Al-Pastor is my favorite food truck and Mexican food. One of my favorites is their steak and mushroom quesadilla, and also fish tacos. Maybe it's the kind of cheese they put in the quesadilla or some other "secret ingredient" but it's so hearty and delicious. The fish in the tacos are locally caught and if it's ahi they usually serve it cooked more on the rare side, which ahi served rare is a delicacy in Hawaii. Unlike a lot of other food trucks, here there is a decent amount of seating area to eat there. Plus is right next to the ocean so it's just a beautiful place to gaze at the ocean and enjoy the ocean breeze while you wait for your order. I love Al Pastor burrito!! This place is always on my list to eat at when I'm family and home. I am very bias on places to eat on Kaua'i because my family works for a produce company. And I know the quality of their produce is better than some of the other companies on island. Al Pastor orders from my family. Also, I've done deliveries in the past with family. So I've seen what the kitchens look like. That's a big deal whether I'll eat there or not. Anyways, back to the fabulous lunch wagon!!! Located at the end of Kapaa town, near the public pool and next to Otsuka's furniture store. I was introduced to this place through my brother when we would head up to the north shore. We would stop here, and we usually split the Al Pastor burrito. So tasty... My brother loves the habanero hot sauce. Very tasty, but very spicy. Not for the weak... I also like their fish burritos. The ahi (yellow fin tuna) is purchased from local fishermen. So it's fresh. They have pictures of the fishermen they purchased from. It's great to see some of the boys they bought from. The lingua us delicious as well. Gave one to the sister in-law without telling her it was tongue. She liked it... Then once I told her, she was like ewwww. In my head, I was like STFU you liked it.. Anyways... This is a top 5 of my places to eat while back home. Simple, delicious, easy to order, decent price meals. They take credit cards. Great on the go food!! Literally the BEST shrimp tacos I've had in my entire life. Ever. If you are in the area I recommend that you RUN (fast) to this taco truck which deserves to be a National treasure in Kauai. My cousin had the steak tacos and she said they were juicy and flavorful but I swear the shrimp tacos were to die for! With your meal they give you an very small verde sauce which is hot af so be prepared for a kick! You only get one sauce with your meal and asking for a second will one cost you $1. During my last trip to Kauai, I was on a mission to eat tege tege shave ice and just so happen to stumble upon this place. There were a lot of people ordering from this particular food truck so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint!!! We recently visited this food truck that's located on the east side of the island. We haven't been to the east side in a while, so we thought we might as well go food trucking'. I've searched on yelp to see which food truck had rave reviews and that's how we came upon Al Pastor. The food was good. We had the garlic shrimp tacos and also a side of an Al Pastor taco. Everyone ordered from this food truck and we were lucky that there wasn't any line. The garlic shrimp tacos was good, it was recommended by the nice sweet lady taking our order. It didn't have a strong garlic taste, but it was good. The beans was a little bit on the watery side, but we just went for the rice instead. The Al Pastor taco was on point, it wasn't salty at all. It had all the right flavors. The tacos are a good size portions for 1 person. Overall, everything was good. Will definitely be back for more! read more

The truck is parked next to a few others so there was a nice atmosphere with the picnic tables and people around. Now the taco... MY FAVORITE OF THE DAY! We're from California so I'd like to think we know a good Mexican place when we taste it. This place was great! We are here after a long hike and kayaking the Wailua River. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. Just what these Cali kids were craving. You won't be disappointed. We got the steak and mushroom quesadilla and the chicken tacos. Both were delicious but I was totally surprised that the chicken was extremely moist and the sauces were delicious. I really wish I had also ordered the fresh fish tacos. Delicious fresh fish tacos., the lady working in the food truck had an excellent friendly personality. Fresh catch was ahi - delicious and the shrimp tacos were tasty too! The food tasted fairly decent from this street cart, but the woman who took our order was fairly rude. She rolled her eyes at us when my kids and I ordered only Al Carte Ahi tacos (which turned out to be no bigger than a mason jar and they were $4.50 each!). Hubby ordered a full plate and said it tasted good, but the beans were more sauce than actual beans. Amazing tacos! Will definitely be back here before our trip is over. My boyfriend and I came to this food truck after a great massage (our massage therapist recommended this place), and the tacos were so so good. I had the fish tacos (fresh ahi today) and my boyfriend had a fish taco and a garlic shrimp taco -- both delicious. The ahi melted in my mouth. You can order the tacos as a plate with rice & beans or just get them a la carte. It's a good spot with picnic tables and umbrellas in a little food truck corral next to a small beach. Coming from SoCal, we had high expectations when it comes to tacos. This food truck did not disappoint. Their namesake Al Pastor tacos were delicious and not greasy as some food trucks in LA. That was an unexpected and quite a wonderful surprise for us. Portions were generous and we were greatly satisfied with the value for our money. We drive here several times during our 2 week stay. I did try the Ahi taco and have one suggestion: a little added salt would've gone a long way. Price is just right and note the chickens are fairly aggressive and will jump on the tables. Bf had al pastor n fish tacos (catch of the day was ahi), I ordered a fish n shrimp. In my opinion, the shrimp was better than the fish, so plump and fresh!! The chipotle salsa the lady have us paired really well with the tacos too!! Shrimp taco was so good, I ordered another. We didn't order the plates with rice and beans. This was my husband's favourite meal on our two week stay on Kauai. We travelled be whole island and ate a lot of different places (a lot of tacos too). This was our favourite. In fact, he had only taken a bite of his first set of tacos before getting up to order more. I'm never a huge fan of the wild chickens around me while I'm eating, but any food truck on Kauai has this issue. Eat here! You can walk to the beach or enjoy it right there. Yummy fish tacos, great ratio of meat to corn tortillas, good amount of moisture content. However, their name is Al Pastor for a reason!!! It's OFF THE HOOK amazing. Great food truck for on the way to the beach. It is in a little area with 5 other food trucks (good luck catching that crepe truck open). So there are a few wooden benches with umbrellas if you decide to stay and eat there. But I would suggest taking it to go and enjoy your tacos on the beach. I had the Al Pastor, which is 2 roasted pork tacos with an avocado sauce and a side of rice and beans. The sauce was delicious! (and I am not a fan of avocados) The meat was seasoned good and cooked just how I like it (but I like my meat well done). Fairly good tacos! We went on a day they had fresh Ahi and you could really taste the freshness. If you like fishy fish tacos (not the stuff drenched in cheese and sauce) these are for you. These had a lot of fish inside. Get them cooked medium rare! We really loved the garlic shrimp tacos which were also a special, I recommend those if they have them. The chips and salsa were okay, I wouldn't order them again. Good amount of seating and close to the beach and other shops/food trucks, so if you're with a group you could go and everyone could order just what they want, which is a plus. read more
