Ordered food around 7pm, waited an hour for the delivery. Finally got a call from the delivery girl saying I need to come down stair for a pickup. Went downstairs, got a call again saying that they actually did not bring food so i should wait for another delivery. Called the restaurant about this, they said it will be delivered in 5 mins. I gave this burger shop a try, but nothing really "surprised" me in a good way. I've had much better burgers from other places near Purdue, this place is somewhat below average. I don't recommend the onion rings or wings, they aren't worth the money. The only thing I liked was the 12oz coke, that was delicious. read more

Ok the food is good and I really enjoy it every time I order, but this new minimum delivery fee is absurd. I mean you can't even get a typical burger, large fries, and a drink without falling short of the minimum delivery fee by about $3. Then you have to sit around trying to find some other random item just to meet the minimum fee. Coming .05 cents short of the minimum is really annoying too. read more

This is probably one of the only good burger places on campus, but the service is horrendous. I've order 3 times for delivery, each time specifically asking for the "daily deal", and every time they have entered "no meal deal" on my ticket. I cannot believe how low this company will go to make a few extra bucks. I wasn't going to write the review until they did this again, and last night it happened. I ordered the "daily deal" and they individually charged each item than having it under the deal. This business is very petty and has shown through their dishonorable actions. This place will hustle any extra cash they can get out of you. I'm very disappointed that these employees have ruined my experience at AJs on Purdue's campus. This needs to be fixed immediately. If I could give no stars I would. The manager is an idiot with no customer service skills. I work not even two minutes from the store and the order left, just my order, before I arrived at the store. I made it back to my office with still NO FOOD delivered. I called and spoke with the manager who only offered weak pathetic excuses why it took over an hour and a half to deliver two hamburgers. I could have slaughter a cow and ground the meet myself faster than their service. The sad thing is the food is actually good but the staff is AWFUL. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Aj's has probably been the last stop of the night for many of us after the bars and rightfully so. Their selection of not only burgers and hot dogs, but sides (funnel cake fries, mac and cheese bites, you name it) is the perfect selection for anyone that needs their drunchies desire quenched. Even during the day this place hits the spot. There's a small parking lot in the back along with the parking lot in Chauncey for people on the go. Bad ventilation, and poor customer service brought this place down for me. If you go to their store, make sure you bring some sort of breathing apparatus and protective eye wear because of the large amount of smoke you will inhale if you don't. Also, make sure you check your order before you leave the store with a carry-out meal . I ordered a Bacon Burger with grilled onions and tomato. I got home to find no bacon on my sandwich. I called to ask for some sort of compensation and was met with a lethargic answer asking me to drive back and have bacon put on the burger. Not even an offer of a refund which I would have turned down because they were generous enough to offer it. I'm going to 5 Guys from now on. read more

AJ's is locally owned by two guys who moved here from Chicago. It's awesome. For all you Chicago-area people at Purdue, you will love this place because it is just like the great food you can get back at home. I usually get the italian beef, dipped, with sweet peppers. AJ's isn't going to win any awards for being healthy whatsoever but why did I even bring that up, right? My "go to" is the crispy or grilled chicken bacon ranch with buffalo sauce. The bacon, cheese and everything else on this decently sized sammich is perfectly filling. The waffle fries are never soggy and always have a nice crunch! If you have asthma or a problem with smelling like a smoked meat pit when you walk out of there you may want to abstain. For some reason they don't like to properly ventilate their restaurant and all of the smoky goodness swirls around the place like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie. All in all... Ordered sandwiches for takeout. They reversed the toppings on them (bbq on a burger and mushroom and Swiss on chicken reversed to bbq on the burger, etc). Found out too late of course. Scraped bbq off burger but it was horrible. Weird chemical taste. Wouldn't get a burger there again. Grilled chicken is ok. There are definitely better places to eat on campus. read more

If you live towards the edge of their delivery area they will turn down delivery orders when they get backed up. I work nights and used to order from them when I didn't have time to prepare a meal as they are open until 3am. While better than fast food burgers, they're not so good that I would be willing to continue giving them my business after proving to be unreliable/inconsistent in the clutch. There are several better burger restaurants in town, but if you're okay with mediocre food and being letdown regularly, this might be the place for you. read more

Very disappointed. We ordered online for delivery. They completely messed up one of the orders. We asked for cheese, bacon, mayo and ketchup on their 1/2-pound burger and we got it with no cheese, ketchup and mustard. The hot dogs did not seem cooked through and the buns of the burger and beef & cheddar were soggy, almost sodden. The cheese on the beef & cheddar and the hot dogs was the stuff you get at a high school concession for nachos. We will not be ordering from AJ's again and don't recommend it. read more

I can't express how disappointed I was with my lunch today 5/8/14.  I ordered the Jumbo Chicago Dog and an order of Beer Batter Onion Rings.   The hot dog was dressed exactly as a Chicago dog should be, however, it was barely warm. The onion rings were $5.49 for the order and there was a total of 8 rings. I could have bought a 5 lb. bag of onions & batter mix and made bucket load of them at home myself.  Next time.....I will.  Won't be going back. read more

I have been a huge Aj's fan for some time now. I usually eat here at least once or twice every few weeks. Usually I don't have any complaints when I order in the store, but I just ordered via HungryBoiler and I specifically asked, no, begged for a side of mayonnaise (I requested it twice in my order) and a side of buffalo sauce for my mac n cheese bites (definitely recommend eating those two together). I receive my order in a fair amount of time, which is good. I read the receipt carefully attached to my order sack. The order of mayonnaise is on there, and it said BBQ sauce instead of buffalo. I rechecked my order receipt online and I had everything correct on my end. SO I open the bag up and guess what is missing!!!!!!!! NO MAYONNAISE :-). I'm a huge condiment fan, so I was very disappointed that they forgot my mayonnaise as requested TWICE on my order. I love Aj's, don't get me wrong, but I was one very sad customer today. Definitely would recommend that you order in the store instead of online for less confusion on your order. read more

Their quantity is always good, and usually their quality is too. At least it IS pure beef. The only problem I have had with them is most times, the burger is NOT done! I don't like calling to complain (workers tend to get snippy too when you do) but I don't eat raw meat either, ESPECIALLY when paying $10 for a burger! Then it's another 45 minutes to an hour for a replacement delivery. It's just an inconvenience. Their food is good though when cooked right. read more

I love the fact that AJ's in West Lafayette delivers now; this makes it easy to get work done and now I won't miss lunch time. I give 3 stars because of delivery time. I don't expect my food to arrive at lightning speed but I also don't expect to wait a full hour before it arrives, especially when its outside of the rushed lunch hour. My food arrived an hour after ordering and it was cold. Of course, I wasn't too happy about that since (a) I was expecting at least a WARM meal and (b) if I wanted something cold I'd have ordered a salad. Perhaps the delivery person could keep the food in some sort of warmer in his/her vehicle (especially if you have a couple of stops) if it's going to be a while or maybe wait until you have someone around to deliver it before preparing the meal. Overall, I would order from AJ's again but if I get cold fries one more time, it'll be the last delivery order I put in. read more

We ordered our food online and it said approx 30-45 minutes, after an hour we called and they told us our food was ready and that they were just waiting for the delivery guy to come back, after another hour our food finally arrived, it was completely cold, the crispy chicken sandwich is just chicken tenders on a bun and when we bit into our hamburgers they were both extremely pink and completely raw in some parts, we will never be ordering food from here again read more

I called and placed an order for delivery. An hour and a half passed and the food never showed up. I called, and they said "Sorry, it must have gotten cancelled for some reason." They didn't bother to find out WHY or to offer me anything to compensate for their mess-up. I don't know how their food is, but I no longer think I have a desire to find out due to their lousy customer service. Update: They did send me a gift certificate as an apology. That was good. I called and ordered delivery again and told them I'd be paying with a gift certificate. Then, when they got to my door they told me they couldn't accept it. AJ's is a decent place to grab a bite on the weekend. I'm not a huge fan of their sandwiches/burgers. But they have good waffle fries and chicken tenders if you're a fan of those. Apparently they make their own sauces. The ranch is okay. The honey mustard tastes like Dijon mustard blended with honey, so it can be a bit strong. I tried the Mac and Cheese bites. Those are good. A little different. The decor here is plain. The staff is courteous. They're open very late, which is a plus. My only issue here are the prices. AJ's runs a bit expensive. I usually spend $10 - $12 here on a meal (sandwich, fries, and drink). I recommend using the Hooked app to get deals when you go to AJ's. read more

My experience here was awful ! We had a coupon to get a gyro for 3 dollars. The gyro was gross. It tasted like dog food. The cashier was very rude ! And the wait on the food was 20 minutes !!! We were the only people in there !! And on top of all this the place was so dirty !!! The air vent was covered in dirt!! The bathrooms were dirty and the wall outlets were so damaged. The paintings on the walls were crooked. All the employees do is sit around and drink pop and socialize. I will not be returning here read more
