Knowledgeable, honest, reasonably priced, communicative - pretty much everything you could ask for!

So maybe 4 years ago Heartwood took down a Sisso tree from my front yard. I have never seen a sprout or issue since! So already I was a fan. Then, this week a neighbors Sisso started creeping into my yard. Called to have them come out and kill off the root that was in my yard. When speaking to Brittni on the phone she was so thorough in getting all the info and was knowledgeable about what the process would be. She made sure it worked with my schedule, and left copious notes for the person who would come out. Then I spoke with Howard about the sprouts, and he guided me through the process of solving the issue on my own without them. He knew this was an easily solved problem and essentially gave up a job because it was the honest thing to do. Incredible! Honest, knowledgeable, hardworking. One of the best companies I have ever brought in to work on my home. read more

Months ago I left a negative review of this business. The basic issue is that their crew said they'd return to finish the job and they never did. Now the business owner is rebutting my claim and saying I just want free services. Basically calling a customer a liar. Lesson learned is GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Fortunately the valley has many good arborists. read more

I have three trees that need trimming and wanted to remove a bougainvillea bush. They came out and we talked about what they would do. It's in a very detailed proposal. They came out on time did a fantastic job of removing all the extra growth from the trees. They did a great job cleaning up the front yard right down to getting rid of all the leaves that were already there. Excellent service and a decent price! read more

Jesus and his crew did an outstanding job on our ailing mesquite! It was nice that Randy, a certified arborist, had evaluated the tree beforehand and determined what needed to be done. The work was executed impeccably, with great care and efficient cleanup. We had less expensive bids, but we are glad we decided on Heartwood. read more

We had tree removal performed. Timely and thorough. Answered so many questions I had! Would use again.

The folks at Heartwood Tree Care always do an excellent job! I've utilized their services to prune a giant willow and a fig tree - I've been super impressed each time. The quote + scheduling process is quick, the crews are very knowledgeable, and the work is done with great care. The pricing is reasonable to boot. I'd definitely recommend Heartwood! read more

Their estimator was knowledgeable, friendly, punctual, and helpful. Clearly communicated what was happening with one of my trees. Their tech that came out to treat the trees was the same, even gave some tips on other plants I have. Nice people, I recommend them. read more

I have only great things to say about this company! From the interaction with Randy for the estimate for my tree trimming project, questions for Brittany in the office and Will with the tree trimming crew, and the guys on the crew, everyone was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They did an amazing job cleaning my yard after the work. I think it is actually cleaner now than when they started. I also received advice of care for one of my mesquite trees that have been struggling for years. I highly recommend this company and I will definitely use them again. Heartwood is truly a group of trained arborists who create natural beauty. I am so pleased with their work. They were able to shape my 25 foot tall cypress trees 6 of them, and my large ironwood which was shaggy and overgrown. All are now works of art. I highly recommend them, well worth it. read more

Howard came out and assessed all of my trees! He provided expert advice and taught me about how to properly care for my trees. Really appreciated his expert advice! I have called other arborists, but will only be calling Heartwood from now on, their service was superior. read more

Jesuse and his crew came out and took down a dying Mulberry tree. They came on time, were very professional and were respectful of my property. After they ground down the stump I could not tell where the tree was and the overall cleanup of my yard was excellent. I give these men 5 stars and recommend this company. Ellen G. read more

What a huge waste of time. Howard visited my home to discuss a disease or fungus that had and was killing several trees on my property. Our initial meeting was great and he seemed confident we'd find a solution. He asked me to send soil samples to a lab, send him the results and then we'd get together again to review and make a plan. I did as he said. Since then, nearly a year ago, I've sent a series of follow up emails, calls and even texts. I've gotten replies from his office apologizing for not responding and that Howard would follow up soon. Howard even texted me back that he was sorry he dropped the ball and would call me that afternoon. Nothing. ever. Since then another tree has died and I'm afraid the one next to it will fail soon. Surprised he has so many good reviews. I'm guessing times have changed. I'd find someone else. read more

I was very impressed with Randy, who came out to provide estimates for a tree trimming project and a tree care project. He was very professional and helpful. He shared a lot of great advice and information, and provided a detailed, itemized estimate. Although I did not move forward with the services, I am definitely keeping Heartwood Tree Care in mind for the future. read more

Had an appointment to get a quote on 1/29/25 between 2-3. No one ever showed up nor did I even a phone call. If I could give this company "ZERO" stars I would. If you like dealing with flaky unprofessional companies this then good luck. Glad I found this out before hiring these flakes! read more

I had Heartwood come to my house and take down a dead cottonwood. These guys were fast and professional. (A different company came to remove another tree and damaged my fence last time so I was a little gun shy.) Heartwood did a great job the did NOT damage anything and cleaned up. It is so nice to get a professional job! Now I just need to plant more trees! read more

Let me start by saying HW Tree has helped me remove 2 large trees from my property in the past and I have been satisfied with this company for a long time, which is why I contacted them first to remove a very aggressive volunteer mulberry tree from my vegetable, herb and flower gardens I cultivate to feed myself. Dakoda, who has quoted me in the past came over on the scheduled date to look at the job. 3 days went by and I had no estimate. I followed up with Brittany about a quote, she said she would follow up with Dakoda. 3 more days and nothing. This tree volunteered in my gardens with some mulch and I encouraged it to grow, but I had no idea it was a non-fruit bearing and was going to get so large with a very very aggressive root system. I can only assume that the ghosting means they do not want to remove the tree. I am sad to say goodbye to HWTC, I used to think they cared about the customer more than the tree, but apparently my needs are second to what they think is moral to a tree. Its my land, its my tree and I can and will do what I want, including the removal of any tree that interferes with my ability to feed myself. I am a master gardener and I know what I need. read more

We have (had) a Sweet Acacia tree that has been slowly dying. It's been leaning little by little, more and more. We were afraid of it falling and maybe hurting someone if they were walking by. I researched several companies, got three quotes and decided to go with Heartwood due to price, timing, prior reviews and the young man who originally came to give the quote. Very informative and personable. They showed up this morning On Time! Wow, that was nice. They were very mindful of the surrounding bushes and cactus and didn't hit the water line. They took the tree piece by piece, ground down the large stump, blew out debris, swept the walkway and left things as clean as possible. My mom even offered an extra tip and he wouldn't accept it. We did give them a tray of brownies and that was alright. Lol Very professional company. I highly recommend them. They also do other tree services as their website probably explains more in detail. Five stars well deserved!!! read more

From start to finish, Howard and his crew did a professional and thorough job. He explained everything that he was going to do and followed through exactly. We were sent reminders of our appointment and they showed up early to do the job, which was great. They answered all our questions and were very knowledgeable. We ended up having to have 3 beautiful Mexican fan palms taken out because of the placement in our backyard. Thirty years ago when they were planted, it was a good idea. But now, they were causing damage to the pool structure and to the wall between us and our neighbor. I was sad to see them go and hear of the birds that got displaced, but it had to be done. Howard and crew were careful to do minimal damage to existing landscaping and cleaned up best they could. The only bad thing was the state of the pool when they left. The debris, sawdust and stones that got knocked in turned the pool a very dark green and made it difficult to clean. But alas, we did it! We opted to leave the tree stumps and plan on putting some beautiful new bushes in that area. If you are looking for a certified arborist who will talk to you about your bid, Howard is your man. He is honest, reliable and did a great job. read more

Had an awesome experience with Dakota, the arborist that came out and reviewed my property with me. He was extremely well informed and very friendly. During a bad storm with extreme wind, our pine tree fell onto our roof. I contacted a few different tree companies to get quotes. Heartwood Tree Care was actually the first company I contacted. They were very quick to respond even though it was late at night, I wasn't expecting a response until the morning. They were very fair in their pricing. Even though cranes were already heavily booked due to the storm, the owner did what he could to get one booked to get the tree off our roof as soon as possible. The owner truly cares about his dedication to customers and helped make a very stressful situation easier to deal with. I will continue to use this company for my future tree needs. read more

I called regarding a tree in my backyard, assuming it was something had to be taken out. I've spoken to two other companies, and when hardwood came out, very knowledgeable courteous young man shared his thoughts. Heartwood provided an exceptional assessment of our Aleppo Pines and Bottle Trees, as well as additional trees in our backyard. Their professionalism, knowledge, and integrity set them apart. If we ever require arborist services in the future, Heartwood will be our first and only call. I called Heartwood to do a health assessment on a tree in my backyard that looked like it was dying after I replaced grass with artificial turf. Dakota, a certified arborist from Heartwood, dropped by to assess the tree. He let me know the tree (a Sissoo tree) was not dying, and in fact had new leaves ready to bloom for the upcoming season. He also walked me through some things to watch out for if I did decide to replace the tree, as well as answer any questions I had. Dakota was friendly, easy to talk with, and super knowledgeable about tree care and health. I would highly recommend Heartwood Tree Care, and I look forward to reaching out to them in the future for any tree care needs! read more

Had this company come out for a quote second week of November. I was ready to drop a substantial amount to improve existing trees and wanted to add 8-10 more palms and trees. Howard, the owner seemed very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time walking my yard and told me about every tree in it, suggested trees to plant etc. I was ready to hire this company just based on his knowledge. I was told they were behind and it would be about a week before I got the quote. I patiently wait a week..then 2 weeks pass, so I contact them saying still waiting on quote. It is now week 3 and no one has contacted me. Guess they don't need my business. Wasted my time and theirs. Very disappointing. UPDATE 12/17/24: Was contacted within minutes of the above negative review, Britney apologized and said she would get the quote I requested weeks ago to me the same day. I agreed to give them yet another chance. ANOTHER WEEK has gone by and still nothing. Don't bother with these people. They are all talk and no follow through. I'd give 0 stars if I could. read more

Despite a mix up on the day scheduled, Brittani called me and got things back on track a few days after. The crew arrived and walked my job with me and I indicated that I wanted them to really take care of my cactus and succulents under two large trees they were trimming. Well every tree trimmer in my life has been all "no problem" but once in the tree care little about where stuff drops. To be honest I know how hard it is but I go out of my way to stress that point. Heartwood took their time and my plants took virtually zero damage from the work. For this reason alone they will get my next call. Otherwise the crew was awesome, great communicators, checked in before leaving one of my massive trees and did great at clean up. Their cuts most importantly were well decided and very clean. They left great structure in the trees and they look natural. True professionals. Lastly I really enjoyed the arborist who initially came out for the estimate. He had great suggestions and was a pleasure to talk to and shared his knowledge freely. Great company! read more

Heartwood Tree Care - After the trim - Tree Services Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

Will and crew did a great job trimming my mesquite tree highly recommend this company will refer to all of my friends and family!!

Last year I had Heartwood remove a large live oak tree from the front of my yard which was producing and dropping an excessive amount of acorns all over my front lawn and backyard. After the tree was removed I was experiencing a few shooters from the remaining tree's roots which I was expecting. I would just pull them and hoped that would be it. Well it continued and about a year later I was still getting shooters which I was not expecting. I contacted Heartwood and Dakota came out to see what I was dealing with. He recommended a chemical spray that I was able to purchase at Tractor Supply Co. I treated the shooters for about six months and they continued to pop up in other areas and were very relentless. This was now about a year and a half since the tree was removed. At this point I tried to dig around the tree stump and cut a few roots with a sawzall. Much to my surprise, the roots were more than a simple sawzall could handle and a large portion of the stump was still visible. I contacted Howard (Heartwood Company Owner) to seek his advice. Howard had been very helpful in the past with a Sissoo tree that was encroaching my property from a common area. Howard came out to my home and after digging around a bit said that the stump should've been ground down deeper than it was. He immediately sent out Kelly, who is an awesome guy btw, to grind the stump down further. Kelly did just that and I'm now convinced that my shooter problems will be resolved. Heartwood stands by their work and will not be happy until they have a happy customer in return. My thanks to Howard, Kelly and Dakota for doing just that. read more

We had a quote where an arborist drew up a plan for what we needed. The arborist was not on site during our service. Management apologized and discounted the service after I called about what happened. read more

Amazing team and did quick work on my 6 trees. This is the second time using Heartwood and I am amazed the second time. Thank you so much!

Not only did this company not do a thorough job, but they admittedly damaged our property. Before we had the work begin, we stressed that we wouldn't do it if it would damage the light install we had recently done in March by another company. Howard assured is that they were able to take care of our tree without damage. Well, they wrecked our light install. Howard admitted that his negligence caused the damage but tried to insinuate that maybe the light company had fault. They stalled coming over four or five times after we basically had to babysit the requests. When he could not repair the damage I told him he needed to contact the company we used for the lights. He paid them a fraction of what we paid for their install. The light company employee told us the lights were still broken and even had their employee point out which ones were damaged . Howard then responded to our review online claiming it was a wire and not a broken light issues. That it was a small issue. He lied and said that the light company fixed the damage and signed off on it and said it was working properly. A blatant lie. He claimed we didn't pay the bill. Ludicrous. They understood we wouldn't be submitting payment until they rectified the issue and addressed the damage. We now have an invoice and we NEVER once claimed it wouldn't be paid. Howard chose to slander us in response to the Google review we left. He took on a job he wasn't qualified to do and then was miserable and unpleasant to deal with. We were treated rudely and unfairly. We even asked OUTRIGHT for a discount on the work due to the damage, inconvenience, months without lights etc. It's really disappointing to put your trust in a business and then be taken advantage of this way. We are certain Howard will respond with more untruths but at this point- we expect nothing less. read more
