I love this grocery store. This is my place to buy all my meat and chicken needs. It's very clean meat section. They have so many different cuts and they do a great job cleaning it. On a regular basis, I get chicken boneless from them cut into cubes. I also like to get chicken tender cut, while chicken and so much more. I have gotten goat meat from them as well and it does not have a weird smell to it. I have gotten goat and lamb chops from them perfectly cut. The goat mixture is good too. I make a slow cooked beef stew and use a beef boti cut from them. In produce they have a good common selection of veggies. They have aisles of other products like sauces, masalas, rice etc. In prepared food they have Mediterranean food available and with really good dips and naan etc. This is the place to go if you want to get halal meat or other grocery needs. I love that Al Madina is open late around 10pm if I'm not wrong and right off the highway almost (85) My 5 stars is solely based on the grocery store in general. You can buy cute Turkish, irani, Arab style tea sets and cups, halal meat is fresh, halal deli meats, baklava, all kinds of groceries especially stuff you can't find everywhere such as barberries for jeweled rice, tagine seasoning, some saffron for under 10 bucks, nabeel oud home sprays, attar, dried limes and more! As for the food, I came probably towards 7pm and I think most of the shawarma was gone and I didn't want leftover pieces so I went for the chicken mandi I guess. It was $10.99 or so fair piece and good sides such as the grape leaves and baba ghanouj however the chicken and rice flavors I didn't like too much I'd rate them 2/5. With a large part of our family in the Atlanta area, it's not inappropriate for the first one to be about one of their businesses. I stumbled upon Al Madina - ostensibly a halal variety store - after using the gym next door, aiming to get some sweets. I was not disappointed. They had turkish delights (and some Moroccan specialties too). The variety is eye-opening. When asked, the lady placidly minding the counter reassured me that they are all made with pistachios (seeing how my wife does not care for walnuts). It's more than just baklavas - a couple of the varieties had an interesting texture that conjures up mochis, and that's not a bad thing. All in all (upon tasting later), they are more artisanal than elegant, but definitely lovingly prepared. At about $15 a lb., they're most expensive than some fine chocolates. So, more a curiosity treat than an everyday buy. The store itself is quite clean and brightly lit, especially for an ethnic store. They have everything from prepared food to meats and produce (a bit of a sorry sight). But if you're after a goat's head - with the eye balls - this is the place to be! read more

I always come and support my fellow Muslims brothers and sisters. I stopped by Al Madina and picked up iftar, i come home and i see mold in the food. I was upset and i called the restaurant, and they answered. I respectfully told them that I ordered food from you all and there was mold in my bread. The man who answered was absolutely rude saying it happens and he couldn't refund me and they give bread to every of their customers. I paid $30 for mold in my food?! The man didn't apologize and handed it to the man name Salaam. He spoke to me but he and the people with him were laughing as I was telling him there's mold in my food. He continued to laugh and this should just show to save your money and eat somewhere else but here. Absolutely disgusted at the behavior and the quality. Customer service is horrible. You name it, this store has it, and a good Halal market too. Great selection of pastry but quite pricy. They even have a prayer room if you happen to be shopping around prayer time. The little food place is also a nice addition. That's why we drove 22 miles. My husband had lamb with rice, Hummus, Baba ganoush, and I had rice with chicken, Tabbouleh and mixed vegetables. Food was tasty but needed to be warmer. We also enjoyed 0% alcohol Pomegranate beer. The ladies restroom needed some attention, not only cleaning but some fixing too. What an amazing fusion of cultures and people. If I lived in ATL I would definitely go regularly. They have modest fashionable attire for men and women. I bought a couple of beautiful black pieces with embroidery. They have Islamic home decoration pieces. They have spices and for Middle Eastern food and south Asian foods. They sell halal meat in the back as well as a complete restaurant with delicious food on the side. I was able to get spices, castor oil, a prayer mat, incense, hookah, meat, clothes, snacks, hot cooked food, home decoration pieces all in one place! We stopped in to get some things we needed to cook for this upcoming week and stopped in at the restaurant inside for lunch. I ordered a falafel platter and they told me they were going to cook it fresh so shop and come back in a few minutes. It was the perfect amount of time and then I came back to some perfectly cooked falafel. You get to choose from different sides like hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, potatoes, olives, and many more! I've driven passed Al Madina for so many years and had no idea what it was until my Desi Bestie told me about it. Al Madina is a Middle Eastern grocery store that has Middle Eastern/Desi ingredients and sells halal meats. I was happy to find goat sold here. I've always bought frozen goat that I could only find at Lilburn Farmers Market. Inside the store, on the left, you will see a small food court that sells snacks like samosas. I'm not a fan of meat samosas but their chicken samosas are to die for! They are so yummy and comes in big triangular shape. There are many desserts for sale too like baklava that is made fresh. Towards the back of the store on the left, you will see a small boutique that sells elegant hijabs. Towards the back of the store is where the halal meats are sold. In the middle of the store, there are aisles of ingredients for sale. Many I am able to find elsewhere but if you're here shopping for the halal meat, then you can come get the rest of your grocery here. Al Madina is a halal grocery and deli located on busy Jimmy Carter Blvd in Norcross. The shelves are stocked with everything from freshly butchered meat to imported candies and herbs. We had a quick dinner in the cafe (immediately to the left when you enter through the front door) - roasted bone-in, skin-on chicken served on a bed of flavorful yellow rice with sides of spicy crisped potatoes and nutty cauliflower. We also shared a plate of the appetizers / sides - hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, maghmour (a Lebanese take on moussaka made with chickpea and eggplant), and of course, olives. I've got to say everything was truly fantastic, both perfectly cooked and flavorful. The maghmour was my favorite by far. If you have a sweet tooth, Al Madina also has an extensive dessert counter packed with homemade sweets. The friendly lady behind the counter let me try tastes of some of the smaller treats for free, and I wound up leaving with $30 of baklava and desserts packed onto paper trays. The only reason this doesn't get five stars is the location and the hours. It's a bit difficult to get anywhere in Atlanta during evening rush hour, and this is no exception. It's worth noting as well that the hours online say that the deli closes at 8pm, but they were already packed up and ready to lock the doors at 7:30pm. read more

Al Madina is a Halal grocery store and market located along Jimmy BLVD in the same shopping center as the Aldi and Family Dollar. I'm uncertain whether the store is under new ownership, but it was once quite shabby and rundown. A recent renovation has improved things a great deal. It's clean, the shelves are stocked and well-organized and there is a seating area with a flatscreen in the cafe area. I'm not much of a cook myself, but if you are and your culinary tastes trend toward the Persian and Mediterranean then Al Madina will be a dream. Even if you're not a cook, items that are usually quite expensive, such as pistachios, or others that are outright difficult to find, such as hazelnuts, are available and affordable here. I go to Al Madina for two reasons: their bakery and cafe. The bakery is exceptional. Each morning they bake pita bread and sell it in packs of five for about $2.00. Often it is fresh out of the oven and quite literally still warm to the touch. The sweets are just beautiful. There are several different types of baklava made (the pistachio being my favorite) as well as other delightful treats. The cafe serves chicken and steak shawarmas, lamb chops and kofta. Of these, I have had the kofta and the steak shawarma. The kofta was quite good, but I've had better elsewhere. The steak shawarma was outstanding. For those who don't know, a shawarma is basically meat (usually chicken or steak) wrapped in pita bread, served with tomatoes, pickles and Tahini sauce. Additionally, Al Halal uses a chili pepper sauce which I found to compliment the Tahini wonderfully. This was as good a shawarma as I've had anywhere. Finally, if you like to cook and you're looking for what can be hard to find ingredients for a Mediterranean meal or you simply enjoy that region's cuisine, certainly stop by and see what Al Madina has to offer. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Pros: Has otherwise difficult to find items and really good sandwiches and pastries. Cons: No significant negatives. Verdict: Recommended. read more

I've been spoiled by Al Madina. Their meats are always packaged in a clean and clear manner. Their halal frozen meat products are never out of stock. Their Indo Pak groceries are slowly disappearing though. They still have handmade samosas in the freezer section, but they're a little on the small side. The deli section freshly slices halal cold cuts by request, but some of the meats that are already open aren't fresh, so try to order something that will require a new one to be opened. Also, the restaurant in the corner has great options if you're hungry. The produce isn't the best but it's getting better. Also, they have a Islamic shop in the corner. Their little Ramadan lanterns are $25 at this store when you can get the same one in Doha, Qatar for $8!!! It makes no sense as to why there's such a huge markup on the Ramadan decor. I can understand a little bit of a markup, but 3 times the original price? Are you kidding me?! Their tea pitchers (the fancy ones) are priced at $30 in this store. Their abayas, $50+. You can buy nice abayas at a local masjid from a sister seller for like $30. Their really cheap looking Ramadan lights are going for $13+. I'm really sad at how they have such a huge markup on clothing and decor here. Their hijabs are very reasonably priced. Food is reasonably priced as well. The staff are really kind here. I thought I did a review of this before but I didn't see where I did so here is my input. I used to live in this neighborhood and I loved it! Ethnicity diversed with plenty of nice choices of food items to choose from all next to each other in a small circumference. Al Madina is my favorite for Middle Eastern and Indian foods. It is a grocery store slash restaurant slash small clothing boutique books and music store. I go there to get fresh juices.. meats..rice and I eat from their restaurant all of the time. The shwarmas are fresh and tasty. Their rice dishes samosas... heavenly. Dried fruits and nuts are great also. They have these juices in the juice aisle that "look" strange .. they are called basil seed drinks. For some people its weird because the seeds in the drink are like tapioca in the pudding. That mushy taste sort of. But i promise you they are fab!! I always get 15 different ones. I also buy the oils for my skin and Hair shampoo! I must tell you.. in todays world please take time step out of your comfort zone and visit this store. I usually go to AL-Madina on Jimmy Carter Blvd, Norcross, Its a good place to get all the required things, but be aware, the price of shelf and the checkout is most of the time different and i have to make corrections. When you tell them the shelf price, they will go and verify and correct it. But what if someone is not keeping their eye on screen, they are going to charge more.
