    Bam Cafe Live

BAMCafe is super cool....Actually, I just really like coming to BAM (movie theater, auditoriums to see live shows etc.) and their cafe is just another one of the interesting places to visit. Once I take the escalator upstairs and approach BAMCafe, I use a minute to take in the ambiance. The bar area is located towards the back near the escalator, followed by a mini art exhibit, multiple tables and chairs for dining), a small couch area on the right hand side closer to the stage (gives the place a semi-lounge feel), the stage and the bathrooms are located behind the stage area. Inner decor is really special at BAMCafe as the walls have a brick - like structure, there are decorative lighting fixrures in the windows and the overall lighting/color aesthetic is gorgeous. Recently, the BAMCafe Live Series has been quite entertaining. It is a free live music showcase featuring different types of music. BAMCafe Live has been taking place on Friday + Saturday nights at 9pm. Pleasurable does not begin to describe my experience as I have been going several weeks in a row to enjoy BAMCafe' s live music itinerary filled with great bands. Baraji is a Korean Music Group that blended the use of musical instruments and singing to give a lovely performance. Alvin Flythe and his band served the crowd with spectacular Jazz Music and Arthur Russell Concert last night was wonderful. Staff here at BAMCAFE enforce strict rules such as where you can stand etc, to ensure everyone's safety. The bar staff try their best to get you your order in a timely manner (it gets very busy w/ customers during live music nights). The happy hour is from 6 -8pm but one can get a alcoholic/ non-alcolohic beverage for the duration. I have only had a glass of juice which was $3.50. The DJ is there and plays an excellent selection of music before and after the live band performances. He keeps the party going from the beginning to the end!

Can't believe I've never written about BAMCafe! This has been a great spot for a long time now, especially the free events they have on many a Friday and/or Saturday night, but even for the pay ones as well. Beautiful during the day ornight, it gets packed for the free night concerts so get there early if you want a seat facing the stage. Even if you're not though, the tunes carry through to the back couches where you can chill with a friend or three or with that special someone. This is also a great first date spot. The drinks aren't cheap, but, they are strong - which I like! Come check it out, but don't steal my seat!

This venue is beautiful! They host a variety of events including films, performances, comedy sketches, and FREE live music. BAM Cafe is located on the second floor of the Peter Jay Sharp Building and is opened Friday and Saturday nights (6pm-11pm). Last night (Friday 9pm), White Prism performed some of their catchy, breathy synth-pop songs. The audience were all nodding to the beat, some even stood up to shake their shoulders! I can't believe this was a free performance! At 8pm, around the time we arrived, the tables were about half occupied. By 9pm, they were all filled. So my recommendation? Come early, take a seat, have a drink, and enjoy the ambiance :)

Disgusting facility. Super dirty. Snooty employees and ultra crowded place with little to no room to enjoy yourself. Will not return.

Expect a 20 minute wait before your order card is picked up, and your sad and cold plate of food to arrive 30 minutes after that accompanied by the wrong drink. Also, I've been here dozens of times since this theater opened and the bathrooms have been out of order every single time I've gone. (Pro tip: use the mall restrooms in the basement before you arrive.) It's a shame. This theater used to be simply amazing (I would have given it 5 stars 5 years ago) but has gone so far downhill in the past few years I now only come here as a last resort. Hopefully they'll "shake up" the management soon and hire someone who knows what they're doing. Would love to be a customer again!

Upon exiting the elevator they make you feel like you enter "paradise", do some tarot card reading by asking for your birthdate, and then get some beads with perfume dropped on them depending on which card you got. After all of that, none of those stuff mattered. We were served a three course meal before the actual aerobics show happened, but they still had performers perform while we had our meals or a few drinks. I enjoyed their Crescent Dip, which is a hummus dip with whipped feta and comes with a massive chip. The Full Moon Rice I wasn't really a fan of. After those two, they came out with the entree, which they called Fire, Water, Earth; essentially beet, halibut, and short rib. These were alright, not amazing. The third and final course came during the intermission of the show, which was a bunch of dessert treats and they were delicious. The show itself was fantastic. It was more than just aerobics, has there are also singing, dancing, and violinist. You may get wet in the front so FYI. There's also some fire involved. Overall, a well put together show. I'd probably skip the food, but the drinks were great.

(I'm assuming the grub came from the trattoria above us.) Lots of flavor, a few entrée options to pick from (made ahead of time) to appease any preferences or dietary restrictions. My only issue was whoever was working the salad station was entirely too heavy-handed with the sliced radishes. Ease up on those next time, partner. The show: exactly what you probably expect/fear/need/want - equal parts goofy and interesting, ridiculous and intriguing. It's well thought out, constructed and paced. (We were 'warned' from the start - how much 'we' put into it is what we'd be getting back out and that's legit... some people were completely "in it" and you could tell they loved every second of the adventure, whereas my in-laws started to fade after about 90 minutes.) I should fess up I was positive my "thinking outside of the box" was going to snag me the win but I completely flubbed and it's safe to assume my final guess was the WORST one of the night. (Some advice: pay attention to ALL the clues. Don't try to be too damn clever or it'll bite you in the rump!) The three hours went by smoothly... lots of laughs, lots of interacting with the other diners (suspects!) as well as the actors and before you knew it - crimes were being solved, tabs were being closed and it was time to head back into the cruel streets of the city that never sleeps. Biggest issue (aside from the radishes!) - parking, of course. (A few blocks away was the only option and that added another $50+ to an already expensive night.) We were a party of seven (which is how many were seated per table) and I think we would've had an even better time had we been split up or went as a smaller group (so we could mix-and-match with other people, including the performers). Most definitely worth checking out if you're out for some fun that can appease (older) teens to their grandparents.

You can tell they really try not to distract the audience, which I really appreciate. If I had to point out a con, it's the seating. It's definitely not as plush or comfortable as the big chain theaters like AMC. But in a way, it adds to Nitehawk's charm as more of a family owned business. However, if I'm going in for a three-hour major film, I definitely prefer a comfier setup. I've been here watching a big Marvel film in the past, and the vibe doesn't match for me personally.
