My roommate and I visited Agave tonight for taco Tuesday. When we arrive we let the hostess know we'd be okay sitting at the bar if any seats opened up. A couple that walked in minutes after us later took the seats at the bar even though we had already mentioned something about wanting to sit there. It took around 30 minutes to finally be sat even though the hosted said it would only be about 15 minutes. We were served our food before our tortillas and salsa came out. It took extremely long to get our tortillas and salsa. I ordered the 3 special $2.50 tacos for the night and they were very subpar. I'm not saying they were horrible but I would've preferred Rocky Mountain Taco over it by far, but honestly I'd even rather have a Taco Bell taco than what I ate at Agave. The flavors were lacking. We were also let know that orders cannot be split on taco Tuesday (even for a table of 2) so we paid together in cash. Overall I'm constantly disappointed in the food and drink offerings at Agave and prefer every other Mexican place in the valley over it. I love the space as an event venue, but lunch or dinner isn't worth it. read more

They had a taco special on the Saturday we werw there. Al pastor tacos were $1 and fish and steak were $2. Seemed like a great deal so we had to check it out. They have a nice outdoor seating area and several prople had their dogs with them. We were seated quickly but waited a little for menus. There was one male server who was nice but a little too laid back. We ordered a few of each kind of the tacos. The fish was really good with a good amount of fish and a creamy sauce. Yum! The steak and al pastor were also good. We had the roastes squash salad which was big pieces of romanine with squash, red peppers, pumkin seeds and cheese. It was tasty but needed to be cut up to eat it. Overall, the food was good with large portions for the price. Great value for the tacos. Service could have been a little better. read more

I'm always up for good Mexican food and Agave delivered. The homemade warm tortillas served with fresh salsa was a wonderful surprise. I ordered the combo with a chili relleno and the relleno was one of the best I've ever tasted. It was battered and lightly fried (not the heavy fried flavor like Hacienda Colorado) with a tasty green chili sauce. We also had the chicken mole and it was a nice lighter side option. It was pleasant to sit outside and even though the road was right there, the flora was so dense it provided a nice shelter and a peaceful dining experience. read more

Eating at Agave was our first off the Ritz Carlton resort, and we couldn't have been more please with this choice, the atmosphere was amazing, and our server (didn't get his name), I'm pretty sure was the owner of the restaurant. My bestie had the Mahi fish tacos and she said they were amazing, I had the shrimp tacos and they were good not great, however I would have loved it if they had offered blackened seasoning. We have come here each time we have spent time in Beaver Creek. While I let the last time slide, I just can't this time. The curly haired guy (owner or manager) is a complete a--. While waiting for a table a group of the same amount came in and sat them right away. His excuse " you will all eat at the same time and finish at the same time" - uh, what? Service overall stinks- never cleared one plate from the table or glass. Asked 4 times for a box.....make that 5 now. Had to flag down the waited for drink reorders, salsa reorders- did I mention we need a box. Tacos were absolutely bland for being "Taco Tuesday" and not even what we ordered. I should have pay attention to the reviews. The food was just OK. The service was OK. The nachos was good but not great. The tacos did not taste good, almost like the sauce was missing. Chicken was very dry in my chicken mole. The sauce was not spicy at all. We couldn't taste much alcohol in the house margarita. The server was really busy. When he was clearing the table, he spilled a glass of water all over my kid. I felt sorry for the server. They really need more people to help there. When we got home we had a massive headache and were very thirsty as if the food had msg in it. We can't recommend this place to anyone and don't think we will ever go again. read more

I had a group of 15 when we arrived to Beaver Creek Fri night and they took care of all of us with fantastic food - the octupus and coconut shrimp are always my favorite. Agave is my favorite Mexican Restaurant for LUNCH. I went for dinner last week and the cost was three times as much as I pay for the same thing for lunch AND they charge for chips and salsa. Any self respecting Mexican restaurant should provide complimentary chips and salsa. Granted they provided homemade tortillas with salsa, but I could have preferred chips and salsa with my margarita. Frankly, everything we had was poor quality: - Chips were too salty, salsa was watery - Chili relleno were slimy and the cheese was basic - Rice & Beans were flavorless and microwaveable ones would have better - Queso dip was worse than Velveta (To be clear, Velveta is gross) - Shrimp and Mahi tacos were nothing to write home about as I only had one bite of each. Food and place mediocre at best. My girls and I went to Taco Tuesday and wanted some tacos and margaritas. Taco was okay but it was cheap so it did its job BUT my problem is with the margaritas we all had some big sips and we noticed it didn't taste like alcohol, so we flagged down our server(who was great) and we told him, he told us that they are normally pretty strong and can sneak up on you so just go slow. With that we kept drinking thinking maybe if you drink some more then MAYBE we will feel it. However, we finished our drinks and we literally realize that there was no alcohol in them. We felt fine. We even waited a couple minutes. NOTHING. we decided to bring it up to our server and he went to go get his manager, his manager showed lack of professionalism and tried to reassure us here was alcohol because he himself had made it. (I also understand that there's a problem with people trying to get free drinks out of places, but we were still pretty coherent and we're weren't asking for any more drinks just to let them know and if we could pay for the virgin margaritas not a full 15) he keeps trying to say that he made them and he knows what's in there multiple times and not really listening to us and I tried to even say that I was a bartender myself. I know why he was super defensive but he just kept pushing and pushing that it was just us and being rude, but it was not. We haven't drank in a while, especially me! When looking at the reviews it's easy to see which ones are real regarding this awful establishment. Nobody comes here and gets good service. The queso is powdered cheese and the chicken is awful. Friday night, the group didn't want to wait and sit for a restaurant experience. We wanted to grab food and take it back to the VRBO. We tried calling the order in, but nobody answered the phone.. weird. We decided to show up. Cool vibe inside, we let the hostess know we were ordering and they forwarded us to the bar. Kind of strange, the place was pretty quiet for a Friday, maybe 4 or 5 groups in the restaurant. We ordered and grabbed a beer while we waited. Food came out promptly and headed back. Great outside patio! Prompt service and knowledgeable staff. Food tasted great! They give you standard salsa with soft flour tortillas, I would ask for salsa with their corn tortilla chips. I am from southern Cali and this is on par with the quality I have been spoiled with. read more

We came there tonight with a 30th birthday and a bachelorette party of 8. When we arrive the bouncer said they just had a limited Bar menu which was fine. Upon sitting down the wait staff yelled at us for asking for any food as it was no longer being offered. When we asked why because I had communicated with the bar before bringing such a large group they said 'we never stop served this early/ it's just a tonight thing cause we want to start the music.' Coming from AZ to visit and missed our local haunts for good Mexican. Found it!! All four of us had different items and loved it. Beef enchiladas, crunchy tacos, and burritos.
