The low sodium soy sauce that the waitress kept insisting was gluten free.
Samantha R.

This was our favorite sushi spot, it's small and intimate; however, we no longer feel it's safe for us to eat here anymore. We asked for gluten free soy sauce (tamari). They brought us the low sodium soy sauce with our sashimi orders. When we asked again, our waitress informed us that they no longer carry the gluten free soy sauce. A few minutes later she came back to our table and told us it was gluten free soy sauce in a low sodium bottle. We would have just continued eating our sashimi without any sauce, but she kept coming back to convince us to use the low sodium soy sauce. I finally just told her I don't trust anything that isn't labeled gluten free. Then as we were paying our check, she was still trying to convince us that it was gluten free.

We came here on a Sunday for lunch. It's located in the Poughkeepsie train station with plenty of parking available. I was excited to see takoyaki on the menu, they were delicious and with plenty of octopus meat inside, but the order only had 5 takoyaki... wish it was more! The sushi were fresh and well portioned, the meal set came with soup and salad, which is always appreciated. Great place for lunch!

$11.95 lunch special includes salad. This is my second time here. I live in NYC and couldn't wait to return.

This is my second time here. I love how the taste of the food and the excellent service along with the wine and drink options gives me the impression that I am in a fine dining establishment. The food is freshly prepared and delicious and with value rated prices.

Walking in, the place is very cozy and intimate. There is a decent amount of seating and has dim lighting, could be used as a cute date night spot or if you want some pretty good sushi. Going on a Thursday night, it wasn't busy at all and got seated right away. The server was friendly and welcoming, was attentive on anything we needed as well (filling waters, taking orders, boxes for leftovers). The food was great and worth the price tag, both the rolls (spicy tuna and spicy scallop) tasted fresh and my friend who ordered the special rolls was satisfied as his ordered was surprisingly large. Not the normal sized rolls, so if you do order the special rolls, they are sizable. If you're looking for sushi in the area, I would check this place out.

Spicy Seafood Salad

Pretty quite place, I noticed and seems more of take out then sit in, all things considered, the service was pretty lukewarm at best. Like half of the staff was sitting down eating then doing much. Still the ones working did acknowledge me and my friend and were polite and pretty patient considering it took a while to settle on what to get. The spicy seafood salad was alright, I mean could been spicier and the shredded cucumber could been much more thinner since it was way more the actual seafood anything. The sushi cake was very good, plenty of salmon and tuna, not too thick avocado slices and some finely diced mango plus plenty of sauce to spoon onto each bite. Did find it odd, when the menu listed the cake it said your two selected seafood and it did not list them and when I asked the waitress it was like she had no idea, I mean you should know the menu ahead of me since you work there. Angry dragon roll was definitely the best part, a fully loaded roll with a decent amount of lobster salad on top, crunchy shrimp tempura on the inside, the usual creamy avocado slices and spicy diced tuna as well, honestly hard to eat the pieces in one bite. I do like eel sauce and spicy mayo on top to really brush the pieces into for more flavor, but I will tell I wonder what the pink sauce was, I joked to my friend and was like is that pepto basmal , haha still great food, and next time definitely get food here take out instead

I absolutely love, love sushi. And with that said, I'm also super picky when it comes to sushi. I've tried too many bad sushi places and I'm always uneasy when I try a new spot. The taste of bad sushi in your mouth lingers and it's an awful thing. I am happy to report that I actually enjoyed my sushi from this place. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was pretty good. I would have preferred if the sushi rice was a bit more soft but it wasn't bad. Perfect sushi rice is truly an art. The sushi definitely tasted fresh, was ready quickly and the presentation was lovely. I would order from this location again. I'd love to try something new on my next visit.

I visited Lola's Cafe with my sister while walking on the Walkway over the Hudson Trail, in fact, if you're on the trail and go down the staircase that points to downtown Poughkeepsie Lola's is right to your left when you get off the staircase. We ate the autumn, chicken salad, wrap, and the Baja chicken wrap. My sister is gluten-free and was delighted they had menus with their gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. The staff member who took our orders was kind and generous in his service. Interestingly they also sell coffee beans, merch, and to-go foods from their kitchen. On my next visit, I look forward to trying the cheesecake and one of their bowls, paninis, or salads!

You order at the counter and take a seat at the counter or tables. Their menu offers reasonably priced sandwiches, salads, and grab and go baked goods, including separate menus for vegans. We enjoyed the special chicken tzaziki wrap, salmon salad (tender and tasty), the vegan quinoa bowl was ok but a bit small and not too exciting. They also were preparing catering offers and there was a pretty constant stream of customers. The space is rather small but we got there at a good time to find seating. They also have a tap water station. There's only gender neutral bathroom, which makes for a little wait at times. Street parking and a small lot a short walk away.

My order was receiving mixed reviews: the salad I got was very small and the bowl did not allow for mixing, so a messy endeavor at best. The staff is really friendly, so the service hits a five. Loss of stars is for the price and the inconsistent quality of the ingredients.

I'm so glad I found this spot--it was exactly what I needed to reset. Food: 4/5 I ordered an ahi tuna poke bowl and a smoothie, and overall, it hit the mark. The tuna wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still solid--fresh enough and well-balanced with the toppings. The smoothie, though, was delicious. I'd honestly come back just for that alone--it was cooling, clean, and packed with flavor. Atmosphere: 5/5 The interior design here is beautiful--very calm, airy, and just a peaceful place to sit for a bit. It felt like the kind of space where you could relax, journal, or just quietly enjoy a meal without the bustle of a typical café. Really appreciated that. Service & Price: This is more of a counter-service place--order at the front and grab a seat. No complaints there; everything came out pretty quickly and the staff was kind. As far as price goes: yes, it's on the higher end. A bowl + smoothie can easily run you over $30 which feels like a lot when compared to, say, a hearty Italian sandwich around the corner. But I get it--healthy food often just costs more. For me, it was worth it this time around. Overall: If you're in the area and looking to take a break from heavier meals, this is a lovely spot. It's not a cheap bite, but it's fresh, clean, and satisfying. I'll definitely be back for a smoothie if I'm nearby.

It kept spitting out the quarters we put in except one so we had to go back to the car. Well the damn machine just took the quarter and timed out. What a scam. We could only get bills to work so we had to put in $2 and of course, it didn't give change. The place is inside The Academy and I can see where they were trying to go with the idea, but it has fallen flat. No one was in there at lunch time. Literally no one. The smash burger did not have crisp edges like a good smash burger should. It was just soggy and mashed together. It was very unappetizing. The fries were alright as well as the strawberry lemonade. They're already premade in the fridge. The Academy building does have bathrooms inside, but again, it's not well taken care of. There were no paper towels, toilet paper was just sitting on top of the dispenser rather than inside it. It's like they just abandoned the idea.
