Female server was mean as can be... when my wife asked for cilantro she said I guess I could add that as if to charge for a slice which is included in every other Poke place we've explored. My husband asked to change his order without realizing it was in the prices of being prepared and she snapped that she works fast and it's too late to change and treated us like we were little children. This was my first time at ahi poke and I got say the prices were good compare to other places and the food was delicious. The lady who helped me was friendly and really helpful while I was choosing what to get. I ended up building my own small bowl which was a fair amount of food for the price. I expected more from this fast casual restaurant. I've been to a few poki places quite a few times and living in Santee, I'd still drive to north park or Claremont mesa to get poki. The customer service was great but the food was okay, the bowls are big but you get mostly a base like brown rice; the amount of fish isn't as much as otger places offer and they also charge extra for different fish while the other places allow you to choose any of their fish and their sides/toppings at no extra cost. I think this place could be a lot better and the fish could be a little more fresh. I might try it again at some point but not anytime soon. read more

I love this place! Being out in East county there are not always the best places to go and grab good healthy food. I am here at least every other week and the owner is hilarious, she is always cracking jokes. I think they know me by face since I frequent the establishment often. I come here for the poke bowls and they are made awesome, just wish the servings for a medium bowl were a tad bit bigger. The 2 fresh shrimp springs rolls are very tasty and reasonably priced, I am picky about my peanut sauce and they make it good here. Wanted to be impressed.... however, I came here after a workout on a warm day in February. This place had no AC on when it was 87 outside, and very warm inside.... if you don't want to run your AC, you probably shouldn't open a place in east county. As for the food, I got two "small" ahi poke bowls. It was good but I don't know how you can butcher raw fish and white rice.... In my personal opinion, I don't like that the cucumbers are in large chunks. You have to really like cucumbers to prefer them the way they prepare them here. They're about the size of the pieces of fish so if you eat fish with a bite of cucumber, all you taste is cucumber. There's a logic behind why most places serve it in small slices or shredded. You have the choices between small bowls, med, & lg. A small bowl is two scoops of fish, med is 3, lg is 4. They use a small ice cream scooper. read more

Finally got to try a bowl of their delicious food. I have been waiting patiently for several weeks until the store open just got done eating a medium-size bowl and Thai tea and I am stuffed. Food quality is great, and they even have a very interesting Asian style potato salad that I really recommend you get a try. So happy to have a poke a place in the East County. A couple of months ago I saw that this shop was opening and made a note to try it. I'm really glad that I remembered it when I was was craving something light and fresh for lunch last Saturday. My best friend and I stopped in and had fun creating our bowls and then eating the deliciousness. You can select 2, 3 or 5 scoop bowls with your choice of fish. Add white or brown rice or salad as your base and then start adding all the goodies. Select edamame, scallions, masago, cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro, and crispy onion and crispy garlic (trust me!) as some of your add-ins. Pick your favorite sauce or allow the expert poke-maker to pick one for you. They'll mix up all that poke goodness so you can sit right down and enjoy it to the last bite, if you can eat all of it! Food isn't bad, been there several times but the woman (wife) is RUDE, moody and unfriendly. Had to wait a LONG time for service. She did not respond to us. They don't have napkins or trash available. Water is never filled. Her personality changes. One day she was unusually and painfully, perky and friendly. It was out of character. I noticed her attitude the first day I entered the place a year ago. She rushes you, has no patience, and no customer service etiquette. If it wasn't for her presence, this place would be descent. Went in twice within a week. The womans attitude was horrible both times. It's unbelievable! Ahi Poke could be tolerable. Not the best value! My husband and I love poki and we usually drive to Poki One N Half on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. We were anxious to try Ahi Poke since it is much closer to where we live. We told the seemingly rude lady behind the counter that we were first time customers but that didn't seem to matter. Even though we were the only ones in line she tried to hurry us along and didn't want to give us much time or attention. Besides feeling that our business was not really appreciated, the portions here were much smaller and the selection of menu items was limited. We were told that our selection of sauces was limited to 3 even though it did not state that on the menu. I doubt that we will be back. We will continue to make the longer drive to Poki One N Half on Clairemont Blvd. where the prices are the same, the portions and number of items to choose from are larger, they don't limit you on sauces or getting extra toppings, the value is better, the store is nicer and better light and the staff is friendlier and appreciates their customers. read more

Not only is the Poke fresh & Delicious but the restaurant is clean & Comfortable and the owners ( husband & wife ) remember us when we walk in and welcome us knowing what we always order. I work in the area and head here at least once a week on my lunch break. It definitely is a smaller, unassuming establishment with limited seating and not too much flare, but it's clean and the food is good. I have no complaints. I always get a large Poke Bowl with brown rice, salmon and other toppings like seaweed, crab, edamame, etc. I have yet to be disappointed with the food or service. They have a decent amount of choices for toppings, proteins and sauces. Their house and Ponzu sauces are yummy. I think the prices are reasonable and a little less expensive (maybe $1-$2 less per bowl) than the slightly more upscale Poke places in Kearny Mesa and Pacific Beach. I've never had any issue with service. While not overly friendly, the workers have always been nice, polite and efficient. read more

So the poke was ok. The fish portion are a too off not even a full scoop. The fish was good. They also charge you $1.50 more for the yellow tail. The staff is nice. I won't be going back there and won't recommend it. I would much rather drive further to Poke one n a half for a true portion of fish.
