Pakistani foodie here: Recently attended a Pakistani family wedding in Jacksonville that was catered for by Kabab Hut. The food was just absolutely amazing. The first bite of each dish was simply a delicious explosion of perfectly balanced flavors: the Kabuli pulao, the nihari, the seekh kababs, the malai boti, the baingan bhurta, the chaat, the qorma, the naans... I literally can just keep going on and on. It was one of the BEST Pakistani food experiences I have had in the US. Iftakhar Ahmad's attention to detail and service was simply outstanding. We have been meaning to try kabab hut from a while. So glad that we finally tried it. The customer service was great, the portions are good, the price is decent and it's just a casual desi style restaurant. Things we had: Dahi bhallas- They are lentil based balls that are made in a yogurt sauce- pretty yummy. The chicken karahi was amazing, it's chicken with good gravy and was very tasty. The beef nihari is chunks of beef with a thick sauce - it was very good The seekh kabobs were beef and were good. The chicken malai boti was nice and tender pieces of chicken. And lastly had their freshly made Tea that is desi style with milk in it. Everything was quite lovely and we really enjoyed our meal. read more

I have eaten here twice in the last 2 weeks and both visits were good! On the first visit I ordered butter chicken, and 1 Chili, onion kulcha. A kulcha is a Pakistani bread that is round in shape, puffy edges and thinner in the middle. This was off the regular menu so the dishes are fresh and hot. Pull apart and dip that kulcha in the very tasty butter chicken and its OH SO nice! I noticed the sign for a $6.99 buffet Mon-Thurs, higher on FRI SAT and SUN. I thought $6.99...wow, sounds like a deal, so went back for that. Its not as large as most Indo/Paki buffets, but the price is lower accordingly so you get a good deal still for what you pay. They had a ground beef dish, grilled chicken pieces with no bones, and a biryani which I think was chicken but might have been goat. There was 2 lentil dishes and one that I am guessing was smashed beans, the color of pinto beans loaded with nice spices. I dont know the name of that but it was really good. Yeah Id do the buffet again, but I also want to try more dishes with a fresh kulcha on the side. The butter chicken was $7.99 and the kulcha $2.50. The butter chicken is served in a nice copper pot with brass handles. Oh one more thing. I had the best gulab jamun EVER from the $6.99 buffet. They were very large, hot, tasty and I shouldnt be eating them! But I only ate one as I have to watch sugars. My guess is they were just fresh as can be as he just set them down, still warm. Kind of like getting a hot donut I guess, but they would probably still be good later on too. Photo posted. I come here often because use they have a great buffet special. Lunch special during the week is $6 and weekends $8. It's not a huge selection but enough items to leave on a full stomach. Customer service is not the greatest. Typically you have to wait at the counter for someone to greet you and pay. It's all self serve and no one lets you know how to get drinks. However the food is delicious, fresh, hot and fully stocked. It's my fave go to since down the street. read more

You can find Kabob Hut at 880 Indian Trail Rd NW, Lilburn Georgia 30057 between the intersections of Dickens Rd and Burns Rd. This restaurant is in a small shopping center that also features Murray's In a Hurry. It's a bit hard to see as the "L" shaped shopping center mostly faces Burns Rd - you'll probably turn there and then into the lower part of the parking lot. I don't remember who told me about this place - I believe it was one of my Indian friends, but having some time and being in the area, I decided to drop in one sleepy weekend afternoon. Kabob Hut is a small restaurant where you order at the counter and after some time (pretty much everything is cooked to order) the food is delivered to your table. I looked over the menu, which features mostly foods cooked over open flame or curries. Most of the items I've tried at other Pakastani restaurants so I have some familiarity with the cuisine (which is very similar to Indian if a bit oilier and of course the Muslim culture allows beef). I was looking for something that would provide the most variety so I choose the Kabob Platter (at $10.99) and also ordered a Bullet Naan (the flat bread is usually mixed with green chilies and baked in a tandoor oven). I then found a table and waited for about 15 minutes. In the meanwhile I was delivered a disposable plate with fork/spoon, a small plate of lettuce and onions, a couple of chutney/masala containers and a pitcher of cold water with a cup. This strangely reminded me quite a bit of eating in the canteens in India (sort of the building's cafeteria which usually has some super inexpensive food available served on disposable plates) When the food hit the table my eyes bugged - tons of food on this plate. I believe there was Green Boti, Seek Kabob and Tika Boti. Also was this beautiful naan. There was so much food I was only able to eat about half of it - the rest came home with me and became my lunch the following day. All the food was just delicious and I would recommend this dish to anyone coming here for the first time - it can easily feed two people. This is the best Pakistani food I've found in Atlanta - but then again I didn't try the curries so if you're going to come here I can only vouch for the kabobs which are fantastic. Kabab Hut is located in Lilburn, off Dickens Road and Indian Trail Road in a plaza that you think has nothing going on. Regardless, I still came and finally to try Kabab Hut mainly because I have heard great things about it even though I heard the ambiance may not be great. Nevertheless, I decided to call ahead and order so I could just pick up. When I got there, I was surprised to be in line with others who have called to pick their orders up. Interesting! The restaurant was much better looking than I imagined cause of what others people have said on Yelp. I did see an empty buffet that has been cleaned so I assume there is lunch buffet. Most Desi restaurants offer lunch buffets. I got my order and took it home. I got the following. Chicken 65 - This is my staple, to-go dish. It is an appetizer and the Desi version of chicken nuggets. Presentation wise, spot on. It does taste good. However, I've had yummier ones elsewhere. Don't love the chutney that it comes with but still good overall. Honestly, this is the cheapest I've ever spent on chicken 65 anywhere. $5.99 and they gave me a lot. I couldn't finish! Samosas - I ordered all of flavors! Veggies, chicken, beef. No kidding. $3.49 and comes with two pieces so yes, I got 6 in all. They were all good. Veggies samosas are bigger in size. Chicken and beef are grounded and wrapped flat in triangle shapes. All of them had so much peas though. Honestly, the meat samosas I've had in the past didn't have peas or if they did, wasn't this much. Butter Chicken - I forgot to take a pic but honestly, most of these dishes just taste good and presentation wise, it's just chunks of chicken in thick sauce. The chicken were breast meat and cut up in large chunks. $6.99 Bullet Naan - $2.49 Naan that is stuff with green chillies! Yep! I don't think it's spicy but it gives the naan more texture and flavor. The naan was fluffy. Note - this is authentic Pakistani food. Some may mistaken it for Indian cause honestly, let's be real. People are ignorant and just assume it's Indian food. Rule of thumb differentiating Desi food. When you see more meat dishes on the menu, most likely it is Pakistani food, especially kababs. Whenever you see "Indo-Pak" or "halal" meat, most likely Pakistani. When you see "non vegetarian" and "vegetarian" on the menu, most likely it's Indian. If you ever see "Bangladeshi" lumped in with Indian, most likely it's Bengali/Bangladeshi food. Authentic Pakistani touch in my experience. I went for the buffett during Ramadan and it was really good. I would give 4.5 stars in the app if I could. Why am I deducting .5 stars? The following suggestions should clarify. 1. They should stop putting/providing/suggestin "plastic" spoon with hot tea. Its not healthy. 2. They really need to upgrade the toilet. You need to place the order at the counter and then the food is served at your table. Nothing special about the place, but the food is excellent and the prices are a little lower compared to other desi restaurants. They now have a separate room for small parties. According to the owner, it can accommodate about 80 - 90 guests. From Maryland. Passing through the area. Came here to order some late night takeout. Motivated by the 4 stars. I ordered three dishes. Malai chicken with rice, chicken roll and brain masala with extra naan. The brain masala cost $9. Waited for over 30 minutes to pick up the package. Finally got to the hotel and with eager anticipation opened the package to find one whole dish, brain masala missing!!! So disappointed! Felt robbed. It can gain another star if the place upgrades its hygiene and service. The food is delicious but the place has reduced its quantity recently. Some times the food that has oil can be a bit to oily. Kulch is the highlight at the place. The orders do usually take up to 30 mins or more because food is made by order.Bihari kebab is mouth watering. It's a must try! This is definitely a hole in the wall in a run down shopping plaza that I will not be revisiting. I came out of my way for the advertised lunch buffet. Upon arrival, there was a gentleman mopping the floor later to find out he may have been the owner. No communication what so ever...already had this odd feeling that this place wasn't going to be good. I should've gone with my instincts and just bailed. The buffet was sub sub par starting with the basic nan...absolutely terrible. So terrible we ordered a separate appetizer portion which came out a little better. The meats on the buffet didn't taste fresh at all only offering 2 types of chicken. The rice was bland with crunchy pieces from sitting there for however long. If you want Indian buffet, don't waste your time traveling out of your way for this place. read more
