First of all, Thank You Air Nerds for fixing my furnace ignitor. The tech, Brian was friendly and resolved my issue. However, I truly believe that the charge for the fix was a bit overpriced to replace a $20 part (Found it online). I was charged a total of $450 to replace the ignitor. They first charged me $125 to diagnose the problem (I did tell them prior that I thought it was the ignitor). Brian then said that he would be back later with the ignitor. This is where I made my mistake, I should have asked him the cost to replace it (Or better yet, it would have been nice for Air Nerds to tell me!). This way if I thought it was too high, I could either replace it myself (I replaced it once before but forgot where it was located) or call around for estimates. I do have a heat pump and this was keeping the house warm enough, this was for the gas backup heat. So, Air Nerds did the job but I think $450 was a bit steep for a simple fix. I did search online and it said that this type of fix usually cost between $150 to $350 professionally, including parts ($20-$100) and labor ($75-$150). Anyway, I hope this review helps you decide whether Air Nerds is the way to go! One more note, they did arrive a half hour late! They first asked me if 8am or 9am would work, I told them 8am. I had a tech from another company come out and the next day my A/C was dead. I contacted Air Nerds and they had a tech out that day. He spent several hours checking the whole system, cleaning it inside and outside, and giving me some suggestions for making the system run more efficiently. All this for the cost of the service fee, and it turns out the breakers had been turned off by the previous tech. They will be my go-to from now one. I couldn't be more pleased. What an excellent experience with Air Nerds. We woke up on the morning of Friday, December 22 and noticed the heat wasn't working. I reached out to several vendors in the area and most were not willing or able to help for almost a week. Air Nerds responded to my request on Yelp within 20 minutes and were at my home in less than 2 hours from my initial message. They kept me up-to-date on their arrival status, kept me informed on the process throughout and fixed the problem on the same day, which was the result of a faulty hi-low sensor. We had another company come in and gave us an estimate just to repair our downstairs ac. This was right before the July 4th holiday and at the start of an intense heatwave. We had actually hired them to do the work but then the technician refused to go into our crawl space because a couple stray cats had been down there at one point. The damage those cats did to our duct work had recently been replaced and we had had no issue which those technicians. Instead of sending someone else they just blew us off. So I called Air Nerds. They came right out and gave use estimates, which included an estimate to replace both our ACs which were both giving us trouble. We decided to go ahead and do that. They came out and did the work over two days, were very efficient and did a great job. Our house feels awesome now when we come inside from the heat. Air Nerds are my hero's. They replaced a ductless air conditioner that had been problematic since originally installed. They even added parts on and existing unit that had been omitted (refrigerant solenoid & surge protectors) for no additional costs. They are a rare company that explains what they are going to do with reasonable costs, and often do more than what they say, show up on time and respond quickly if I have a problem. Amazing. Daniel was very efficient and patient with me as I asked many questions during the install. I'm a retired engineer with nothing to do. His team mate was great too. They worked very well together and anticipated what needed to be done. They even drove to town to get a part for the other unit they noticed was never installed. I cannot recommend Air Nerds enough. I have used a number of HVAC services in the past but Air Nerds outdid the rest. Daniel and his coworker did a great job looking under the crawlspace, cleaning the coils, finding and replacing a burned wire, and cleaning out the furnace. They recommended that I get the ductwork cleaned out as well. Personable, professional, affordable, and responsive! Picture: This is a burnt wire that was sitting by the heat exchanger. On Tuesday an appointment was set for that Friday.
