    Fettuccine with marinara sauce

Found this place with great review while I was in the neighborhood and looking for lunch. What a great find! Classic definition of hidden gem. Located in a weird small strip of business offices across from the Anaheim trash service. Don't be discouraged by the trash smell outside and sketchy looking front door, the food is worth it! The sandwich is EXCELLENT. The focaccia bread is outrageously good, full of flavor with crispy texture, the pickled radish really makes the flavor pops more and balance out the oil in the bread. So far, I've tried the pork chop and Portobello mushroom sandwiches, both are great. Also tried the homemade fettuccine pasta, which is also excellent, but I would say sandwich is certainly better. Very tiny place, six small tables, can probably only fit up to 12 people max. Will need to come back and try their weekly special. Friendly staff. Chef Larry also comes out to chat with customer as well. Just heard today that they are opening up a new place closer to Anaheim old town, taking over the previous Rolling Sushi Café place, but will still keep this place open.

This place maybe a hole in the wall but don't let its appearance fool you. They serve gourmet near fine dining quality dishes including pastas, salmon, and sandwiches. Bread is baked in the restaurant and pastas are all made in house as well. The green curry short rib was one of our favorites as well as the empanadas. Highly recommended if you are in the area and will definitely return!

It was our first time visiting Ake' Larry's. We ordered the mushroom sandwich with chicken & a cheese empanada. Both were good. I took a Tres Leche home with me and it was also very good. The restaurant is very small - only a few tables and the menu is limited. The owners are Kind and friendly

This place is absolutely beautiful! From the moment I walked in, I felt so welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and it really makes you want to stay for hours. The food was a perfect 10/10 everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The service was just as wonderful! so kind, attentive, and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. The only thing I wish is that they stayed open later, because it's such a lovely spot that you just don't want to leave. I would love to visit in the evenings and enjoy it even more. Still, I can't wait to come back soon and keep trying more dishes. Truly a gem that I'm so happy I found!

Ake'Larry is located in a small building in a bit of an industrial area in Placentia. They are open pretty early in the morning and close in the early afternoon, which makes this spot great for a quick breakfast of pastries and lunch. I usually call in my orders because during the lunch hour, it gets busy. Vi works the counter and the phones, but does so with finesse and warmth. I cannot stress enough how flavorful and delicious everything is here! They make everything from scratch, and they make everything to order. I almost always order their sandwich combos, especially their rotisserie chicken sando with portobello mushroom added in (texture bomb!!!), and grab a bag of chips and an aranciata rossa sparkling water. Their focaccia is the perfect foundation for their sandwiches, and the amount of fillings is substantial. They have a small chef's special menu that features unique dishes, like the green curry short ribs. I believe this menu is dine-in only, so it's highly recommended to call ahead of time so that it's ready for you to sit and eat when you get there. The short ribs were so tender and melted in my mouth. The crispy potatoes that came with it had amazing texture as well. They also give little freebies sometimes like their truffles and little almond pastry bites with your meal. Definitely a must-go spot when you're looking for a cozy hole in the wall for amazing lunch fare, fresh pasta, and pastries!

My coworker and I are from San Diego and had some business up in LA and picked this spot for lunch... feel like we found a hidden gem. As soon as we walked in, the owner knew where we knew and gave us small bite sized cakes as we looked over the menu. Super nice family. Small cozy atmosphere. You sort of feel like ur in Europe for a few minutes. :) we got the turkey and Portobello mushroom sandwiches. They were 10/10. Focaccia was perfect. Flavor was great. And the PRICE was great. Only like 10 bucks a sandwich. We left a good tip. Definitely coming back.

This place is an absolute "hidden gem"! It is tucked in with some other businesses, but you will easily figure out which door is the correct one to the restaurant. Larry is very personable and interesting. He is a pastry chef and makes everything. His focaccia is handmade by him and is used in his sandwiches. We ordered the Turkey, Portobello Mushroom, and Pastrami sandwiches. All were fantastic! He did let us know that the pastrami may be different than what we may have had in the fact that the meat is not piled high like some delis. He keeps his fillings at the right ratio so it works well with the delicious focaccia. While we were waiting for our dine in order he came out to chat with my mom and me. What a genuinely nice friendly person! There are a few small tables if you want to eat your food there. We were the only ones at the time, but there were many pick-ups and to go orders while we were there. We enjoyed our lunch and shared bites of each other's sandwich. My mom said she was going to take my vegetarian aunt here for the portobello sandwich. I personally enjoyed the turkey and would get either sandwich again. We did a to go for my brother with the pastrami sandwich and a curry chicken empanada. I got a bite of the empanada and we both give it a thumbs up. However, I was not fast enough to take a picture of his sandwich or try it. We ended with a piece of pear tart w/a red wine reduction which was fabulous. We will be back, there is so much more we want to try on the menu!

Wow talk about hidden gem! This restaurant is a great example of "don't judge a book by its cover" or rather... don't judge a restaurant by the initial scent of the surrounding area due to the waste management center that's across the street so you literally smell garbage when you get out of your car. Our friend who lives close by recommended this spot to us and we were excited to check it out. We ordered the shredded beef empanada, portobello mushroom sandwich, and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. All three dishes were so delicious. I think especially because I'm pregnant I swear I could have ordered two more sandwiches and eaten them on the spot because it was that good. As soon as my husband had a bite of the fettuccine Alfredo he said "better than Italy" haha! He also couldn't get his hands off of my sandwich! Next time we will order our own sandwiches... We had the pleasure of meeting Vee and she was so friendly, outgoing, and very informative regarding the back story of the restaurant. We learned that Larry used to be a pastry chef for famous establishments like Terranea, Hilton, and Disney but due to COVID he decided to switch avenues and open up this establishment! She made sure to check in on us and even gave us a complimentary chocolate ganache at the end of the meal. Also the inside decor is so cozy and cute and it's the perfect place for a low key dining experience that's guaranteed to be delicious. Can't wait to come back!

Been wanting to try this place for a while, but was kinda scared to go myself since I thought it was in sketch area. It's actually more low key industrial rather than sketch, so don't let it deter you from going. Solid sandwich made with the best focaccia ever and thickkkkkkk turkey. The beef empanada was good too. Crust was so flaky and filling was savory. Didn't get to try desserts or pasta, but guess I'll just have to go back to try them

Amazing experience here at Ake'Larry. The service was very quick and the food was amazing. All ingredients were fresh. The friendly owner of the restaurant also let us know that everything is made in house. I will make definitely be returning!

Super Lit!!!! Imagine not having to go to some fancy trattoria in Pasadena, Thank you Larry!

While delivering a trailer load on my Rig next door, I stumbled on this hole in the wall, and it blew me away that such a place can exist in such a rough industrial blue collared neighborhood. The sharp contrast between the smell of garbage outside and the smell of decadent gourmet foods inside makes this tiny establishment all the more a great escape for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle. I ordered several sandwiches, empanadas, and their pesto Alfredo fusion pasta. What a delight, **chef's kiss** Really want to thank the owner for showcasing his culinary passion in this bakery, cafe, and strongly recommend anyone if ever in the neighborhood to splurge at this restaurant, because it's just well worth it! My honest opinion, the pasta was better than the vodka sauce rigatoni I ordered at North Italia, Irvine. The sandwiches were above and beyond gourmet sandwiches you'd get from say Whole foods or even Earls. Definitely coming back! And the owner was top notch with service !

A co-worker recommended this restaurant to me, and from my very first visit, I've had nothing but excellent experiences -- from the attentive customer service to the outstanding quality of the food. The restaurant also offers a charming dine-in area with small tables and candlelight, creating a warm, romantic atmosphere. The food is exceptional. I've enjoyed several of their freshly made pastas that are made from scratch, a few sandwiches, and their signature caprese salad -- all absolutely delicious. I recommend calling ahead to check the daily specials, as they change frequently. Each time I've ordered, the chef has personally shared his pastries with me, which adds a thoughtful and personal touch to the experience!! There is a small menu that I have added. But some items like I mentioned above you have to call ahead to see what's special for the day they have.

The Mexican music blaring from the kitchen should've been my first sign what I was in for. No Italian music. No feeling of being in Italy for a bowl of pasta. The server dropped some bread on my table and walked off. Individual butter packets that took two packets to spread across one small piece of bread. Bread was boring and nothing worth even eating. The meatballs‍...the meatballs‍...were lukewarm and were so tough I could barely cut through it with a fork. They were chewy and tasteless. I got the sense they were left over from the days before, perhaps even frozen and reheated. The only positive was the new young girl at the counter who just started working here. Located in the middle of downtown Fullerton, it's a charming and cozy space that's perfect for a date night or celebration. Still, it's worth it for the great atmosphere and delicious pasta. Certain days of the week have different specials. For example, Thursdays they have discounted martinis (they have some GREAT drinks), and Wednesdays discounted wine bottles (and no corkage fees if your whole party orders an entree) so definitely make sure to check out if they're offering anything the day you come in. They have a pretty large menu of pasta dishes, and other entrees. Everything I've had off the menu has been delicious, including the special pasta of the day I ordered on my last visit. Our glasses were constantly refilled and the wait staff were all very friendly. Okay, my one criticism is the suggested gratuity on the bill. When looking at the bill, the suggested 20% tip seemed like a higher recommendation in dollars for our total. When calculating it out, the amount listed for our 20% tip was actually 25%. That introduction should prepare you for the food, which is as anti-corporate as you'd imagine from the place's looks. The vegetarian dishes are numerous and hearty the way you'd expect vegetarian dishes wouldn't be, somehow filling and richly satisfying. The ratatouille is savory, the vegetarian burrito bean-y and substantial, the falafel wrap is a little dry but will sit in the pit of your stomach in a satisfying way. The hummus is a lumpy, almost cottage cheese-like interpretation of the dish which could use a little more flavor but isn't bad. The food tastes homemade, the vegetables as though they were actually, at one point in their existences, raw. The meals are as nourishing physically as a Marilynne Robinson novel is spiritually. For those who are worried, the restaurant isn't exclusively vegetarian, and although I haven't had a bunch of the meat dishes, what I have had has continued on the theme of minimally processed foods. The-Walnut-That-Kissed-The-Chicken is a nice take on the chicken salad sandwich, spread thick between two slabs of squaw bread that make it as much a mouthful to eat as it is to say, and the chicken tastes like it was actually boiled and then chopped by hand. We still live in a society driven by consumption, not even the peacenik greenie-types are unaffected, and you can tell by the size of the portions - you invariably have to take some home. Salads come in gigantic blue plastic basins that look as though the cook in the back thought about looking for a proper serving bowl and then just decided, aw to heck with it, I'll just serve the entire thing in the tub I tossed it in. Be sure to get a dessert anyway - the cheesecake is the sweet, tart, dense kind of thing that makes gaining talk-show kind of weight easy. The place also has a decent list of beers. I haven't tried the wines or the cocktails. I've been coming here on and off for a little over a quarter of a century now, I've seen all sorts of people sitting at the rickety wooden tables, from the Birkenstock crowd to sorority girls to Korean club-kids - wholesome food in giant portions appeals across sociopolitical lines.

I've been coming to this Old Spaghetti Factory for a long time, 10+ years. It's the first and only…read moreone I've been to. I appreciate its cleanliness inside (tables, furniture, bathrooms) and easy parking (more people need to use the public parking structure that's literally a 1-2 minute walk). It's Thursday, and I was looking for a last minute reservation for lunch time, on MOTHER'S DAY. After calling literally 15+ establishments, I was so happy to snag a reservation here! Sunday arrives, and we are already running late. I called and spoke to the hostess, and nervously told them we'd be 15 minutes late. I was terrified the reservation would be forfeited. The hostess was very empathetic, told us to drive safe, and that our table will be ready when we arrive. This definitely helped with my stress. We arrive and after checking in we are seated immediately. Our waitress, Olivia, was absolutely amazing! She greeted us with a big smile and was incredibly attentive to our party. She took our drink order, shared the specials, and gave us time to decide on what we wanted. It's common at other restaurants that when you tell the waiter you are not ready, they do not return for a L-O-N-G time. Olivia did not do this. She continued to check on us and did not come off impatient. My mom, who's never been before and English is not her primary language, had a lot of questions from describing all the salad dressings to different fettuccine. Olivia happily answered everything and got our order underway. Our drinks were always refilled and she never forgot a request, whether it was dressing on the side, straws, or extra napkins & utensils. I wanted to sneakily pay the bill while my family was still enjoying their food, so I went inside. Another girl, Penny, noticed I needed assistance and helped me with my request immediately. Lastly, I really wanted to express how amazing everything went so I asked to speak with a manager. As someone who works in the service industry too, I know all too well that most of the time happily satisfied customers/guests/patrons are more likely to move on with their day while disappointed people are the ones to complain. Within a few minutes I met Ashley, one of the managers, and was able to share that this was probably one of the best Mother's Day outings we have ever had, all thanks to Old Spaghetti Factory. On our way home, my mom was already brainstorming when to return.

My wife and I loved it so much while dating that we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in 1991. We haven't been back for quite a while so we thought we'd eat there for the sake of of nostalgia. What a disappointment! We went early evening so it wasn't crowded. We were seated immediately but then had to wait so long for a server that we had to summons a hostess to get one. It took a long while to get everything. When we were finally served, he bread was good, the salad was not, and the spaghetti I had was below par at best-- not very hot and super low on meat sauce and mizithra cheese (shrinkflation?). The tiny chicken parmesan that my wife had, however, was the worst we've ever tasted anywhere by far. We wanted to get our bill, but again we had to wait forever for the server to give us our check so we can go back and relieve the caregiver for our disabled son. The price overall was basically in line with what you would pay everywhere else nowadays, but the quality and service was so poor we will not return... and that's a real shame.

Even though each store has a strengths, I feel like overall Bristol Farms is the better of the two. This is speaking as millennial and maybe Bristol Farms serves a more immature crowd. Hopefully it stays that way. They have everyday products and they have very niche products. Literally something for everyone their bakery is delicious and of course they have their classic big cookies that are served warm. I haven't had anything from the juice/coffee bar yet, but I will next, however the poke bar and the hot bar, never disappoints and that is why I'm writing this review finally. Today I had a flounder piccata mashed potatoes, perfectly roasted vegetables, and pasta Bolognese with huge chunks of beef. Everything was delicious. The flounder even remained crunchy two hours after leaving the store they don't have the variety in the hot bar that Whole Foods has, however, the quality is far superior, and the flavor is in the upper echelon compared to Whole Foods. These are consistent findings within the self-service food area even within the deli carving station. Sometimes they have turkey briskets. I believe I've even purchased prime rib there and the quality and flavor is always on point consistently the presentation of all of their items never fails either also, every time I go to Bristol Farms you're always greeted with a smile. The staff is really nice and in general they look like they're happy to be there which makes the shopping experience that much better.

Store itself is good sized and organized with a nice little wine shop. The bakery counter had good options and I got a few bakery goods of course. I find some of the fresh produce weren't as fresh as Whole Foods. Also less grocery varieties cause they sell a lot of different things other than groceries. Nonetheless I got what I needed. We stopped at coffee and juice counter for matcha and cold brew before leaving. The workers were a bit flat but still polite. This is a good choice of store for groceries whenever we need to charge our car too. One stop for two chores to save time!
