This time I had a bunch of jobs that in total were really one complicated big job because I was trying to figure out what really needed to be done and stretch my budget. Joy is an arborist. It makes a difference. Somehow, he does the work for less than the other guys AND gives you a much better value because of the professional advice on what to do and how to do it, especially if you're planting new things AND WANT THEM TO LIVE! This time, she rushed me off the phone saying they'll get the estimate over. Today, July 10th, still no estimate. This is not a company I'd do business with.

They also took care when trimming over my neighbor's driveway and near my roof. I will be happy to call him again when I have landscaping needs. They did a great job.

They trimmed my Pineapple and Date palms in front and thinned and cut back a big ficus in back exactly how I asked. They gave me watering and maintenance tips also so communicating with them is easy. Set up a time for an estimate for some raking and weed whacking on an rv lot. Made sure to ask if I…read moreneeded to be there as we were in the process of moving out. He said I did not. The next day he text at a time I wasn't available and left shortly there after when he didn't get a response. When I did answer about an hour later, I reminded him I wasn't there and explained what I needed done since some of his text were looking for clarification. Once that happened he pushed for a next day meet up, I'm almost guessing he expected to do the yard work right then and there, which would explain his frustration with me. I told him I didn't need it done yet, and I would contact him back when we were ready to schedule. Once I did get back to him to schedule something, he proceeded to bitch me out about how badly I wasted his time when I didn't answer before. I had mentioned I wouldn't be there, so if he clarified he may need to call or text, I would have been by the phone. I explained this and apologized for my part, and proceeded to schedule something the next week. We said we'd touch base the week of maintenance to confirm with each other. When I contacted him the Thursday because I had not heard from him, he proceeded to be unsure of who I was or what we spoke of at all. When I remind him, he then says he can't on the Saturday I requested now, it would have to be Wednesday. My lease was up Monday, and the yard work had to be done that weekend. I had explained this all many times before to him. With one day left of the work week, he left me utterly screwed to find anyone else. Honestly, find it fairly obnoxious he made such a big deal of wasting someone's time for an unpaid estimate after all the shinangins he pulled just trying to get a yard the equivalent of a 3 car garage cleaned. Completely hypocritical. I tried to find someone last minute and came up empty so when he suggested he could do it first thing Friday morning I agreed. But again, I warned I would not be available by phone as I was moving my rv that day. Said it was fine and the job would be $100. Friday rolls around and while I'm in the middle of nowhere, towing a 16k pound fifth wheeler down south, I start getting texts 3 hours after he said he's originally be there asking, where I was. When I already explain I a) wouldn't be there and b) wouldn't be reachable. Thankfully I wasn't in a cell dead zone yet. Once AGAIN I reiterated what needed done because he was thinking he was just whacking a handful of weeds. Feeling very uncomfortable sending money ahead when he requested payment, we agreed half up front, half at the end. While he was rushing and spamming me for his first payment, he then proceeds to tell me he misunderstood how large my yard was and was upping the price. Mind you he'd come out for an estimate (which I understand he probably needed clarification if I had been able to answer) and I contacted a confirmed multiple times before what I needed done. I wanted to end things right then and there but of course Zelle can't refund anything. So I was stuck losing $50 or paying him more to actually do the job. I agreed, he did the job and then spammed for the rest of him money, barely giving me time to do anything. Remember I'm supposed to be towing? All of this was insanely stressful on an already stressful process. The work was completely decently, and that's the only reason he got 2 stars. But the whole process to get there shouldn't have been that hard. If you have special instructions or a schedule you need to adhere to I would not recommend this person.

My turf was installed at the end of February 2026, and what should have been an exciting backyard…read moreimprovement has turned into an ongoing headache. Within a short time, I began experiencing problems with the turf lifting at the seams and edges and nails repeatedly popping completely out of the ground. There have been numerous attempts to address these issues. Initially, the solution was repeatedly to add more nails, sometimes in areas that already had nails. Eventually, another crew came out, pulled sections of the turf back, reworked the material underneath, and re-nailed it. Unfortunately, the same problems continued. During all of the frustrating conversations and attempts to get the problems resolved, I also discovered that Chips Tree & Landscape subcontracted the actual installation to another company. I was not aware when I hired Chips that a separate company would be performing the installation. Because I became concerned about the quality and specifications of the turf that was installed, I requested the exact product specifications for the turf listed on my contract. The documentation I received was a brochure from the subcontractor, but I noticed something very concerning: the name of the turf listed on my contract does not appear to be a product offered by that subcontractor. I searched the subcontractor's website and could not find that turf product listed anywhere. I don't know whether the product was discontinued, an older product, or something that was being sold as leftover inventory, but I believe this is a reasonable question that should have a clear answer. I cannot state that the wrong turf was installed because I don't have the documentation to prove that. However, the turf appears to be a lower-quality product than what I believed I was purchasing, and the repeated problems have certainly made me question both the product and the installation. The recent rain has made the situation even worse. The material underneath the turf is now extremely wet, loose and movable, almost like wet beach sand, and the nails continue to work their way out. I have documented nails approximately 3 inches long that have come completely out of the ground. More recently, a crew member showed me a nail that appeared to be approximately 4 1/2 inches long. That longer nail was not actually installed; it was left behind with only the tip positioned in the turf after the worker became frustrated and left to make a phone call. I have photographs documenting these issues. What is especially frustrating is that this turf is only a few months old and has already required multiple visits and repeated attempts to correct the same problems, yet the turf continues to lift and the nails continue to come out. I regret removing my natural grass and having artificial turf for this project. If you are considering Chips Tree & Landscape, I strongly recommend doing your own due diligence, getting the exact turf manufacturer/product specifications and installation requirements in writing, asking whether the work will be subcontracted, and keeping documentation of everything. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company for artificial turf installation.

I hired Harris & Sons in February to remove a sussoo tree from my backyard. Before the work began,…read moreI explained that my landscaping company wanted the entire tree, including the stump, removed. Harris & Sons told me the stump did not need to be removed and assured me that poisoning it would kill both the stump and the roots. Trusting their professional expertise, I followed their recommendation. When my landscaping project began, my landscapers immediately told me they could not properly install artificial turf over the stump because as it rotted, the ground would settle and create uneven spots in the new lawn. They also discovered the stump was still alive and that roots had already begun spreading into another area of my yard. I called Harris & Sons, and they returned on June 27 to retreat the stump and roots. They told me to wait one week before continuing with landscaping. When my landscapers resumed work on July 3rd they determined the stump still had to be removed before they could complete the project correctly. I had no choice but to pay an additional $675 to have the stump removed so the project could move forward. When I contacted Harris & Sons about reimbursing me for the additional expense, they refused. Instead of acknowledging my concerns or trying to find a reasonable solution, they sent me a Google article claiming stump removal is not always necessary. That completely missed the point. From the very beginning, I told them my landscaping company wanted the stump removed. They advised me otherwise, and I trusted their professional recommendation. In the end, the stump still had to be removed, and I was left paying two companies for the same job. As a widow and single mom, I rely on professionals to give honest, informed advice. I trusted their recommendation, and it ended up costing me more money. What disappointed me most was not just the extra expense but the complete lack of accountability. Rather than listening to a legitimate customer concern and trying to make things right, they dismissed my experience and refused to take any responsibility. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Harris & Sons. If a customer clearly tells them what is needed, I would expect them to either perform the requested work or clearly explain why they will not, rather than assuring the customer it is unnecessary only to have them pay someone else to do it later.
