I don't think I've had Kibbie before but man, what a dish, esp with the rice pilaf which is nothing like what you get out of a box. My dining companion was very pleased with her shish kabab and tea, and we ended the meal with cardamom-infused Arabic coffee, which looks like an espresso but tastes like spiced coffee, as it should. No milk needed, nor should you add it, as our server reminded us. All in all, a great meal, albeit on the expensive side. Thanks to the couple we met at the Nitehawk who recommended this place! The interior is warm and feels cozy with candles and ambient lighting. Service was friendly and quick and my water glass was never empty. I really enjoyed the food. What we ordered: Falafel: 8/10 perfectly crispy and delicious Brussels sprouts: 8/10 loved the sauce on this. I've never had brussels sprouts like this before but I really liked it. It was creamy and rich Kafta kabob: 9/10 soo flavorful! Comes with rice and tomato salad. The rice was the perfect texture and the salad was a refreshing bite.

They offer a variety of coffees, teas, cold drinks, sandwiches, toasts, salads, small bites, pastries, and brunch items (weekends only). We tried the shakshuka and lamb haneeth sandwich. Both were delicious, and I would recommend them both. The shakshuka is served with two slices of crispy and fresh toast. The shakshuka is served warm with three eggs topped with goat cheese. The lamb sandwich was very flavorful and served on crispy toasted bread with French fries. I can't wait to go back and try all of their other items. I would also recommend their orange blossom lemonade. It's very aromatic with a hint of sweetness. Service: Staff are so pleasant and welcoming. There is a server who brings you your food and clears your empty dishes after eating. Ambiance: The cafe is not big, but they have a good number of tables in the front and back of the cafe. Not ideal for large groups. The decor and ambiance is very nice and homey. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this cafe!

Great spot in Sunset Park.

This place has been around for like 20 years I think and I've been wanting to try it. Did not disappoint! Soon as you walk in, you're greeted-- could be by manager, server or even a patron!-- and welcomed to sit wherever you'd like (IF space is available). Menus are brought to you and you're promptly served a large flat bread, their signify soup (which I thought was lentil, but I may be wrong) and some salsa. And a couple lemon wedges. Pro-tip: eat with an open heart - squeeze the lemon in the soup to brighten it up, go ahead and dip the pita in the salsa, drink the soup right out of the bowl-- there aren't the "rules" of traditional western dining here. We ordered the chicken haneeth but asked for no rice, shish kabob, hummus and babaghanoush. The chicken was perfect- flavorful, not too tangy, and the meat was tender. By itself, I enjoyed the hummus more (between the two dips) but once we started eating with the entrees, I thought the babaganoush really came to life. We also squeezed some lemon on the dips to brighten them up. Yemeni hummus is more tahini-rich than some other variations, which I finds benefits from some lemon splash. Of course they gave us more pita when our mains arrived :) The manager was a really nice man! We felt welcomed and our business valued-- really was one of my favorite things about the restaurant. You can grab some traditional sweet tea at the counter after your meal.

We got complimentary soup which was made of lamb stock so beware if that is not your cup of tea, salad and bread. They also have complimentary tea in the back with your choice of milk. I got the chicken haneeth. The rice was delicious. The chicken piece was very small in comparison to the photos online. The grilled chicken was very tasty and fresh. It took longer than expected to get the food so they must prepare everything fresh!

There was a steady line and while most people ordered takeout, I noticed the tables in the back were all occupied as well. I ordered a za'atar and cheese manakeesh ($4) again, a small ful medames ($8), a small chicken shawarma plate ($14), and fresh taboon bread ($2.75) and the total came out to $29. All this food fed three people comfortably, though I would definitely order an extra taboon bread next time as we could not get enough of how fluffy and soft the bread was. The ful medames was so warming and cozy and the chicken shawarma came with rice, salad, pickles, and three different sauces (we especially loved the toum and the hot sauce).

They start you off with fresh pita that's warm, soft, and constantly replenished throughout the meal. The muhammara was the standout. I honestly could have eaten multiple orders of it as my entire meal, though that probably wouldn't have been the most balanced choice. It was rich, slightly sweet, full of flavor, and perfect with the pita. The spicy kefta mashawy and mixed shawarma platter were also excellent, with tender, well-seasoned meat across the board. One thing to note: the portions are larger than they make them sound. We were told certain dishes were meant for one person, but the shawarma platter could easily feed two, so we ended up over-ordering a bit. Still, everything was delicious, and Ayat is a great spot to check out if you're in Industry City.

Ayat came up in our search and decided to go there. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday night and there were no tables available for the entire night. The watermelon feta salad, falafels, chicken + beef shawarma plate and a salad. Everything was AH-MAZING! The salads were tasty, the hummus was balanced so well and creamy. The falafels were seasoned perfectly and the same for the shawarma plate. Each meat was seasoned so well and juicy. The menu is large, so it was hard to select what we'd have; I think for our first time, we did a good job. I look forward to going back and trying new things!
