I've come here twice now and am glad to have found this restaurant. The fish quality is great and the price is reasonable. The parking lot is tiny, but there's street parking in the residential area. The restaurant is small with some tables and bar seating. The staff are attentive and and service was pretty quick. I've tried the omakase and I definitely recommend it. There's a $125 and $175 option for omakase, with the difference being the number of pieces. My group wasn't super hungry so we picked the $125 and we were very full at the end. I also got the matcha lychee highball. It's easy to drink and you don't notice the alcohol. I came a second time to order from the menu. The omakase had a small bowl of their mentaiko mazemen that was so good, we came back to order the entree. I also tried the chirashi. All the fish is seasoned so you don't need soy sauce. The rice is also seasoned. The fish was fresh and the portion size is pretty big. Also tried their scallop carpaccio which was very buttery smooth. The matcha creme brulee was a miss for me. It's very strong in matcha flavor (which I like), but the consistency was too soft. I think when they caramelized the sugar, the custard heated up too much so it was more runny than thick. Definitely coming again to explore more of the menu.
Came on a weekday at noon. Right at 12 the every seat in the restaurant was filled, and there's a reason why! I came for the lunch special specifically the sushi & sashimi plate. I'm a big fan of variety and this lunch special really hit the spot! The fish is fresh & there's not too much rice in each bite. The sides are also a big plus too. Overall, having lunch here did not disappoint!!
For 2, we ordered sushi deluxe, mentaiko pasta, mixed tempura, akami don set, and salmom handroll. My favorite would be the sushi deluxe's chutoro. It was soft and melted in my mouth. They let you choose between tuna or negitoro for the sushi roll in the sushi deluxe but negitoro is an additional $3 The mentaiko pasta tasted like the sea. Although im not a fan of uni or roe it was good. Akami don set came with yellow tail sashimi and after you finish the fish, yoh can tell them and they will add soup in it for you to finish off the rice. I wished they gave more seaweed to make a baby handroll for the akami don though. The tempera was light and crispy but it was hard to eat the enoki because it was 1 big piece. I also like soy paper now so i tried the soy paper handroll with salmon. It was good but eel is probably better for soy paper rolls. Service here was really good. They explained why the bar was blocking off the view as akami opened during covid time so they had to block the view from customers and chef. It would be too expensive to change so maybe in the far future they will be able to. Parking is very small but you can either park in the back or on the streets.
The fish was reasonably priced and decent. I like the clean interior, and their service ware was beautiful. We came here for lunch to celebrate my bday. The place started filling up closer to 1pm. The cocktails were pretty good, and I love how the glasses that they served our large beer with. I would return if I'm in the hood.
Best sushi I have had in a while. The staff was great and very knowledgeable with recommendations. We tried a few things that I can't even remember, but they were all great. Some of our favorites were the king salmon sushi, blue fin tuna sushi, halibut fin sushi and A5 wagyu sushi. Inside has the layout similar to the former Mako Sushi just more modern.
My friend heard great things about this place so we came here for Tuesday night dinner. I didn't know how the Yelp waitlist worked but they have a little sign out front explaining it. Basically you join the waitlist then check in with the host and that's how you get on. It was deceiving just looking at the Yelp because it always showed a 0 minute wait time. It probably took us an hour to get seated which was crazy. It is a small interior so it was a given we'd wait. Takoyaki (3/5): Standard takoyaki. Not much octopus. Soft shell crab (4/5): This was free because we waited so long. It was good. Nice fry on it. Not oily. Mentaiko mazemen (4/5): This had temomi noodles which are thick and chewy wheat noodles. It was topped with a cod roe sauce, white truffle oil and ikura. It was a good noodle dish. It wasn't too salty and the sauce was creamy. Portion was small. Rainbow roll (5/5): The assorted fish tasted fresh. It was a good sized roll. Sushi set premium (5/5): This set was perfect. It came with a few sides, a bowl of rice, and a good assortment of sashimi. There was yellow tail, salmon, toro, tuna, snapper?, egg, and cooked salmon. The little seaweed salad was good too. Overall, a great dinner spot for sushi. I'll probably come back and join the online waitlist faster. You can't make a reservation for regular seating, only omakase.
Tucked in a small plaza on Live oak is Akami sushi with a homey comfortable vibe. Sat at the bar twice with my first experience trying the deluxe sashimi. The portions are good. The fish is fresh and thick pieces. So I was really excited to give it another try for other stuff that they have to offer. The overall service is friendly and they can't refill waters or ask you if you need anything else. Went back again for dinner this time and order their special Kaisen Don along with a vegetable tempura. The tempura is decent with good portions. The Kaisen Don however, turn out to be a disappointment for me personally. I hardly ate a fourth of the bowl. The sauce that you see right on the top with an egg yolk inside is the drizzling sauce for the Kaisen Don. The sauce is very overpowering. It even has a little bit of more a sweeter side tone to it that I don't think really compliments the overall seafood inside the Kaisen Don ask the Kai and Don already contains quite a lot of Ikura, which is already salty, and the crab creaminess is completely covered by the sauce so you cannot taste the sweetness of the crab. I would probably opt for a lighter sauce version or even just a regular ponzu sauce to drizzle over it might be enough to highlight the fish taste, and the freshness of the Kaisen Don. For very similar price I would probably recommend getting the sashimi deluxe version instead of the Kaisen Don. You actually get more pieces of thick cut fish instead of in the Kaisen. It's all diced fish pieces so cannot tell if those fishes are the leftovers from sashimi slices. Either fish is still really fresh, but I personally would recommend the sashimi over the Don. The chef at the sushi bar did notice I wasn't really eating my Kai symptoms so they asked what happened and I explained to them that the sauce is really strong and overpowering. It's very hard to finish the bowl. I am definitely not requesting for an entire replacement of the meal but instead I was just given a vanilla ice cream as a apology so slightly disappointing for spending $60 I believe plus tax and tip for something that I didn't even eat a quarter of. I would still give this restaurant another try for some other food or maybe just go back for their Sashimi deluxe or even their Chirashi bowl. Overall, I would give it a 3.5 star with the two experiences that I had dining there. Hope that would change next time I go~
Found this place recently, and have been back 3 times so far. Not only is the food good, the service is also exceptional! The service is fast paced and the servers tend to you really quickly. The restaurant also gives a very Japanese vibe, with bars and tables options. I would say the most notable nigiri here is their engawa (halibut fin). It's generous and fragrant. Another notable dish is the mentaiko pasta. As someone who does not like mentaiko, I vouch that this is really good! Another thing to add is that they carry different variety of fishes that I have never seen in other restaurants before. One thing I have to mention is that the restaurant is a bit small, and while street parking is an option, parking can still be challenging especially during dinner time.
Had a great experience at Akami sushi yesterday. We got there around 5:15 pm, and the restaurant is about 50% full. We ordered $125 omakase and it was delicious. It came w appetizers, sashimi, tempura, 2 plates of sushi, 1 hand roll, pasta, soup and dessert. Quality of fish was excellent, and each sushi came with different sauce (light) and garnish (unique and delicious). Ikura pasta was also my favorite, so flavorful and pasta was al dente. Definitely coming back!
We celebrated my friend's birthday here and everything was amazing. The modern minimalistic decor was the first thing that caught my eye. The left side of the restaurant had tables and the right side was the sushi bar. It felt cozy, but not crowded. Service was good and the food was exquisite. We ordered the toro uni caviar crispy bite to share and oh my gah, it was pristine. The uni tasted so fresh, straight from the sea. The toro was melt in your mouth and the caviar added the perfect amount of saltiness. We each got the sushi deluxe set and were able to try 11 different types of nigiri, a toro roll, and tamago. All the sushi tasted fresh and the rice was perfectly tempered. We also added the white dragon roll. I don't usually like soy paper wraps but this one was really good. It was seasoned well and umami-rich. I would order it again. The chili mango cocktail was the best! You can barely taste the alcohol. I could drink 5 of those! I will definitely be back with the hubby for date night.
The restaurant is in a small plaza in Arcadia. First time here. Few times for others. The restaurant opens at 5 pm. We arrived there 5 minutes before 5 and the line already started. I ordered ice green tea. It's better than others since it made fresh, not from bottle. Also ordered a dish called Rock & Roll and a soft shell crab hand roll. Ate all up. Very good especially the sushi rice. Others ordered Kaisen Futomaki, Blossom Roll,and a dish called Mentaiko Mazemen with Truffle (see picture). It's an interesting dish. It's a noodle marinated with some kind of sauce which tasted deliciously. One of my favorite dish. Servers are attentive and friendly. Price a little high but the quality is good.
We came to this place for lunch at around 12pm and were lucky to sit right away. We ordered several things Mentaiko mazemen 4/5. I extremely love the sauce, buttery and eggy. However, the noodles are a little hard, not at al dente level to me. I still recommend this dish a lot though Kaisen don 4/5. I don't recommend pouring in the soup as instructed. I liked to eat it dry as it was. The fish was fresh. Lots of unami flavor with the egg yolk added. I wish they gave me more seaweed though. There were only 2 pieces. Premium sushi set 5/5 were so big. All the fishes were fresh. The little citrusy, gingery add on to the top makes the sushi tastes distinctively unique and refreshing, balancing between ocean and land. Overall I wish they give me bigger glasses of water I need more water refills. My friend and I were finishing the water constantly. Service otherwise was good. I would come back.
Truly a hidden gem. It gets a bit busy but this place hasn't hit the feverish long lines yet but it's definitely getting there. Sure, there are plenty of sushi spots in the area but Akami keeps it simple and classy, just as it does with it's decor. The restaurant seats maybe 10 tables at most so it's hard to accommodate large parties, but the intimacy of service is really nice. The fish is always fresh and the platters have very good variety. But the signature dish we come for is the mentaiko pasta! Creamy, umami and rich in mentaiko, must try! The restaurant is tucked in a small plaza with a laundromat and liquor store so parking is limited in the small plaza but there's plenty of street parking as well.
What a steal!! $38 for 10 pieces of nigiri and 6 pieces of tuna roll. The bluefin tuna though *chefs kiss* Small intimate setting in the 626 but pretty comparable to sugarfish. Wait time wasn't bad at all during weeknights, but make sure to use the yelp check in! Would love to come back and try their other specialty dishes and $100 omakase. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and boy it was busy! I've been to this place previously and recalled the sushi there wasn't good-- and now Akami Sushi has taken over. Been meaning to try a this place didn't disappoint! My only cons about this place is the size of the restaurant and parking. Because it's such a small place, they can only fit ~10-15 ppl max and as such, the yelp waitlist gets LONG. They are only open direct select times and especially during lunch, it was a bit chaotic. They do offer Yelp Waitlist so definitely check-in PRIOR to coming is the move. The parking lot is super small so just do the street parking on Lenore Ave is your best bet. My friend and I ordered the following items: 1. Kaisen Don: 10/10 This was delicious! So many cuts of fish (tuna, toro, yellowtail, roe, etc) all placed in one bowl with rice. There was also a mushroom soup (rather bland) and soy marinated egg that went with it, along with seaweed to make into hand rolls. Plenty of side dishes too and presentation was nice. This was located on their weekly specials and not the menu itself. 2. Mentaiko Mazemen: 7/10 I've had Mentaiko before at other paces and usually found it pretty salty. However, this was honestly really tasty and not salty at all. Can still taste the Mentaiko and roe, and the noodles were QQ texture. Very delicious and surprisingly filling. Would recommend! 3. Salmon truffle carpaccio: 6/10 My friend wants this but we decided not to get it because it was going to be a lot of food. This was actually "on the house" because the server moved us to a different table. We were very shocked by their kindness and hospitality towards us. The salmon was soft but felt like it was overly seasoned with the soy sauce. So not my favorite dish but it was complimentary! Overall, I had a really nice time here and the servers were all really kind! I felt bad because the place closed by 2 PM but my friend and I talked until 2:40 PM and they didn't kick us out. This place definitely was super delicious and would go again during non-busy times... pretty on-par with Sushi Kisen but a bit more expensive. Would want to try their omakase next time! read more
I was craving sushi and debating between going somewhere I've been prior or going somewhere new. I decided to try something new so I made my way to Sushi Akami. They have a tight lot in the front. It was only after I parked that I saw that there's additional parking in the back but I'm not sure if it's more spacious or not. When I got there the restaurant was only half filled. I didn't have to wait at all. Since I was alone I sat at the bar area. Unfortunately there was a lot of rice spilled on the floor from previous guests and I stepped in it. It made my flip flops all gross and sticky after. I mentioned it to their staff and the reaction didn't seem like they care much. I'm like well I hope you clean it so the person after me doesn't step into it too. *eye roll* I ended up ordering their Sashimi Premium Set ($52) which came with 18 slices of 6 different proteins AND Uni, which was the big selling point for me. The less premium one comes with 15 slices of 5 different proteins. The meals also comes with miso soup and rice. When the set arrived it was really visually appealing. The fish was crealy high quality. However compared to similar tier restaurant and pricing, the cuts were smaller and although most were decent, there was one piece with the sinew or some type of connective tissue interuptting my enjoyment. Oh another thing I didn't like is how their water glass is so small, staff would have to refill it frequently even though I probably drank less than a normal glass of water. Not functional and very disruptive. To get the full experience I decided to get dessert. I was recommended their signature dessert, the Shio Koji Ice Cream ($7). It had subtle sweetness and a nice salty kick and cereal like toppings for crunch. I would have enjoyed it more if the space wasn't so tight and they were shifting folks around. I literally even mentioned I'm almost done and they can have my spot. It just got too hectic. Keep in mind I was limited on how I can sit and avoid that rice pile below me. Also a car alarm went off in the parking lot and I was stressed to check on my car so I started wrapping up. This parking lot is too tight. I don't mind paying for quality but there were also some big misses here. The fish they bought were all premium but their staff can treat it better. Not bad, but there is another sushi spot nearby that has similar quality for larger cuts at a more competitive pricing. I prefer a place where I can enjoy without stressing so much. read more

The fish quality was good! We ordered the salmon and negitoro handroll, the lemon roll, mentaiko mazemen along with the sushi deluxe set. The lemon roll and the mentaiko mazemen are must orders. The lemon roll tasted fresh and the flavors blended very well together. The mentaiko mazemen was also very flavorful and the ikura (fish eggs) weren't too salty! The salmon and negitoro hand rolls were decent as well. I would skip on the sushi deluxe set. Nothing really stood out about this set and honestly tasted like your average nigiri that you can get from x-fish izakaya. Service was good. Servers were attentive and took the time to explain any questions we had on the menu. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller end but very clean. They have a few parking spots in the front and additional parking in the back lot. read more

Came in on a Tuesday night for dinner with a friend. We didn't make a reservation, but luckily didn't need one; only a few tables were occupied when we arrived. The space is small, cute, and gives off intimate vibes. It's located in a small corner plaza with limited parking in the front, but there's also parking in the back. I personally parked on the street with no issues. We ordered: * Crispy Rice w/ Spicy Tuna * Bluefin Tuna Burrata * Mentaiko Mazemen * Salmon Roll (classic) * Baked Crab Salmon Roll * Red Dragon Roll * Matcha Lychee Highball * Shio Koji Homemade Ice Cream Everything was delicious, but my top favorites were the Bluefin Tuna Burrata, Mentaiko Mazemen, Baked Crab Salmon Roll, Matcha Lychee Highball, and the Shio Koji Ice Cream. I would absolutely order all of these again. The Bluefin Tuna Burrata was surprisingly amazing. You don't usually think of pairing fish with cheese, but this worked beautifully; rich, fresh, and perfectly balanced. You have to try it. The Mentaiko Mazemen had the perfect creamy, umami flavor and was constantly craving it. I couldn't stop thinking about it even after the meal. The Baked Crab Salmon Roll is not your typical baked roll. It felt like a cleaner, more elegant take, not overly creamy or heavy. The components were separated into pieces, which I really appreciated, and it made the roll feel more refined. The Matcha Lychee Highball was light, refreshing, and perfectly sweet, super easy to drink. I'll definitely be trying a different cocktail next time. For dessert, the Homemade Shio Koji Ice Cream was so unique and creamy, with crispy rice puffs on top that added a nice texture. A great way to end the meal. Overall, the quality of the food and fish was fresh, well executed, and unique in flavor. This visit definitely made me excited to come back and try more of the menu. read more
I love coming to Akami, the staff is always so attentive and explains all the omakase items well. Just wished the restaurant can expand a bit so larger groups or more customers can enjoy some yummy food like I did! The food is always so fresh and I wish some of the omakase items can also be available on the regular menu. My ultimate favorite from this restaurant though is their fermented rice ice cream!!! Don't be deterred by the name, there isn't really any alcohol flavor, I wish I knew how to make it so I can explain this better it's creamy but on the denser side, slightly savory, sweet, aroma from the popped rice (I think...?). Man, they can totally sell this item at local markets and it'd be a big hit!!! read more

Amazing food. It was seriously impeccable: I love sushiya, and this place is one of the best. I ordered the sashimi deluxe, which was a great deal at only $39. I was informed that the premium version came with more pieces and included uni, but I'm unfortunately not a fan of uni...and the deluxe was honestly very filling already. Beautiful presentation, and obviously skilled knife work as you might expect. It all tasted so good-- Wherever this place sources their fish from, it is top tier. Super fresh, perfect texture and taste. I also tried the signature bluefin tuna, which comes with burrata. Definitely a less traditional preparation, but I really liked it. It had a strong truffle flavor that complemented it well. It has a little bit of kizami wasabi that I would have liked more of, just for an extra bit of zing. There's a small parking lot shared with several other stores, but there's also ample street parking. It looks pretty nondescript on the outside, but the interior is bright and clean. AKAMI WHAT I GOT: Sushi premium set 12 nigiri included uni & ikura , 6 pc negitoro (it is fatty part of tuna) Las Vegas roll : so fresh, generous amount of baked scallop and eel sauce is so yummy and flavorful !! If you love eel sauce this is a MUST! I didn't even need to add any soy sauce. Spicy tuna hand roll x2 Eel Avocado roll : warm fresh delicious Matcha lychee Mocktail : BEST LYCHEE drink that's fruity , I've ever had , it's a sparkling refreshing sweet drink. This place is nice and cozy , but got that Japanese premium vibe. Great customer service , everyone is really chill and kind. I'm glad there is easy parking in small plaza. 10/10 ! Such a great sushi spot! The interior is super cute and cozy, and it definitely fills up fast, so go early if you can. The sushi is incredibly fresh, and the sashimi sets are especially delicious and generous. Service is quick and friendly, which makes the experience even better. Prices are decent for the quality you get. Definitely recommend if you're craving good sushi! read more
such a pleasant find! make sure to join the waitlist as it gets pretty busy during dinner hours. it's a small place :) we got the sushi premium set and it was perfect. i love their rice!!! the cuts of fish were so fresh and melted in my mouth. my favorite was the scallop!! also got the salmon crab truffle crudo, and the crab was soooo soft and the flavors of the truffle and sesame sauce were amazing! also melted in my mouth. i would love to come another time to try the omakase! read more

AKAMI | Visited 12/27/25 -Salmon Truffle Carpaccio 22 Loved how the truffle came through perfectly and not too overwhelming, if thats even possible. This caught my eye the most because of the truffle and yuzu combo which was absolutely worth it. I would order this again. -Chirashi 39 This was super filling. I shared half with my boyfriend and would definitely do again to try more items on the menu. Great option if you need more to get full but still want a variety of fish. -Sushi Premium 55 This was amazing, loved the freshness of the fish and how the chef added pickled fresh wasabi or added yuzu on top. Also ordered this to share but I would get my own next time to enjoy each piece, not worth cheaping out. - Miso Butter Ice Cream This was surprisingly delicious with the added crunch on top. Can't remember the price but the texture and creaminess alone was memorable but not sure I would order again. The ambiance was good also featured a mens and women single occupancy bathroom. Very impressed by the quality and presentation of the food here! My party of 5 ordered one sashimi premium set, one chicken teriyaki + sashimi set, two specialty rolls, and one negitoro roll and it was the perfect amount for us. The fish tasted so fresh and tasty. The waitresses were very nice and attentive. It is a smaller place and they don't take reservations so there may be a bit of a wait if you come during peak hours. read more
This place doesn't have much parking mostly on the street. Minimal wait time and the service was attentive and fast. Ordered the king crab chawanmushi and sashimi combo. The fish was fresh and tasty and the chawanmushi was light and savory with a hint of sweetness. Would come again. read more

First time visiting and we will be back again and again. Debated writing review cuz I really wanted to gatekeep but this place is awesome! Everything was so amazingly good! Super, super, super good sushi. Been wanting to try this place ever since it opened. There's a parking lot in front with extra space in the back and street parking available. Inside is small, but very clean with the typical minimalistic/simple decor of a sushi restaurant. Service is very good and attentive. There's a core menu and a specials menu available. My hubby took me here for my birthday and we ordered: -takoyaki - freshly hot with perfectly cooked octopus, crispy on the outside -mixed tempura - also very freshly prepared and hot with a dipping sauce -uni mazesoba - loved the al dente chewy noodles and generous amounts of roe -scallop carpaccio - SO delicious, loved the tart citrus that paired well with the fresh and sweet scallops -ootoro sushi - definitely an indulgence, but absolutely just melts in your mouth -yellowtail sushi - really good take on this class, the sushi rice here is so good -rainbow roll - to round off our meal we selected this to get some variety in cuts of fish -match creme brûlée - a birthday treat, complements of Akami; it was so yummy and just full of matcha flavor because it wasn't too sweet, slightly bitter, really enjoyed this All in all, I really enjoyed the sushi here. Everything tasted and looked amazing. Osawa and Sushi Kisen are some of my favorite sushi places/Japanese restaurants, but I'm definitely also adding Akami to this list. Brought my friend here for her first omakase and it was a great experience overall. We opted for the $175 course and it was definitely too much food for us but still enjoyed it. The server explained our courses thoroughly and was very friendly. Would definitely come back again next time! read more
i really do love it here. the quality is always amazing and i keep coming back! i always love ordering the tea here and just enjoying it throughout the entire dinner service. fish always is so fresh and delicious. service is always quite and prompt. came here for my birthday and enjoyed everything about it! space isn't the biggest but that's what makes it's nice and cozy read more

Amazing!!! On another level!!! They have the traditional sushi and roll menu and their own "SPECIALTY Sushi" and their "SPECIALTY ROLLS' menu is literally on another level, Especially their Signature Roll, Akami Roll is the ultimate save THE BEST FOR LAST roll for your Akami experience!! I stopped by for dinner tonight. They are having a special buy 1 beer, get one free for their anniversary. Time flies! Food quality is still amazing since my last visit. Akami Sushi in Arcadia is a great spot with super fresh ingredients and beautifully prepared sushi. The place is clean and cozy, it's a small place so I feel like people don't chat much in there. Its just a spot of u are craving for super fresh sushi! Exceptional quality: Ultra-fresh fish and premium ingredients, especially the uni and toro. Omakase experience: Thoughtfully curated, beautifully plated, and well-balanced flavors. Limited seating: Can get full quickly; reservations highly recommended. I'm not a big fan of spicy tuna though so I was a bit sad I couldn't sub this for something else. - Sushi Premium (5/5): Quite a bit more expensive than the sushi lunch but still well worth the price. The negitoro was much better than the spicy tuna, and my bf was particularly a big fan of the bluefin tuna (2 pc for Sushi Premium and 1 pc for the Sushi lunch), and the crab nigiri was much appreciated and tasty. Overall: Good vibey interior - we liked the earthy decor, not very noisy at all, appreciated the side dishes that were served alongside both sushi sets. The miso soup was also quite good and the perfect level of salty, and the quality of fish was better than some others that we've paid more for. We'd come back for sure in the future. 10/10 stars!!!!! this was my second time here at Akami, but first time having their 16 course omakase. extremely impressed by the fish, quality, and taste. i loved EVERY SINGLE COURSE especially the salmon, toro, uni plate and also the dessert!!!! i can't choose a favorite, EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. would recommend everyone to try their omakase at least once in their lives. service was great, everyone was friendly and attentive. it was also surprisingly busy for a rainy sunday night which just shows how great Akami is. i'm already looking forward to coming back again :) read more
Came here for anniversary dinner. Definitely returning. Service was spectacular. Food was delicious. The salmon crab crudo, OMG! The mentaiko mazemen, YUM! Crispy rice spicy salmon, dragon roll, yellow tail carpaccio, delicious. Ambiance was simple, well lit - didn't have to bust out the flashlight to see the menu! Small restaurant so make reservations or come early otherwise there will be a wait that is well worth it. Looking forward to bringing the fam here! They can accommodate larger parties but call ahead! 3.2/5 Food- I appreciate the attention to detail for the chirashi rice. Most places have the rice super hot and poorly cooked. This place they not only seasoned the rice but also chilled it for 5-10 min. This lower temperature complements the sashimi. Sashimi was decent however not outstanding or memorable. Service- I went in around opening hour, the staff was nice but seemed exhausted to be there. Ambiance- modern, clean, and intimate. Parking- small lot. I would recommend to come as early as possible to avoid driving around to find parking. read more
came here after the water lantern festival with my gf and ended up super filled. we got the sushi premium set, which consisted of 12 pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll along with a few side dishes. I wish we were given what 12 pieces of Nigiri we ended up with. but we didn't as service lacked and it was not on the menu. however, the fish and food were so good and fresh. The tuna literally melted in our mouths, and I can confidently say that this was one of my favorite sushi spots. we also got the uni pasta or the Uni Mazemen with an additional charge of Uni on top. We thought it was super tasteful and pretty rich. Defiantly good to fill us up. we then got the salmon crab truffle Crudo which was my favorite dish of the night. The crab filling and salmon literally melted in your mouth, and it was so flavorful. You can taste the truffle sauce and the caviar on top made it taste more of an earthy fishy mature flavor which made it a 10/10. We got the live oak roll which had fried scallops on top. It was a pretty solid roll nothing too out of the ordinary. There are a few things to know, the waitlist status took significantly longer than expected and ended up getting seated 45 minutes rather than 15 minutes - 30 minutes which is not their fault as it is a smaller restaurant. Another thing was the service. After we placed our order, it was nonexistent. They didn't ask us how our food was, didn't check up on us, nor did they refill our waters until I had to flag them down and asked them for a water refill, and the check. For that it brought my experience down half a star. Overall food was amazing, service was eh-, and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice (omakase bar style). 9/10 read more

DELICIOUS! The services was great! Our waitress was so kind! The food was amazing. The Uni mazemen was to die for! We got the premium sushi set and the sushi deluxe set! I would highly recommend it ! Will definitely come back :) read more

It takes a lot to truly wow me with sushi. The traditional stuff is good, but sometimes if a slight twist is executed well, the end result is just *chefs kiss*. Akami is truly unmatched in terms of quality of fish, combination of flavors, aesthetics and cost. Our servers were also super attentive and nice. At least for my personal experience during weekend lunch, we had bar seating but didn't feel rushed. Uni mazemen (4.5/5): I've had my fair share of uni pastas but this one hits different. The umami uni flavor really penetrates and coats each and every individual noodle. Paired with the delicious burst of salt from the ikura, the combination is just right. Crab chawanmushi (4/5): this one is a little on the expensive side but I think it's worth a try. The egg is not overdone and it feels very flavored. The touch of sweetness from the crab goes very well with the savory truffle oil. Bluefin tuna and burrata (5/5): something quite experimental but shockingly works very well!!! I would get this again without hesitation. The cheese isn't overpowering because it's paired with a slight sweetness from the honey drizzled on top. It sounds blasphemous for sushi, I know, but don't knock it until you try it. Sashimi deluxe set (5/5): pretty good bang for your buck. There's a variety of different fishes that are fresh, and one particular standout for me was the scallop and cucumber paired with some black pepper and yuzu - perfect bite that has me salivating thinking about it. Also liked the fried lotus root, negitoro and tamago. Good amount of food for one person as well since the sets come with miso soup and side dishes (the tofu with sesame dressing was my fav!) Chirashi set: my friend ordered this one but it also looked and tasted amazing (according to her). The rice is seasoned and there's a variety of fish flavors on top - so don't even need to add soy sauce. She did say the shrimp was just okay. Shio koji ice cream (4.5/5): one of the reasons I wanted to try Akami was because I saw this as an ice cream option! Never had it before but it was nice. Kind of reminiscent of white chocolate with bits of crunchiness from the rice crispies on top. Interesting texture and fun to try. read more
We've been to Akami many times. We love their Sushi Dinner Set. Fresh fish and decent portion. We finally got to tried the Omakase dinner. Instead of serving piece by piece, it was served plate style, which I don't mind. They said the meal would take about 1.5-2 hours. Which I thought was kinda long but It actually took about 1hr 15mins. Which was perfect. Make reservation on yelp if you want to do the omakase to avoid waiting. They get pretty busy on weekend dinners. read more
Passed by this place many times and I'm so glad I tried it! The fish quality is great for the price! I really enjoyed the 12pc sushi set n loved every bite! One of my favorite things was the mentaiko mazemen and the ikura&uni donburi! The service was very good and the food came out fairly fast! Top tier sushi experience. They have limited seating in a confined interior, so there will be a long wait during weekends. I waited 45 minutes on Saturday night but it was worth the wait. The sushi premium set was filled with lots of high quality options and perfect for variety and quite filling. Staff are all very friendly and the interior is beautiful and clean. read more

Fortunately had the opportunity to try this place for lunch. Located in a small parking lot but I believe you can also park on the streets if ever the lot is full. Love the sushi selection we got, thought it was super worth the price. The uni pasta was slightly under-seasoned (in my opinion) so I most likely won't be getting that again. The pasta was al dente and was good if you're looking something more subtle. We had the opportunity to try the ice cream dessert and it was soooo good. The rice pop on top gave a really nice texture to the ice cream. Would definitely add this to our meal the next time we visit! read more
Honestly one of my favorite sushi restaurants, I always find time to come when my dad is in town. Very nice place with menu items at different price points. When going for a more casual dinner I often get the salmon and ikura donburi. The sushi is always fresh and never disappoints. Hands down favorite is the akami roll, it has everything you can dream of all put together. Only downside is how pricy it is so it's only reserved for special occasions. Other favorites include the monkfish liver, and scallop carpaccio. But honestly nothing ever disappoints. read more
I could tell by the pictures that the food would be delicious and I was right. I was also very pleasantly surprised by their uber competent and friendly staff. The waitress memorized our order and was quick with everything. She got us a small bowl of rice for our baby and I asked for extra cucumbers, they were quick to bring it out. Everything was delicious so no need to put a rating on it. But best dish I would come back for is their special kaisen don. It comes with soup, sashimi, cucumbers, and a raw egg to pour over the bowl. Amazing. The octopus appetizer, crunchy on the outside and meaty on the inside. Sashimi salad, fresh sashimi and tart, ponzu dressing. Blossom roll, I like sour, tart flavor profiles in savory foods so this was a win for me. Husband doesn't like it so much, so he was not a big fan. Chawanmushi, came with crab and truffle. Very flavorful. Ankimo, not chalky, good seasoning, tender. Uni noodles, blew my mouth away. Chewy noodles reminded me of Korean kalgooksoo, with the flavor punch of uni and roe. I wish I was a mukbanger, so I could stomach 10 of these. FYI, very small parking lot. Try to find street parking. Also hard to leave the plaza during dinner due to rush hour. read more
