I have built a few rat bikes in my day and I wanted to try AFT's suicide shifter. I went to the website found what I wanted but there was no ordering link. There was nothing on the site that said email or call to order. So I emailed AFT and asked how to order. I was told "you have to buy from us." I emailed back and asked how do I do that? I was told, "from our web site" I wrote back and said "am I missing a link" and Jim replied, "call me it's that simple" I explained there is nothing on your site to tell a customer how to order and it's not that simple and no need to be rude. Jim (the OWNER) responded-this is a direct quote from the owner Jim "I don't want idiots for customers" and " For some reason you wanted to start a pissing match. I found this business after doing a google search and I was intrigued after visiting their website. I found the owner of the business Jim Giuffra to be totally unprofessional and uncaring when dealing with my inquiry. Earlier I had sent him a picture and a wish list of things I wanted done for my motorcycle. He promptly replied with an email that said "I told you to call me I don't have time for emails." I'm sorry but I think that if you are going to talk down to me by saying I TOLD you to call me. I shudder to think what type of business he runs when he can be so unprofessional and discourteous to a potential new customer. Don't fall for the hype when they claim to be 2 time world champion custom bike builders. No matter what accolades they may have earned the one that they are most lacking in is the one of good customer service. read more

I brought in a Yamaha 125 in for a tune up, tire repair and stuck choke. I asked Jim for estimate. He said $150.00. I pick up the bike about 2 weeks later. I called him for the charges so I could pick up some money on the way. The bill, $347.00. I asked him why he didn't call me. He said I just fixed what you wanted me to. He added an in line fuel filter without my permission and simply said " do you want me to takes some parts off". I didn't appreciate the condescending attitude. . Note: The bike runs fine. . I didn't appreciate his attitude nor professionalism. Find another shop to do business if you require a shop geared toward the customer.. . P.S. This isn't really a motorcycle repair shop, it's 1 guy with a couple tools and no knowledge in some tiny, rented, shared, single garage bay. Well, let's see.....so many things are bad about this place. 1. The mechanic gave me shit about how some previous work was done on my bike?!? 2. The owner quoted me $80 and I was charged $120 for a simple 20 minute job with $35 part. 3. The owner/mechanic lied to me about checking the bike for strange noises. Told me he drove it and heard nothing, but when I picked it up it made the same loud noise and still does, thanks for nothing asshat. If you can't hear the noise then you are deaf, and since I spoke to you, I know you aren't deaf. You shouldn't lie to your customers. 4. It took them 11 days to do the simple job. 5. They tried to sell me on more parts and services and when questioned they couldn't explain WHY it needed the parts they said it did. Then after refusing the additional services I was forced to sign a paper noting that I declined them. 6. Mechanic left a big bolt out during re-assembly; I had to point this out to them before leaving. The funny part is; he was giving ME shit about not tightening all my bolts 2 minutes before that !!! REALLY???? 7. Owner/mechanic told me "it's not possible to repair or paint motorcycle fairings" and then I asked around to paint shops and they do it all the time. The guy took absolutely no initiative, was not friendly, and quite frankly I am doubting his skills. Would somebody please open a normal motorcycle repair shop around here? The ONLY reason this place has been in business so long; is the fact that it's just this one guy in a tiny little shop and he is the only one for 50 miles in any direction. It's 100% worth it to trailer your bike to Stockton or Sacramento instead. Go to a certified repair place, not this guy in his shed. read more

I took my Bike to Jim to patch my rear tire, he told me it would be $30 I said you have a deal and left my bike for a couple of hours. I came back to pick up my bike and Jim hands me a bill for $97. I asked "What happened to the $30!?!" He replied "your back brakes were worn down and needed to be replaced SOON, so I changed them while I was fixed the tire". I asked "Did I give you permission to change the brakes?" He replied "I can take them off but it will be a couple of hours" I paid the $97 but will never go back to Amador Fine Tune. Also the tire patch job ended up being a tire plug job, something I could have done myself, definitely not something the safest method for repairing a motorcycle tire. read more

Not a bad place for what I needed. My daughter rides a TTR50, I lost the master link. We shot on down to Amador Fine Tune and they fixed us up. Not the most personable place, but I think thats a function of the type of place it is. You want personable syrupy customer service? Go to Nordstroms. You need a master link in the Jackson foothills, go to AFT, hand over $4.00 and you are on your way. I have another bike at home with no spark. I have no TIME to fix it. It will be going to AFT. I have a feeling it wont be done anytime soon, but Im in no hurry either. read more

I came across this business while checking into a particular brand of sprockets. He could get what I wanted and have it on my bike quickly. So I began to take my bike to him even though it was a 30 mile drive to his shop. On a day when I took my bike to him I most often would drive 120 miles "round trip." Up to drop the bike and back home to wait. Call would come a few hours later and then another up and back. But his expertise, fair rates, and the fact that he rides the same bike I do all gave me confidence in this shop so I kept going back. Like the other reviewer here noted I never did find Jim to be truly personable. Usually a bit short. But I put that aside in favor of developing a relationship with an ace mechanic. But recently things went a bit sour when I needed a new part for my bike. I ordered a specific set of parts through him and scheduled the installation. As I was picking up my bike he casually informed me that one of the pieces he installed was not the same one that I ordered but would "be fine for the type of riding" I do. I was a bit surprised and didn't know what to say or do. Didn't want to offend him with too many questions as he was already bristling because I had simply asked what the differences were between what I had ordered and what I had gotten. So I went home and researched the piece and found that it is inappropriate for my machine and my style of riding. While it may "work" it is not the piece for the intended application. The manufacturer doesn't even rate the piece for a bike with a displacement as large as mine. So I called back and asked if the piece was right. If it would last. Instead of speaking in a civil manner to me he said instead that I "panic at everything." Huh? I've never panicked over anything and certainly nothing at your shop. I expressed the idea that it was my money, my bike, I had ordered a specific product and had gotten a different one with no explanation as to why. Instead of admitting this to be incorrect he told me I should have asked questions when I picked up the bike. Um...I tried. You didn't like it. After explaining to him the ridiculously poor treatment he was giving a loyal return customer and having to tell him I should have been informed of any changes to my order prior to them being made he did admit he was wrong. He offered to order whatever I wanted and install it for free. But he was pissed. I've chosen to disassociate myself from him. Jim is a very good technician. However his customer service "bedside manner" is really lousy. And I did not like that he took it upon himself to order a part different from that which I requested without informing me until it was already on my bike. I'm especially not happy that no one agrees with him as to the correct application of this piece. Honda (my bike make) said no to it as did the actual manufacturer of the part. I called both on the phone. I called several other bike shops and casually asked and was told each time more or less in these words: "it will work but will wear out fast. It's not the appropriate part for your machine or the type of riding you're doing." So I came away feeling like I can't really ride my bike until I replace this brand new chain. Very disappointing and I will not return to this shop. read more
