    Shumai
    Jaclyn N.

I'm a regular at Sushi at the Park, but wanted to try something new. The Shumai were okay, but not much flavor without the sauce. My two rolls were definitely not worth the price they were marked, but with the 50% off of 2 or more, they were decent. I probably won't go back for sushi, but I might try the hibachi as it seemed several people around me ordered it. The restaurant is clean and quiet, tucked away in a unique location. The waitress was nice and guided me to two of the salmon rolls. Overall, if I could give a 3.5, I would.

We went there for the first time, looking for good bogi sushi and this is definitely our new spot . The place isn't fancy but the staff is super friendly and quick, and the food is delicious and the place is very clean

This has become of our favorite places right now for sushi and such. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and hot! We love the staff, they are always kind and friendly. Please believe - when dining in - you get your money worth when it comes to the food. We ALWAYS have left overs for lunch the next day. The make sure that when you are dining in your have hand sanitizer available and they do not sit everyone on top of each other. There is good spacing and you can telling they want you to feel comfortable and safe while dining with them. If it is your first time, get the box. This will allow you to get a sample of various things on the menu for a good price. Speaking of pricing, they have good pricing overall for their selections. Oh! PLLEEEAASSEE try the miso soup. It is sooooooo good.

Cute and hidden place! Went here for this first time and thought the food was very tasty! I got a simple sushi one but it tasted really good! And cheap! There was a 50% off with the rolls but I decided to try more things. Want to come back to try the other rolls though!

I had the Ultimate Rainbow Roll, Cherry Blossom Roll Special, Sakura Drop Roll, Lotus Blossom Roll Special, and Famous Roll Special. Out of the ones I've tried, my favorite were the Lotus Blossom and Sakura Drop Roll. 4/5. Overall the sushi rolls were decent and low-key. Not the best I've had but not the worst either. Each roll is expensive but if you buy 2 or more rolls, rolls are 50% off. Plenty of seating. Ambiance was okay, nothing fancy. Service was okay.

Ordered through the yelp app/ grub hub. Best decision I made. The sushi platter I order was fresh and delicious. I mean melt in my mouth delicious. So impressed to get quality sushi in NC. Was a little tricky to find, GPS too me to the back of the building. So here's the tip. Park where everyone else is in the front of the shopping center. Easy parking.

The service was prompt and polite. The ambiance is okay, though the disposable silverware and styrofoam cups cheapened the experience. The food was good but it's just not really worth it for the price. I can tell it was higher quality than normal hibachi but the quality difference isn't equal to the $10 price increase.

For the price and quality, you just can't beat this place! Sushi is never inexpensive, and that goes for this place as well. However, I felt like the sushi quality was much better than what you can find at other sushi places around the triangle area for the same price! The rolls are 50% off when you get 2 or more rolls, which is a great deal for a larger group of people! They also have sooo many options of rolls, and they have nigiri and sets as well, that are great. They have menu items aside from sushi too, in case you're going with a group where someone doesn't like sushi. I have to come back for their bento boxes sometime!

Disappointing hole-in-the-wall with nothing to offer. To say that I am shocked about the quality of this restaurant is an understatement. Considering the reviews, you'd think it would be a great experience. It was not. The atmosphere was terrible. There were ugly table covers and styrofoam cups. Felt like I was eating at a family reunion. The service was terrible as well. We were not acknowledged after sitting down; it was completely dead. Our waitress then proceeded to have an attitude with us, and talk down to us like we had no idea what we were talking about when we asked questions. The dishes at this restaurant are not accurate at all. For example, the so-called katsudon is actually a curry rather than the traditional dish itself. The sushi prices were absolutely exorbitant for shitty quality. How can a california roll be priced at $11? The nigiri I ordered, however, was surprisingly cheap which made no sense considering the price point of the other sushi. It was horrible though, tasting stringy and with an odd aftertaste. Another party member ordered ramen and absolutely hated it. The noodles tasted like they had been boiled in contaminated tap water. Thus, you couldn't PAY ME to come back here, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Looking for a soFISHsticated place to grab some sushi? Akashi is one of the few places I can find these days that still has a sushi deal. It's 50% off all sushi rolls when you order at least three per two people. I can't say it's the best sushi I've had in my life, but it is good for a good deal and is sure to satisfy that sushi craving of yours

Carolina Roll & Yellowtail Special Roll
    Ariel H.

Akashi is my go-to for a great value! Their 50% off two or more rolls makes the specialty rolls a quiet reasonable price. They have a good variety of combinations with all the usual favorites. Some rolls are on the bland side, but because of their discount I've enjoyed trying new ones each time to find my favorites. Some of my favorite rolls are the furious dragon, blue devil, Carolina and volcano rolls. Spicy Mayo does have an extra charge so if you're picking up, make sure it's actually in the bag! I usually call and while preparation time can vary, it's usually quite reasonable, making Akashi a convenient pick up spot. I have never dined in before, but they have a nice ambience. I'd like to dine in and try some of their soups sometime.

The four of us tried multiple sets, and the portions were incredibly generous. For example, the signature set was honestly too much food for one person. Considering both the quality and quantity, the pricing felt like an absolute steal. Not only was the fish excellent, but the shellfish was outstanding as well -- the clam & scallop were both some of my favorite bites of the meal. Everything tasted extremely fresh. They also had a great sake selection. Dessert options were limited (it seemed like they usually offer just one item). Service was incredibly efficient. At times, the pace made me feel slightly rushed, but the staff were always friendly and attentive throughout. The restaurant itself is small, welcoming, and stayed busy throughout the night. I really loved the casual, low-key atmosphere paired with truly top-notch food. Already looking forward to coming back many more times!

Menu has a bunch of different set meals, an Omakase, and some a la carte stuff. The inside is a bit small and the tables are also on the smaller side so if you order a lot it's hard to fit the set meals on the tables as they come on bigger trays and with sides (miso soup, salad, etc.) Service was good and they did a good job of explaining what everything came with and what was included. We tried a few different set meals and everything was fairly good. I especially liked the miso soup as it was very umami forward. The fish was also pretty high quality. The rice in our chirashi dish also stood out as it was seasoned or marinated pretty nicely. Overall a good sushi restaurant if you're looking for something a little better than your standard sushi restaurant. Bonus points as they are also a non-tipping establishment.

The rolls looked pretty nice when they came out -- colorful with different toppings, sauces drizzled on top, and some green onions. Some rolls were a bit too sweet from the sauce, others a little salty from the roe. It was creative, but nothing that really blew me away. The place has a nice warm wooden table vibe and the lighting is good for photos. Service was quick, no long wait. Price-wise, it felt a little expensive for Durham -- four rolls and we weren't super impressed with the value. I had already looked at the menu online and knew what I wanted: shoyu ramen. The order was served with a spoon, a side plate and a paper towel. There was 1 soft-boiled cut into two halves and ample amounts of scallion, menma and braised pork belly. The latter had a rich flavor, helped in no small part by the pork and chicken broth. Not only that, the broth complimented the rest of the ingredients; the egg was enjoyable. My only (minor) complaint is the portion size of the ramen itself. It was smaller than I would like. The lady that served me was probably (best guess) the owner. Her service was impeccable. In addition, Kinoko has a pleasing amenity not found in most restaurants: an AC outlet at every table that was by the wall. This was very handy for a heavy user of laptops and phones like myself. Although there was music playing in the background, it wasn't loud. The server and I were able to hear each other, and I could also hear the voices of others at the bar. The restroom had an interesting decor of newspapers for wallpaper. That was something I didn't see elsewhere. If you love good ramen, come to Kinoko Ramen. If you like a quiet place to dine in, come to Kinoko Ramen. Perfect scores in food, service and atmosphere.

It wasn't crowded, but it was doing a lot of takeout for a ramen spot (generally a food best enjoyed fresh). The mala ramen (a mix of spicy and tingly sensations) that I sought delivered on the premise. It was a fascinating flavor mix, with some harsh notes that would be a discovery for those that haven't had mala before working well because of the balance of salty and savory flavors and some nice greens and sweet corn. It was unique and I enjoyed it. They had some appetizers and things that I wasn't hungry enough for, but I did wash it down with tea. It was a very reasonable price given how the hipster ramen market has gone. And they had enough menu options that returning would be worthwhile. I ended up going to the other local ramen place anyway the next day, and I would say that both were really good. You can't go wrong.
