One tree was dead, the others were showing signs of age and a large root was growing towards the house. That, coupled with overgrown grass/weeds from recent rains was creating a nightmare scenario. Afraid the trees might topple onto our house we decided the time had come to remove the trees and give the yard a haircut. Out of a couple of estimates we received, Espitia's Tree Service answered my quote request in a timely manner, was able to promptly come by to make an assessment and proposal. The yard service was included as well as stump/removal. Alejandro explained the process, the options and time table. He kept us in the loop and I was quickly informed when timing had shifted a bit because a prior project was taking longer than expected. Work was done in a timely manner, the fear of trees toppling over no longer an issue. They removed the stumps and a large root that was growing in the direction of the house. Again to reiterate, Communication was great, proposal was clear, the cost reasonable, and the work was done in a timely manner. He was able to brainstorm with us to help us imagine a completely new yard. He gave us ideas that we would either agree or disagree with. For the early stages of the project Angel was the primary foreman of the job. Angel was very friendly and respectful. He would give us updates on what they would be doing for the next couple of days, or if they wouldn't be coming due to weather conditions. As a client this was great because we never had to wonder whether the contractors were coming or not. Our Project consisted of removing existing cement pavers and vegetation. And installation of new turf, irrigation system, and vinyl fence. JBL took care of hauling away all the old materials and bringing all the new materials/plants for our project. My husband and I spoke to him and told him we wanted the California grass to be pulled and not cut. He agreed and asked to be paid in cash. He told me he completed the job and I paid him. When I went out to check the area that he worked on, I saw that he cut the grass instead of pulling it out like we agreed on. I contacted him right away, confused as to why the grass was cut instead of pulled. He suggested that we can spray it since he cut it low. We never discussed using any kind of spray, we wanted the grass to be completely removed. Had we known that the grass wasn't going to be pulled out like we asked, we would've never hired him.
