed by the food options. There's not much there. No pizza, no burgers, no chicken strips, some adult shakes are missing. I'm hoping this is a bit of a training menu and it will expand soon, because while I liked what I ordered, I wish there was more to choose from. We had no problems at all during our showing. The food came out on time and we received our 15% off discount for training. I had a great time today and I will sure to be back many, many times. I'm willing to be a bit understanding right now and hopefully they improve everything going forward. read more

The only negative thing about the Alamo is that you'll never want to go to any of the larger cinema chains again. It's like choosing between flying first class on an amazing airline versus economy on a super saver budget regional one where you have to sit on top of your luggage for 5 hours, both for the same price! You actually feel welcomed here; the service, the attention to detail, the quality of the screening, all of it flawless. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Alamo is like a cute cozy and petite version of iPic theaters. Although the seating didn't recline, they were comfortable. It was clean and the waiters and waitresses were pleasant. I ordered the Asian salmon salad and to be honest, it was the best salad I probably ever had in my entire life. The hot chocolate was a hit too! The only complaint I had was that my cousin had waited approx 30mins for her food to arrive which consisted of hummus and chips. Overall, I Would definitely come here again to avoid those iPic prices. read more

I've always known of the Austin location and was excited when I heard one was opening here. Saw Wonder Woman. Had the best buffalo wings I've ever eaten...maybe it's an Austin carryover thing (very crispy, great-tasting sauce, large)? But...the standout is the draft house draft menu...if you want it, they got it. Even my beloved Catskill Brewery select is there. Brand new seats set up perfectly...you're not aware that there's a server around you just when you need them. Haven't had this good of a time since my visit to The Electric in Notting Hill. read more

I went here on opening weekend to see the Handmaiden. I was very impressed by the bar attached to the theater, with the House of Wax displays. They were very elegant and interesting. The theater itself was spacious and clean, and it was nice that you can reserve seats online. The menu seemed ok. My complaint is with the wait staff. I was starving, and ordered food and a drink as soon as I sat down. Food started arriving quickly to all the people around me, but after about 40 minutes into the film, after I sat through all of my neighbors finishing their meals, mine still had not arrived. I rewrote my order and placed it in the rail for them to pick up. Three waiters passed without their picking up the order. My food never came and I ended up just walking out of the theater. Get it together guys. read more

I was very pleased with my experience here. I've been to one other theater like this, (Nitehawk), which I love, but I kind of felt like the program here is a little more fun and unique. The concept is the same -- order food and drinks from an actual menu, while watching a movie, however I loved how Alamo had so many specials, including a handful of food items and drinks that were inspired and themed based on the movie we were watching. That was a really fun touch. The theater was clean, seats were comfy, and the food was tasty. I'll have to go back and have a drink at the House of Wax bar that's attached. I also love this location because of all the other great things housed in the same building... Trader Joe's, the best Target ever, Century 21, and the amazing food hall downstairs.... I might has well just see if I can rent an apartment somewhere in there because this is probably where I'll be spending all my time from here on out! read more

WARNING!!! DO NOT buy tickets from Fandango for Alamo Drafthouse. My wife and I bought tickets for a 6:20 showing of Sing Tuesday night. I'm a fan of Alamo, but if you're late and denied entry like my pregnant wife and I did, Alamo cannot refund your money because tickets were bought from a third-party and Fandango won't refund you because of course, I asked for a refund after the fact which was past the showtime, per their policy. Granted, we were about to be brought up, but once the opening credits began, the employee got word to deny us entry. Because of that split second, we missed out on the movie AND lost our money. WHAT A SCAM! read more
