The Rhino Comedy Club in Suffren, New York is a gem…read more I've been doing open-mic standup comedy there for about 10 months as well as other venues. Rhino Comedy is the best place I've been and I keep going back It's a semi-small club but can hold about 30 people. Open-mics are pretty packed and usually 15-25 comedians perform. There are also always a few paying guests who go just to watch. If you want to PRACTICE your ACT, Rhino is the place to go. Standup comedy is an art form that can't exist without an AUDIENCE and you get at Rhino, always. There's a comedy contest once a month. If you win you get paid to perform on a Saturday night. The staff are all very friendly and local. The owner, Maria, knows her stuff and is nurturing to new talent. Rhino also offers comedy classes if you want to attend before you try going up yourself or you just want to hone your skills. There is always ample parking on the street, 22 Lafayette Ave, never further than a 1 minute walk to Rhino. The outside of the club is small and unassuming but once you go up the stairs, the club opens up and the atmosphere is impressive and beautiful. Inside Rhino, all the walls are various hues of purplish and red. There are paintings and murals of Rhinoceri. Fantastic music: jazzy funky covers of famous songs you'll download from itunes after. The bathrooms are spotless and and fresh. Pleasure. At the bar there's beer, cocktails, coffee, etc. Affordable, tasty and generous portions of foods: mozzarella sticks, salads, pizzas, pigs in a blanket, buffalo wings, etc. all baked in a home oven. Free popcorn. Cute shiny little retro red refrigerator behind the bar. Small bar stools while you are waiting to perform or socialize after the show. If you're an aspiring standup comedian or want to watch some good comedy, GO here! -Open mics every Thursday at 8pm. Also Saturday after the main show at 10:00pm! Thanks Rhino!

My only complaint is that many of the people were rude and disruptive during the show and nobody that worked there regulated. They were very disrespectful to the comedians and clearly had never been at a show. I would revisit and hope the crowd is more civilized next time.

Great concert but I had to leave for a few in middle to get a fan because I thought l was going to pass out. Bathroom design from the 80s I guess, huge bathroom with many stalls for men and 1 man in there and women's bathroom smaller only a few stalls and a line of 30 women like why can't they redesign this? One small heat pump a/c hanging on the wall in back of the theater with hundreds of people crammed in soaking wet with sweat. It's great beyond that but it's like they're practicing to be a theater. Ate at the Mexican restaurant there beforehand which food was okay average not bad, very convenient and they had a/c but theater was a mess it was hot before concert even started.

There's a Mexican restaurant and Tavern right next door, which are nice amenities. There was also plenty of parking and the outside was well lit. The Theater itself felt brand new. It was super modern and clean. There was a small bar with various drinks. As far as food, I only saw candy and chips listed. Water was also $4 and came in an environmentally friendly bottle. Bathrooms were downstairs, which wasn't an issue for me but could be for someone with limited mobility. If you have limited mobility and plan on visiting, I would call to ensure the restrooms can be accessed. The room where the musicians perform is large and there is a small seating area upstairs, which is a different, more expensive ticket. I did see about 5 or 6 stools downstairs for those who need to sit. Unfortunately, the main act was unable to perform but the theater did send out an email several hours before the show started to let guests know their options so that was appreciated. Overall, it's a really nice venue for a show!

This is a Must every time we come to NYC, and we have shared the experience with friends, who end up loving it as much as we do. We've been to different time shows and no matter which it's always a great time. All comedians performing always bring their A-Game and have us laughing all night long. To the point that we are repeating jokes the next day and still laughing. You get to see at least 5 different comedians, and sometimes even "bigger names" show up trying out new material, or just because they're in town. Reservations are really recommended, especially if you are visiting, as it does get sold out, and even thought there's a wait-list line, it get's sold out quick and not guaranteed you will get in. And, believe me, this is not something you want to miss. I just got back and can't wait for my next time there!

We were so glad to get in via standby list for a Saturday 1045p show! We didn't have a reservation…read more STANDBY: We had just missed the 9p show and only 2 people were successful via standby. A guy at the door said people usually line up a little before one hour before the show to get on the list and staff members come at one hour before. I got in line (first in line lol) at 9p and people really started lining up around ~930p. The staff came around 945 to allow us to scan the QR code (must present ID) to reserve a spot in line. You only need one person per party to scan the QR code. He told us to come back at 1045 (no need to be in an ordered line) to see if our names would be called. After they let in people with reservations they returned to the standby line. I'd say maybe ~12 people got in that time. The staff member said people usually have more standby success for later shows. THE SHOW: The show was spectacular. They understandably ask that you put your phones or Apple Watches in a sealed envelope that you keep with you during the show. We saw five acts - 3 were strong, 2 were weaker. The weaker 2 didn't bomb but we just didn't enjoy as much. There is a cover charge + 2 item minimum per person. The item can be food or a nonalcoholic beverage, so no worries if you don't drink alcohol. Service was good. It's a cramped space but not uncomfortable and I think there's really no bad seat in the house. Such a fun night. :)
