Agave's for the win!! This was the second year in a row we used Agave to host a team dinner and they were AMAZING and extremely accommodating both times! The food was delicious and the service was on point. They offered us the whole upstairs that easily held 40+ people and even came with our very own BARTENDER!!! When it came time to pay the bill, which can be dreadful with large parties like this, it was smooth and flawless. Truly the most relaxing and delicious team dinner I've ever put together! I ate dinner last night at Agave. I had to wait a minute to get greeted but it looked like the host was running food. I had the carne asada taco appetizer. Never had cactus paddle before but it went well with the app. I had the callos asado (grilled scallops)for dinner. Let me tell you before this I would have never bought scallops at a Mexican restaurant but the waitress said it was the best on the menu so I gave it a shot. Best scallop dish I've had in a while!!! I love the fresh tortillas hand made right up front! I've been here several times and always enjoyed the food. It is fresh-made authentic Mexican style. No Tex-Mex here. The menu includes some unique items not usually found in Mexican restaurants. Kid-friendly at dinner time. The Mahi Mahi tacos are great. They have a vegetarian menu too. Taco specials on Tuesday. I don't even know how the food is at this place. I was calling to put a reservation in and went unanswered on 30 phone calls. You think for a taco plate costing +$11, they would have enough to pay an employee to answer the phone, oh wait they did.. And they just hung up on me several times. I've gone to agave three times. Two of those times, I had a meal and watched a concert. The food was pretty bland, unexciting, and seemed to be typical mushy, mexican food, without flavors or additions to make the meal worth the price. The concerts here, I've experience, the artists are great, but they have to work in a less than ideal environment, if they don't bring their own sound people, it seems like agave just can't get it right. read more

When the band began setting up they left the door open while removing tables to clear space. I'm not sure what Agave is like on a regular night, but my review is of their taco Tuesday. Vail, Co and affordable prices are usually not found in the same sentence, but Agave's $1.50 tacos were well worth the price. We got 2 margaritas and 8 tacos for around $30. Great taco Tuesday deals! Usually have live music after $1.50 tacos! I understand there is some pretty big-named bands that play here in the winter! I will say, came here with one of my friends who is allergic to lycopene, which is in the salsa. It was $1.50 taco night and they said, for them to take the salsa off of the tacos rather than not originally put it on, they would have to charge us the regular price of $2.75 for the taco. Seriously? You're going to charge me more, to not put an ingredient on, in the first place? Usually, it cost more to add an ingredient, not to take one off. What a bunch of assholes! Even the manager or owner, Patrick, or Patricio, acted like it was a big deal. There is a spiky, blond haired bartender here named steve, that use to bartend at 8150, back in the day, when i use to visit that bar. Biggest asshole ever, and I hear he's got a pretty large ego still, at Agave! I can't speak from experience on this trip ( as I recognized him, and steered clear), but if he is still here very much, avoid him at all costs! Otherwise, I look forward to seeing some hopefully decent music this coming winter!! Eat the tacos but avoid anything that includes "seafood" here!! read more

I would not recommend this resturant. The guy working as the host is very unprofessional, rude and extremely racist. Food was ok too. Their queso was a chunk of cheese in a bowl (we still had to pay for it). My son had cheese quesadilla and got sick having half of it. I would not recommend this resturant to anyone. read more

Well I'm a pretty easy going person and don't get to upset about many things but as I walked in the restaurant I had to wait for about 5 minutes to get someone to speak to me. So I asked for a to go order and the gal asked if I had a reservation... Hmm that's new to me a reservation for a to go anyways she got a manager and I asked him for a to go order he told me, ya we do to go orders but you need to do it at the bar! He didn't seem to thrilled and acted as if I were a huge hassle to him. So I watched the bartender tell other people who were trying to order some food, "you may eat eventually but I'm bartending first." He did as he said and continued bartending and finished washing his glasses and looked at the people who wanted food after about ten minutes and said what do you want to eat it's gonna take a while? After that I waited about 10 minutes till he asked what I wanted I said a to go order and he said nope we don't do those. I told him I was just told by your manager that you will take a to go order. He said "they are wrong, have a good night...." Well not sure of many businesses who don't like money but these people don't seem to like money or people when they are busy.... Pretty poor customer service in my opinion... Hopefully if you go to this place you will have a better situation and better evening... read more

This place always disappoints. I don't know why we continue to try Agave thinking they've had to improve since the last time, but it always reminds us why we shouldn't return. Doubling as a music venue is obnoxious. In the middle of the winter they'll freeze you out at dinner while they bring the band in and leave the door open. Service is consistently awful. Takes a while to get someone to greet you at the door and then it's never a warm greeting. Their uniforms are so filthy you might lose your appetite. They'll up charge you for extra tortillas for your fajitas even after they already up charged you for getting chicken & steak fajitas. Apparently adding extra meat at an up charge will not get you more than 3 tortillas. And finally the food quality: ceviche is mushy, steak is grizzly and chewy, chicken is bland, fajita veggies include onions and 2 pepper slices. Don't ruin your night by going to Agave. read more

I went to a show here last night and while the actual band was good, they didn't start until two hours after they were supposed to, and all seemed to be pretty trashed by the time they got up there. The bar tender who was working downstairs on the right side of the bar was extremely rude- he ignored me for a full 15 minutes while consistently serving his buddies who were off to the side along with some girls dressed in about as little as they possibly could be. Thank God I only spent $5 to get in and only bought a couple of (over priced, poorly made) drinks! read more

definitely a great place to go if you aren't interested in the high priced resort food. the tortillas are handmade by a mom & daughter & oh oh ooooooooooooooohhhhh so good. the margaritas aren't too bad either. the spot has cozy booths downstairs. the food is definitely a good portion so no need to over-order here. the salsa is pretty good too. in the end, i would have to say i had a pretty good time. that's a whole lot of pretty goods from me, so it must be my overall opinion of the place. i would definitely revisit the place if i'm in boulder again. read more

I'm visiting my son that moved to CO last November, he said one of his favorites is Agave so our family went on Tuesday for their Tuesday Taco & Tunes special. We arrived at 8:50 pm, the hostess told us we would have a 20 minute wait for a table. Sat at the bar and ordered a house Merlot, waters and a Margarita. Merlot just ok, good hand poured Margarita. Our table was ready in 10 min, and our server promptly gave us menus. We ordered 2 salads and the taquitos. Salads crisp, our waitress gave us both types of dressing on the side( I'm very picky about the quantity of dressing I use), and the taquitos were average. From there we ordered 10 chicken & 5 beef tacos. I wasn't expecting them to be fried, they were good nonetheless. Had to have some guacamole & black beans on the side, beans were cold & bland. Overall, I'd go back again cuz you just can't beat tacos for $1.50 each! The rest of the menu had a nice selection, may be worth another night to taste what they specialize in. On a tip from a ski instructor, we decided to check out "Taco Tuesday." As promised, tacos were on special for cheap, as were all "well drinks" at the bar. So we thought. The rude bartender wouldn't offer any tequila and suggested we not try the vodka OR gin! She wouldn't tell us about the beer special and then walked away. Later on, to keep a tab open, it was requested we leave a tip, beforehand. It was unpleasant, while waiting for a table. This was probably the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. I ordered Chicken Quasadillas and they were flavorless and EXTREMELY SOGGY. I also ordered a hard shell shredded beef taco and the meat was at least one day old, if not more. My hubby and I were staying at the Westin and trying to decide between Maya and Agave for our Mexican food night out. Ultimately we chose Agave because we wanted to venture away from the hotel after staying in all day. We could not have been happier with our decision! The ambiance is wonderful. All the staff members were very friendly and our service was excellent. My hubby really liked his steak tacos (lots of meat he said) and I had delicious chicken enchiladas in an avocado cream sauce that was very original. They give you some freshly made warm tortillas that are delicious. I thought the prices were very good for a mountain town, especially for the margaritas! Our server recommended the Cadillac margarita and it was delicious. If I had one critique, it would be that the complimentary salsa is just ok, not amazing. But everything else about Agave is spectacular ... and it will definitely be the restaurant we head to when visiting Beaver Creek! read more
